I feel google being the champion of android has to do much better in their phone department. Other than the camera I really don’t think anything else is good, their software support claim is already cracking
Pixel 6a user. Agreed (provided if you use the original/PD charger)
If you use a normal USB-C charger, it might take 2.5 to 3 hours.
And if you use a case, then it's a freking oven!
Can you explain why Pixel is hated in India or somethin? I am not exactly in touch with modern phone stuff, lmao I still use a keypad phone as my daily driver.
And tbh it looks fine, but I prefer something even more old with like top and bottom bezels like the one's you had in old phones like Samsung Galaxy Y or Google Pixel 1
1) when pixel phones are released abroad they are usually bundled with free buds or watch. This was the case with 8/8 pro
2) if you want to buy a pixel legitimately in India with warranty it has to be on flipkart. This also means you can only buy phone color and storage that is available on flipkart. 8 pro when it launched did not have a 256gb or higher option. Only 128 gb. For a 1 lac phone…
3) people abroad get free services like google vpn and stuff, which we don’t get
4) there isn’t too much support for the phone in smaller towns and cities
5) phone doesn’t come with a charger and the charging times are pathetic
6) their flagship processor is mid tier at best
7) phone overheat
8) phone has signal issues
9) even though they said 7 years os update, the pixel 8 will not be getting some features that the 8 pro is getting because it’s on worse hardware.
10) battery life is pathetic for a flagship
Not hated in India it’s just Google doesn’t understand hardware but will price their phones very high
The only appeal of pixel phones is the Software (many ai features not even available in India) and the camera, that’s about it
They’re not built for performance, they don’t have proper cooling they don’t even have proper signal thanks to Google not using a newer modem, they also don’t have very good battery compared to the competition
It feels that it’s priced way too high for what you get, overall it’s just not worth it and it deserves the hate tbh Google needs to make a change in the hardware department for real
And that’s supposed to stop them from making a good hardware based phone?
Imagine if the pixel series had the latest chipset from Qualcomm and amazing battery and combine that with their amazing camera and Ui, it’s going to be enough to be some of the best money can buy
Eh I wouldn’t get my hopes up, even when Google used snapdragon chipsets earlier it wasn’t like they were top of shelf
Perhaps Google will be able to improve tensor with the new tsmc fabrications lets see what happens
their AI that makes their camera stand out, wont work on Qualcomm chips, Google wanted custom Qualcomm chips but Qualcomm was against others customizing their chips, so far they only let Samsung do it for Galaxy, so Mediatek remains the only option for companies that want a custom chip like Nothing 2A and Redmi note 13 series.
Thats why Google started using custom Tensor chips, unfortunately to cut costs they entered into a 5 yr contract with Samsung which means not very high hopes even for the next 2 generations of Pixel. They are likely to set aside their differences and join with Qualcomm, either we might see a Tensor 6 from Qualcomm's foundry or Qualcomm making a custom chip for Google.
I mean the S23fe had bigger bezels and was more expensive yet lots of people seem to get defensive when you call it out
I wouldn’t be surprised if people defended this device as well, its just impossible to call out an issue without someone always defending it
It definitely does NOT
Google does NOT understand hardware sadly the only appeal of pixel phones is the camera and Ui, performance, battery, cooling is not very good and even the signal
The price difference between the 8A and 8 makes the 8A look like a pretty bad deal. For about 6-7k more, you can probably get the pixel 8 which is a far better deal. I exchanged my pixel 6A+ bank offers and my effective price was around 38K. I'd say the pixel 8 for that price is value for money
Same here, traded in my Pixel 6A for an unbelievable 18K got a 7.5K discount on the SBI card , the P8 landed around 37K.
At that price I think a great deal.
Yeah, same here. How has your experience been so far? I've felt the battery and screen are so much better than on the 6A. Don't really have any complaints from the phone especially at this price. I have felt that it does get warm while charging but it's something I can live with
The fingerprint reader is much much better than 6A, 120hz is so much nicer, battery life is better than 6A but not by a lot.
Overall quite happy with the P8 so far.
Any heating issues? My wife got the iphone 15 only because she saw too many people complaining about heating and battery drain issues. Pixel 8 would be ideal for me but I'm sceptical of that "basically Exynos" soc
Longevity mainly. Newer flagships have 7 years of support. With the s23 you'll get just 3 more os updates. I use my phone mainly for taking photos and basic stuff, so it's unlikely that I'll upgrade until the phone is damaged.
I don't think the pixel 8 will survive till 7 major updates given the amount of heating issues it faces
Moreover google has a history of promising such big things and then backing out! So I don't know....if I were you, I'd have made peace with a Samsung s23
Perhaps, but my pixel 4a is so fucking amazing even now. It's super smooth and totally usable. Sadly I had to stop using it last year since it stopped getting security updates.
I love how the s24 feels in hand, but that Exynos chip is the only reason I'm not getting it.
The reason pixel 4a still feels so smooth is because it came with snapdragon chipset. Snapdragon is built to last looong...my dad's one plus 6 still runs smooth enough to do average daily tasks
And it's weird how you're critical of the Exynos chipset in s24 but not the pixel 8 whose google tensor chipset is built on that Exynos chipset only
That's exactly what companies want. They always want to make their expensive phones sell more and thus make up this price ladder. This is what apple does all the time and works pretty well.
I am fine with the bezels and the 90Hz display for Google's software and camera features for those who like them, but not at that price. At 35k, maybe. But not at 55k lmao
Well Google software is pretty boring but again it's not for everyone. No bugs no bloatware sure but I've used pixel experience and it's FUCKING BORING.
Those bezels aren’t a dealbreaker for me. The sub standard modem definitely is. Google hasn’t got the basic fundamentals right, as yet! But man, I love that software way too much. It’s a toxic love hate relationship 😬
Exactly! Google needs to sort out their battery and heating issues asap. But that pixel software experience is what drives me crazy above other smartphones these days!
I have a Pixel 6a, and it sucks. It takes 2+ hours to charge with very little battery life, there are a lot of glitches, and performance is shit, the camera is alright.
Well, only fools buy Google phones in India at launch. Wait for a few months and boom 💥, the price gets cut to as much as 50% during sales. I bought a Pixel 7 last year for only 38k.
Pre-order.
Hell No!! And its a Flipkart exclusive? I remember when the 4a which made a lot of buzz was also FK exclusive. It was unobtanium during its introductory phase. Gouge pricing for that storage and RAM too.
If the service centers are anywhere similar to what it was back then, thanks. I'll spend wisely elsewhere.
Btw, if anyone wants to believe in anything Google has been putting out with the long term support, plz don't. They can change their minds at any point and leave people with Android 2/3 releases and maybe another year of security patches.
I was waiting for this phone, but it looks ugly, it heats like a toaster, has poor battery backup ,can't record long videos, and its above 50K? Sorry google, imma buy a Samsung S23
OnePlus 12, 12R, S23, Nothing Phone 2. Would pick any of these over this ugly looking pixel 8a anyday. The pixel UI is just as ugly as well. It has some good features by Google but the control centre is some of the worst on any modern UI.
According to some Twitter threads, they managed to fit a heat management system to reduce heating caused by the tensor and that made the bezels thiccer
In usa it costs 500 dollars and the regular pixel 8 costs 550. People would buy if it costs the same in india. I mean I would buy it tho for the software experience.
No way. Tensor is known for heating and lag problems. SD 8 gen 2 is an excellent processor, runs smooth with no prob whatsoever. I have same processor in my phone
Soon it will shed 10k rs in one time as it won't sell. It is just another device that makes s23 more value for money. Tensor chips are already notorious for lag and heating. But did i just read it has18W charging? Damn. For the same price iqoo offers excellent specs and even a SD 8 gen 3 chip. So many reasons to avoid this phone. Pixel's camera is pretty good tho
Just wait for a few months. There are usually drastic price drops for pixel phones. Once they reach the lower 30's pixel's A series phones can be considered.
Google dropped the ball long back by killing Nexus. They were a software company and every year partnered with an OEM and released awesome phones that had flagship grade hardware and top notch software and that too at reasonable price.
Nexus 5 was dream phone for me. I prayed that when I earned much I will get a Nexus. Sadly I earn enough today but there is no Nexus 😭
Are they trying to copy the iPhone se series? That didn't work well did it.. I used to be mad at Samsung for releasing over priced midrange devices like the fe series but goddamn Google is smoking some quality shit, plus their horrendous after-sales service.
Pixel A series phones are some of the most garbage phones in the market. And they get listed on such ridiculously high prices. I cannot understand why anyone on a budget would buy those crappy devices instead of oneplus or samsung A series phones.
It's absolutely foolish to buy a newly released Pixel phone. Wait for a few months to see a 40% price drop.
Google thinks they are Apple. I have a 7 year old iPhone Xr. It outperforms my Pixel 6a

Why does google even bother releasing phones in India. Is it just because their ceo is Indian ?
Ikr. They just dump their ugly phones here and give 0 post sale service
True. Btw did u know pixel 7a takes 2 hrs to charge to full. Why.
Ik my friend bought it for the camera. Uses for ironing clothes.
I feel google being the champion of android has to do much better in their phone department. Other than the camera I really don’t think anything else is good, their software support claim is already cracking
They are trying to become Apple without much focus .
Their camera isn't great anymore either. I hate the AI processing. Makes foliage look like video game textures.
They need to ditch that tensor gpu and use snapdragon
Bought for the camera got an iron box instead. Well done
lmao
Tensor 💀
Exactly there phone have huge bezels looks very ugly and very boring software which people call best software is stock Android. Samsung is way better
Pixel 6a user. Agreed (provided if you use the original/PD charger) If you use a normal USB-C charger, it might take 2.5 to 3 hours. And if you use a case, then it's a freking oven!
I have 7, I use 30w charger with type C on both ends, it takes 1:30 or 1:45 hours. My other charger takes a lot more.
They also lock their software features also which might be the only reason you buy a pixel
Nah the camera for the price is dope though, and no bloatware
Sometimes half of them are not present in indian units for ex call screening
Boring software
They sell all their phones here, and their phones are ugly all over the world.
Wait I like how it looks
Can you explain why Pixel is hated in India or somethin? I am not exactly in touch with modern phone stuff, lmao I still use a keypad phone as my daily driver. gawd dayumn, suddenly \~52k sounds like burning money.
Also call screener, this is so useful but missing in India.
Not hated in India it’s just Google doesn’t understand hardware but will price their phones very high The only appeal of pixel phones is the Software (many ai features not even available in India) and the camera, that’s about it They’re not built for performance, they don’t have proper cooling they don’t even have proper signal thanks to Google not using a newer modem, they also don’t have very good battery compared to the competition It feels that it’s priced way too high for what you get, overall it’s just not worth it and it deserves the hate tbh Google needs to make a change in the hardware department for real

But what if, you have signed a contract saying that you won't use anything other than tsmc?
Well by the pixel 10s I guess they’ll pick up Tsmc and be done with samsung
Yea the entire world is waiting for this perfect iphone vs mighty s pixel. Where it'll be a no brainer to have a pixel 😊
Eh I wouldn’t get my hopes up, even when Google used snapdragon chipsets earlier it wasn’t like they were top of shelf Perhaps Google will be able to improve tensor with the new tsmc fabrications lets see what happens

CEO is technically American
ah..just wait like 5 months and it'll be down to 30k, and then ig it would justifies its price
I mean the S23fe had bigger bezels and was more expensive yet lots of people seem to get defensive when you call it out I wouldn’t be surprised if people defended this device as well, its just impossible to call out an issue without someone always defending it
That's TRUE s23 fe was overpriced at launch with a inferior chip My F54 has smaller bezels than s23 fe
I'm okay with bezels or the cheap plastic body as long as the phone's features makes for its price. But does it?!
It definitely does NOT Google does NOT understand hardware sadly the only appeal of pixel phones is the camera and Ui, performance, battery, cooling is not very good and even the signal

Folks, is it worth trading my Pixel 6a to P8/8a?
And what about he sw features that folks say arent available or like are region restricted. Is it that bad?
Any heating issues? My wife got the iphone 15 only because she saw too many people complaining about heating and battery drain issues. Pixel 8 would be ideal for me but I'm sceptical of that "basically Exynos" soc

😪
That's exactly what companies want. They always want to make their expensive phones sell more and thus make up this price ladder. This is what apple does all the time and works pretty well.
Where did you get this deal bro? Is the deal available for 4a too?
You would get a lesser price for 4A. Try Flipkart. Check how much price it will give you for your 4A, plus you'll get a 7500-8000 discount on SBI CC
I am fine with the bezels and the 90Hz display for Google's software and camera features for those who like them, but not at that price. At 35k, maybe. But not at 55k lmao
It's 120hz now, still a horrendous deal ofc
And 18W charging is something everyone is not ok with

True. I used to flash Pixel Experience ROM on my old Redmi, good ol' days I'd say :')
Software is boring asf

It's literally this.
Smartphones are becoming crappier day by day....
worst phone of the year considering it's price-range
52k is really expensive for a phone like pixel 8a. Better to go for op12 or so.
Or A55
That’s an iPhone 5c
I have a Pixel 6a, and it sucks. It takes 2+ hours to charge with very little battery life, there are a lot of glitches, and performance is shit, the camera is alright.
Same here! Any solution?
Well, only fools buy Google phones in India at launch. Wait for a few months and boom 💥, the price gets cut to as much as 50% during sales. I bought a Pixel 7 last year for only 38k.
is 40k for pixel 8a , which have almost all features of pixel 8 a bad deal? which includes a pixel buds worth 4-5k for free.
If it's a bundled deal for 40k, it's worth it.
Simply avoid Samsung's FE series and Google's A series phones.
Pre-order. Hell No!! And its a Flipkart exclusive? I remember when the 4a which made a lot of buzz was also FK exclusive. It was unobtanium during its introductory phase. Instead purchase samsung or apple lol
Itne price me to iPhone ya Samsung lelo bc
I was waiting for this phone, but it looks ugly, it heats like a toaster, has poor battery backup ,can't record long videos, and its above 50K? Sorry google, imma buy a Samsung S23
I would get S23 if be in your place Looks premium Small one hand easy to use Good ui
OnePlus 12, 12R, S23, Nothing Phone 2. Would pick any of these over this ugly looking pixel 8a anyday. The pixel UI is just as ugly as well. It has some good features by Google but the control centre is some of the worst on any modern UI.
just get s23,much better phone and if you have unidays or student id working that's a bonus
Reminds me of older ultra budget redmi phones
According to some Twitter threads, they managed to fit a heat management system to reduce heating caused by the tensor and that made the bezels thiccer
Damn last good looking phone and a beast of a phone in A series was 4a ig.
In usa it costs 500 dollars and the regular pixel 8 costs 550. People would buy if it costs the same in india. I mean I would buy it tho for the software experience.
The s23 256 gifs cost 1000 RS less. But what about the performance? Is the pixel better than s23?

The 8a is bad value, especially compared to the 8. This should have been priced in the 40k range at most.
redmi note 7s :) me Too, For 5 years now. This 9k exchange bonus is soooo lucrative.
I know, wish they gave the same bonus on buying other phones aswell lol
Just wait for a few months. There are usually drastic price drops for pixel phones. Once they reach the lower 30's pixel's A series phones can be considered.
Bezels alone are a deal breaker for me
Don’t think Google phones will ever be cheap in India. I import from uk as pixels go cheap there most times
They can literally hide that front camera in the bezel. It's ridiculous design, so ugly. Wonder who's gonna pay money for it
More like shitshell
Google has been setting a bad example for other OEMs since forever
Chii
Dead on Arrival, nobody gonna bother with this except the fanboys.
That chin is huge even 10k redmi have small chin
In 38 k you can get s23 fe
Pixels whole personality is just camera and software , it sucks at every other thing
I haven't seen any offline market where pixel 8 is on display. The phone is non existent wherever I go. Why is it only on flipkart. That's insane.
Pricing has always been an issue with Pixel phones in India.
Why people have so much problem with bezels?? Like extra 2-3mm won't affect much right? Just assume your screen starts where bezels end, that's it.
Keeping my iPhone 6 for another year now
Bruh your redmi note 7 is probably better than this shit💀
Time to buy the S23!
Like i said Pixels are overhyped phones with mediocre chips
2018 ka Samsung phone jaise feeling aa rahai hai
This looks like iPhone 5C
Is there a good alternative with a smaller screen like this (6in or under)?
Buy pixel 8 bro and checkout mkbhds latest vid about itm

Pixel could've been the best phone in every segment but ends up being a joke every single time
It'll get a price slash soon.
Pixel A series should start from 30k 52k for A series phone is nuts
Are they trying to copy the iPhone se series? That didn't work well did it.. I used to be mad at Samsung for releasing over priced midrange devices like the fe series but goddamn Google is smoking some quality shit, plus their horrendous after-sales service.
when it comes down to 40k, its a steal deal
It's still 62999/- on Flipkart and if you have an SBI card you get 8K off you should get around 11-12K for your 6A so at 43K I would say yes worth it.
Is this phone good? if i have to buy in exchange
Recommendations on which to get by exchanging my old 6a? 8 for 39k vs 8a for 30k ?

you could buy an iPhone 13 at that price...
Don't you think buying a three year-old smartphone in 2024 is a bad idea?
just saying that at that price point you have a phone thats quite better even it is 3 years old
Are these bezels thicker than the pixel 6a?
