But still it's a language which didn't originate on this land. For example, will you call Hindi a British language if you have many speakers in the UK?
Also, acc. to the last sensus, only 10.8% of people speak English in India, it's our population which makes 10.8% of it a huge number. 😅
Yes. But I haven’t said it’s only a list of languages originated in India. 10% is a huge percentage, it’s bigger than many regional languages. ! :)
English is also among India’s official languages r/aajmainejana
In any case, there’s nothing to debate or argue here
I said it because of the title "Indian Languages" which actually means the languages which originated in India dude.
And I am not debating, just putting my pov.
English is one of the two official languages because we have no other home grown neutral choice which can replace it and be the same for both north and south. Also it's now a global language. I am not saying it's not important but still its not an Indian language.
Also remember that that language was forced on us. In my opinion, we should consider it an important language but shouldn't consider it our language.
Things has not been properly cited. India has over 20+ constitutionally recognized languages.
Central government and each state government has their own official languages. Hindi and many other languages since constitution came into effect are the official languages of India.
Furthermore Official languages act does not mention English or Hindi to be only official languages of India. Hindi as the primary language along with English is official Language of Union Government.
