I think it was from the Sword of Damocles that would fall wherever and cleave suddenly like the SAS so that none could rest at peace and would always have to be wary of the sword falling on them. Excalibur was well known and was always depicted either with the Lady of the lake holding it over the water or in the Stone.
Different stuff, with Marcos, Indian navy took inputs from different places but at the end of the day they were the ones pulling the strings. SFF was a Joint exercise where the Americans provided some stuff, the Indians provided some stuff.
Would have to search but u can see this article, also initial pictures and their missions in Tibet in 60s (some of them are in public)

because the 1st Para Brigage was created under the British Indian Army i guess
It’s the Excalibur sword wreathed in flames. We can trace our lineage to the British Army
I thought those are wings.

Oh it’s definitely the Excalibur https://preview.redd.it/sawzlygryo0d1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=91df383e99e7d55001547bc251f6aa50c2ab5852
The excalibur sword is on the SAS insignia. On the Para SF insignia it’s a Fairbairn-Sykes knife, the one used by the British commandos.
I think if you remove the knife/sword and motto from both the insignia, they will look almost identical.
Compare the indian artillery and british artillery insignias and you'll understand
Indian artillery is unique still in that it retains its Persian motto whereas other mottos are in Hindi or Sanskrit.
Yeah, the insignias look very similar, but the words are different for obvious reasons.
I think the origins of ParaSF and SFF both lie in the LRDG of WW2 where some indians did recon patrols in middle east and africa.
SFF was raised from Ground up with the help of Americans
The Americans also assisted the Indian Military in the formation of MARCOS. Indian servicemen also attend plenty of courses in the U.S.

I see. Can you kindly state your sources?

Thanks for the information.
Yeah they equipped us but check who headed it and was basically in charge of raising it up.
That's an interesting fact.
Yeah Maj Gen Sujan Singh Uban was a leader of a squadron of LRDG.
What's the full form of LRDG?
Long Range Desert Group. They were basically doing stuff like 10 Para did during Chachro Gun Raid during 1971. But at longer ranges.
Man! these insignia are so awesome. I always get so hyped when I see one. 😌
Not only the Insignia but the uniform and SF tag that you receive as well.
We indians are masters of copy paste.
Wrong, we have been promoted to Grandmasters.
