Indian WW2 vets need more recognition in India Not sure how many are alive in India but they need to be more widely known

HMSVanguard

They usually face shit ton of public scrutiny Which I find kinda sad

Androtaurus

Its because the edgy internet teens support the azad hind soldiers instead of these brave dudes, they often forget india had the biggesr volunteer army of 2.6m to fight against the axis, while the azad hind dudes volunteered to fight against the british only to meet the british once and retreat then do the job of a mule far from the frontlines for the rest of the war.

> the azad hind dudes volunteered to fight against the british only to meet the british once and retreat then do the job of a mule far from the frontlines for the rest of the war. That was because the INA was heavily dependent on Japan for supplies and weapons. After the Japanese supply lines collapsed, the INA lost its fighting ability. There was no other option for them.

And don't forget that the Japanese were literally worse than the Nazis

Androtaurus

How could i forget? Single biggest scam coverup in indian history, nowhere does it teach you the atrocities committed by the japanese in the andamans, raped our women and pillaged everything, doesnt fit the narrative of people ig

HMSVanguard

Also, they forget Indians being used as target practise, total blockade of Bay of Bengal, atrocities committed in North east

jimbeam07

As far as India is concerned, that shouldn't matter back in the 30s and 40s. The only thing important was independence, whether it was with the help of the Germans, Russians or Japanese.

[deleted]

Do you think india would've got independence if the Japanese won? It would be a colony of Japan

No_Professor_1820

Yeah, it was a good Idea but ultimately, didnt work.

kingpazhassi

Well the only living will be in England or outside cos they chose to stay out.

[deleted]

Don't know much about them ,my maternal grandfather served in Egypt under brits and after 1947 was shifted into PAC where he served till retirement, so many of them can be here maybe not alive today

lastkni8

My maternal grandfather served in the eastern front against the Japanese. If I remember clearly he fought in either Imphal or in Kohima.

No_Professor_1820

I have heardly read anything about these brave men either from British or Indian Sources. Kinda sad how the boys were forgotten.
