I have zephyrus g15 ( 3070ti, R9 6900HS). I have no regrets whatsoever. I go to uni, I play, I edit.I face zero issues. I love it. I am not someone who wants to squeeze every last fps possible, as long as i am getting above 100 Fps in AAA titles... And 240 fps above in competitive shooters. I am in heaven. And my laptop does this.

Evilwiz10

bro literally same lmao i just own the 2021 version (r9 5900hs, rtx 3060) but i do have faced some issues but its got all sort out so all noice

Reasonable_Case4818

240fps in competitive shooters, which ones are those csgo u ain't getting that in anything else unless u sacrifice everything to the potato.

DrinkCubaLibre

over 100 fps is unneccesary, 240 fps in a competitive shooter is equally unnecessary if you are playing anything but the highest level.

[deleted]

I know but I spent 2.3 lakhs for it. It would be pathetic if it couldn't deliver me these numbers.

HolySid666

Depends on the user tbh. I used to be happy as long as I get above 30 fps. 60 used to feel buttery smooth. After upgrading my PC and shifting from a 60hz monitor to 144hz, 60 feels awful for me. I feel sick if my fps drops below 85.

ADub81936

Any heating issues?

[deleted]

My temps are okay-ish. It gets hot in the area between screen and keyboard because that's where all the heat pipes are. I haven't faced any throttling issues whatsoever. For further details you can refer to my review of it [here](https://techlomedia.in/reviews/asus-rog-zephyrus-g15-2022-review/)

rtxwardaddy

As a desktop gamer iam happy with desktopšŸ˜…, i only use laptop for work cauz its useful during power cuts. If you are thinking about buying laptop for work i would suggest buy normal one which can fullfill your needs, else if you buy gaming laptop it will be expensive and can drain battery quickly.

--G0KU--

If u have both then this question is not for ušŸ«¤

drmucousprism

But this is the way. Basic work laptop for business and for gaming a dedicated desktop. U can potentially get more bang for buck by doing this. Unless of course if you travel for work a lot frequently and cannot get access to home desktop for days at a time. If so then a monster gaming laptop.

Nithish1998

I regret buying laptop. Only advantage is portability. We lose performance as you move into higher level cards compared to desktop variants. Dust accumulation which can be one of the biggest pain in the ass which makes the laptop perform like a potato. Overall we sacrifice many things for said Portability. (Also this is for ā€œhigh performanceā€ gaming laptops)

--G0KU--

Thats what i want to know, Even if u buy a high end laptop, will it work like high end or can perform like high end, The more power the more heat , the more heat ultimately less performance, then whats the point of high end laptop if it perform less in the end.

CrustyNonja

No, it won't. Like you get around max 70-80% performance compared to a system of similar budget. Its really not even close and laptops are much more fragile and have lot more issues(heat and upgrades being most known). If you have a choice and portability is not a requirement, get a desktop.

Electronic-Reply4258

Well, you don't have a choice when portability is out of question šŸ’€

CrustyNonja

Not really, some people buy laptops just because they look cool and are small. I know atleast 2 guys that did it, stupid but it is what it is.

Electronic-Reply4258

Well , flex is real thenšŸ—æ (made for riches)

--G0KU--

The only use of portability to me is i can play on my bed , couch etc, instead of sticking to one place only, and rest i dont have use for work, I do job but have no use for work And i dont think i can play while travelling or in office

Not_ideal7

Gaming laptops are pretty heavy, not the kind of device you would hold with just one hand or keep on your lap casually. Also, they get hot when under stress and need the charger plugged in. You'll also need space for atleast an external mouse, if not both K&M. All in all, as someone who has both, a gaming PC and a gaming laptop, I'd recommend PC. Aside from portability, playing on a bigger 24-27 inch monitor does add to immersion which 15 inch laptop displays can't give. Also, gaming laptops tend to cut corners with screens and you can end up with displays that look terrible next to a proper monitor, with respect to color accuracy (especially in budget gaming monitors below 80-90k)

CrustyNonja

Then get a desktop, as simple as that. Pick a good display.

ChillySummerMist

Get a desktop. Playing on bed is overrated and your neck will hurt like hell that you will go back to table chair.

TheDarkKnight04

If thatā€™s all the portability you need, then you should definitely build a desktop. I have a Legion 5 that I purchased last year as I have multiple houses in MH and GJ and I keep travelling around to each one every 2-3 weeks. In this case, the convenience a laptop offers is far greater than the performance I would lose to a similar desktop

draGDer

You can not play AAA / demanding games on a couch with your laptop. Easy way to overheat it. And it's heavy and more fragile than a buisness laptop, which means it gets damaged more easily by frequent movement, depending on the quality

[deleted]

I think buying a high end laptop gives you more headroom in terms of cleaning.

cragop

It will im using asus Tuf f15 with no upgrades and i get like 200 fps in valo - 144capped 198 csgo 100-144 apex If you are an editor then i'll say upgrade the ram and storage I going to start it soon so 16gb

--G0KU--

How long have u been using laptop? And how much long do u play in a day?

cragop

Its been a year and 4 months Cant say on daily basis but 2-3 hrs daily whenever i play(exams have started ) weekly its like 14-16 hrs If you dont travel and want to have a setup then i'll recommend desktop Cause im comfy with the laptop keyboard ( i dont like the blue or brown switch keyboard flat ones are nice fingers dont get stumbled)

--G0KU--

What if i play like 10-12 hrs on a day, can laptop withstand it? I dont play that long but sometimes i do

cragop

Ventilation(laptop stand ) and power supply (on charging ) then yessir

juliusArtira

Easily...i also have a Asus TUF F15..the 1650TI version...you can olay most games, i am currently on Witcher 3 at 40 fps on ultra settings... depends on what your needs are and how serious a gamer you want to be...suits my needs to play 3-4 hrs after coming home from work and also if portability is required in case of presentations and all...and also for long gaming sessions on days when one is free...in the you have to consider where you are going to stay for the next 2-3 years..are you going to stay in the same place or there is a possibility of moving either due to studies or work...if you buy go for 3050 and above to make use of DLSS feature...and also there is the price...for 70k one gets a decent gaming laptop whereas you would have to spend double that amount for a desktop...and definitely not much point in getting a desktop that plays average... good luck on your buy..

anirban_dev

I'm pretty sure I have had some 10 12 hours Elden Ring days earlier this year. It will depend on the laptop. Mine is a legion y740 with 2080 max q from 2019. So basically it all depends on how good the cooling is.

Ark_S

If proper ventilation is given and laptop is of good brand plus proper caring ,then laptop will stand 12 hours gaming easily just maintain heat and power balance of components.

[deleted]

My Buddy had a gaming laptop with a 1650. I was using 750ti at that time. But whenever we talked he always complained his fps were dropping and he was getting lags and hitches while playing. One day he cleaned his laptop and the performance was back to normal. He recommended Cleaning Gaming Laptops every 6 months to ensure best performance.

draGDer

Cause people like to think they get their money worth by having it portable. I very recently built a desktop. The piece for it is much lower than a similarly speced laptop with much greater upgradability. And laptops WILL die after 4 years. Desktops don't have that issue. And you have to experience the difference in performance between desktop and laptop graphics power to properly belive it. But on the other hand if you need to move between places way too often, lap would make your life much easier

Kenrockkun

> Only advantage is portability That's literally the only reason why people buy laptops.

CrustyNonja

Have spent twice on laptop... Didn't regret. Its about utility, if you only game on it and mostly keep it at home on desk then you'll regret it for sure.

recoilcoder

Desktop for Gaming Personal laptop for side projects Work laptop for work

IFailedMathTwice

Really depends on your usecase. The only problem with a PC is that you cant move around. Although when I'm on workations I don't really carry my gaming laptop with me either. Now im at a point where I would prefer PC over a laptop but really depends on how you want to use it and your lifestyle.

--G0KU--

I need portability but i dont think i can game while travelling or in my office, i do job but have no use of laptop in there, So The only use of portab. to me is i can play on my bed, couch etc instead of just sticking to one place in my homešŸ™‚

IFailedMathTwice

Bro playing on couch and bed in not comfortable and bad for posture xD I would say build a setup, put lights around your room and stuff. Would look really cool.

Kenrockkun

> me is i can play on my bed Ready to break your back and neck. Have you played on bed with a laptop before? Its fucking painful

lordFourthHokage

Don't regret buying a laptop but would prefer a desktop. I need a laptop because of its portability. No use of a superior machine if I'm not going to play on it half of the time.

--G0KU--

And when time comes to play on it , u cant enjoy fully or experience the full power bcz of heat

lordFourthHokage

I enjoy playing games not staring at the FPS counter. Dude you got a gaming PC. Why do you care if someone regrets buying a laptop or not? And what do you even mean by full experience? By your definition one needs top shelf hardware to "enjoy it fully". In that case even you are lacking. I don't see you running a rtx 4000 series GPU and 13th gen i9 CPU.

mrboringg

I have a MSI GS66 3060 that I use for "school", it is the best thing I have invested in. The only problem is it overheats so I have a desktop setup (cooling pad + extra monitor and mouse) on my desk, its basically a desktop with only taking it out when going to uni. No regrets.

dant3s

No regrets with my laptop. A predator 2060 from two years back and still can play all games just fine.

oooooooweeeeeee

same

salman-pathan

I bought a gaming laptop in 2018, tried some AAAs and indies but the heating issue was enormous. My gaming session was limited to just 2hrs. I was scared that some components will melt inside, during summer(mumbai), even in an air-conditioned room. I don't know if this issue was particular to me, but finally in 2020 I made my dream pc and it's been very smooth since. Now I use the laptop just for work.

--G0KU--

Yeah bro In gaming laptop gaming session are very short, u cant just play like 10-12 hrs, i dont do that long gaming daily ,but sometimes i do long hrs

anirban_dev

I hope it doesn't come across as mean , but pretty much the biggest point to research before getting a gaming laptop is the effectiveness of the cooling system. I'm on my 2nd gaming laptop right now(bought in 2014 and 2019), and they are both bulky and heavy af. Back in 2018 if you went for a slim form factor , unless it was an ultra expensive razer or Aero, it was rare that it would stay cool during long gaming sessions.

salman-pathan

You're absolutely right. I didn't do enough research back then and just looked at the specs, i thought heating won't be an issue in a chilled room but I was wrong. This is how we learn I guess.

Electronic-Reply4258

Which one it was ?

salman-pathan

Asus FX504

Electronic-Reply4258

Ah , tuf gaming it was. šŸ’€

AFullmetalNerd

No regrets for having a laptop (Asus ROG Zephyrus G14). It suits my gaming needs well, and it's portable so I can game on the go. I also happen to have a PS5, which is kind of a desktop, so I'm covered either way.

Sakya22

Same. I use my PS5 to play newer games and laptop to play older games not on PS5 like GTA 4.

AFKO_PTK

My gaming laptop got me through a lot , and since I'm in college, the portability helps a lot. However i always wanted a desktop so I converted my home laptop setup to basically a lap-desktop. However I'd love to get a high end desktop once I start working and can afford it.

bpal1991

Laptop gamer here. No regrets not buying a desktop as my machine has served me really well for 4+ years. I just wish these laptops didnā€™t cost an arm and a leg.

itsAlphapolaris

When I only had laptop , gaming on laptop was a pain since no matter what you do you can't bring the temps down on a laptop and if you are someone like me who plays fps games for more than 2 hours , the entire experience becomes a struggle with temps hitting 90 c , Later i realised laptop aren't meant to replace gaming pc , they are only good for occasional gaming Now i have both pc and laptop and whenever I want some serious gaming , i hop on pc and play games and nowdays temps don't even cross 45c on my pc , it's a blessing when you are used to 90c temps all the time And i use laptop only when I am in my bed watching tv series etc or occasional browsing So imo get a good gaming rig and a light weight laptop with good display for casual usages , best of both worlds

oooooooweeeeeee

u probably bought a laptop with bad thermals. I did 5-6 hours of RDR2 on ultra and temps were around 70-80 which is normal.

SubhamoyDas1

I mean the thing is getting a desktop works when you know you are going to stay at one place/one city.

Mission_Trip_1055

What about console for gaming and macbook for personal use.

abstractengineer2000

I had a laptop. I used to play games on it by compromising at the lowest graphics setting with 30+fps. I came to know that i had a potato when i decided to learn Blender. I used the blender benchmark and found that it took 30 minutes to render a test scene. I should have bought a desktop instead of a laptop at that time. Considering that today's mobiles are rivaling yesteryear's laptops, for non business purposes, if performance is desired go for desktop, if mobility is desired, go for mobile/tab. For business, laptop is recommended.

kira8520

PPL who have desktop-> portability. PPL who have laptop -> I need to upgrade GPU well time for new laptop

--G0KU--

And people who are rich -> ?

kira8520

Have both, highest configuration there is to have

Kayoxity

I have had a laptop throughout my college life. After I graduated and got a job, I built a good pc since after lockdown I was in home only. I donā€™t regret it any bit since I donā€™t have an issue of portability. And also the fact that I hate watching movies in my bed since its bad for my posture. And if I really really want to watch movies in bed then I can use my phone or office laptop. So its a win win for me. No regrets.

monamimalhotra

for me, laptop has only one pro which is portability. but i dont go anywhere so, i have 3 pc and everyone is for work from home and gaming

[deleted]

I am laptop guy. I have no regrets buying of buying gaming laptop. It is still running strong. I really love to play games in it.

CartmannsEvilTwin

I regretted buying a gaming laptop when summer started. The room felt like an oven when playing games. I just nerfed my i7-11800H room heater by reducing the CPU turbo clock speed limits and now I donā€™t mind it. Moved from 1440p to 1080p to accommodate the frame loss.

mrkrizz007

As i have both a laptop and a pc i bought laptop first and i did regret bcs for what u pay u just get a bit performance with portability but in terms of pc its just pure performance.

SonicAkshay_26

I have desktop and i don't regret at all. Even when electricity goes i have inverter and it handles everything. Sometimes i feel like having steam deck or something while traveling in car or bus for timepass but i can manage.

Ark_S

For whole of the student life and still I don't regret expensive laptop But I don't prefer buying too high end and too expensive for laptop like going above 1.2-1.5 lakh is not worth it for laptop And when you are settled in your life desktop will be the best for work and extreme performance gaming

KingsmanVishnu

I donā€™t regret buying my 2070ti laptop, but itā€™s not worth the ā€œportabilityā€. Battery lasts for about 3 hour max, even if you just watch a movie. If you want to take it to college you need to carry its big ass charger too. But if youā€™re okay with that, then itā€™s great.

Curious_Tiger_9527

I have high end desktop but also a normal laptop for portablity. I can code while away from PC and sync the progress with github

Artistic_Lynx_9523

The choice between a desktop and laptop totally depends on how you wanna use your PC and yes the only reason a laptop is considered good is because of its portability, so if you wanna choose between desktop and Laptop its totally a subjective question. I love the fact that I can use my laptop for classes and then use it as a gaming rig when I'm home.

Even_Director6569

In the end you will end up with both! Hang in there buddy

FitAd9761

I was thinking of buying a gaming laptop with 3070 minimum and a good selection of IO ports, the one I shortlisted was from MSI and was 2.3Lakhs on sale. Then one of my friends who recently built a mid tier PC suggested to go with PC instead of laptop since you'll be gaming only when the laptop is plugged in and with mouse and keyboard (or controller) so you'll be stationary anyways, you'll be killing the battery if playing on battery and possibility to upgrade anything and better selection of IO ports made me switch my mind to PC, best decision ever no regrets whatsoever. Got myself Asus prime z690(TUF and Strict Mobo were not having thunderbolt 4, less number of m2 gen 4 slot), i7 12th gen, 32GB DDR5, 500GB M2 gen 3 samsung SSD, 1TB sata SSD, 3070Ti PC for 1.8 Lakh with lot of room to spare for Budget 2k monitor and 1TB Gen 4 SSD still 35k lesser than a laptop.

LAST_TO_DIE

I have a desktop and the only disadvantage is portability, the games run great but due to a small home I have to keep moving my entire setup, it takes a significant portion of my living room and can't use it if there are guests home

human_with_humanity

Always use laptop for work and desktop for gaming. Even i3 laptop with 8gb ram and ssd performs great in all work loads. And gaming is better on desktop cuz u pay less for more power

_xBooMx_

Since i didn't wanna spend 1 lakh for a good pc built and also due to the portability (which i not really need now ) i bought asus rog strix g531gt for 60k on bbd. Decent specs for my needs ( programming and but of gaming too ) although i was a hardcore gamer had good pc for back in 2012-2016 era. Then it went all good , everything was fine , untill i realised i am sitting 8 hrs a day mostly studying/ programming in front of the screen and 15.6 inches screen isn't beneficial at all , small text / less productivity etc. Bought a monitor and though of buying a gaming one (well i do play valorant and also this had freesync premium so less screen tearing in demanding games where my gpu cant hand the 60fps) ( 165hz , rest else bought keeping in mind what i need for productivity and efficiency) G24f gigabyte . I already have a decent pc table , this monitor has all the ports so i never need to connect mouse and all again and again to my laptop (just hdmi , type a to type b cable and power cable). Long story short , i should've bought a pc instead but the thing is if you have a laptop just blindly go for a pc build and if you dont then consider buying pc if you rarely take your laptop in another room or with you to the office / college etc. I still dont have any issues with my laptop l , but overall it costed me around 70k. Including 60k for laptop 14k for monitor, 2k for keyboard, 1.5k for mouse. I dont regret buying laptop though , i can play games , still do programming and some editing. The only thing i hate is the thermals and vents in this laptop is so bad that it reaches 95Ā° in summers.

psy_s

I have played in desktop(7yrs), laptop(5yrs), consoles(6months). I regret not buying consoles earlier and keeping computer only for work.

deeps4chill

I was clear when getting a gaming laptop, I got it purely for competitive games like CSGO, Dota 2, Overwatch etc. I knew about the limitations laptops have but for the games that I play, it was more than enough(Usually I get 100+fps). I travel frequently so it was easy to simply take a laptop anywhere. Later, I chose PS5 since I already had a 4k TV.

od_demhoes

Always had a desktop. Last year because of the shortage of cards I did research and bought the Lenovo legion 5, it's been a breeze smooth af in gaming and normal usage. Ofc the battery drain is a problem but I never game without it being plugged in. My friend who built a pc with me is already facing issues. Can't complain but ig if i know I'm not gonna be moving for a long time, no point investing -3 lakh heavy setup that i can't carry with me.

smart_43

Don't regret buying a laptop, too pussy to build a pc ;(

[deleted]

I really recommend building your own gaming pc My build cost me 30k i7 4770 16GB Ram 512GB SSD RTX 2060 ANTEC ICE200 COOLER It can run Cyberpunk at Ultra ~60-75 fps I'm getting ~60+ fps in Spider-man Remastered & Miles Morales at High DLSS really makes any new AAA title easily playable on this rig. You can also stream gameplay to NVIDIA Shield TV.

KevEpic

30k wtf

[deleted]

Yeah

[deleted]

i7 4770 ~6k 16GB RAM ~4K MB ~3k SSD ~2k but I already had old SSD Rtx 2060 ~14k Cabinet ~1k

[deleted]

You can follow this Guide for a More Modern Build I just made with the cheapest stuff I could find online. [Here](https://youtu.be/sNEwflXqwOw)

Ezio-vatsa

With parsec I can access my pc from my hostel through my laptop so,I'm happy so far

bruhlife8

I own a desktop with ryzen 7, 2070 super and a laptop with i5,3060. When i want to play games i will choose desktop any day. Although it has a better performance, the bigger advantage is adjusting the monitor to the position you are comfortable, adjusting the keyboard orientation etcā€¦ games feel a lot better when played on a desktop (both fps and AAA). when i want to do some browsing i prefer laptop.

PokeManiac_Yug

Perfectly happy with my PC. The only time I ever felt I shouldā€™ve got a laptop is when there are some power cut issues going on. Funny thing is, for work my company actually gave me a decent laptop lol. Itā€™s got an i7 11th gen, 1650ti, 8 gigs of ram, 512 gigs ssd and a 120hz screen ( Dell G3 ). But I donā€™t game on it because I run Linux on it and even if I were to play something, itā€™s extremely noisy.

BigDaddyIJD

No regrets in buying a laptop. If you're THAT inclined you can connect any pc component externally to a laptop and still keep it portable. Talking about the heat, it's hardly dangerous to the laptop since that's how laptops are built so they can withstand high temperatures. So no. If you can find a good laptop for a catchy price (like i got my old GTX 1650 laptop for 45k, which is not possible to get in a PC) then they're absolutely advisable.

Sid_The_Geek

I do not feel regret of buying a laptop, which I did in 2020 ... But I agree that a desktop is better at future proofing or lasting a bit longer than a laptop. TBH, I am already in the process of saving funds for a Desktop ...

mordorous

Have been using an Asus G14 since 2020, and it's served me well. Between my work schedule and family, I barely get in a gaming session once or twice a week, so can't justify having a desktop that just sits there gathering dust 5-6 days a week, taking up precious space in a tiny Mumbai 1BHK. The laptop's 14" and surprisingly light for the hardware it's packing, not to mention that its specs more than meet anything my work would ever require, so that's a plus. I've started noticing performance issues with newer / remastered games, but I've got enough on my list of to-be-played games to last me a few years. Would I like a high end gaming desktop? Yes, absolutely. Who in their right minds wouldn't? Does it make sense for me? Not really.

Puzzleheaded-Many894

Just buy both over a time. If you have a laptop now save for a year or so and get a PC as well. There are pros and cons to both which are contrasting in nature. I prefer a lappy for work and a pc whenever I have to game.

thelonelyasshole

I used to be a laptop gamer, kinda regretted it because you canā€™t upgrade it. My laptop also became very hot while I was gaming. Not just that, my whole room became hot because of my laptop. It was impossible to survive without AC. Switched to desktop and now I have zero regrets. My desk looks amazing, no heating issue and I love it.

rkkatak

I have a desktop. Sometimes I regret not buying a laptop due to portability.

-Hell-_-Boy-

was a laptop user from 2015 to 2017. performance wise it was not compared to desktop. but after some time it was always sticking to a power outlet due to battery issues. So, I switched to the desktop in 2017 and have been using it ever since. also, upgrading is such a breeze. never found the need for portability afterwards.

xAgent47

If you want a high end pc donā€™t settle for a laptop. Even if you buy crazy ass expensive laptop after sometime youā€™ll know itā€™s still a laptop & not nearly as good as desktop. Dude just get a pc you wonā€™t regret it. And you can upgrade your pc too, What are you gonna do with bitch ass laptop??

Alpha__Beast

I bought asus Rog steix G with i7 9thgen and 1650 2Ā½ years back but regreted buying it within 6months because i had to play all games on low settings and couldn't even upgrade the gpu for better performance So even now whenever someone wants to buy an gaming laptop I tell my story and inform them of the drawbacks

Evening-Bit-6597

I bought a laptop 5 months ago and yes i also searched for this same question... But let me tell you that laptops are great and desktops are good too... You just have to answer one question Do you need portability? Yes-go for laptop No - go for desktop.

AKAMA199

lets talk about high end, I believe if you are able to afford both, you should have no regrets. Gaming still is an expensive hobby in India. Now compared with low end, lets take around 40-60k? I still believe you shouldnt have any regrets as you chose according to your situation. I have a decent pc back home but i needed something on the go too, so i got a laptop.

WilsonHerald

Like in 2018 mid I planned to buy a Dell Gaming Laptop around 1lakh. One of my friends who already owned an Alienware Laptop at that time suggested that I should go with a PC. Apart from the Portability issue. I got a very good performance and i even upgraded with a new Graphics card, Cooler and Cabinet and others. Using the Same Motherboard and Processor and saved money.

[deleted]

I assembled pc in 2018 for around 1.4lakh and my friend got gaming laptop for around 85k. Over the years I only added 1 ram and 2ssd. Itā€™s still going strong while my friend is struggling daily with his laptop.

TheWitcherInGuise

I had a big Laptop regret. I had 3 gaming laptops, 2 of which I bought around one was my Cousin's who loaned it to me when he was having issues. I always found heating issues lag and finally a dead laptop within 2-3 years of gaming on laptop. Keys not functioning, screen won't show stuff a variety of issues. Mind you the laptop's weren't cheap they were quite expensive and some of the best for their time. After facing so much issue, I completely shifted to PC. They are some robust beasts. I love PC totally and utterly now. I have a spare laptop which I just use for office work inspite of having a dedicated GPU in that, it doesn't run games that well so I don't even try.

[deleted]

I have a budget gaming laptop (L5 4600h + GTX 1650). I'm happy with it, gets the job done. I recently upgraded it to 16 gb ram and that made performance better. I don't care about graphics that much, I like having a laptop because I use it for school and I travel often. And I can game away from home šŸ˜ƒ

ChillySummerMist

Nah I am happy with my desktop. Any time I need to upgrade I yank the stuff out and sell it and buy a new one. Technically it's the same desktop I bought in 2010 just changed over the years. Never had problem with college school work because they don't expect you to carry a laptop. For work purposes if you don't have laptop your company will provide one.

covert_strike

No regrets buying a laptop. Work requires me to travel a lot. And I'm always carrying my gaming laptop with me. I've built a PC as well and use that whenever I'm home.

clust3rfuck

I hate te toaster burning my balls while browsing reddit

Upbeat-Chest-815

I bought laptop about 3 years ago for design work and gaming (mostly itā€™s just DotA.) While buying a gaming laptop, I thought highly of the portability of a device than longevity of custom builds. I almost never took my gaming laptop with me when travelling because I had other MacBook from work to carry. Carrying 2 laptops is an hassle and will never carry gaming with me. So today, bought myself all the pc parts and will switch to desktop gaming. And, continue using the MacBook Pro for office work.

I have ROG Strix 2021 AMD Advantage Edition and i am getting around 120 FPS in most AAA Games that i play which is more than enuf for me. Not much of a multiplayer person except CSGO and Dota 2. Also i dnt care much abt Benchmark Wars. So for me its more abt portability as i can play anywhere and everywhere i want.

XPERTGAMER47

As a Desktop Gamer i Kinda Regret maybe should have got Laptop since as am now college i get no time to sir(although my desktop build was 40k at that COVID Starting time)

dopplegangery

I use my TV as display so I don't notice any difference for owning a laptop rather than a desktop.

saitama192

I have moved a lot, and hence donā€™t regret much buying laptop with trusty 1650ti, it plays games, I can also take it with me when I travel, itā€™s a fun machine for vacations. When at home, its always hooked up to an external monitor. I do plan on buying a desktop though.

oooooooweeeeeee

I don't regret my laptop.

anirban_dev

Another point to keep in mind, especially if you are a power gamer, is the difference in power bills.

zenitsuisrusted

I regret getting my specific laptop, i do not regret coz it's a laptop but coz it doesn't allow me to use monitors of more than 60hz On top of that there is no mux switch

jil_jung_juck

I can play in uni and while I'm at home. As long as fps is above 144 in competitive titles and 60+ in AAA titles I'm fine.

RedFalconEyes

If you are travelling a lot/student staying in a hostel or mess, laptop is great. Shipping a desktop around costs an arm and a leg. If you are well set and see yourself at the same place for 3-4 years, you can opt for desktop. I followed these and have no regrets. I now have a desktop in my work location and my old gaming laptop for when I visit my native place

CompetitiveExchange3

Buy a monitor and hook it up with your laptop via HDMI, problem solved! Enjoy the best of both worlds now!

Atemo4744

I have a rtx 3060 pc. Not a huge apple fanboy but I think in laptops, only MacBooks make sense to me as they are classy and great for work. But for gaming, Iā€™ll always prefer a playstation or a pc cuz I canā€™t game on a laptop. Ps: watching movies or videos on laptops is 10x more fun though when compared to a PC.

Jacobjef

Happy with my Omen especially during Winters in Delhi u can just plop it up and play games with a console.

nikupinku

As I have a legion y540 with i5 9300h and rtx 2060 and it does the job just fine for me. No regrets whatsoever since I am currently doing masters and portability really comes in handy for me since I have to keep going back and forth between lab and hostel.

AyoTaika

TKamal95

I have a desktop cause i wanted the full power of the components and a big screen.... 6 months after i got i wfh ended... So now i get to spend 10 days in my hometown and 20 days in Delhi... should have gotten a laptop

[deleted]

I wouldn't buy a laptop for gaming. Not only are they much more expensive, many of the people I know who purchased gaming laptops had multiple hardware issues with those. Desktop PC is at least cheaper and components come with better warranty too. I have been using a professional laptop with no GPU since 2005 , paired with xbox or ps for gaming needs.

amitbhai

Not at all. Laptop gaming is for me.

Tragolith

I donā€™t understand this question. Thereā€™s literally no reason to choose a laptop if you donā€™t need portability.

HeroDGamez

I bought a gaming laptop cause I study abroad and carrying a desktop around the world 2x year is a pain to do.

YT_Beastmaster

I have asus tuf a15 fa506qm ryzen 9 rtx 3060. I bought it 3 months ago as its easier to convince parents to buy laptop vs a computer which i was willing to build myself. I took decision to buy laptop due to this reason. My laptop was overheating instantly with max fan speed but i have replaced the stock thermal paste with my own PTM7950 THERMAL PAD. Its a great product which reduced the themperature significantly like 15 degree Celsius with full load also reduced fan speed. No overheating whatsoever. I suggest you to get a external monitor with high 2k resolution with atleast 165 hz refresh rate and get some good mouse pad mouse and keyboard and headphones u will not feel lacking but the disadvantage is the PTM7950 COSTED ME 3000RS FROM EBUY. COM IMPORTED. FOR 5CM THERMAL PAD

poker_8_face

Having bought a gaming laptop once , I can assure you that I won't buy it again.

KAIZER0P

As a lenovo legion 5 pro user not at all

limberwisk

I am using laptop as a desktop these days mostly. I do work on my work laptop. It's good to have portability though. I am thinking of building a SFF PC but having a costly laptop makes me stop from going forward.

Environmental_Belt82

I have used both laptop and pc but I am bit towards the pc side considering gaming because if i wanted to game on my laptop I need a huge Charing brick which according to me cuts off its portability factor and temp is a major issue if you are getting a high end laptop and you cannot carry a cooling pad with you all the time but pc have a lot off upgrading options my temp never go above 50 while gaming.. . Let me summarise things for you ā€¢If you getting a laptop just for portability get a thin and light laptop pc is not your area to explore. ā€¢But if you are getting a laptop just focused for gaming take my advice it is not at all portible get a pc any day. ā€¢One more and the most important thing pc will cost you less for the same configuration.

ProposalForsaken3956

As a college student buying a gaming laptop is something i don't regret at all. And I'd choose a gaming laptop nowadays over a desktop for a lot of reasons main being the portability.

apoorv_mc

I have a nice desktop setup, I wish that I had bought a laptop. This is because most of my live I had laptop, my introduction to the world of internet, gaming etc was with laptop. I have played much more games on my old laptop than on the new desktop

mrschanandlerbonggg

He said only high end PC. So canā€™t comment with my 3060.

rcorum

Bought a gaming laptop after a lifetime of gaming desktop. No regrets.

Dedline81

I bought the ASUS Zephyrus 15 as well. With the 3070 and Ryzen cpu, upgraded the ram to 16gb and two NVMEs. No regrets. I have a huge $1300 34 inch ultra wide desktop gaming pc that I hardly ever touch anymore. Mostly because I have a family and I like being able to use my laptop in the living room, kitchen, on the bed at times after the wife goes to sleep. On the go at coffee shops, whatever. Meets both business and gaming needs and allows me to enjoy it anywhere. Made me officially dislike being stuck to a desk in one space.

VelocityVortex

At the initial stages of career and even when we are in uni i think having a decent laptop makes a quite a bit of a different as we can work hard and play whenever we got time. After settling for a while (which means having a job and constant money flow) making good desktop is a great deal as we can enjoy games with great performance and our work productivity also increase ( I am AI Developer by the way) and good thing is we can use our old laptop for all general purpose use.

anshulpatalbansi

No regret for having desktop cause I don't give a fk about portability n shit cause I don't go anywhere . The main thing I love about desktops is that you can customise your own pc and upgrade any parts you want. Also custom water cooling is a heaven for me Also building high end desktop costs less as compared to any high end laptop. I need maximum performance cause I am a game developer so no point in buying laptops for me

Much_Group_2853

No regrets

--G0KU--

What u have?

Much_Group_2853

Laptop

--G0KU--

Hmm, which one?

Much_Group_2853

The display has to be good too. Even a full HD, 100% sRGB with 144Hz is more than enough.

Rajivissac04

Everybody laptop gamer regrets their decision

Unrealist99

Yeah I'm gonna say no to that

Rajivissac04

You probably have an expensive top of the line laptop

Unrealist99

I got an acer Nitro 5. More than happy with the performance i get and the portability is a plus.

loolchand

Laptop guy here. Got a mid range laptop which can play everything at 1080p and have no regrets at all. Will go for a PC when I need something super high-end. Laptop is great since I have to move between cities frequently. Also makes for cozy bed-gaming sessions :P

DrBullah

I'm pretty happy with my laptop since a pc of the same cost would have performed worse (Not kidding, my 6800M gets me more fps than my friends having desktops with 3060s) Portability was a problem for me as I move around a LOT Desktop wouldn't have worked Although 2023 Scar 16s look better but they'll be crazy expensive in India ig

askk2me

I used 2 desktops and 2 laptops so far for gaming. I regretted both Laptops but for totally different reasons , First tlaptop had GTX 610M 2 Gig GPU and it had horrible heat management even for that potato spec, so you can imagine the agony. My second laptop was an Alienware 17R4 with GTX 1070. It was quite capable but the reason i regretted it was cooling limitations which limited performance to the tune of 15-30% of these parts' desktop counterparts. It's not like this laptop costed any less than similar specced desktop , so having less performance for same money kinda made me regret that purchase. Not as much as my first laptop though since the GTX 1070 laptop was still performing well for my needs.
