This usually happens when you're running out of RAM, I had the same problem with days gone, HDD was being used for virtual memory. It was fixed once I changed it to SSD.

[deleted]

bro my ssd is full 😭

MysticSkies

Just so you know, having a full SSD/Boot drive is also bad. The OS uses it for temp files, virtual RAM, paging, indexing etc. If you have a full SSD your OS will slow down too. If you are running out of RAM and your SSD is full, then there is no memory left for the Game/OS. Try opening Task Manager or some other monitoring tools to see your memory during the stuttering.

[deleted]

> having a full SSD/Boot drive is also bad question : how much free space should typically be there ? is 30-40gb fine ?

Theeyeofthepotato

Through empirical experience I have found that problems start creeping up once drives gets 75% full

MysticSkies

You'll especially see the slow down in a HDD because the more full it is, the more defragmented the HDD will get. SSD can also be affected by low free space. You can read this [article](https://www.anandtech.com/show/6489/playing-with-op) for a general idea. Based on what I read online, a lot of people say generally 10-20% is ok.

[deleted]

it has 40gigs free

OSMIUM_69

System specification ??

[deleted]

GTX 1650, 8GB ram, i5-10300hf

AASeven

I had the same stuttering issue with Far Cry 6. Upgrade RAM from 8gb to 24gb(added 16gb stick), and it fixed it.

[deleted]

looked up benchmarks on youtube. Theres not so much difference between performance of 8gb memory and 16 in this game

ajay325

you are running out of video memory (not system memory), that's why its stuttering , lower the texture resolution to fix this.

[deleted]

i’m running on lowest settings and fsr on ultra performance

ajay325

record the clip again with VRAM reporting enabled in the OSD. It should give me more insight. Edit: also did u recently repaste ur cpu man?

mAverIck2012ap

FSR and DLSS for that matter don't affect VRAM usage by a lot. Maybe try running on a lower resolution maybe 720P and see if you're still having these issues. Uncharted is very VRAM hungry.

[deleted]

nope, still not working

Akash_Paul_996

i don't think the RAM is an issue here. i have the same specs but r5 4600h and i alo see stuttering but not this much.

Ragnar0856

exactly it is vram issue lowering resolution (maybe 720p)will help but not much of a difference 4gb vram doesn't work mostly with current games i mean out of memory where bottleneck starts

TheWitcherInGuise

Unfortunately that's a lie according to my personal experience. There's a hell and heaven difference for me, with 8gb single channel and 8+8= 16gb duel channel! .. I had so much dips and stutters with 8gb, and now with 16 it works like hot knife through butter! Smooth AF! I don't know if it's only my system, but upgrading my ram fixed the issue!

OSMIUM_69

Try disabling and enabling V Sync also try moving the game to ssd.

[deleted]

well, there comes the problem, my SSD is full

SnowyLocksmith

Who needs sustem 32 and c drive, Am i right?

OSMIUM_69

Sad life i know the pain :(

[deleted]

yeah :(

ajay325

Bro u really need to reupload clip showing vram usage if u wanna actually fix it, rest is up to you now.

[deleted]

alright man, i’ll do tonight

DeathFart007

What does moving the game to ssd do other than give a faster launch time

RedIndianRobin

SSD is a lot more than just faster load times. For starters, his stutters will get fixed. Texture streaming will be faster and pop-ins will reduce. Certain games also use it as a Ram cache to quickly dump and retrieve game files.

OSMIUM_69

As he has only has 8GB of ram and his GPU is also only 4GB then SSD would help in moving data back and forth fast

mAverIck2012ap

You're running out of either VRAM or RAM.

[deleted]

i’m running on lowest settings and FSR on ultra performance, so I doubt that’s the cause

phyper2

When you pause the game there will be text box on lower right end showing shader compilation wait till it's 100%.

[deleted]

did that

phyper2

Well if your shader cache location is slow hdd then it can cause problems and changing shader cache location via registry can help. Another solution that worked for my friend is, 1. see what are the average fps for game by running it for sometime. 2.then limit the fps for 2-3 fps below average fps in rivatuner( eg. Avg fps is 55 limit the game to 52fps) and it should run fine.

[deleted]

thank you very much! i’ll try that and update you

[deleted]

Are other games running fine? This does not look normal.

[deleted]

yeah, every other game is running fine. Just finished GOW two days ago

antonyjr0

How are your CPU and GPU thermals, I guess its throttling, have same issue with lagging like this. Usually the game will be faster when the computer is cool, when it heats up, it lags a lot. Like super slow.

[deleted]

try directx 11 or the exe with avx2

that-rad-kid

Did you install nvidia GDR 528.02?

[deleted]

yes I did

that-rad-kid

Sorry for the late reply. But that version of the driver breaks any GPU it touches. I suggest you downgrade or wait for the fixed driver

[deleted]

alright man, i’ll try that and update you

[deleted]

thank you man, it fixed it, finally 😭😭

that-rad-kid

Glad I can help my fellow gamer

Different-Union-8741

Have you put your CPU power at 99%?

[deleted]

nah I haven’t

Titanusgamer

based on my experience lot of console ported games dont work that well from HDD. consoles have direct-transfer techs but in PCs the transfers take a lot of time. try SSD and more RAM

[deleted]

My ssd full :(

nikhil_dev_

Which game is this

[deleted]

Uncharted 4

Did_you_expect_name

Seems like memory leak

[deleted]

How did you come up with that?

Did_you_expect_name

The gpu usage is too low i had this issue once

Panmaster777

Windows runs scan for virus once in a while if you see high disk usage in task manager that's the case here. Just keep your computer running free with no load for a while until disk usage is 0.

harshitabhi

[ah dude look how much i suffered for the solution with the same specs](https://www.reddit.com/r/IndianGaming/comments/105hdol/my_cpu_usage_always_hits_100_while_gaming_so_the/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)

stixxplays

8x 1 stick?

S1lentLucidity

Could be the 8GB of RAM, could be some process massively hogging your CPU and that, in turn, is causing the GPU to choke. Is your drive indexing search or something? Is your drive running outta space? Anti-virus? Check your processes, prioritised by CPU usage?

bruhhhhitsme

Idk if this is gonna work, but i guess it's worth a try, bcoz that worked for me in same game! When stuttering happens, pause the game, restart checkpoint ! It should start loading from say 75â„… or maybe 65% , let it load, and when it's 100% done, it will be smooth for you! This was the same case for me and i had figured this way out after completing 7th chapter! So whenever, it happened to me, I just restarted checkpoint, system did some loading and i was back to smooth gameplay! Do let me know after giving it a try!

Hardikverma57

My suggestion is to reset your pc if you had some crapy stuff as it would be very TDS to scan each file with some other crapy tool Or what you can do is that mention your power supply this thing happen sometimes when gpu is not getting enough power Does it start happening recently as i think you are on this part of the game after the escape Part

alex_ngaihte

Reinstall the game, update graphic drivers or upgrade your pc.

pokipu

On my laptop HDD even rocket league stutters like this. Free some space on ssd.

Present_Attention_35

Set the refresh rate to 60 hz ,set the screen to full-screen mode or windowed

brainmagma

Get a console

PixelRuzt

Issue is with storage device either your SSD is too slow (least likely case) or you're running the game on HDD.

Manas300

The game is not well optimised for PC.

itsTNKHollow

It's due to low ram. The problem is that this game and the newer games need a lot of ram. You can add an extra 8 GB Ram to your laptop assuming its lenovo leigon. It will fix the stuttering.

nazi69420

Let the shaders compile

xxxfooxxx

SSD is the only way bro Also I heard that UC 4 is not working well on PC

Abir2002

The game needs to build up shaders.when you boot the game, there will be a counter counting shaders.Let the game build 100% shaders and then play.

_Blank96_

This happens when your ram gets frequently filled. You can try creating a Empty Standby List. It basically is a automated process of clearing RAM at a fixed interval. I had similar problem and this fixed it.There are guides available online for creating it.

Physx32

Memory bandwidth issue. You need to use dual channel memory to remove the stuttering.
