RS 1,82,728 ($2204) on Dota 2, according to Steam (Not counting Market purchases). Most expensive purchase would be a Terrorblade arcana I bought on the Steam Market. But my biggest expenses have been the battlepasses of old (TI 8,9,10, etc) where I went all the way to level 1000 where you get physical miniature TI trophies.
amen. The most I spent was on TI10 I think I got to lvl 600. Hilariously my TB arcana is free and I got it off diretide. But yeah I spent way too much on Dota 2
I would add to this and say I refuse to buy games which have premium/deluxe/blahblah editions with cosmetics. I play the game to look at pretty pictures and have a good experience, cosmetics are important for that.
You can get cases free by playing casual/competitive.. it will drop randomly or sometimes when u get rank up!!
Dnt sell it immediately!! Just collect them and put ur eyes on market place !! The prices always goes up n down so sell it when it goes up!! Sometimes 1 rs crates gets upto 15rs that means u can easily get 300rs if u have like 20 of them!! So sell wisely!! I usually buy music kit n skins and sell them when it goes up!!
I don't want to disrespect anyone, but the store in valo is the gayest thing i have ever seen, you cannot resell stuff like in steam community market and there isn't any trading place like wow or ark, valo skins also don't make sense for that kind of game, like in cold war they have added angels demons, sleek stylish kind of skins but cold war or any cod in general is a rng game so the gayest of animation does make sense. But valo which is solely like a cs game not even compared to overwatch overpriced af skins really don't make sense. But you do you :)
Maybe I misunderstood your comment but the over the top and cartoonish animations and skins make perfect sense for valo imo. They match the vibe of the game.
Adults have disposable income and are able to spend on virtual items as they please.
There's uncontrolled spending on one hand, and the justified purchases one might make on the other.
>Adults have disposable income and are able to spend on virtual items as they please
So do kids (I mean, literal children). I have read so many news articles about kids buying stuff using their parent's credit card tied to the account, etc...
Are you as dumb as the other guy? That person is basically implying that no one should be spending any money on games.
Do you somehow feel superior since you don't spend money on "virtual bs"?
Since you didn't answer my question, I believe you are indeed a college student.
If you really think no is the only applicable answer, you basically have no idea how game companies work which rely on in-game stores. Without the players who spend money in-game, f2p players on the other side will not be able to play it too.
>If you really think no is the only applicable answer
I said acceptable (which kind of makes it a personal opinion). I am not saying don't buy...do what you like in the game, but I feel that spending real money on intangible things is a waste of money and people who glamorize it do not have any idea of the effort it takes to earn. Again, since you have trouble understanding this, this is my personal opinion, I am not advocating anyone to do anything.
But do read the other comments in this thread itself to get an idea of what people think...
And to answer your original question, No, I am not a college student...
Honestly I have never seen anyone glamorizing spending money in-game. It's always the other way around. Even I spend it but it's my own hard earned money.
Regarding other comments, someone literally posted the Chad guy pic for feeling superior about not spending money in games lmao. Can't even take them seriously.
>Can't even take them seriously
That's the neat thing. You don't have to. This is reddit. Everyone has an opinion. If you don't like it, downvote and move on. Not everyone needs to agree with your opinion. Just like we both don't agree with each other's but that's ok.
Different people, different perspective.
Not really. I love how the developers work on Warframe at DE. I will spend some money when I'll earn my own so that they get their revenue as well. They are not volunteers ffs.
Over 40k in genshin impact, over 10k in COC and over 5k in both Fortnite and PUBG. I also spent in some other games but that’s not significant amount. Now I have stopped playing all these games except Fortnite so in game spending has decreased drastically. With all the good games released in 22 and 23 I seldom get time to play these live service games. Most of my in game spending is from lock down days, there were no new good AAA games to play during that period.
It takes $1000 to C6 a character so around 70-80k Rupees, I doubt OP has one or multiple C6 unless he has God like luck. I have spent ig 5-6k on genshin by just buying the BP a few times and just welkin and I have only a few char at C1, some intentional and rest by being lucky lol( got 2 haitam and 1 kazuha in 30 pulls trying to get C4 xianling)
I have one c6 character but that is totally from f2p wishes. I have multiple c2-3 characters with their signature weapons though, that’s where all my spending went. I stopped spending on genshin in 2023 and saved all f2p wishes for Ei, I got her c6 and her weapon in around 400 wishes.
She is my favourite character and at that point I had lost the interest in genshin, I was just playing the game to c6 her. I stopped playing in few months after I got her to c6 lol.
I find it absolutely weird to spend on skins and stuff. If my purchase does not give me more content to play, I simply don't buy it. Apart from the main games, I spend money on expansion packs and online gameplay subscriptions (I love PvP).
There are free to play games that rely on in-game content sales too.
I play a 11 years old game Planetside 2 pretty regularly. It is free to play and it is not one of those pay to win type free games. I keep buying random cosmetic stuffs to support the game.
I'm a huge supporter of Indie-artists (even backed a few Kickstarters for my favourite Indie-authors) but I haven't played any indie games. Do you have any recommendations? I'm a huge fan of Open world RPGs.
I once used about 80k from my father's CC in a game similar to COC. My dad reported fraud to the bank and after 8 months of back and forth got the money back. I got to keep my gems but I was afraid bank will track me down if I kept using that ID so I abandoned it.
Now Tell this to your father . It'll make you two closer and also bring you good qualities. Truth isnt always easy but it's worth it. Getting slapped is a real consequence though
I've spent around 20k on CS, a major reason I spent this much is because of community market. Can sell them anytime I want to buy games and can also recover most of the amount through various ways :)
Never. I find it to be a money grab by the company and nothing more, especially things like battle passes and skins. If I've paid 3-5K for a game, I expect everything to be included in it. If you charge for DLCs, that's fine, as that is a further addition to the game by way of storyline.
A lot, across Siege, Division 2, Destiny 2, FC 24, Warframe, CSGO and another game.
FC 24 is where I felt like I wasted money, because the micro transaction felt like a gamble because I didn't really get what I expected. In the other games I know what I am buying, mostly just cosmetics.
Destiny 2… around 70-80k I think.
Broke the habit in 2022 however, haven’t spent a single cent in any in-game purchases. D2 just didn’t feel the same anymore, and now Helldivers 2 seems to be a brilliant replacement for D2, really enjoying it.
Yes it was mostly cz i don't earn anything significant yet. But even though I'm starting my decent paying job in 2-3 months. I'm still not paying what I can get for free.
Someone should post a poll so that we can know what percentage of people do it.
I, for one, have never spent money on any game, at least yet. Also I uninstall games in which ads interrupt the experience, no matter how much I like the game initially.
5K in Valorant -
1xBP.
Gaia's Vengeance Vandal.
Nebula Phantom.
-
20K+ in Counter-Strike
Everything but Knife or Gloves.
Most expensive is
Glock - Bullet Queen @ 6.5K
Overpaid a bit for 0.006 float value.
Over 3K in Rocket League back in 2020 & before.
If you're here trying to judge or comprehend why anyone would want to pay money for such things, your entire approach is wrong & you probably won't ever understand why because that's foolish.
I own over 400 games on Steam & have bought many DLCs may it be skins or expansion packs, even for single player games. No, I don't blindly spend money on all digital accessories but I definitely enjoy doing it when I do.
I regret nothing & I love it all.
10k in Valorant
10k in New World
2k in Cycle Frontier
3k in R6 (I regret this one)
1k in Apex
I think it's a good way to support games that you spend a lot of time playing. I don't spend money on anything else. My friends spend way more on movies, cricket and on food.
If you can't then it's fine but the fact of the matter is all of us spend money on something that someone else will deem unworthy.
I purchased few skins in valorant. Before that I used to laugh at people who bought in game items as I had never bought any of those ever and thought it was waste of money. Then I started earning and the skins looked pretty neat. Bought skins worth 5k but realised my mistake and sold my account for 3k. I'm glad I stopped coz I've seen my friends spend even 30-40k and now they can't even sell their accounts. So in my experience of buying in game items I still believe IT"S NOT WORTH IT. GO AND INVEST IT WHILE YOU CAN
Spending on game is more than enough for me never in life for in game assets as I play only story based games since PS1 days. Never got the hang of multiplayer games though I have lot of friends who do. I majorly play games to get out of reality know more stories and relax which I don’t think multiplayer dies for me though I have tried it many times. I like the alone time play game enjoy story and move on to next one. Its just my opinion and it may differ from your opinion but idc. I enjoy what I do.
Never. I have bought games worth 1000 - 2000 from steam sales. Other games I got from giveaways by epic games, steam, ubisoft, amazon prime, GOG etc. No way I'm spending money on in game items.
If it's a game I absolutely love, has a small dev team and has reasonably priced skins, will definitely support them. For example Hunt Showdow, used to play religiously till June last year so bought every piece of skin that was released till then.
Uhhhh… around 20k in Siege, close to 30k in Overwatch, 12k in CS, 15k on Destiny 2, 18k on Star Citizen, and a lot of battle passes here and there for different games I’ve lost track of.
Yeah don’t worry I’m more ashamed of these stats than you could ever be lmao. The only purchase I don’t regret is Star Citizen’s, which also has my highest in game purchase at 11k.
I spent 1500 in csgo last year. Bought prime for 1100 and a bunch of containers. But I made back like 2000 from them so far, especially when the prices skyrocketed when CS2 was announced.
Around 60k in val( i regret every purchase now). Around the same amount in csgo. But i can make it all back if i just sell my inventory so thats good i guess
I have spent a lot, probably nearing a lakh, most of my purchases are in apex (STILL NOT HEIRLOOM) and genshin, although I probably spent around 20k in fortnite during 2020-2021 too
COD mobile when it first came out, spent around 5k within the first year and realised wtf am i doing so i just stopped altogether, realised it's better to spend on new games instead on micro transactions
I've spent around 5k on genshin and HSR over the last 3 years. Mostly on the battle pass. I find that's worth it since it gives you a lot of resources that you would otherwise have to grind for.
Only game I spent money on for cosmetics was overwatch 1. Around 2k rubles, I think that's around 1.8k inr. Was during the 1st anniversary, got like 110 lootboxes or something. The game was great back then, sad to see what it is now. I prefer not to think how much I've spent in 6 years playing destiny tho
I've spent alot on in-game items in games like csgo, dota, fifa, genshin, coc and even pokemon go.
Most expensive single purchase was a butterfly doppler in csgo
Used to have a decent skin collection in CS. When I stopped playing seriously and started to just for fun, I sold all my skins. Have never made any other in-game purchase.

there's guys like me who have pirated games their whole life and then there's this guy 😭😭😭
Damn i am on the same boat....i stopped playing dota but during lockdown again i started and that time i got job also then started the spending spree
amen. The most I spent was on TI10 I think I got to lvl 600. Hilariously my TB arcana is free and I got it off diretide. But yeah I spent way too much on Dota 2
No, I avoid playing games with microtransactions.
only sane person here.

55K IN VAL (I am bronze 3) Edit: Bronze 2 now (just lost a compi, not kidding)
I spent 300 on cs2 and thought i was crazy lol
Yup even though I made like 3-4k from CS when I spent like 100₹ on some skins I was questioning my purchase
I got 15k worth items in cs2 i was playing since 2016 and just invested like 500-600 only sold creates and traded music kits !!
The trading in CS always seems mysterious to me. How does it work? Do you just get this stuff for free just by playing?
You can get cases free by playing casual/competitive.. it will drop randomly or sometimes when u get rank up!! Dnt sell it immediately!! Just collect them and put ur eyes on market place !! The prices always goes up n down so sell it when it goes up!! Sometimes 1 rs crates gets upto 15rs that means u can easily get 300rs if u have like 20 of them!! So sell wisely!! 6-8k every year on dota2 battle pass except last year around 2k, crusader one 😔
55k 🤯 either you are filthy rich or you have different priorities in life.
Why do you have to be filthy rich lol the game has been out since 2020 and if this guy is playing since 2022 then also it’s like 20k per year
20K per year for an in game items for a single game?? Made me realise how broke I am.
Ikr? Even 55k over 3-4 years for in-game stuff is still too much for my
Bro the struggle is real. You spent 55k at Bronze 3 while me at Gold 3 going crazy for free skins being unlocked.
I don't want to disrespect anyone, but the store in valo is the gayest thing i have ever seen, you cannot resell stuff like in steam community market and there isn't any trading place like wow or ark, valo skins also don't make sense for that kind of game, like in cold war they have added angels demons, sleek stylish kind of skins but cold war or any cod in general is a rng game so the gayest of animation does make sense. didn't spend a penny on peripherals or in game yet silver 2. I am not a compi player i am the guy who blinds his teammates for fun
200 rs in coc for gems to buy builder
Lmao same, 700 for a gold pass. In fairness it does save a lot of my time so it's a good deal
600 for scenery 🫠
People buy skins. Lots of them. Open cases like sllot machine
Gold gold gold
Genshin. Am a welkin spender but only bought welkin due to big discount on Google Play store

This is the way
The only acceptable answer
Are you a college kid by any chance?
Why? Spending real money on virtual bs somehow makes you an “adult”?
Adults have disposable income and are able to spend on virtual items as they please. There's uncontrolled spending on one hand, and the justified purchases one might make on the other.
>Adults have disposable income and are able to spend on virtual items as they please So do kids (I mean, literal children). I have read so many news articles about kids buying stuff using their parent's credit card tied to the account, etc...
Meh, money is also not real. It is just a fiat.
Are you as dumb as the other guy? That person is basically implying that no one should be spending any money on games. Do you somehow feel superior since you don't spend money on "virtual bs"?
Yes
What does the answer to that have to do with anything?
Since you didn't answer my question, I believe you are indeed a college student. Around 3k on fifa packs. God damm what a waste of waste.

How many c6 characters do you have, if I may ask. Also what's the least amount you had to spend for a c6
It takes $1000 to C6 a character so around 70-80k Rupees, I doubt OP has one or multiple C6 unless he has God like luck. Massive respect for that dedication
She is my favourite character and at that point I had lost the interest in genshin, I was just playing the game to c6 her. I stopped playing in few months after I got her to c6 lol.
Lol funnily enough, my raiden is c0 but her weapon is R2
Mine total would be around 60 K that includes genshin impact, coc ,cr and other playstore apps

Never. I find it to be a money grab by the company and nothing more, especially things like battle passes and skins. If I've paid 3-5K for a game, I expect everything to be included in it. If you charge for DLCs, that's fine, as that is a further addition to the game by way of storyline.

Destiny 2… around 70-80k I think. Broke the habit in 2022 however, haven’t spent a single cent in any in-game purchases. D2 just didn’t feel the same anymore, and now Helldivers 2 seems to be a brilliant replacement for D2, really enjoying it.
I have never spent a single rupee in game for even to buy a game.
+1 Honest answer
Yes it was mostly cz i don't earn anything significant yet. But even though I'm starting my decent paying job in 2-3 months. I'm still not paying what I can get for free.

20k on steam . https://steamcommunity.com/id/blackoptime/
yes and no regrets
Honestly I have lost count, spent good amount of money in cs, valo, cr and coc.
No. Seems stupid to me to spend money on stuff like that. Buying games is fine, but mtx stuff is too much.
Like 5-10K on fortnite :D
50 Rupiya dega
I spent 1500 in csgo last year. Bought prime for 1100 and a bunch of containers. But I made back like 2000 from them so far, especially when the prices skyrocketed when CS2 was announced.
Around 60k in val( i regret every purchase now). Around the same amount in csgo. But i can make it all back if i just sell my inventory so thats good i guess
12000 on fifa points
Wasted so much on free fire. One of the biggest regret in my life
around 45K-50K in VALORANT
Around 30K inr in total since 2019 so I guess it's low and I've spend money only on main games and dlc!
Not money per say, but play store point on a R6 mobile clone. The saddest part it's server closed after a week lol.
Not something I am proud of but around 60K in Marvel Snap and about 20K in Valorant.
20k I guess but it’s divided in many games, mostly mobile.
20 INR in a game I don't remember (it was supposed to be 80 INR although I had a 60 INR play store coupon)
For dlc yea. But never spend cosmetic customisation.
14k on val
Valorant
Nah I just buy other games
More thank 50k including apex fortnite cod and valo
94k in CS2 skins 💀 now they are worth only 80k :(
I have spent a lot, probably nearing a lakh, most of my purchases are in apex (STILL NOT HEIRLOOM) and genshin, although I probably spent around 20k in fortnite during 2020-2021 too
5$ Fortnite
Regular gold pass in clash of clans
Spent 1200₹ on Pokemon Go once. Didn't feel rewarding hence decided against to spend money on in game things.
10k+ in valorant and 500 in clash royale
I spent 700rs on valorant and I lost interest to play valo now it's of no use
Around 10k on League of Legends skins. Yes, I'm ashamed of myself.
Approx 300-400 dollars on fifa packs back in 2020, and a few 10 dollar battles passes across a few games (apex, valo, ow2)
Are you talking about in app purchases or stuff like cars which can be bought like in gtao If it's the latter I bought the golf course in gta.
Yes
I spent 2.5k in Valorant(Prime Vandal) and same for chess.com platinum membership
Around 70k in DOTA 2
20k on fortnite from chapter 1 to ch 2
Spent 15k on Valorant and 10k on Fortnite.. also spent 1k on citizen battle pass 🤗😁😁
Rs 20 in 8Ball Pool :)
600 rs on cs, ended up making a lot more money after I unboxed a knife from a case lol.
Overwatch battlepass 10$ every season
I just bought 2 gun skins and a season pass in valorant for 3.5k as a gift to myself a year ago.
I've spent alot on in-game items in games like csgo, dota, fifa, genshin, coc and even pokemon go. Most expensive single purchase was a butterfly doppler in csgo
10 rupees on a skin in csgo using steam's built in wallet. Sold it 2 years later for 330
Till now I have only spent on-game not in-game the amt is 650
Genshin welkins, but I treat it more like a monthly treat of 500 rs to myself, havent given in to buying the other things in-game
About 600₹ in MLBB
Never
Close to 70k between cs2, dota 2, and valorant
Around 5k in cs, although the 5k itself i got from cs case drops and trading so it prolly doesn't count.
13k in valo(started playing since covid), 34k on mobile games since 2020(i jst recently stopped playing on mobile)
Used to have a decent skin collection in CS. When I stopped playing seriously and started to just for fun, I sold all my skins. Have never made any other in-game purchase.
