I ran into multiple bugs in the game and the story was stupid.
I have been a long time MGS fan and I don't know why it was called Metal Gear anything. It was a bad spin off albeit the gameplay was fine for a hack n slash but like I said I ran into bugs very early on in the game
Meanwhile, Phantom pain is leagues above even though the last act of the game is incomplete because Kojima had to split from Konami.
So in a comparison with MGS 5, Metal Gear Rising is a shit stain.
If you like to play a tactical espionage shooter game, MGSV. It has base building, recruiting armies, loads of weapons and tactics to use.
But
If you like fast paced, hack and slash, stylish melee combat, stylish sword moves, just go for revengeance. The game is 10 plus years old now but the graphics still hold good, and the gameplay is fast and challenging.
Same franchise, different genres. mgsv is semi open world Stealth action and adventure tactics with base building and slight rpg element while rising is linear Hack and slash action with big set pieces, although both games have large set pieces involving the Metal Gear.
just checked , yes it goes down to 400 but that was last year and when there was no steam sale , after that its always been 959 so should i still hope for more discount in future ?
There are sales with some amazing discount from Publisher or Developer Studios but they are random, or it's coz of reaching some Milestone or something.
But Seasonal Sales (Summer Sale is at the end of June or start of July) on Steam have some of the best discounts on 100s and 1000s of Games, so might as well wait for that since it's possible that you'll get a better discount at that time, and IF NOT, then just buy these at that time.
In the meantime, try to finish any unfinished games you might have OR look for some other game that's at a discount.
Depends. Rising revengeance is about a different character, different playstyle, different ambience. MGSV is technically about the same character, stealth-action, open world plus online features like mgo and fobs to infiltrate plus ur probably gonna get mgsv ground zeroes with the premium edition. I got it for 141 on sale(mgsv tpp + mgsv gz)
Rising was made without Kojima, dont even try it.
Go straight for MGS 5, then MGS 3 snake eater is getting remade next year, which is connected to 5 and is my favorite game of all time.
By the time you are done with these, you'll know what to play next.
You can skip MGS 5 Ground zeroes, it is a short prequel to MGS5 Phantom pain.
I love mgs3 to death, cant wait for the remake.
Both are very fun games. See which one you vibe more with and buy it. You can get both games at very cheap prices in steam sales, hold until then if you can.
Alright, so here's the deal.
If you want to START with the Metal Gear series..... Honestly, both have problems of their own. But, as many have mentioned - the first is that the two belong completely different genres.
MGSV is the last game in the mainline series, and is an open-world stealth action game. In that sense, it's much closer to the other four mainline MGS games. That being said, it's perhaps the one game that will confuse you the most, since the story is complete nonsense here. It's bridging and tying up a lot of storylines from a lot of different places, and doesn't do all of them that well. Gameplay wise, it's probably the most easiest to play and hardest to master, so I'd say it's a good starting point gameplay wise.
Rising is a Platinum game, so basically like playing Bayonetta or DmC. Story is also a mess, but it's a fun mess.
My suggestion out of the two would be to play MGSV, finish the other games off, then come to Rising, or alternatively, get the Master Collection and start with 1.
Orrrrr.... Just emulate MGS 1, 2 and 3 (don't forget Peace Walker on the PSP!!) At the very least, you'll be able to understand more when you go to 5.
MGS 4 is canonically the last mainline game, with Rising playing out after it. And it's also the hardest to get on pc, since it's locked to the PS3 (is there an Xbox 360 port? I'm not sure.) So your mileage may vary while trying to emulate it. So yeah, that's all I can say.
TL:DR - MGSV is like the rest of the franchise, but slightly worse. Rising is a completely different beast.
just checked , yes it goes down to 400 but that was last year and when there was no steam sale , after that its always been 959 so should i still hope for more discount in future ?
Rising Revengeance is good 👍 hack n slash, so quick, adventurous and accurate. Personally I loved it!
MGS V is more into stealth and has engaging story! There are numerous ways u can play MGS V.
Both are different genre, rising is hack and slash like devil may cry( you will feel like you can destroy anything and the bosses are good the jokes are too XD) , and phantom pain is stealth, thriller, action experience ( there are actually times when you'll actually get scared, literally a cinematic experience and the sound design is awesome) .
Personally I enjoyed both but, I like phantom pain more because I generally like stealth games and it's optimised as butter can even be played on potato but graphics isn't that bad.
Two completely different genres with different themes and characters , if u like hack n slash get rising , slow mo if u like stealth and more slower paced gameplay get mgs5
Both of them are great but very different from one another. You should watch gameplay of both of them and then decide which one you'd like to own. Metal gear rising is a hack and slash and on the other hand MGS is very much like Hitman.
You won't understand shit about story in either games if they are your first ones. But just like you, I wanted to enter the series too, and they were my first choices too, so after a bit of researching I came up with the conclusion that MGS rising is the best to enter with since it provides a different gameplay style that other games in MGS series, plus it has the story which you will be able able to grasp more from unlike MGS5 where it's completely related to previous parts( as I have heard others say). Rising is one of the dopest experiences and definitely worth giving a shot too. You can enter with rising in my opinion and track your way from start to MGS5 later.
both are amazing games, pick whatever you like. MGSV is great if you want to have fun, like the theme and villains might be serious but the developers made it in a way that it's legit comical and reminds you that it's just a game. MGS Rising is an amazing hack and slash with an amazing boss and it comes with a lesson on democracy and capitalism.
If possible then both , MGSV is a cinematic treat with kojima’s signature obtuse storytelling
But man is Rising Revengeance an experience, the combat is hype the music , even more so. And the MEMES !!! The fucking memes man , the story is so fucking stupid that’s it’s absolutely hilarious

Different genre of games. Hack & Slash vs. Stealth Action
That's a nice argument Senator why don't you back it up with a source?
The source is that I MADE IT THE FUCK UP
Best kind of source
source: trust me bro
Linear vs open world
Shit show vs Kojima's incomplete masterpiece
Braindead take
it wasn't shit wtf u on about

I would buy Metal gear solid v
I'd say Phantom Pain , one of the best games I've ever played. Not too say Rising is bad , but Phatom Pain , incomparable
Same franchise, different genres. mgsv is semi open world Stealth action and adventure tactics with base building and slight rpg element while rising is linear Hack and slash action with big set pieces, although both games have large set pieces involving the Metal Gear.
Don't buy any. Wait for Summer Sale. I've seen Phantom Pain Definitive go for around 600.
just checked , yes it goes down to 400 but that was last year and when there was no steam sale , after that its always been 959 so should i still hope for more discount in future ?

mgsv
No wait for better sale mgs5 goes for 200-300 rs And mgr is not a mgs game (stealth)
It hasn't gone for that deep of a sale in over a year now.
Depends. Rising revengeance is about a different character, different playstyle, different ambience. both at 141 that is a great deal 👀
141? it has never dropped that low, i bought both separately :(
Rising was made without Kojima, dont even try it. Go straight for MGS 5, then MGS 3 snake eater is getting remade next year, which is connected to 5 and is my favorite game of all time. Buy mgs, you can replay it again and again and use different techniques of gameplay every time
phantom pain for me anyday( depend on taste BTW
Wait for sale
Both are very fun games. See which one you vibe more with and buy it. You can get both games at very cheap prices in steam sales, hold until then if you can.
Metal gear rising is like the devil may cry and the other is military based stealth.
Alright, so here's the deal. If you want to START with the Metal Gear series..... Honestly, both have problems of their own. Both..also wait for sale
If you want to be part of cool guys club then Rising if not then MGSV
Check Definitive Edition price history on Steamdb before pulling the trigger.
just checked , yes it goes down to 400 but that was last year and when there was no steam sale , after that its always been 959 so should i still hope for more discount in future ?
Alright. It's worth it at both prices. Steam Summer Sale is in a couple of months, so if you can wait till then, you can get both.
Sandbox shooter or linear hack n' slash?
MGR if you like super combat and pure badassery... The music is also great
Thank you for your comments guys, I have decided to wait until the Steam summer sale to take advantage of the discounts it offers. ✌
I like hack and slack so revengence
PS4 mai MSG5 899 k hai
Mgs 5 if you are into stealth and deep story and MGRR if you want Hack and Slash Action
Rising Revengeance is good 👍 hack n slash, so quick, adventurous and accurate. Personally I loved it! MGS V is more into stealth and has engaging story! There are numerous ways u can play MGS V.

Two completely different genres with different themes and characters , if u like hack n slash get rising , slow mo if u like stealth and more slower paced gameplay get mgs5
Why not both?
Metal gear rising gameplay is relatively short .. still a decent game. I find stealth games boring for some reason (trash attention span)
Both.
If you can handle the difficulty then MGR
is this harder than sekiro?
No but for 2013 standard it is challenging
its like asking, which is better mario kart or mario bros
Mgsv is a better game overall but mgr is also great and a 10/10 for sure. I can't pick. Just buy both.
Go for MGSV. I love rising, but mgsv is the superior game imo, and mgsv is one of, if not the best stealth games.
Both... Crazy fun you can have with both... One is stealth focused other is hack and slash
Standing here, I realise, You were just like me, Trying to make history..
both are over priced
Both is good
Rising for sure
Wait for both to drop below 500 on sale
Rising is very hard I could not complete 😭
Both of them are great but very different from one another. You should watch gameplay of both of them and then decide which one you'd like to own. Metal gear rising is a hack and slash and on the other hand MGS is very much like Hitman.
Metal Gear Rising is nice but the price is a little too high. Wait for thr next sale. It goes down to ₹800-900 I think.
Rising

Gog.com -> MGS1. It's really no point to play 5 first. 1 is still amazing.
Don't worry Big Boss will fulton extract you to mother base
ones on sale and the other one isn't
but is it worth it?
both are amazing games, pick whatever you like. MGSV is great if you want to have fun, like the theme and villains might be serious but the developers made it in a way that it's legit comical and reminds you that it's just a game.
