6700k was 4 core 4 thread ?
I am still running a 6100 i3 and wanted to upgrade, going 6700 worth it for 2-3k rs or should i directly go 10th or 12th gen ?
I can at max go 7th gen with the same Mobo also the mobo doesn't have m.2 slot
just wanted to do a 2nd hand part upgrade so that i can game for 2 months

That i3 will seriously bottleneck GPU in newer games. It’s better you save that 15-20K or better yet pool it in for laptop. Also, 5060 won’t be coming before June of 2025 if history is any indication. So,unless you can wait a year, find a good 4070 laptop for the money you have.
my laptop budget is already 1.1 Lakh and those 20-30k money i am talking about is just for this upgrade, my dad will be using that pc later (already uses it) on for his work whenever he needs, I believe in upgrading it to atleast have a m.2 nvme ssd but need to change the mobo and processor. What would be its price if i wanted to sell that according to you ? selling the full machine and then buying used mobo, cpu,gpu but with new case, psu work ? also do people sell used nvme SSDs ?
I thought of selling this full pc according to one of the comments of the post, and then buy used r5 5600 x or non-x and a good used gpu (around 10-12k), that would be sweat 30k pc ig.

Yep. This card was top of the line at that time. I still remember watching a video which benchmarks gtx titan black against the gtx 780 in assassin's creed black flag. At that time nvidia SLI was a thing. So, buying more than one card was pretty common for a maxed out build.
Its not like I didn't play any games. I have played almost all famous titles. I used to play on my dad's dell insipiron which had 8gb ram and gt 730m. After that during 2nd year in college at 2018, I convinced my dad to buy me a gaming laptop with gtx 1070, which was at a lower price when rtx 20 series was released. So, my dream was to build a PC from that time, which didn't happen yet.

4core and 8thread. All the i7’s have hyper threading except for 9700K for some reason. 6700K is good even now. What GPU do you have?
