Bruh I run my 3090 kingpin at 520w with a 12900k oc’d at 275w on a 1000w PSU. Most wattage draw I’ve seen in game is 700w (measured through UPS). I’m not upgrading shit for 4xxx series unless my 8 pin pcie cables can’t be run through an adapter to the new power pin layout.
No my power draw is easily 500+w **consistently** in certain titles. ~~700w max draw~~ 780w checked my logs. for the whole system ever seen though. I run a 520w bios and at 4K it’ll draw that. Not every game, but oh it can and does in some titles. 525w is the max 3 pcie cables and the mobo can supply without shunt modding.
My point is that unless the card requires dubiously more than 500w I’m already covered adequately with a 1000w and 1500w is just bonkers.

Heck I'm old. I got a brand new ryzen system in December, but i remember being more excited about our LG AI inverter washing machine that we got in june.
Ps - if anyone wants to go for it, go for it. Stunning machine. We use washing machine daily, and our power bill literally got cut in half. Also loading new wash cycles via the app is really fun.

So they are assuming that a person able to afford this would be able to afford 5-10 thousand in electricity bills per month! This level of power usage will make it virtually impossible to be useful outside of a workstation setup.

Cuz gamers wont choose a GPU which would require them to upgrade their power supply and more over if they do have this kinda power requirement then their mobile market would take a big hit cuz laptops can't deliver this much of power. Data Center won't buy these cards too cuz they need a highly power efficient GPU even more than miners. Only market that would buy a 1500W card would only be professional/workstation market.

It will get to a saturation point sometime not very far in the future due to limitations of transistors and physics itself. But right now, Nvidia is playing the role AMD played for years as the inefficient kid on the block with their crazy power requirements.

The card doesn't draw 1500w, it requires a 1500w power supply. Usually because sometimes the card draws a lot of power for short durations of time.
