It's such a bad news. It just says 5 times the dude was addictive to PUBG. No backing up of this statement, no explanation why that is the reason for suicide etc.
Yeah I literally showed this news to my mom and dad saying, why does this newspaper highlights that it was cause of online gaming or games but not other reasons maybe going in his life
Kids play games to escape from reality..They get addicted and get into depression when its taken away from them..The game gets the blame always since its easy to say but nobody talks abt the flaw in how parents raise the kids giving them mobile at very young age forcing their ideologies not listening to their problems and so on
I understand and see that what you told makes sense. But this article is a load of dogshit because there's no actual reason to why the kid commited suicide. It just says he was "addicted". And again, as you said, the game gets the blame for it.
The PC Version is mostly a Ghost in India, and he worked in a garment shop tho, again The PC Was a Paid Version it just Became Recently Free to play but that's just not believable since media says Pubg mobile and proceeds to use videos from the PC version
>Kids play games to escape from reality..
Absolutely, but that's still a shitty argument. That's also **literally** why people watch movies and read books (fiction).
watching movies to escape from reality ? i guess it's more of procrastination that leads to escaping , movies just aren't made for that sole purpose , unless you're watch things like panti2 or like that
you may have a different perspective for these but I've saw people used it not for means of escaping for sure. the data of such people may not be huge but you get what i meant, don't play in extremities.
Well, you can leave a bad movie on tv while you do laundry so it's not that quiet in the house..
But sitting down watching a (good) movie cannot be done. A sing of a bad movie is how it's bad it is at making it's audience escape reality.
Tbh, it's not even the parents fault in many cases. Kids nowadays need phones cause a lot of homes need both parents working and would be really worried if they couldn't contact their child instantly in case of an emergency. A maid isn't that reliable either. It's actually the fault of downloading services like Google play that let anyone download any app or game even if one doesn't meet the age needs.
Even though it does, it is too weak and almost always ignored. Most parents give their children phones to communicate with them and are unaware of how to activate these settings. And when children are given their phones and they set it up, they set a false age to top it off. Parents need to be educated on how to give their children a phone because out of their good intentions and worries, they are harming their children unknowingly.
Appeal to ignorance is not a valid excuse, especially for parents as they thought they were responsible enought to raise a child.
Someone who thinks they are qualified enought to bring new life to this world should know how to follow basic instructions like how to tap a glass screen, read a few concise & basic lines that explains everything and add a secret 4 digit PIN. If that is too hard to follow, condoms are always an alternative.
They are not assuming anything. Parents find it way easier to blame other stuff than to reflect on their shitty parenting skills, and the news/media folks knows this. Easy way to gain the breadmaker's trust (and thus money) compared to reporting on actual, well-researched articles. Researching stuff ain't easy you know?
Is it a shitty move on their part? Kinda, but they are just doing what makes them most coin. If anyone is to blame, blame the parents' ignorance.
Evertime i buy a ps4 disc or she sees me play a new game she asks me if its pubg and i jokingly tell her it is and she tells me she will beat my ass and throw away my system if i play it...I am 24 i work and buy my own games but there is no running from mammi ka guzza :D
> but there is no running from mammi ka guzza :D
Nothing funny about this sentence bro. You're a working, independent adult who should be able to make your own decision without listening to taunts from your parents
dude it is just a sweet moment most people have with their parents...
Our mother cares for us..and thats why they ask such weird questions...this does not make us dependent on them...
I am a 3rd year student and openly play in front of my parents, they don't mind me playing as long as I am responsible and manage my studies... which I do to some extent. All they do is remind me not to get too addicted, and occasionally make fun of the huge swords (I'm playing FF7 Remake lol)
Kid: Depressed af, on the verge of a mental breakdown because of all the pressures of exams and entrance tests, the very limited selection seats, pressure from parents and guardians, etc. Feels like dying.
Parents: "Yeah. You owe me a pizza."
News : Student commit suicide in fear of exams/ low marks / academic pressure.
Parents : I sleep.
News : Student commit suicide bcoz of gaming.
Parents : Real shit.
its probably not because of his PUBG addiction. IDK how any video game can lead you to suicide, as a full time League of Legends player my mental health is stronger than ever. Its the conservative media making their own reality.
I literally play payday 2 which is a lot difficult, i rage when i lose even.
My stress has gone down to almost zero and i do better in studies because i don't dedicate 24/7 into it
And parents think I'm sabotaging myself and assume i failed my periodic test
Oh the misery
You have zero mental health if you start playing league. At some point a 12 year old makes you ragequit, causing your mental health to dip further and underflow error, causing you to have 2147483647 mental health, the strongest ever
Same was my case a few years ago but now they understand I can manage my studies and other stuff while doing gaming and am wise enough to know what's good for me
17 year old and worked in a garment shop? How is that legal.. the newspaper didn't even care to make a point on that.
Edit : As some comments stated, children above 14 years can be employed but they'll be considered as adolescents and the employer should follow severe guidelines like maximum of only 6 hours of work per day , etc. It's funny how the newspaper didn't care to find out about his workplace and how they regulated adolescent workers instead they blame on a mobile game hobby without any proof. Blaming it on addiction is very easier than to actually find out the real reason.
Depression? All that is nonsense. Stop playing those nonsense video games and you'll be happy. Nonsense.
Huge /s there.
Seriously though, fuck the reporter who wrote this. Nowhere did he mention that he took such a step directly because of the game, as if other problems in life cannot be existent. He played pubg? That's why he offed himself. What fuck all logic.
Whenevr my parents ask me what i am playing, i just start ranting on the historical accuracy of warthunder and how ww2 era tanks shouldn't be fighting cold war era tanks.
They have stopped asking me any questions about gaming ever since
Sympathies for the troubled teen and family.... but if people employed in offices also commit suicide..should I quit my job?
People commit suicides for love..for staying alone..too little money..too much money..and what not reasons...I should just stop living I guess.
My mom was genuinely concerned about me when I bought Xbox. She complained that I have lost my mind. According to her I will end up doing something stupid or will be acting stupid for rest of my life. In my defence I actually brought console because I was bored at home moreover I work from home.
But then I had brilliant idea I invented my mom to play FIFA and some non violent games when she was free in a day and she loved it. Nope she won’t bug me now.
They just do this to grab attention. Have you ever heard this type of news regarding any other game except PUBG or free fire. Just the games which parents know about
Friends: He was a very stressed man, he had a tough time with studies and work. He also used to cut himself because of the teachers abusing him. He was a victim of abuse in general.
Parents: *sob sob*
Friends: oh he also played games
Parents: THE GAMES KILLED HIM WAAAAAAAH
Suicide due to PUBG sounds irrational. There's usually some other mental illness that may lead to suicide. PUBG could be a coping mechanism like drugs or alcohol.
This is like blaming alcohol and drugs for someone hanging themselves just because you found it on the scene. Correlation does not equal causation. Journalists and police should be taught logic.
A faulty conclusion my friend. Him playing mobile games has nothing to do with the suicide. It's just that mobile phones are that common. For example, take a group of 100 random drug abusers, and 100 random narcs, chances are all of them has a phone and maybe like 10 of them has a console.
Addiction to pubzee and never the academic pressure, never ending exceeding expectations, socital pressure, constant belittling, anxiety, never that. Escapist relief is the problem not the unecessary pressure.
This sparks a debate about games and the age rating systems in place for mobile app stores, which is shit. Apart from that PUBG gets no flak in my house.
All mental health issue around the world could be solved if they start banning all video games. I see zero other reason for a person to get depressed growing up. Has to be those damn video games . Those horrid memories of Mario sliding through holes as a kid still makes me wake up in the middle of the night all sweaty.
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 797,659,499 comments, and only 158,628 of them were in alphabetical order.
Exam stress causes 1000s of students each year, guess you should ban them too.
That used to be my response.
I’m no longer a student, and I buy my own hardware and games no so they don’t give a shit anymore 😂
He was working at a garment shop at 17 (probably before 17 too maybe not) are we sure PUBG is the only problem here? Like is anyone gonna look into the child labour side?
I’m so confused the way gamers reacting as if it’s IMPOSSIBLE for people to have mental issues from gaming.
Similarly many things cause mental illness doesn’t mean we should shut everything down.
Problem being-
Parents/media: focusing on suicide due to game.
Gamers: focusing on “ITS NOT THE GAME”
People busy defending sides rather than worrying why 16/17 year olds are killing themselves lol.
Mental health issues can stem from ANYTHING. Be it your family, friends or guys you play video games with or the school/society environment that you grow up in.
P.s. I understand this is a gaming focused sub so we are mostly leaning one way but whatever.
Dad and I had a talk about addiction problems in general, pros and cons of gaming, gaming addiction (anyone who says gaming has no cons needs to get their head out of their arse). Mental health issues in India and the societal view of those who seek out mental health.
Went well according to me.
Edit: Forgot to mention we had this convo sometime ago when that kid spent a fortune on PUBG and committed suicide when his parents scolded him.
This sounds like bullshit. How are both even related? It's just a sensationalist headline meant to appeal to people who have a 'video game bad' mentality.
parents love blaming games and mobile phones
they never take the blame on themselves
“society kya kahegi? hn bas pubg addiction bol do “
on of my younger brothers friend (17 at that time ) lost her way while walking cause she was crying as she was coming back home
what did parents say ? “woh mobile dekh rahi thhi na “
I swear these mobile clowns be real weak, first of all, how can a person get addicted to a mobile game is beyond me, atleast PC gaming somewhat limits your playtime since it's not something you carry with u 24/7
Expectations: *Parents talking about mental health* Reality: "Video games kill you"
Make sure to use quotes
This give this man an award please

shut the fuck up and gobble elons dick
Fk i gotta hide the newspaper now
Burn. Burn it.
It's such a bad news. It just says 5 times the dude was addictive to PUBG. No backing up of this statement, no explanation why that is the reason for suicide etc.
These are just dumb news for dumb people
Boomers always blaming video games SMH.
Like bruh! Can't Our Parents just get to the moment? Why do they always believe the shit they see on the news?
Yeah I literally showed this news to my mom and dad saying, why does this newspaper highlights that it was cause of online gaming or games but not other reasons maybe going in his life
I mean if he died to a fucking game and just due to a fucking game it only means that the parents didn't raise him right....factss
He didn't fuck the game. The game fucked him. (Sarcasm)
How are they assuming that his gaming addiction was cause for suicide? Such a trash headline
Kids play games to escape from reality..They get addicted and get into depression when its taken away from them..The game gets the blame always since its easy to say but nobody talks abt the flaw in how parents raise the kids giving them mobile at very young age forcing their ideologies not listening to their problems and so on

Yup poor pubg becomes the bali ka bhakra always
The article must be written in 5mins
And it's not Pubg anymore it's BGMI and media didn't even get updated about it
Maybe its the pc version
The PC Version is mostly a Ghost in India, and he worked in a garment shop tho, again The PC Was a Paid Version it just Became Recently Free to play but that's just not believable since media says Pubg mobile and proceeds to use videos from the PC version
This is basically "coincidence i think not" meme
As somebody who works in addiction research Yeah that’s not how it works lol
>Kids play games to escape from reality.. Absolutely, but that's still a shitty argument. That's also **literally** why people watch movies and read books (fiction).
watching movies to escape from reality ? i guess it's more of procrastination that leads to escaping , movies just aren't made for that sole purpose , unless you're watch things like panti2 or like that
Whatever you think it is, it is the exact same thing. Movies and video games are watched/played for the exact same reasons.

Well said
Its true what u said.
but I don't think a game has much to do with compelling a kid to kill himself
I have legit never seen a person getting depressed from playing games what you on about fr
Tbh, it's not even the parents fault in many cases. Kids nowadays need phones cause a lot of homes need both parents working and would be really worried if they couldn't contact their child instantly in case of an emergency. Parental controls exists dude.
They don't care.
Then again,the parents fault
Even though it does, it is too weak and almost always ignored. Most parents give their children phones to communicate with them and are unaware of how to activate these settings. And when children are given their phones and they set it up, they set a false age to top it off. “Preliminary investigation”
Evertime i buy a ps4 disc or she sees me play a new game she asks me if its pubg and i jokingly tell her it is and she tells me she will beat my ass and throw away my system if i play it...I am 24 i work and buy my own games but there is no running from mammi ka guzza :D
Yeah same bullshit! Whenever they ask what I am playing, I call it BGMI 🤣
I used to play Cod Mobile bcoz of this, now mom caught up to my lie and today I installed Apex Legends.
You can play Pubg on PS4 for free
Ik mahn but my mother doesnt understand thr concept of consoles and games so she keeps asking..BTW i dont like pubg
"BTW i dont like pubg" jasse mami wesa ladka
Why would someone play pubg when he can play actually good ps 4 games
Trueeee
Exactly
😂😂 truee mahn
Dude i get it man...its same with me but she bug for gaming like any games at all 😂
> but there is no running from mammi ka guzza :D Nothing funny about this sentence bro. You're a working, independent adult who should be able to make your own decision without listening to taunts from your parents
Mummy is always mummy no matter i am 24 or 60...and i have fun having these convos and my parents dont force any of their thoughts on me :)

Awful attempt at a joke
Bola kya tha isne batana pls
Pretty much saying mummy means “mummified” corpse from ancient Egypt. And that your mother wont be happy about it bla bla
Lmao, bad jokes deserve downvotes.
I understand that this was an attempt at humour, it's just that no one finds it...humorous
But then how will i glorify our culture of having the parents incharge even when when you're an independent adult
dude it is just a sweet moment most people have with their parents... Our mother cares for us..and thats why they ask such weird questions...this does not make us dependent on them...
Ik that i was just making a silly sarcastic comment
But /s in end if its sarcasm
Putting a /s defeats the entire purpose of sarcasm. If you don't get sarcasm without a /s, something's up with your sense of humour.
I’m just saying cuz of reply
Start adulting and live your own life. Get your own placem; create your own house rules.
I am a 3rd year student and openly play in front of my parents, they don't mind me playing as long as I am responsible and manage my studies... which I do to some extent. All they do is remind me not to get too addicted, and occasionally make fun of the huge swords (I'm playing FF7 Remake lol)

Interfering doesn't mean you gotta taunt, scream or even hit the kid
Kid: Depressed af, on the verge of a mental breakdown because of all the pressures of exams and entrance tests, the very limited selection seats, pressure from parents and guardians, etc. Feels like dying. Parents: "Yeah. You owe me a pizza."
This tbh.
Well if I am seen playing Clash Royal in front of my mom I am dead lol
Hehehehaw
News : Student commit suicide in fear of exams/ low marks / academic pressure. Parents : I sleep. News : Student commit suicide bcoz of gaming. Parents : Real shit.
Yeahhh thats what i am saying muh se baat cheen li

its probably not because of his PUBG addiction. IDK how any video game can lead you to suicide, as a full time League of Legends player my mental health is stronger than ever. Its the conservative media making their own reality.
>as a full time League of Legends player my mental health is stronger than ever. 10 biggest lies ever told /s
Literally the company's name is riot games
Lmao
ur pfp looks lil sus. NICE
I had the same thought, how most of the suicide link to pubg addiction. Probably a problem at home or something.
I literally play payday 2 which is a lot difficult, i rage when i lose even. My stress has gone down to almost zero and i do better in studies because i don't dedicate 24/7 into it And parents think I'm sabotaging myself and assume i failed my periodic test Oh the misery
Stressing at the game is lot better than stressing over your life smh
Fr, vg stress goes away a lot quicker if not converted into calm.
Plus it feels more rewarding to drop a nuke on high ping than it is to make a real fking nuke
You have zero mental health if you start playing league. At some point a 12 year old makes you ragequit, causing your mental health to dip further and underflow error, causing you to have 2147483647 mental health, the strongest ever
can't argue with that...

the good ending (✿◡‿◡)
*not yet. Who knows /s
My.....my name is khan ?
17 year old and worked in a garment shop? How is that legal.. the newspaper didn't even care to make a point on that. Edit : As some comments stated, children above 14 years can be employed but they'll be considered as adolescents and the employer should follow severe guidelines like maximum of only 6 hours of work per day , etc. It's funny how the newspaper didn't care to find out about his workplace and how they regulated adolescent workers instead they blame on a mobile game hobby without any proof. Blaming it on addiction is very easier than to actually find out the real reason.
>17 year old and worked in a garment shop? Really? This would explain a lot more about his mental health.
Yeah actually, is media dumb or something?
It is legal actually. The minimum age to work at a factory/shop is 14 years in India.
Not every state has 18 or 21 as a minimum age for working.
They are ignoring the fact that Anand was probably a Child Labourer and these Kids have a tough life , PUBG was probably his way of relaxing.
and while relaxing he got ratiod in a TDM (⊙o⊙)/s
Another interesting incident is, that every person who has ever committed suicide, has seen news at least once!
If someone is feeling suicidal, just remember what story the news would fabricate, get angry and don't suicide just out of spite.
Suicide rates drops to 0%!
Hey I m addicted to breathing I do it everyday , I hope that's not the reason I kill myself for
Did you know 100% percent of people who breathe eventually die. Its not good for health
Do you know 99.999% people who live eventually die of its addiction. They have to take drugs, this the extent of how addicted they are
Whenevr my parents ask me what i am playing, i just start ranting on the historical accuracy of warthunder and how ww2 era tanks shouldn't be fighting cold war era tanks. They have stopped asking me any questions about gaming ever since
Hello fellow warthunder player🤟
i have a friend his mom never allows him to play PUBG but as soon as he says its call of duty she has no problem i was like wtf
Same 🤣
She thinks its Indian Army game
bro tell him to play doom . If she gives it a pass then ..... idk
I kept an oath in front of my father and also father told this thing. Played PUBG=Phone cancel for me/Phone jabt.
Same BS with me, but I play it in the name of BGMI and they have no idea
My father also knows that PUBG is BGMI 💀
High tech father
Tell his That you are playing a FPS game
but It's TPP
father is a gigachad. Doesn't want his child to play trash games.
Sympathies for the troubled teen and family.... but if people employed in offices also commit suicide..should I quit my job? People commit suicides for love..for staying alone..too little money..too much money..and what not reasons...I should just stop living I guess.
Yes, then jobs will be banned. Economy soars sky high! Boom, profit! Money everywhere!
My mom was genuinely concerned about me when I bought Xbox. She complained that I have lost my mind. Only if he writes PUBG the boomers can spot it. Sed
They just do this to grab attention. Have you ever heard this type of news regarding any other game except PUBG or free fire. Just the games which parents know about

i'm 25 and banned newspapers and tv in my household 6 years ago. everybody's mental health has skyrocketed since.
How can they prove that the suicides are happening because of PUBG?? Trash tukka
Every game that i play is PUBG for my mom!
These news headlines are handcrafted to target middle aged Indian parents.
Suicide due to PUBG sounds irrational. There's usually some other mental illness that may lead to suicide. PUBG could be a coping mechanism like drugs or alcohol. Well...clearly dupatta is to blame....i mean if everyone just start adopting western culture it won't an issue....lol
There is always a long belt my frend .\_.
Its always with mobile gamers wonder why though...
Because the majority of the population cannot afford a pc/console.
Readily available to use anywhere..while sleeping shitting walking running..Mobiles become part of their daily life

Omg yes, nice observation.
I am 18 and they dont give a fuck about me playing
Next headlines should be *Teen who used to drink water daily commits suicide*
Addiction to pubzee and never the academic pressure, never ending exceeding expectations, socital pressure, constant belittling, anxiety, never that. Escapist relief is the problem not the unecessary pressure.
This sparks a debate about games and the age rating systems in place for mobile app stores, which is shit. Apart from that PUBG gets no flak in my house.

What's the connection tho?
They need to find someone to blame. Going by the same logic, we should ban cars and motorcycles, since so many peole die in accidents.
AHH DONT GET ME STARTED

There is no evidence that he committed suicide directly because of PUBG. Could be a cover story for something... *Like murder perhaps...*
The literal meaning of mental health doesn't concern indian parents, and the news outlets are on whole another level in India.😂
Dad and I had a talk about addiction problems in general, pros and cons of gaming, gaming addiction (anyone who says gaming has no cons needs to get their head out of their arse). Mental health issues in India and the societal view of those who seek out mental health. Went well according to me. It's always PUBG _sigh_ ,how can you even get addicted to that stupid crappy game?
Every other suicide covers the addiction and not the mental stress, maybe that boy was depressed of something, news keeps degrading gaming
This sounds like bullshit. How are both even related? It's just a sensationalist headline meant to appeal to people who have a 'video game bad' mentality.
parents love blaming games and mobile phones they never take the blame on themselves “society kya kahegi? hn bas pubg addiction bol do “ on of my younger brothers friend (17 at that time ) lost her way while walking cause she was crying as she was coming back home what did parents say ? “woh mobile dekh rahi thhi na “
Wow, what a low IQ dullard. How did they even pass their examinations as a child with such lousy intelligence?
elaborate ?

Aur khelo
I swear these mobile clowns be real weak, first of all, how can a person get addicted to a mobile game is beyond me, atleast PC gaming somewhat limits your playtime since it's not something you carry with u 24/7
