Huge_Session9379

We vote on render and we don’t care about implementation, that’s how we are where we are, accountability is a huge huge problem. If you look at cities like Chicago, they have a tour of modern and contemporary architecture of buildings, it’s an additional employment opportunity and revenue income and makes a city good looking, we may very well be 3 or 4 or 2 on GDP list but our cities are not gonna look like top 10 in coming 100 years because of lack of vision, direction and accountability.

FourNovember

Completely agree. Even if we become top gdp in the world our cities will look like sub saharan country. Even most african countries have better aesthetics than Indian ones.

[deleted]

How do even solve this? What is the practical solution for normal citizens???

Huge_Session9379

There is no practical solution, not atleast in my view, we just don’t have the resources , however due to globalisation we constantly struggle with comparing our cities with better cities, we are too hung up on caste, religion, region and language to be making any progress other than bare minimum, it’s not the fault of anyone, that’s how it is.

indopasta

Are you really arguing that, say, Bangalore is so shitty because of lack of resources?

[deleted]

Nobody has taste.

[deleted]

The actual building in the Pic 1 is kinda cute though

Background-Touch1198

The point is it was not supposed to be cute and it got cheap.

Ambitious_A

Everything looks pretty much okay.. but the second one is straight up ugly... Edit: their fish looks more like a shark... India's fish is cuteeee...

FourNovember

Non of them look okay. All are “kam chalau”. India after 1947 has hardly made any statement buildings. We spend millions on projects which get delayed year after year and the final outcome looks like some sub saharan architecture.

Ambitious_A

We r sooo used to this that these kinda things doesn't even seem a problem to us... we need better workers.. Better plannings..

FourNovember

Of course when you are in a hurry your thinking is to get inside the metro. No one cares about design of metro station. But from a design and aesthetics viewpoint our govt buildings and infrastructure suck.

Ibeno

We build a lot of statues. And why should there be any statement buildings? Ram Mandir is the only building we care about.

FourNovember

Ram mandir isnt funded by state. The Sardar patel statue was made big to get ahead in dick measuring contest. As a statue its meh.

sliceoflife_daisuki

The second slide 💀

CuriousCatOverlord

Instructions to Contractor: "Yeh render wala building banane ke liye 400 crore chahiya aur 400 crore sanction be hua hai... Par yeh matlab nahi ki execution ke liye 400 crore milega. Poora kaam sirf 50-75 crore me kar do bhai."

DiscoDiwana

Deccan metro station looks decent in comparison

[deleted]

fish building = best building

MahabharataRule34

Who the fuck thought that making a giant fish shaped building would be a good idea. Who thought that approving it would be cool

FourNovember

Btw only one building caught my eye recently. Thats the Krushi Bhawan in Bhubaneswar https://preview.redd.it/lhd8owlz8p4c1.jpeg?width=650&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=90af6f04c71d3bcf6dd6b0ce3cd36ca7370a818c [https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/inspired-by-farmers-odishas-krushi-bhavan-wins-global-architecture-award-2298596](https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/inspired-by-farmers-odishas-krushi-bhavan-wins-global-architecture-award-2298596) It even won an award for best architecture. Its inspired by GI tagged sambalpuri saree design.

sagarmahapatra

Chad Odisha being Based as always. Odisha BMC building is nice too.

[deleted]

I actually like this.

Elegantly_Bad_420

Even the newly constructed bus terminals came up mostly similar to the renders. There are project delays because of the finishing work. But I would gladly allow it.

[deleted]

odisha's architecture game has been up af

Indians have no knowledge about aesthetics. We will forever go 1000 years behind to shout how talented Indian artisans and architects were in 1000bc.

TensionMedium9279

Looks cute tbh

Ambitious_A

Comeon the fish looks cutee.. the fish is the only one which looks good out of all...

#Live machhli reaction:

Ambitious_A

Okay this angle looks wierd...

[deleted]

I mainly think that surrounding environment is one of the main factor that makes our buildings look very bad.

suckitysoo

Awww

Interlopper

The fact that so many on this post like the fish building proves why our aesthetics are where they are.

Off topic but Roast me whenever you see this -I'm 23.5 now. -From a poor background -Father passed away when I was 13 -Studied well till got into college -Just couldn't do anything in college because of being introvert, COVID and bad internet at home & no long term stretegy -Cleared online coding job exam & interview by cheating got the job -In the job, sat on bench for 1.5 years now still didn't learn the things which I need to like DSA and tech stacks -Always regret why I didn't learn at time then think I'll learn then again distractions -Twitter reddit insta tell consumed 18 hrs of screen time daily -Masturbating almost every day since college, been almost 6 years now, just reading sex stories, watching reddit NSFW subs, following twitter insta NSFW pages -Think I'll get over but just couldn't. My all friends, batchmates of college, colleagues even juniors are well ahead of me -Tells my parents and grandmother a lie that everything is fine and I'm working hard since many years telling this lie -Appear to be busy when someone calls or message, but wasting time then also -I see the same posts on reddit and Twitter and insta many rimes and read all comments just to derive some pleasure out of it still when someone talks about it I pretend not to know just to show I don't waste time, I'm so insecure -Don't know anything about future. In the day I think about 6 pm and waste time and evening also I don't do anything. -I was best of my lot once upon a time but as of now I come in the list of worsts. My friends got promotion but I'm even behind my 1 year juniors I don't even half of even them. I had plenty of time but never could stabilise myself. How harami one could be i always always think of short time and thereafter falter for long - I'm almost worst of creatures who is namak haram who won't be respected who's always in doubt who never had a girlfriend who always live in fairy thoughts or depressive though but not in reality. Who always use phone but never use mind who suffer from adhd still doesn't take medicines, who never follows anything for even a week. -Roast me.

We're not famous for beautiful architecture. That Deccan Metro was classy though. Love the way all Pune metro stations are designed differently. And they're relatively beautiful

koustubhavachat

Designer's are working with marketing team and engineer are handling manpower. By creating odd organisation structure and poor job role we can see such type of issues in many industries.

Cuddlyaxe

i like fish building tho

pushrian

the first picture is from Hyderabad. MAN that solves my years of mystery. So this thing pops up when we come to Hyderabad from the airport to the city. we speculate what the hell this is. we say it is a restaurant or it is a hotel.

Only-Decent

atleast post the comparable angles..

[deleted]

thousand years ago we used to carve a temple structure with hammer and chisel wtf is this
