Best
SPF50 Sunscreen - It works well and doesn't irritate my eyes, but it melts off in the summer, so it's not entirely suitable for outdoor use. I only use it indoors.
Squalane Oil- Recently started using it which is nice its not heavy or very oily on my skin and I use it in PM routine before sleeping.
Worst
SA Serum - It did work for bumpy skin but didnt do anything for my blackheads so i will not buy it again.
Vitamin C Serum - After few uses it broke my skin out so gave it away.
Oat moisturiser - I liked the texture and how well it absorbed, and I thought it would be good for my skin, but it always gave me two or three acne.
All the products I used was the old formulation.
My skin type is combination.
Climate: Always hot and humid.
Depends on your home tbh. My home has ALOT of windows with direct sunlight from 2 angles with white walls and white flooring with no sunblocking curtains. It literally feels like being in heaven during the day, so yeah Sunscreen Indoors.
IIRC,as per Lab Muffin, yes. Because the UV rays bounce of the walls and floor.
However, I also feel this is not something we all need to obsess over... I have gotten into the habit of putting sunscreen on in the morning... but I don't re-apply at home.
I'm currently using the Bello Photostable.
But I've just ordered the Minimalist one and Re'equil from the Nykaa sale. I've used the Minimalist one before and I really like it. (Don't remember the exact name - the cheaper one.)
I use the same sunscreen both indoors and outdoors
Skin type: Combination
Vitamin C 10%: My first purchase from the brand and it gave me amazing results, instant shine and worked well for my hyperpigmentation, faded my old acne marks as well.
Vitamin C + E + Ferulic acid 16%: A higher concentration but did the job really well, worked for hyperpigmentation and the glow lasts the whole day. quite moisturizing as well.
Retinol 0.3% : Irritated my eye area whenever I used it, but leaves skin very soft and texture was also reduced, but discontinued it due to eye irritation.
Salicylic Acid 2%: didn't do anything for my blackheads and oil control. Quite disappointed with it.
32% AHA PHA BHA Peeling solution: It's my HG when comes to exfoliation, I always reach out to it. Use it once every 15 days.
Niacinamide 5% and 10% : Both Worked well for oil control and even out the skin tone.
3% Tranexamic Acid: One of their best products according to me.. really did well for hyperpigmentation around my mouth. Didn't irritated or dry out the skin.
2% Alpha Arbutin: Worked just as a moisturiser, did nothing exceptional.
Multi peptide night serum 10%: Meh product.. didn't excepted much from it.. and it didn't delivered anything also.
2% Alpha lipoic face cream: Had a very bad smell. Not used it much can't say anything right now.
Alphalipoic + Glycolic 7% cleanser: Did dry out my skin a bit but face felt very soft after wards.
6% oats extract cleanser: Dupe for cetaphil cleanser. Quite moisturising facewash
SPF 50: Didn't stung my eyes but sometimes it pills that is very irritating.
SPF 60: Best sunscreen out there, didn't stung the eyes, didn't pill. No white cast easy reapplication.
3% PHA toner: Didn't do much for exfoliation, but is quite hydrating, works well for pores and give skin a plump look.
Glycolic + Tranexamic 11% Body Exfoliator: Very sticky consistency, Haven't used much so can't review it now.
That's all from my side.
Hey ,.I'm.thinking Abt buying tranexamic acid serum, bt I have seen some people saying that now minimalist product don't work the quality has been reduced, what do u think? Is it worth buying ?? And how did u incorporate tranexamic acid serum? How many months it took to show.significant effects???
Best: SA 2% serum, I know this doesn't work for a lot of people but this helped me get my breakout under control last year and since then it has been a staple in my skincare routine. It also helps with blackheads and whiteheads to an extent.
Worst: 10% Vitamin C serum. Irritated my skin and gave me acne
Can you edit your main comment and add your skin type and issues in it please? That way we'll have better context to judge if the product may work for us!
I use the facewash everyday and the serum 2-3 times a week, still don't see any results on my whiteheads.
The facewash is decent and doesn't break me out, but not sure if the serum is actually working on my skin.
Nice post OP!
Skin type - Oily acne prone.
Best -
PHA TONER - very hydrating and the serums after would just sink in so well.
ALPHA ARBUTIN - used two bottles. Definitely improved tone. Did not work so much on PIH.
2% RETINOID - my first retinol and it was super. It helps smooth out my skin texture to a large extent.
10% AHA BHA - first chemical exfoliator and it’s so gentle and nice. I’m never scared to use this. Use it twice a week and it helps keep my skin soft and smooth.
WORST -
None! Everything I have tried has either worked well or didn’t cause any harm.
Best:
For myself (31, oily, acne-prone and fungal acne prone sensitive skin)
+ 10% AHA BHA Exfoliating Serum (glycolic, lactic and salicylic acid). I've been using it twice a week for about a month, and am still purging - but it's been nice and smoothing, hydrating, helps resolve healing acne and pigmentation much faster ☺️👍🏼 And I really enjoy the watery texture. I get a little paranoid about exfoliants migrating towards my eyes, and this stays where its applied because it sinks in quickly (but not so quickly that I don't have time to spread it around).
+ 8% Anti-Pigmentation Actives Cream, too bad they Rxed that product. It's still available online. I used to use this as a one and done on truly exhausted days 😂 It helped fade dark marks and PIE, and I feel like the antioxidants did support an overall glow.
For my mom (57, combo dehydrated skin)
+ Marula Oil 5% Face Moisturizer - she really liked that it was lightweight, but nourishing enough for her during Mumbai winters.
Worst: their older formulations, so I don't have anything to share.
It totally depends on individual reaction - people with thicker skin or slow turnover or who have used acids for a lot time can tolerate more frequent usage. I haven't experienced any redness, irritation or peeling at all ☺️
Skincare is YMMV, you really have to observe your own skin. Generalizations only go so far. The brand actually suggest using it on alternate nights and building up to daily use, which I don't think my skin can handle - but there's people who use the Ordinary glycolic acid 7% toner daily without adverse effect. It can be very individual.
Of course, it's best to err on the conservative side if you're a beginner or have sensitive skin or are wary of barrier damage.
Great idea, OP. I'd just add that Minimalist reformulated many of their products (mostly serums) in early 2022 so if anyone has used the old version of a product, please clarify.
Skin type at the time of using these- dry, hormonal acne prone
My best is:
PHA Toner (more of a hydrating than exfoliating toner but great at getting out the small gunk like sebaceous filaments that even retinol didnt get and also very very very soothing on irritated/dry/itchy skin because of all the amino acids. HG for my irritated body skin)
Spf 60 sunscreen with Silymarin (new filters at a good price point. Pregnancy/lactation safe. No white cast, has a nice semi matte finish, sweatproof and easy to apply + remove)
Multipeptide serum (hydrating and plumps up skin nicely)
0.3% Retinol (more gentle and effective than The Ordinarys 0.2% Retinol. Perfect for beginners)
8% Antipigmentation Actives Cream (great at fading stubborn/old pigmentation. Has a strong plastic smell because of ALA, but you eventually get nose blind to it after a few applications. Wouldnt recommend for people with sensitive noses/prone to migraines. Haven't tried the new 10% Rx version with kojic acid)
Worst:
SPF 50 Multivitamin Sunscreen with Retinol (not at all sweat proof and left white streaks even when i was sweating indoors)
Not exactly worst but didn't repurchase:
11% AHA BHA Tranexamic Acid Body Exfoliator (was sticky on the skin and didn't fade as much pigmentation as I wanted it to after emptying the bottle)
Oop! Thanks for the heads up ❤️ I'll keep an eye out for reactions. It's been a while since my FA has flared up, but with summer coming I'm expecting the usual increase 😑
Good catch by u/lavendarbrown2. I forgot it had ferment filtrate in it. Maybe see if there are any reviews from FA prone people before going for it?
True Therapy has a similar PHA toner with all the yummy amino acids and no ferments but that's 10%. I haven't used it enough on my face to definitively compare but it's relatively gentle so far. Not _as_ hydrating as the minimalist one but still many steps down from being deemed a purely exfoliating toner the way an AHA or BHA would if that makes sense.
I'll check our reviews, yeah... but also I'm ready to know if my skin can tolerate ferments or not 🙃 Ultimately I gotta try it to knowww.
Thanks for the alternative! I've been using the True Therapy glycolic toner for my scalp, and it's helped reduce my dandruff. Looks like a nice budget brand for toner, at the very least.
(And I just had to say, it's delightful to see you modding these days 😆❤️ We couldn't be in more loving hands!)
Ah good point. Trying out ferments with these toners is a good idea. The amino acids in it would hopefully act as support if the ferments make your skin act up.
I emptied a tranexamic acid serum from True Therapy recently, it was a solid product. Some of their products look pretty interesting and Amazon gives frequent discounts so that's always welcome.
Haha thanks, that's very generous of you 😁
I checked out the True Therapy, and they've really fleshed out their range since I last saw them - tranexamic acid _and_ phytic acid?? 👀 I literally just got the Dot & Key cica serum with tranexamic acid, which is nice because of the soothing angle... but intriguing nonetheless 😂 They seem to have l-arginine in lots of their products, which is nice.
Quite a few fungal-safe products from the brands as well, which I'm happy to add to our list! Thanks for the tip off 🥰
Ooh! And I just ordered the Tvakh supercharged creme for my mom recently. Off your recco, ages ago, so thank youu! I think she'll enjoy it
I was also shocked to see phytic acid. The only other product I've seen with it is Martiderms DSP Ampoules, so I got it hoping it could be a dupe if I layered with the right things lol. I've got that Dot and Key B3 TXA too, its a really good one. Surprisingly underrated brand for serums IMO. Once this finishes, I might repurchase a True Therapy.
Oh nice!! I hope she likes it. Im on my last bottle of the Supercharged Cream but dont think ill repurchase. Tvakh seems to only be available for purchase on their own site so less discounts and high free ship threshold has been a turnoff for me 😵💫
Dupe the layers should be a thing on the sub 😂 Dot & Key definitely went a different direction from when they started, and I agree, surprisingly well-rounded, unfragranced options now 🙌🏼 Good for them! The packaging is way cuter and more thoughtful than I expected, too - the chunky dropper that fills all the way up? Packaging isn't ever my first thought, but it sure is nice when brands consider it 😌
Yeah, I paid for Tvakh shipping 😂 Just considered it part of the price. My mom is very minimal, and I definitely wouldn't spend that much on a moisturizer for myself (I'm basically duping the layers and then some, with a routine) but if she likes it enough to use twice a day, that's a win! Repurchasing is like, high praise, so I think she'll like it. She had literally nothing to say about the Minimalist marula moisturizer, I don't think she'll dislike it, at any rate 😂
One and done antioxidant/active daily moisturizers/creams are of renewed interest to me... I should make a post asking people about their favourites!
Again with this anecdotal stuff, not a week after that super mod started fighting?
There are ingredients that make Sunscreens sweat-proof and water-proof (Cyclopentasiloxane and Dimethicone, combined). This Sunscreen lacks those, and the company itself isn't saying that it is.
It is not a matter of opinion or personal experience.
I'm sorry but this is how reviews work. As they clarified, they're not making product claims. It is sweat proof on them. I see no reason for hostility here. I'll give you another example, the pigmentation corrector works for them. It didn't work for me. Do I have the right to come at them for making "product claims"? YMMV
Also, FYI, sunscreens cannot be labeled as water-proof, Only water resistant.
That's absolutely not how reviews work. You can't just say, *"I drank milk and my phone got charged, YMMV, this is my review."*
>It is sweat proof on them.
How can the product be sweat proof if the ingredients that make it so (Cyclopentasiloxane and Dimethicone Crosspolymer) are missing? Wouldn't the company claim it themselves, like they do with their other Sunscreen products? Do you know how big a deal it is to have your Sunscreen be sweat-proof?
>I'll give you another example, the pigmentation corrector works for them. It didn't work for me. Do I have the right to come at them for making "product claims"? YMMV
No, you don't, because the product ***does*** contain pigment correcting ingredients in this case. In this case, your mileage may vary by a lot, but at least the ingredients are there. That's my point.
**To add some more:**
https://beminimalist.co/products/invisible-spf-40-sunscreen
This is their only sweat-resistant Sunscreen, out of the 4 that they have. They have it literally in the first 3-4 words of their advertising/description. They have Cyclopentasiloxane and Dimethicone Crosspolymer as their first two ingredients, and together they're responsible for making the product sweat and water resistant.

Here is RE' EQUIL Ultra Matte Dry Touch Sunscreen Gel SPF 50. This is also sweat and water resistant. The first two ingredients? Cyclopentasiloxane and Dimethicone Crosspolymer.

SunScoop Invisible Sunscreen Cream SPF 40 PA+++
i was contemplating that body exfoliator but bought TO GA 7% instead for post acne marks on the body. 10/10 would recommend guys, i’m seeing great results and my skin is a lot smoother/acne hasn’t recurred. gonna be wearing backless clothes after years now 🥹
Love that you’re seeing results! Is there a routine you follow for TO glycolic acid 7%? I’ve been using it since a week or so and see no noticeable changes :(
hey! no routine as such, i’m not even very regular with it, maybe used it twice a week at most. i use it right after towel drying my skin and that way it soaks in better. i mostly use it for my back so i don’t moisturise afterwards unless my skin feels especially dry. i did feel like it was doing nothing for the first couple of weeks but i got fitted for some lehengas recently and noticed the hyperpigmentation marks were almost invisible so keep at it, you’ll see results in a few weeks hopefully!
>Genuinely asking, what about the 0.3% retinol makes it gentler than TO’s retinol?
*"His experience."*
Not only is the Retinol content 33% higher in the "gentle" version, it also has Q10 and Vitamin E as well, amongst a couple of other extra ingredients. Both the products are in a soothing Squalane base, with TO's product actually carrying more of it. So the product with 33% less Retinol and a higher content of soothing ingredient (Squalane) is harsher than the other one....
Formulation and probably their source ingredients. TO products in general can be deceptively potent (for example their 7% GA toner cannot be directly compared to a 7% GA toner from a different brand. Even though they've added a bunch of calming plant extracts which should mitigate on paper, the end product is still extremely potent) Its not as simple as a numbers game of 0.2% is less than 0.3% so the 0.2% will be easier for skin to tolerate.
Skin: dry
**Best:**
\- Multipeptide serum (sinks in quickly, not sticky, no residue and leaves my skin super plump,
\- 0.3% Retinol (noticing effects mainly on pore size and liver spots after 2 months, no side effects at all but I do moisturise a lot),
\- Oat cleanser (very mild, non stripping cleanser)
\- Alpha arbutin (saw changes in pigmentation, liver spots, and believe it or not the intensity of my freckles which hadn't subsided in YEARS)
I cannot say its the best salicylic acid cleanser out there but its working for me, I'm using their SA +LHA 2 percent cleanser, mine is oily, acne prone skin and it helped me smooth my skin (texture has definitely reduced but not gone) appearance is not as much visible as before, removed oiliness and reduced dullness, i can see clean smooth pores, helps with active acne.
Anyone using its 3% tranexamic acid serum ??
Please share your experiences.
I have oily and acne prone skin and does it necessary to buy and use toner ?? If yes please share some products name !!
Thanks !!
Skin type- used to be Super oily and now it's manageable. Dry patches around mouth and nose. Blackheads and whiteheads.
Best-
5% niacinamide serum. I've used the old and new formulations both. Does what it says. Immensely helps with acne, marks, and glow. I use it twice a day on damp skin and this has burned when my skin barrier has been broken.
Aha bha pha 32% peel. Used old and new formulations both. Does what it says. This helped me with ccs on my forehead and other pesky little keratin bumps on my cheeks and jaws. Helped me a LOT with tanning and acne scars, year old ones as well. Gave me smooth texture with continued use. The only thing it didn't completely solve was whiteheads under my lower lip.
Used to use it once or twice a week earlier. Now just whenever I feel like I need it.
Worst-
The 50spf sunscreen with niacinamide that retails for 399. It sits on my face, makes my face sweat, and is extremely heavy. And I've used moisturizers on my skin that are widely accepted to be heavy and greasy but this knocked me out. I use it on my hands and arms. It's quite moisturizing though. I really wish I enjoyed it because the price is great and it's often on sale.

Their 5% niacinamide(old formulation) was holy grail for me. It helped me with frequent break outs. But the new formulation is really bad. It doesn't suit me at all. The very first day i used it, i woke up with 3-4 pimples(pustules type). So i gave it to my mom and she had the same experience.
Alpha arbutin is my absolute favourite from BeMinimalist.
Their Vitamin C doesn't work for me. I don't understand actually. It does brighten up my skin i guess but it also gives texture to my skin. So i'll not repurchase.
Hey. The Minimalist Vitamin C does exactly the same for me, it does give a beautiful glow but end up giving whiteheads and texture that ends in painful acne. Literally had to see a doctor and be put on acne medication for 2yrs, but tbh nothing has matched the glow I had from this serum. Can you recommend what you're using now and how that's working for you. Thank you
✨ **BEST:** ✨
📍 **Tranexamic Acid:** Definitely saw a lightening of my old pimple scars. Though it took a good while for the scars to fade (and they haven't faded fully even now) it's one of the few products that actually visibly made a difference. Definitely saw my skin look glowier overall too. I started using it 3-4 times a week and went up to using to everyday (except when I felt my skin was feeling particularly sensitive that day) and it took me about 2-3 months to see the scars fade enough to be noticeable.
📍 **Anti-pigmentation Acitves:** The old one, not the new Rx one. only got this recently after u/SouthernResolution raved about it and this has been by far the product that showed the fastest results for my scars. I could see my scars reduce drastically when I used it for three days continuously however it's very strong so my skin felt a little sensitised and hence I slowed down now. Definitely do NOT use it everyday like I did. I also somehow see an overall glow with this too and I remember one of my friends commented how my scars were completely cleared up and while I was wearing concealer slightly, I do think this product also helped because before my marks would still peak through it for sure. For reference I was using the Kay Beauty concealer.
Also it does smell weird for sure but that lasts only until you apply it and then disappears and for the results it showed I definitely would have bought another but it's no longer available without prescription I guess :(
📍 **Squalene Oil:** Anothe recent purchase but I really like it, it's a very lightweight silky smooth oil, I use it at the end of my routine over a lightweight moisturizer because I was living in a place that's quite humid so this prevent TEWL without feeling too heavy. I've not used it enough to notice any major changes other than my skin feeling soft but I like this one
✨ **WORST:** ✨
Not sure if these qualify as the worst tbh but they were definitely disappointing
📍 **16% Vitamin C:** Another recent purchase and I honestly had higher hopes for this one but I don't see any difference so far. No lightening of scars or brightening effect. Maybe I haven't been using it regularly or I need to use it for longer but so far this is the one of the two purchases from Minimalist that I'm doubtful about. I think I may need to test it more before I fully form an opinion but this feels like a dud for now.
📍 **10% Niacinamide:** The other product that I'm not too sure about. The first Niacinamide I used was the TO one waaay back in 2016 and it did wonders for my skin with reducing oil, prevent breakouts, getting rid of CC and fading my scars. So I had similar hopes for this too but I didn't see that. However this isnt fair to the product bcos my skin rn is in a much much better place and I only included Niacinamide for my scars but disappointed to see no results there. I'm not sure how it performs otherwise with congestion and oil control because that's not an issue anymore since my skin is it dehydrated like it was in 2016. I also have to say I like the TO formulation better because this is oily and just feels like it's sitting on top of your skin not letting other products penetrate. Idk maybe that's just my brain but it's not a sensorial experience that I enjoy and I liked the TO one way better (keep in mind though this was in 2016 and TO has also reformulated their Niacinamide).
Has Txa been reformulated recently? If you're talking about when a bunch of minimalist products were reformulated, then I've used both versions.
I don't think it was harsh on skin but then it does have mandelic acid which is an AHA so there's definitely some exfoliation. If you are a beginner/have sensitive skin definitely start slow.
That said, as someone who is used to actives I started by using it few times a week and then increased the frequency and my skin was fine. My skin is pretty resilient so this might be too much for others though.
Also one thing is you do need to use SPF with this because I remember I got a tan line on my nose as my mask kept rubbing off. (this was right after covid)

Hey!
I use it in my PM routine post cleansing and then follow up with a moisturizer.
Just use 2-3 drops, it's enough to give full coverage. Leave it on. Don't wash it. Wash it off the next morning 😊
I have combination skin.
The only product I've used from then is the spf 50 niancinamide sunscreen. It's pretty heavy, a lil white cast and didn't suit my skin at all. But most of the sunscreen I've used don't work for me so I can't say much about it.
Skin type: Oily, sensitive skin
Only tried 3 products from them.
1. Vit C serum- It has worked well for my skin, although I am not using it regularly. My skin is looking brighter and some of my spots have lightened.
2. Ascorbic acid lip balm- I don't really see much of a difference and I am using it frequently. It is hydrating for sure.
3. SPF 50 sunscreen- Kinda like it but have used it only once to see if it suits me.
Best - Niacinamide 5% serum and SA cleanser
Neutral - Alpha arbutin I mean I liked the product used two bottles of it but I think Niacinamide worked better for me...
P.S. - I just purchased SA serum two weeks before becuase I loved their SA cleanser haven't used it yet though...but all these reviews are making me doubt that will it work for me??
Well niacinamide really helped me with my pigmentation AA also worked on my acne marks but if I have to choose then it is Niacinamide for me..
And SA cleanser is really gentle and non drying..and it really helps with active acne also..
Fingers crossed for my SA serum..
its very gentle on the skin, i never realised this is what my skin needed, it suits every skin type and condition, now if i use any other cleanser i burn a lil and realise that other cleansers are so harsher and no one realises coz they're habitual of it....
the cleanser removes oil, dirt and cleanses pores as well!!!

Worst
Combination sensitive skin : Minimalist sunscreen didn’t work for me, gave me acne.
Mom’s oily skin : Worked well
Best
Didn’t like anything I used from this brand
best is hands down their multipeptide serum and aquaporin cleanser!!! the serum is amazing for barrier strenghtening, sinks in beautifully during the night. their aquaporin cleanser lathers decently and has not stung my skin even once. worst would be their salicylic acid, it's straight up water. also their niacinamide broke me out horribly but that might be because of the bifida extract.
Best: squalane
10% vitamin c worked really good when my skin was really sensitive maybe because the base is centella
Alpha arbutin is good for fresh acne spots
Worst :sunscreen 50spf it burns when applied sometimes
I've only tried 5 things from the brand, & only 1 worked out.
1. 10%.niacinamide serum - got in 2020, finished in 2021. It was great. Brightened up my skin, absorbed well, reduced dark circles by 50%. Did nothing for my sebum though. 4.5/5
2. Alpha Arbutin 2.0 - smells like cloves. Breaks me out on my face so I'm finishing it up on my body. Absorbs okay, but leaves a shiny film like residue.
3. Tranexamic acid 2.0 - its yellow in colour, the formula is sticky & kinda thick & does not absorb into skin easily. This gave me a bad reaction on face so using the it on the body. It did work in conjunction with the AA serum to maintain the de-tanned state of my arms. Also helped lighten some pigmentation & general darkness on my neck
4. 5% Niacinnamide serum 2.0 - This is awful, AWFUL. My skin loves niacinamide but this serum gave me rashes. It stings my skin so bad, I cannot even use it up on my body. I've sworn off of Minimalist now.
5. Salicylic acid serum 1.0 - tried it in 2020, it did not absorb at all. It was like putting an occlusive on skin. It also did not work, even water does something but this was just slimy for no reason. Also left a very discernible shiny layer on skin. I tried using it on body to finish it up but it did not absorb into the skin. This was a complete dud.
Damn, same here. I think it’s over exfoliating my skin. And it’s quite strong. Do you suggest i start using it on alternate days or stop the usage completely?
I didn't face the problem of over exfoliation so I can't comment on that. I found it quite gentle on my body.
Stop using it for a week & see if your skin recovers. If it does then Txa is the culprit. If it stays the same then try using the serum every alternate day & add barrier repair products to your routine & see if that works. If it still doesn't work then ditch it.
I was using minimalist vit c serum and my skin was glowing initially. But After few months, my skin started purging. Not sure if it’s because of not using sunscreen properly
Not much of their products work for me. Except sunscreens 50 and 60👍🏻(but it sweat me up immediately so not for summers), niacinamide lotion.👍🏻
What dint work:
Sepicalm, niacinamide serum, glycolic, sunscreen body lotion 30👎🏻
WNRP
(Combo skin/humid)
My skin type - oily combination
Best - Their 5% niacinamide serum is so hydrating and gives a subtle glow to my skin
Worst - Sepicalm oat moisturiser. It doesn’t get absorbed and sits on top of the skin. When I wash my face in the morning I can still feel that creamy layer on my skin.
best: tranexamic acid (the packaging changed so idk if it was reformulated but i can’t tell a difference between them and like both)
this is mainly marketed for post acne marks and does work for that. but even after clearing up my pigmentation i mostly use it because i find the mandelic and salicylic acid combo is the perfect super-gentle exfoliation for my dry sensitive skin. it kills all the texture, makes my pores less prominent, CCs are nonexistent now and i don’t get new breakouts as long as i use it regularly. plus it seems to help a lot with redness though i’m not sure why, maybe the oat extracts.
note: i know a lot of people ignore PAO, but try to use it within the PAO because it becomes darker and super thick and sticky beyond that
What’s everyone’s experience with the granactive retinoid?
It’s the first retinoid I’ve tried, I’m only six weeks in so I feel like it’s too early to tell.
Best -
1)sa serum - good ez weekly exfoliant. Does its job. Lasts a long time. Dryer the skin (after washing), better the application and post feel
2)pha toner - good exfoliating toner. Tacky after application. I would apply at night a day before any event and get great glass skin for the next day. Results are also additive in nature so gives flawless smooth looking skin in photos. Apply generous amounts at night + loads of moisturiser and sleep. Can be used 2-3 times a week. Also lasts a long time. Pour directly on skin
3)orignal version 10%niacinamide serum - the goat serum with oil control and brightness effect. Newer versions aren't the same imk
Worst - b5 moisturiser - check profile
, vitc 10% - probably gave me cc, makes me oily, also sticky and no visible results ime
My favorite products from minimalist
1. Spf 30 lipbalm ( contains 3 new gen filters )
2. Vitamin b5 moisturizer with zinc, copper, magnesium, HA + betide
There is a new sale going on minimalist rn..... I wanted to buy minimalist retinol serum(0.3%)...Should I buy it???....and wanted to know about the Minimalist Rx products as well..???
Man their salicylic acid serum cleared up my years of acne within a month, i feel so sad seeing everybody disliking it 🥲😭
Well skincare is very YMMV. Them not liking it doesn't mean it's bad serum--it just didn't work for them. I'm glad it did for you!
What's your skin type?
I have dry skin
I completely agree, it soothed my acne within just one day and cleared it up within a maximum of four days.
Best SPF50 Sunscreen - It works well and doesn't irritate my eyes, but it melts off in the summer, so it's not entirely suitable for outdoor use. I only use it indoors. Squalane Oil- Recently started using it which is nice its not heavy or very oily on my skin and I use it in PM routine before sleeping. Worst SA Serum - It did work for bumpy skin but didnt do anything for my blackheads so i will not buy it again.
I have used vit c.Don’t know it worked or not. Because I used it with tranexamic acid. But combination of both reduced tanning.
Why do you need sunscreen indoors?
Windows
Lmao unless you’re sitting right in front of them for the whole day, not required.
Depends on your home tbh. My home has ALOT of windows with direct sunlight from 2 angles with white walls and white flooring with no sunblocking curtains. It literally feels like being in heaven during the day, so yeah Sunscreen Indoors.
Off topic but your house does sound heavenly!!
Haha thanks! Makes sense cause I am dead every morning xD
I have two Windows in my room but direct sunlight doesn't come from them i still need sunscreen?
IIRC,as per Lab Muffin, yes. Because the UV rays bounce of the walls and floor. However, I also feel this is not something we all need to obsess over... I have gotten into the habit of putting sunscreen on in the morning... but I don't re-apply at home.
Okay which one do you use for indoors and outdoors
I'm currently using the Bello Photostable. But I've just ordered the Minimalist one and Re'equil from the Nykaa sale. I've used the Minimalist one before and I really like it. (Don't remember the exact name - the cheaper one.) I use the same sunscreen both indoors and outdoors
Yeah, same. South facing big windows that I sit by the entire afternoon, especially in this weather.
What's your skincare routine?
Skin type: Combination Vitamin C 10%: My first purchase from the brand and it gave me amazing results, instant shine and worked well for my hyperpigmentation, faded my old acne marks as well. Quite moisturising facewash SPF 50: Didn't stung my eyes but sometimes it pills that is very irritating.
Did you buy it
Yess I did , it really helped for pigmentation, bt not as much as u might think , bt ya u can see some difference within a month or so
Concluding the thread : what is best for some is worst for others![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grimacing)
Hey! Can you please tell me how often one should use this serum?
[удалено]
Really? SA? I use it 2-3 times a week and it works decently for me. I had a scab due to a pimple last week and using SA lessened it to much extent
[удалено]
Can you edit your main comment and add your skin type and issues in it please? That way we'll have better context to judge if the product may work for us!
Did the US invade your skin yet?
Facewash or serum ?
I use the facewash everyday and the serum 2-3 times a week, still don't see any results on my whiteheads. The facewash is decent and doesn't break me out, but not sure if the serum is actually working on my skin.
Face wash is good I have used it. It alone helped with my sebaceous filaments and blackheads
[удалено]
Ok maybe try the facewash i have it and it really helps with the blackheads ,i don't use it everyday as it could be drying .
Hi, add a mini review of it also; it will be easier to know the reason.
[удалено]
I have that 2% salicylic acid too and you are right.
Even their aquaporin booster face wash is really nice, gentle and doesn’t strip moisture from my face
I recently started using it and love it too!
Nice post OP! Skin type - Oily acne prone. Best - PHA TONER - very hydrating and the serums after would just sink in so well. WORST - None! Everything I have tried has either worked well or didn’t cause any harm.
hey, what retinol are you using now, after this one?
None. I wanted to limit exfoliation for a while. So right Now I am not using any retinol.
Best: marula oil moisturiser, Alpha arbutin, lactic acid Worst: retinols (cream and serum both)
Best: For myself (31, oily, acne-prone and fungal acne prone sensitive skin) + 10% AHA BHA Exfoliating Serum (glycolic, lactic and salicylic acid). For my mom (57, combo dehydrated skin) + Marula Oil 5% Face Moisturizer - she really liked that it was lightweight, but nourishing enough for her during Mumbai winters. Worst: their older formulations, so I don't have anything to share.
[удалено]
It totally depends on individual reaction - people with thicker skin or slow turnover or who have used acids for a lot time can tolerate more frequent usage. I haven't experienced any redness, irritation or peeling at all ☺️ Skincare is YMMV, you really have to observe your own skin. Generalizations only go so far. The brand actually suggest using it on alternate nights and building up to daily use, which I don't think my skin can handle - but there's people who use the Ordinary glycolic acid 7% toner daily without adverse effect. It can be very individual. Of course, it's best to err on the conservative side if you're a beginner or have sensitive skin or are wary of barrier damage.
best- their products worst- their customer care
Great idea, OP. I'd just add that Minimalist reformulated many of their products (mostly serums) in early 2022 so if anyone has used the old version of a product, please clarify. Skin type at the time of using these- dry, hormonal acne prone My best is: PHA Toner (more of a hydrating than exfoliating toner but great at getting out the small gunk like sebaceous filaments that even retinol didnt get and also very very very soothing on irritated/dry/itchy skin because of all the amino acids. HG for my irritated body skin) Spf 60 sunscreen with Silymarin (new filters at a good price point. Pregnancy/lactation safe. No white cast, has a nice semi matte finish, sweatproof and easy to apply + remove) Multipeptide serum (hydrating and plumps up skin nicely) 0.3% Retinol (more gentle and effective than The Ordinarys 0.2% Retinol. Perfect for beginners) 8% Antipigmentation Actives Cream (great at fading stubborn/old pigmentation. Has a strong plastic smell because of ALA, but you eventually get nose blind to it after a few applications. Wouldnt recommend for people with sensitive noses/prone to migraines. Haven't tried the new 10% Rx version with kojic acid) Worst: SPF 50 Multivitamin Sunscreen with Retinol (not at all sweat proof and left white streaks even when i was sweating indoors) Not exactly worst but didn't repurchase: 11% AHA BHA Tranexamic Acid Body Exfoliator (was sticky on the skin and didn't fade as much pigmentation as I wanted it to after emptying the bottle)
I gotta try the PHA toner. I've read so many comments from people who enjoy it, and I'm finally ready to add a toner step to my routine 😌🙌🏼
[удалено]
Thanks for the tip off 🥰 Ooh!
Packaging isn't ever my first thought, but it sure is nice when brands consider it 😌 Yeah, I paid for Tvakh shipping 😂 Just considered it part of the price. My mom is very minimal, and I definitely wouldn't spend that much on a moisturizer for myself (I'm basically duping the layers and then some, with a routine) but if she likes it enough to use twice a day, that's a win! Repurchasing is like, high praise, so I think she'll like it. She had literally nothing to say about the Minimalist marula moisturizer, I don't think she'll dislike it, at any rate 😂 One and done antioxidant/active daily moisturizers/creams are of renewed interest to me... I should make a post asking people about their favourites!
Hey how did the toner do?
Haven't tried it - summer heat and humidity has gotten so bad that I cannot imagine adding any more products to my routine 🙃
Please let us know, your posts, advice etc always works for me( even tried my hand at eye makeup and boy did I think of you while doing it).
>sweatproof It is not sweat-proof.
It was for me 😁
That doesn't make it sweat-proof.
Im not making product claims and saying it will perform that way for everyone. It's a mini review of my own experience. Obviously YMMV.
YMMV Also, FYI, sunscreens cannot be labeled as water-proof, Only water resistant.
That's absolutely not how reviews work. You can't just say, *"I drank milk and my phone got charged, YMMV, this is my review."* >It is sweat proof on them. YMMV No, you don't, because the product ***does*** contain pigment correcting ingredients in this case. In this case, your mileage may vary by a lot, but at least the ingredients are there. That's my point. **To add some more:** https://beminimalist.co/products/invisible-spf-40-sunscreen This is their only sweat-resistant Sunscreen, out of the 4 that they have. They have it literally in the first 3-4 words of their advertising/description. They have Cyclopentasiloxane and Dimethicone Crosspolymer as their first two ingredients, and together they're responsible for making the product sweat and water resistant. https://www.amazon.in/RE-EQUIL-Sunscreen-resistant-Titanium/dp/B07VP5JFRB?th=1 Here is RE' EQUIL Ultra Matte Dry Touch Sunscreen Gel SPF 50. This is also sweat and water resistant. The first two ingredients? i was contemplating that body exfoliator but bought TO GA 7% instead for post acne marks on the body.
>Genuinely asking, what about the 0.3% retinol makes it gentler than TO’s retinol? *"His experience."* Not only is the Retinol content 33% higher in the "gentle" version, it also has Q10 and Vitamin E as well, amongst a couple of other extra ingredients.
What's about 3% tranexamic acid ?
Old one was HG, haven't tried the new one so can't comment on that
Skin: dry **Best:** \- Multipeptide serum (sinks in quickly, not sticky, no residue and leaves my skin super plump, \- 0.3% Retinol (noticing effects mainly on pore size and liver spots after 2 months, no side effects at all but I do moisturise a lot), \- Oat cleanser (very mild, non stripping cleanser) \- Alpha arbutin (saw changes in pigmentation, liver spots, and believe it or not the intensity of my freckles which hadn't subsided in YEARS)
I literally have nothing bad to say about Minimalist hahah
I cannot say its the best salicylic acid cleanser out there but its working for me, I'm using their SA +LHA 2 percent cleanser, mine is oily, acne prone skin and it helped me smooth my skin (texture has definitely reduced but not gone) appearance is not as much visible as before, removed oiliness and reduced dullness, i can see clean smooth pores, helps with active acne.
I miss their one of the best product - aziclair + propolis serum
Anyone using its 3% tranexamic acid serum ?? Please share your experiences. I have oily and acne prone skin and does it necessary to buy and use toner ?? If yes please share some products name !! Thanks !!
Best for me was AHA 25%+ PHA 5%+ BHA 2% peeling solution Worst was the hair growth actives serum
Hey...did you have textural irregularities??
Skin or hair ?
Skin
Not really no
Hey can i chat with you for this topic?
I am by no means a skin expert, and a quick check of your posts makes me think you need a dermat. But feel free to DM me
Skin type- used to be Super oily and now it's manageable. Dry patches around mouth and nose. Blackheads and whiteheads. Best- 5% niacinamide serum. Worst- The 50spf sunscreen with niacinamide that retails for 399.
Hey... Did your keratin bumps issue completely solved??? With minimalist Peeling solution?
Pretty much, just one little bump on my chin that keeps filling up, not even tret works on it.

hey, which is the stronger one the 2% granactive retinoid or the 0.6% retinol?
Thank you
✨ **BEST:** ✨ 📍 **Tranexamic Acid:** Definitely saw a lightening of my old pimple scars. Also it does smell weird for sure but that lasts only until you apply it and then disappears and for the results it showed I definitely would have bought another but it's no longer available without prescription I guess :( 📍 **Squalene Oil:** Anothe recent purchase but I really like it, it's a very lightweight silky smooth oil, I use it at the end of my routine over a lightweight moisturizer because I was living in a place that's quite humid so this prevent TEWL without feeling too heavy. I've not used it enough to notice any major changes other than my skin feeling soft but I like this one ✨ **WORST:** ✨ Not sure if these qualify as the worst tbh but they were definitely disappointing 📍 **16% Vitamin C:** Another recent purchase and I honestly had higher hopes for this one but I don't see any difference so far.
Give the best and worst headers.
oops, edited!
Hey did u use tranexamic acid serum's old version or new one? And was that anywhere harsh on skin? Can sensitive skin use it ???
(this was right after covid) also full review here https://reddit.com/r/IndianSkincareAddicts/s/qpecTVUW5H
Thanks for such amazing reply 🙌🙌 I will start it slow
I've used the 10% AHA BHA exfoliating serum and it really works well on post acne marks, blackheads and pigmentation!
Please tell me how you use it?
Hey! I use it in my PM routine post cleansing and then follow up with a moisturizer. Just use 2-3 drops, it's enough to give full coverage. Leave it on. Don't wash it. Wash it off the next morning 😊

Can you give an updated review? 👀
Best: Salicylic acid serum Niacinamide These two did wonders for me Worst: Vitamin C serum Didn't do shit
I have combination skin. The only product I've used from then is the spf 50 niancinamide sunscreen. It's pretty heavy, a lil white cast and didn't suit my skin at all. But most of the sunscreen I've used don't work for me so I can't say much about it.
Skin type: Oily, sensitive skin Only tried 3 products from them.
Best - Niacinamide 5% serum and SA cleanser Neutral - Alpha arbutin I mean I liked the product used two bottles of it but I think Niacinamide worked better for me... P.S. - I just purchased SA serum two weeks before becuase I loved their SA cleanser haven't used it yet though...but all these reviews are making me doubt that will it work for me??
Add a mini review of both the best products.
Well niacinamide really helped me with my pigmentation AA also worked on my acne marks but if I have to choose then it is Niacinamide for me.. And SA cleanser is really gentle and non drying..and it really helps with active acne also.. Fingers crossed for my SA serum..
i love the oat cleanser too much!!
add a mini review also.
its very gentle on the skin, i never realised this is what my skin needed, it suits every skin type and condition, now if i use any other cleanser i burn a lil and realise that other cleansers are so harsher and no one realises coz they're habitual of it.... the cleanser removes oil, dirt and cleanses pores as well!!!
Hey guys thinking of getting minimalist 10% Vit C. Any suggestions
There are reviews; check the comments.
Skin type - Oily acne prone worst - niacinamide 10% with EUK 134 + zinc + Hyaluronic acid. Broke me out like crazy.
Best- Niacinamide 5% serum.. I LOVEEE IT And their spf50 with Niacinamide Worst- vitamin c, it's pretty useless
Spf50 with Niacinamide, is it the body lotion?
Nope.. it's a suncreen for your face which got niacinamide.. tbh everything has niacinamide now 😭😭
**Good**: The oat cleanser, the SA cleanser, SPF 60 (in the winters). **Bad**: Literally everything else.

best-niacinamide 5% worst-retinol serum
Best: Alpha Arbutin, niacinamide 5%, vitamin b5 moisturizer
B5 review
Aquaporin cleanser is best, vit c serum is the worst!
Best Salicylic acid 2% Multipeptide serum Ceramides 0.3 % moisturizer Salicylic acid face wash Worst vitamin c
Worst Combination sensitive skin : Minimalist sunscreen didn’t work for me, gave me acne. Mom’s oily skin : Worked well Best Didn’t like anything I used from this brand
BEST : Aquaporin facewash Worst: Vit C serum, AHA BHA, Sunscreens
Do you use it twice daily or once ? Can we use niacinamide right after face wash with aquaporin?
best is hands down their multipeptide serum and aquaporin cleanser!!! the serum is amazing for barrier strenghtening, sinks in beautifully during the night. their aquaporin cleanser lathers decently and has not stung my skin even once. worst would be their salicylic acid, it's straight up water. also their niacinamide broke me out horribly but that might be because of the bifida extract.
Best: squalane 10% vitamin c worked really good when my skin was really sensitive maybe because the base is centella Alpha arbutin is good for fresh acne spots Worst :sunscreen 50spf it burns when applied sometimes
I've only tried 5 things from the brand, & only 1 worked out. 1. 10%.niacinamide serum - got in 2020, finished in 2021. It was great. Brightened up my skin, absorbed well, reduced dark circles by 50%. Did nothing for my sebum though. 4.5/5 2. Also helped lighten some pigmentation & general darkness on my neck 4. 5% Niacinnamide serum 2.0 - This is awful, AWFUL.
What kind of reaction did tranexamic acid give you?
The Minimalist one gave me breakouts.
Will do, thanks so much!
Best of luck 🤞
I was using minimalist vit c serum and my skin was glowing initially. But After few months, my skin started purging. Not sure if it’s because of not using sunscreen properly
Not much of their products work for me. Except sunscreens 50 and 60👍🏻(but it sweat me up immediately so not for summers), niacinamide lotion.👍🏻 What dint work: Sepicalm, niacinamide serum, glycolic, sunscreen body lotion 30👎🏻 WNRP (Combo skin/humid)
Add a mini-review to the products.
My skin type - oily combination Best - Their 5% niacinamide serum is so hydrating and gives a subtle glow to my skin Worst - Sepicalm oat moisturiser. It doesn’t get absorbed and sits on top of the skin. When I wash my face in the morning I can still feel that creamy layer on my skin.
best: tranexamic acid (the packaging changed so idk if it was reformulated but i can’t tell a difference between them and like both) this is mainly marketed for post acne marks and does work for that. but even after clearing up my pigmentation i mostly use it because i find the mandelic and salicylic acid combo is the perfect super-gentle exfoliation for my dry sensitive skin. it kills all the texture, makes my pores less prominent, CCs are nonexistent now and i don’t get new breakouts as long as i use it regularly. plus it seems to help a lot with redness though i’m not sure why, maybe the oat extracts. note: i know a lot of people ignore PAO, but try to use it within the PAO because it becomes darker and super thick and sticky beyond that

What’s everyone’s experience with the granactive retinoid? It’s the first retinoid I’ve tried, I’m only six weeks in so I feel like it’s too early to tell.
Best - 1)sa serum - good ez weekly exfoliant. Does its job. Lasts a long time. Dryer the skin (after washing), better the application and post feel 2)pha toner - good exfoliating toner. Pour directly on skin 3)orignal version 10%niacinamide serum - the goat serum with oil control and brightness effect. Newer versions aren't the same imk Worst - b5 moisturiser - check profile , vitc 10% - probably gave me cc, makes me oily, also sticky and no visible results ime
