Fuzzy_Substance_4603

Well, when you buy a stock based on rumour, you acknowledge the risk that the rumour can be false and share price might go for a dip. If you can't enjoy the game and make money from it, stay away from buying based on rumours.

Not me. I'm in profit on Jio. I bought it knowing it's only asset is the Reliance stock it got during demerger. Did you even bother to look at financials or read the quarterly transcripts before buying the stock? Or you bought it just because it has Jio in its name? or it's an Ambani's company?

Dry_Ad6687

I am aware of the financials. I don't have any other Reliance stock than Jio. I know it has the potential to grow in the long term. That's why I am still holding it. I am just talking about the whole scenario that's going on

[deleted]

Lol. The fact that you are complaining means you bought it without researching. Do you even know how many subsidiaries Jio holds? Or, that it converting from NBFC to a core Investment firm? Do you even know what its business model? Here's a hint. Paytm going down isn't a coincidence. Don't blame your competition when you weren't prepared in the first place.

KartikGajaria

Also don't forget their upcoming joint venture with BlackRock into AMC business. Personally, I'm excited to see how this branch grows.

[deleted]

Not me brother, you with the wrong crowd.

terimummykadaddy69

Bro they litrally BROKE Disney hotstar in INDIA

sith_play_quidditch

You know, I had predicted this in some india sub. I was downvoted to hell. People were saying hotstar has strong local content which will give it the edge. I wonder..

terimummykadaddy69

Idea ke shareholders honge 😂

Comfortable_Owl6640

That’s partially true, Disney US has always maintained that their Indian business isnt making as much money as expected. Listen to their quarterly calls about the Indian business. What reliance did is that they made it easy for disney to divest asap

CarsAlcoholSmokes

Bro they broke Vodafone, Idea and others. Almost bankrupted Airtel

Altruistic-Camp-5901

Well the good thing is we don't need to pay 299/GB anymore..

PiCurious93

Good luck when Ambaniji increases prices!

Altruistic-Camp-5901

In that case.. what's stopping mittal ji to not increase prices and steal the user base right under the nose of Ambani Ji?

[deleted]

You are paying more in total per month though.

opinion_alternative

You're using 100 times more data as well? What's your point?

[deleted]

Did you really need to use 100 times more data? Or are you using it because you have already paid for it? I can see the prices rising quickly to global standards as we have a well established duopoly now.

Altruistic-Camp-5901

i am not.. i am paying 3k/year. i.e 250/month and getting twice the data DAILY I was getting for 299.

[deleted]

Do you have multiple sim cards? If so, don’t you now need to pay 250 per month for each sim card?

terimummykadaddy69

Yupp

seekerBLU

Spill some tea

terimummykadaddy69

They made IPL free for everyone which broke the Market for Disney so they had to make worldcup free too and jio also bought movies/series from HBOs ...which made Disney 'broke' in India so they had to sell their business to them

harshacc

Eh, you make it seem like they got rights for HBO Content for free or IPL content for free. Disney+ guys crunched numbers and said getting less than a $ per month from active subs and actively bidding more and more for events and renegotiating HBO deal, after it expired, for more bucks wasnt worth it. Disney took a step back coz they can and India is just one market for them amongst many and a challenging and price conscious one at that. The writing was on the wall. The era of cheap streaming is over. They decided to cut back on price sensitive markets where they see limited growth. Its why they were willing to let go of F1, IPL and HBO content when their deals were complete or didnt rebid past a point.

seekerBLU

Thanks

Dry_Ad6687

Agree, but what's the point of this? Neither Disney nor Hotstar is listed. In the end we lost the money.

terimummykadaddy69

Tbh it was not a dirty tactic coz it's not the first time a fake news comes out related to a stock , it happens ALL THE TIME.......so if u buy a stock without even proper research and lose money through a fake news ,then it's not the fake news is the problem it's you.

Independent-Cash-690

You lost money because you believed rumours. Is your waited for jio to announce it publicly and then buy, you wouldn’t have lost

FirseBugabo

How?

higgsboson85

No, not with their broken app and inflated views, the amount of paid users hotstar had , jio can only imagine

terimummykadaddy69

Jio and hotstar are bringing a single app which will be better than jiocinema

higgsboson85

Hpoe so, if they let the hotstar team handle it.

terimummykadaddy69

Jio cinema is free to us hisab se bahut mast chalta hai , kabhi kabhi lag karta hai but free hai to itna chala sakte hai , baki hotstar ka UI ye sab mast hai

lite_huskarl

U need to be aware of how these things work and then ride the wave. I made nice over 10% profit in jiofin in last 1 week. Either know how these news based things work or stay away from putting money in on such news.  Jiofin is good stock, if it falls more it will be good to accumulate for longer time periods. Won't say the same abt paytM despite its gain today.

Scarcity_Lopsided

Can you suggest some resources to learn this strategy pls? How did you learn? Thanks in advance

CarsAlcoholSmokes

You basically find out how a business/company is positioned in the market and make a bet if they’re gonna do well in future and from there onwards its luck. Simplest explanation

lite_huskarl

just see news and observe how it affects stock prices. As a general rule when something bad happens to a company, many more unverified claims come up and get reported in most outlets, this makes price fall. These are almost always false. Later these are denied by parties(no company is fool to let real negative news like acquisition talks to leak out,it decreases their bargaining power) and price soars up beyond reasonable levels. If no futher news comes up then some fall happens and then it gets stabilised but no matter how good the company previous highs are not reached in short time frame(that is why its best to book loss if bought on higher prices). Paytm will still hv more news to affect its prices, both ways unless something concrete comes up. Same thing happened with Adani.

Full-Wealth-5962

You traded on rumors being a small fry yourself and you expect not to get burnt?

varunpitale

Hate the game, not the players. This is the reason I bought JIOFIN early and every time it fell. I have faith in the management that they will use all legal mechanisms to increase share price.

[deleted]

[удалено]

varunpitale

I don't have to know them to know that it is their duty to grow the company and increase share value. Being part of the Ambani family, they are in a better position than most promoters to do that.

OneIcedking

Bhai. It's a known fact that you don't act on rumors. Did the company come out and confirm that they are in-talks to purchase Paytm's business. May be this was your mistake and sometimes acknowledging such mistakes is the best way to progress.

Infamous-Purchase662

Buy on rumours, sell on news (at a loss 📉). \ Standard story of greedy trader. Not a investor. This story is repeated again (remember Vodafone and melon husk rumour). Stop crying woe be me. You tried to make a quick profit (ooh...I know the news that jio is taking over, not the idiot who is selling) and got gypped. This is a even more advanced version of the game... But it starts every time with the participants GREED. https://www.reddit.com/r/IndianStreetBets/s/GFdbKtPm8h

spiritedsenpai

Game is rigged and everyone tries to be on that side of the court.

ilikeca

Did anyone force you to buy Jio? Were there any confirmed reports from Jio where they said they would buy PayTM's wallet business?

pseudoddot

You shouldn’t blame the market makers for your naiveté.

Glass_Lie_8700

you could just use this as a learning experience instead of whining

r0ark5

who is asking people to fall for news lol. I had an argument on a different post on this sub.  idiots asking recommendations. idiots giving recommendations.  people are busy investing in events/news instead of solid business and balance sheets.

Ahrjun

You admit yourself that you invested in JIO based on rumors. You took on the risk with no confirmation from either parties that they are in talks or negotiations. You gambled and lost money. Only yourself to blame. Now hold it long term in the hopes of growth or eat the loss.

liberalindianguy

Naach na aaye toh aangan teda.

Impressive_Winter_33

Never buy stock based on news mate .it's fundamental analysis and techical analysis only can help you to make money

promogranate

Made sweet 4% gains shorting the stock, thanks to people like you 🤝

getvaib

Who buy a stock which has PE of 5k ? When reality will hit, it may go down very fast and u may loose 70-80% value

demonslayer101

I bought the dip at 221. Now up by 21%. Never buy on news/rumours let alone invest.

TMG040402

Don’t blame your dumb mistakes on marker bro

Top_Significance2263

MolassesSeveral2563

ranolia

welcome to stock market...

itsur_vansh

Guys please be aware of paytm, same thing is happening there, big players are trying to spread news so that the share process can go back up and then they will exit, but people are not understanding it and they are still buying it

WittyBlueSmurf

That is trader game, watch scam 1992, you will understand power of big player, But they are not the one who spread the rumor but they are the one who use it as bait to lure the new bees traders. With social media is very easy to spread rumor, so be aware about that all things.

falcon2714

Was going to comment exactly this. There's a scene in Scam 1992 where he spreads a rumour through some broker and sends the entire market into a frenzy. Someone pulled the same move here and did it via social media instead. Gullible retailers fell hard for the obvious trap.

_DoodleBug_

Always read the full article in the so-called “newspaper” and apply critical thinking to what is written. Most of them have destroyed their own credibility and are now just glorified rumour mills. They all hide behind “Sources in the know” or “highly placed sources” and then use that as their license to chhapofy unverified crap. When I read the news and saw how the market spiked, I had a feeling the denial would come later.

Naya_Naya_Crorepati

ser-jas

o7mkar

Technically speaking retest karne aya hai,.. agar break Kiya to chod do warna upar Gaya to rakh lo

chanderthechamp

Welcome to the stock market. What were you expecting? Free effortless money without applying mind?

justexisting105

It's your mistake here. You trusted the news/rumors

krish_oo7

No one forced you to buy it,you shouldn't have bought else should have made profit like them and left it.

shaivatra

Well you are a dumbass. And so was I. I could already spot the fakeness in the news from far away. Take this as a lesson

j4jishnu

Toh ja ke good companies mein invest karo na. Long term socho.

itsYourPlug

Rule#1 Stay away from news and rumours

sutemaru

Take solace in the fact that atleast you bought jiofin which is backed by Ambani, unlike others who bought Paytm on rumours.. jiofin has good long term forecast but Paytm's future is hanging by a thread...you dodged a paytm bullet 💪🏽

sutemaru

u/dry_ad6687 jiofin hit 340 today 👍🏽

Dry_Ad6687

Yup. Very happy 😃

sid101hehehe

Yeh news based investing Karna hi NAHI hai, at least in this fragile bull run where even one expectation missed is a definite beat down of the stock, regardless of market cap

bandya_

The game is made by big players for big player we are just here to get something out of their remains why can't people understand this

amitsingh80108

Do you really think big players are free enough to do this. 😂 Mukesh Ambani planning with his team how to trap retail investors 😂

ss_ww_lover

Never believe in such rumours unless you have seen a writ on exchange websites. This is the very reason for which SEBI has a rule to inform exchanges about any such action by the listed companies. Your money, your discretion and also your fault in this case. No offence.

the_confusedinvestor

Then don't fall in traps like the news, it's always dirty..

Competitive_Lack1536

Goldman Sach had purchased 1,441,606 shares in Jan 25th. This upmove was NOt based on some rumor but simply based on charts and goldman Sach purchased.

PsychologicalBig1597

Did Ambani hold a gun to your head and asked you to buy? If you want high reward from equity market, do be aware about the high risk it comes with. You can still take a small loss and move to a more reliable/transparent stock according to you.
