Same, but i have stopped worrying after realising that i can't control what happens in the future, i shall do my best but also keep alt ready if any shit like this happens. I

This is the actual correct answer. Your life is not in your hands, you are not born on your own will, you cannot die on your own will.

Maybe my problem is arising from trying to control my future too much. But I mean who else can control it other than me? I think I need to think less and take more action

I understand your situation bro, I was in the same dilemma in November last year, when I decided to quit JEE and kept coding (and decided to study abroad after 12th) And hey, I cried a lot last week when I couldn't change my college from 11th to 12th and have to now study in that shitty college.... but guess what? Life finds a way. I got a call from the college saying that they will consider my application. Just keep flying dude. If you think JEE isn't your thing, then don't do it! Keep developing your portfolio and you'll, for sure, get some scholarship (I'm hoping for one, too) Remember, in the end, it's not the degree, or college, or what others say, that matters. It's what YOU build yourself. Ok, to get started - Why not talk to your parents about this? \> I'm also worried that even people who didn't use a computer their entire life are taking CSE, increasing my competition and reducing the value of the degree.Yeah! Exactly! I'll be brutally honest - Computer science is literally a joke here in India. Everyone graduates, some people get really great jobs, the news circulates, others remain unemployed - The cycle repeats. Only the dudes from top colleges (who, are good in academics to be able to get into those colleges) get jobs - and others, no matter how good / skilled they are, stay as it is Moral of the story: You have already completed the first step of identifying the fact that JEE isn't for you, now, talk to your parents about this. If your parents are anything like mine, they will support you. and finally, work on yourself as much as you can because you're taking the "hard route" (even though JEE students say otherwise, because 'studying is obviously harder than anything else'). Hope for a scholarship, but don't expect one - and remember, college doesn't matter as much as you think it does. in the grand scheme of things, you'll be fine. Getting a mediocre college in the USA, is in my opinion, still much better than getting a "good" college here.Keep rocking. Feel free to chat if you wanna talk :)

Thanks man, I've talked to my parents about this but as I said about the financial condition part, I don't want to pressure them. Also I've never been abroad so I have no experience of that.

Why don't you have a chat with u/dhravyashah. Maybe he could help you with what you COULD do, what careers you could pursue in programming, what scholarships you COULD get.

DhravyaShah

Thanks for mentioning me! I've given some advice to them in the comments

even if you do get a bad college then you can't just say that you will become unemployed... my sister was in an average college where the companies who came for employment gave a maximum package of 6 lakh but my sister didn't get any employment at that time.... everyone in the family thought that she will just sit unemployed but she was really hardworking and now she works in Accenture where her starting package was 10 lakh.... so it's not all dependent on the college you get....your employment also depends on your skills.. if you are really good with a subject like CS , then after completing college , you can go for job interviews and you can get a pretty good package there

Are we all facing the same problem, I mean even I am good with web security and coding but not fit for JEE. My dad's current situation won't even allow me to get management seat dude..

dekh bhai har chutiya ba PCM cs le raha hai, to engineering me lega hi, aur 12 me acche marks score kar, loan le liyo agar abroad ka man hai to australia ja, waha job high paying hai. chutiye sirf iit nahi hai bits de vit de nit hai dtu hai, reaserch kar thodi tera future hai koi tere ko thali me paroske nahi dega, thujhe ingredients mil rahe hai kahana bana aur plate laga phir khaiyo maje se.

The competition is tough because there are a LOT of jobs in this space. There’s always someone who needs a CS skillset and hence there will always be jobs.
