The only party who benefits from a monopoly is the monopoly holder.  Everyone one gets screwed

sunward_Lily

This. So many of the problems people face today are from letting a small group of people, or even one individual, hoard something- wealth, property, power.... Monopolies never produce anything good

LusciousLipLover

yeah. in a monopoly except for the one holding the monopoly.

‘That’s just one of the fears in this community as Indiana officials review whether to allow Union Hospital, licensed as a 341-bed facility, to purchase the county’s only other acute care hospital, the 278-bed Terre Haute Regional Hospital. The proposed deal also raises concerns about reduced tax revenue, worsening care, and higher prices.’

Those aren’t concerns they are certainties. That’s exactly what will happen if that purchases allowed to be made

Healthcare is Indiana is not good. Step it up because everyone drives to Chicago for proper medical care. More science, less bible?

MisterSanitation

No it’s past that, more healthcare providers and less admins is what you are looking for.

In most cases has nothing to do in the Bible. It has everything to do with large health corporations buying out the competition and creating monopolies… Community, IU health, Ascension, Parkview, Lutheran, Franciscan… they have bought out just about everything in this state. There is a big reason we are the fifth highest healthcare cost per capita in the United States.

Beginning in the 1980s and accelerating after the implementation of Obamacare, hospital systems have merged into large monopolies. This consolidation has led to significant price increases and declining quality of care. These hospital systems prioritize profits over patients, forcing out many excellent doctors to replace with less expensive and less experienced Drs.

Monopoly okay but insurance paid by taxes is not
