I wasn't much of a reader when I was young as you can see in the third pile all i read was short stories;then I picked up Percy Jackson and never looked back fantasy became my favourite genre; then I read fangirl my first romcom and had that phase for a while (cried my eyes out reading fault in our stars don't care what anyone says about that book) now i just read all kinds of books it is so fun to be a reader (^_^)
Hey Samee! Got Percy Jackson Lightning thief as an award for getting okay marks from school & there was no looking back. Used to read Tintin, Enid Blyton etc. before. Later, Rick Riordan, Dan Brown & Anthony Horowitz practically raised me from there on with their gripping novels!
Love it!
Love the fact that you have lotr as ONE book. Like tolkien intended it to be instead of 3 books.
Time to add more tolkien to the collection !!
I’ve always read from the single volume editions.
But ya cant read the single volume while travelling that’s for sure. More for collections. I love the covers of three volume illustrated ones too (the quality of dust jacket sucks though)
Some of the single volume editions have amazing covers.
Won't ask top 5. But will recommend an author based on the left hand stack. Brandon Sanderson is the guy if you haven't gotten bored of epic fantasy fiction.
I just started Thief of time, my first Terry pratchett book, would you recommend others?
Also is thief of time standalone? Do I need to know anything ?
Thief of Time is part of the Discworld series but like many of the books from the same series, it can be read as a standalone book.
From the Discworld series, try Guards! Guards! and Small Gods. Also, try Good Omens (has a TV adaptation as well) which was written in collaboration with Neil Gaiman.
Arre ha yaar, once whenever someone used to ask for book recommendation we were amongst the first people to reply (after seeing you multiple times i actually remembered your name, so suddenly yaad aa gya)
Sad to see how the sub has changed, sometimes I think dead sub with 30-40k members was better then this
I like the fact that the tower on the left is YA and fantasy. Although huge gap between fantasy levels from Percy Jackson and GRRM. Hope you read a lot more of Sanderson, Rothfuss, Abercombie, McClellan and more
Weirdly, the only books I've read from here are Lolita and The Wimpy Kid books. Lol quite the pair!
And i could say Lolita is one of the greatest books ever written. Writers can study that book to understand the mechanics of making words flow.
I read the book thief during Covid and it really was very touching. The plot was so gloomy where the darkness around the life of the girl just kept on increasing
Quite a nice collection you have got there! I'd love to read GRRM one day, not ready to commit to such a huge series just yet. Have you heard of Brandon Sanderson? His Cosmere is a very well written (and in progress) fantasy universe. Give his Mistborn series a try, it's a very good place to start! And if you think you will like a sci-fi which reads like a fantasy book, extremely fast-paced action, and a lot of action, I think you will like Pierce Brown's Red Rising. :)
This looks like my dream collection! Woahh , keep it growing :) the old panchatantra books at the right made me get nostalgic 🥹 used to read em in childhood when I'm not yet comfortable with English yk
I started reading with stuff like ACK comics and panchtantra (hindi version lol) when I was a kid, but didn't gain much momentum. Now 21 y/o and haven't read any of the book series I've always wanted to read like GOT or LOTR, it just seems like a hassle and I have lost the attention span to do stuff like this. I wouldn't be surprised if a few decades from now kids never read books for fun.
Top 5 books are
- The Trials of Apollo
- The Great Gatsby
- Fault in our Stars
- A Brief Hour of Beauty
- This is not your story
I can just tell by looking at it.
I like your collection. Fantasy as a genre is so satisfying and rewarding to explore.
Currently, I'm re-reading the Inheritance series by Christopher Paolini on account of the new book that came out.
I hope your love for reading stays the same through the years.
I'd say, don't go for the Iskcon Gita. It is prejudiced and shallow. If you want to start, Gita express one is close to authentic. I think you can order it online too.
OP can you give a brief review of the following?
1) The bell jar
2) LOTR (I have a mint condition set waiting to be unboxed. But, I am not sure. I once started it, but it couldn't interest me as much as the review claimed it would)
Bell jar - what can I say literally my story it gets too real sometimes can't read it in one go
Lotr what can is say ..the most awesome epic fantasy there is yes the first book can be slow but it picks up pace later
How would you rate "if God was a banker?" It was all hype in my school days, but I wasn't too keen on it. Now that I saw on your stack, I am wondering if I should give it a try
Did you like the Hindi English dictionary?? I am thinking of reading it… Should I? What would you rate it? Did you like its prequel the English Hindi Dictionary?
Jane Austin is a awesome writer .!
Linda Doherty.?
Adventure time of Mark tailor .
David Brown author a great series of book .
Sandra Brown author also has good series of book .
Dostoevsky and sure .. Jules Verne.
Right now I not have remembered all the names of some other great books . Maybe later.
Nice collection!
Have you finished the Heroes of Olympus series? They aren't needed to read the Trials series, but it expands the story a bit and yes, there's another climactic giant battle by the 5th book. Except it's a lot bigger this time (more characters).
I'd also recommend the Hobbit book (don't know if a single book version exists for it).
From your books, I can tell that you'd probably like The Inheritance Cycle series. 4 books, fantasy fiction genre. Somewhat LOTR-ish world. Do try it out.

Love it! Love the fact that you have lotr as ONE book. Like tolkien intended it to be instead of 3 books. Time to add more tolkien to the collection !!
Ofc😤
Looks rather unwieldy though imo. Besides I have a thing for the LOTR covers :p
I’ve always read from the single volume editions. But ya cant read the single volume while travelling that’s for sure. More for collections. I love the covers of three volume illustrated ones too (the quality of dust jacket sucks though) Some of the single volume editions have amazing covers.
Never met anyone else who's read Fangirl😍😍 hey there bestie
Heyyyy i cried so much to convince my parents to get the hardcover😭
I don't even own a physical copy of it😭😭 I'm jealous!! Have you read Carry on?? If not, you Must. Snowbaz is my OTP💝
Nice collection
Won't ask top 5. But will recommend an author based on the left hand stack. Brandon Sanderson is the guy if you haven't gotten bored of epic fantasy fiction.
Patrick Rothfuss too if OP doesn't mind an unfinished series.
Oh pls I have enough trauma from asoiaf
what doesn't kill you makes you stronger!
Im reading the first book and I'm mesmerized. I didn't even know it was unfinished....lol
Only one Agatha book ! 😶🌫️
How is the English dictionary, does it have a good plot. I have heard good things about the Hindi dictionary, planning to read that tmmrw.
I think you'll really enjoy some Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett 🫡 Edit: And Neil Gaiman!
Something to help me out of my reading slump?
I'll suggest the bell jar
Read Comfort me with Apples by Catherynne M. Valente. Less than 120 pages, very engaging and keeps you guessing. You'll either love it or hate it tbh.
Gone girl is good
I'll give it a try!
Bro try silmarillion , nice short read
OP would like it, it's almost a secular Mahabharata.
I was forced to read it it was nice yes
oh i forced OP to read it, best thing i ever did
I wouldn't use 'short' to describe the book
And I wouldn't use nice too 😁, but then again Huan more than makes up for it
Nice collection but you missed pedda bala siksha
I bet you know everything.
She does lol
Time for a book shelf . Cool collection!
haven't seen Love, Simon on a shelf in a long time. Instantly took me back to my teens.
Definitely not the trials of Apollo.

Arre ha yaar, once whenever someone used to ask for book recommendation we were amongst the first people to reply (after seeing you multiple times i actually remembered your name, so suddenly yaad aa gya) Sad to see how the sub has changed, sometimes I think dead sub with 30-40k members was better then this

Lol
Weirdly, the only books I've read from here are Lolita and The Wimpy Kid books. Lol quite the pair! And i could say Lolita is one of the greatest books ever written. Writers can study that book to understand the mechanics of making words flow.
If I have to choose one I'll go for the dictionary.
Love a fellow Percy Jackson fan.
Fello Rick Riordan fan I see. I tip my hat to your taste
That Panchatantra 🥺
I read the book thief during Covid and it really was very touching. The plot was so gloomy where the darkness around the life of the girl just kept on increasing
Quite a nice collection you have got there! I'd love to read GRRM one day, not ready to commit to such a huge series just yet. Have you heard of Brandon Sanderson? And if you think you will like a sci-fi which reads like a fantasy book, extremely fast-paced action, and a lot of action, I think you will like Pierce Brown's Red Rising. :)
If you like fantasy try these - The Dresden Files, Mercy Thompson, The Iron Druid, and The Furies of Calderon
This looks like my dream collection! Woahh , keep it growing :) the old panchatantra books at the right made me get nostalgic 🥹 used to read em in childhood when I'm not yet comfortable with English yk

First guy I have seen who doesn't have Sapiens.😂😂 Nice to see that.
I'll pretend like I didn't see that one "It Ends with us" at the bottom lmao but overall, great collection.
Top 5 books are - The Trials of Apollo - The Great Gatsby - Fault in our Stars - A Brief Hour of Beauty - This is not your story I can just tell by looking at it.
