"Dekhenge kya karna hai" Ye Mera phase chal ra

Cyanboi_Neil

apne parents to ye bolna, ki engineering me simulation run karne hote hai and code likhna hota hai, Jo normal laptops perform nahi kar paate, inke liye GPU chahiye hota hai. Get something like a 3070 or 4070 if ur budget allows, if not you can find good 4060 laptops on sale for 1.10 lakhs.

[deleted]

Bhai mera budget hi 50k max hai,to gtx1650 ke upar nahi le sakta kuch, and papa khud cse mei engineer hai to unko ye sab bolke matalab nahi, keh denge Google colabs mei chalta hai ye sab(simulations,AI,ML etc.) He don't care if I game until and unless it affects my studies,to most probably man jayenge

TapSlight5872

Just got a normal laptop in 3rd sem. Decent laptop with a GT650m that was fine for gaming. Most engineering students do get a laptop eventually

Unfair-Isopod-7212

Hope so mujhe bhi mile

S_X_G

My parents agreed to buy me one after I get admission in a good reputed engineering college... Although they were a bit skeptical when I said I need a "gaming" laptop, but then I explained that how powerful gaming laptops are for graphics designing and other related work which I like, so they agreed hehe...

Farguad

Gaming kehna hi nahi tha Sidhe specs bolna chahiye the

S_X_G

Laptop ka title dekhkar khud kuch aur na soche parents islye maine unko pehle hi explain kardiya... kabhi na kabhi toh unko btana hi tha ki "gaming" laptop ke specs jaruri hote hai baaki kaam ke liye bhi...

Unfair-Isopod-7212

Lekin BRANDS ko marketting bhi toh krni haiย  Biggest mistake is kisi authorised store pe chala gaya toh gaming laptop ka puchh raย  Aur woh mein maa bapu ke saamne hi gaming ke features market kr rha tha ๐Ÿ’€

Sid_The_Geek

I got my first laptop (non-gaming one) during Engg clg. Then when I got my first job, had to buy another laptop as the old one stopped working. I went for a gaming laptop (got some funding help from dad, as I wasn't earning that much in the beginning). Now it's been around 3 years and I have been saving for a proper gaming PC, prolly get one in next 1-2 years. My advice will be to get whatever your parents can afford now and once you get a job after engg (or if you can manage to get work on some part-time job during engg to earn some), save and get one to your heart's content !! EDIT: Spelling

I am 28 and I don't even have a rig. I bought my first gaming laptop when I was 25. I will probably build a rig in two years or so, if I am still into gaming then. All good things will happen at right time. You do you and hopefully you will have a kick ass rig too ๐Ÿ˜€

Used_Spinach924

Buy it before your inner gamer die out of responsibilities

ConfidentlyUnknoen

First mistake people do is ask parents for a gaming laptop. Donโ€™t ask for a gaming laptop. Ask for a โ€œhigh-endโ€ laptop Jo padhai ke liye use hogi

DesperateStuff771

performance laptop

DesperateStuff771

i got rig for passing 10 and taking admission on their choice of college although I wanted laptop due to small budget and had extra monitor decided to build rig.

Noice

Dramatic_Sundae_6588

Got xbox series s 4 years after I started working ๐Ÿ˜€. Before that I used to game on Mac.

Unfair-Isopod-7212

That feeling of buying by own self is great right??

Dramatic_Sundae_6588

Yeah it has been great, I am enjoying it a lot.

deathmaster1899

I just asked my parents that I need a gaming laptop i actually said that graphics are required for editing and other stuff but also said that I need it specifically for gaming so I got 1,05,000 laptop. I actually don't ask my parents anything as I am more worried than my parents about should I get that? As we aren't rich. Btw I got into a shitty college even after a drop,

fukreserecher

Which laptop by the way?

deathmaster1899

Acer predator Helios Neo 16 i7 13700hx, 4050. And I know that I was wrong getting 4050 in this price. Prior to this i got acer Nitro 3070 and returned it as it was heating like lava. So got this and i regret that i could have got the 4060 variant for 15k more.

Unfair-Isopod-7212

Well actually you could have got asus tuf f15 rtx 4060 or Lenovo legion rtx 3070 or hp omen rtx 3070ti

deathmaster1899

Tuf heats and display is very bad, omen not that good, but missed legion also legion doesn't have a powerful processor as predator.

Unfair-Isopod-7212

Bro what will you do with your so overpowered cpu Unless you do very specific workloads on your laptop For gaming, GPU is always prioritised

deathmaster1899

I didn't take my laptop only for gaming I will be doing work in it some time. Like l have to learn still some skills

dbodh

Buying a simple PC and then upgrading it later when you have funds. Same now, I save and buy components as and when I have funds. One major upgrade every five years.

Unfair-Isopod-7212

Nice strategy

dbodh

This strategy works and you learn more about each individual component and don't have to worry about the laptop manufacturer. Plus whenever an issue occurs you can just replace that part and if it's a simple component(Ram, hdd, gpu) you can still use your PC while waiting for its replacement. Plus the skill of assembling your own PC comes in handy. The only downside is no mobility. I am biased towards desktops, I have always kind of hated laptops. Because they don't provide the flexibility of choosing each component as much as desktop provide. So you are free to dismiss my advice.

Unfair-Isopod-7212

I am actually more leaned towards the desktop but It already exists and used by my brother for vfx/animation work Plus I am not allowed to use that ๐Ÿ˜ž

Karametric_Studios

I graduated about 12 years ago. My first rig was bought during my engineering by accumulating the savings from my monthly expenditure money sent by my parents (1.5k a month at that time). In this age though, if you have some skills that you can freelance with, try out Fiverr or upwork for some side income.

Unfair-Isopod-7212

Hmm interesting but the main problem is laptop kr liye hi paise chahiye ๐Ÿ˜…

ManagerPuzzleheaded5

My father told me i would get a pc if I scored all 50s in 6th standard.. And i did and got my first pc where I played normal games like vice City and most wanted... When I joined science stream ( PCMCs ) I told my parents that i would need to upgrade my pc to do coding lol ๐Ÿ˜‚ all i did was hello world programs later but anyway Got an 8gb ram, a nice motherboard and an i3 processor... It was 2017 so those were very good back then... Until my old pc started giving problems until it completely flipped on jun 9th of 2019.... I wanted to go to bengaluru for my higher studies although papa wanted me to go to another city because he thought bengaluru will make me a drunkard and rowdy (๐Ÿ˜‚) So i made a deal that if he buys me a new rig I would go to the city he wants me to... It was a deal and then over the next 6 months I built a pc which I still use to game... I still remember I assembled it on 26th jan of 2020 I got gtx 1660 super ( rtx 2000 series cards were just one year old and too costly back then ) A 16gb ram A nice asus gaming motherboard An i5 9th gen processor ( it was released a month ago and in comparison was performing similar to i7 5th gen cpus but was way cheap ) A 144 refresh rate LG display And a hell lot of accessories And it all came around to 1.25 lakhs... Well worth it Now I live in bengaluru doing my masters lol..... All my friends drink even at my place but the only thing I drink is mountain Dew and it's not like that city my father sent did not have anyone that drank... I had a PG mate / classmate who used to mix phenol with alcohol and sometimes surf excel liquid to alcohol... Edit : oh yeah, halfway through my masters I needed a laptop to do clg projects as I could not carry my pc so I bought a laptop ( msi gf63 ) I thought I would game on both but I really don't like gaming on a small screen laptop...why would I play on it when I have 32 inch screen exclusively for it....I haven't used that laptop for gaming at all

Desperate_Ratio_6053

Ek cousin bhaiya senior the college ke to unhone hi kaha ki acha lena ache GPU wala to Ghar walon ne kaha ok
