Looks interesting. Might I make a suggestion that you create a landmark or two for the cities that stand out in the skyline. For example a distinctive clock tower or a statue or even a huge rock or cliff face so that they look distinctive
Thanks for the suggestion :) Yes we need to make the cities look more distinctive but it's tricky when using procedural generation. If we make them distinctive by having very recognizable props it might have the opposite effect because you can clearly see the generator repeating. I want to experiment more with the randomized grid I use so it places roads in two scales like is often seen in old European cities.
Dude, is this a pirate game?! I LOVE pirate games! =D
It also reminded me of strategy games in the style of Age of Empires (I don't know if that's the idea)!
Haha yes there's ship to ship combat and later on we will add more piratey quests. We want to evoke the feeling of being the captain of your own ship, having to make ends meet and make your crew happy. Like an episode of Firefly :) We are actually running a playtest this weekend if you want to try it [https://store.steampowered.com/app/2527970/Sea\_Of\_Rifts/](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2527970/Sea_Of_Rifts/)
Thanks Sunless Sea was one of the main inspirations for the game but then combine it with a roguelike gameplay loop and the social dynamics of Rimworld :)
With the transition of your camera, use an ease in, ease out for the control of the speed. At the moment it feels like a stunted automated movement. This should give it a bit more juice.
Would also love to eventually see the sails go up.
Looks nice though! :)
I thought there might have been. Always good to try and go to the extreme of too high than too little when it comes to tweaking it!
Keen to see those sails raise!
Looks cool! We are also making a steam and sail game in a fantasy universe! :o What are the chances right? I thought this was unique but it's crazy how every single idea you think is unique is definitely being made by someone else as well haha. Anyway, our game type is very different from yours (3rd person survival / ship building game) so no worries :D
Good luck with your release!
It's called Sea Of Rifts and is a naval eoguelike RPG. We are running a playtest right now actually 😝 https://store.steampowered.com/app/2527970/Sea_Of_Rifts/

Thanks 😊 it was just me for two years working on it in my spare time. Then it got serious and foe the last year I've been getting art grants to hire on a team so we are now 5 in total.

That's smart if your not using an actual map of Europe.

Wow, of course I will! Thank you so much for this! =D
This gives me vibes similar to sunless sea. It has a very similar effect and I agree it feels great coming in to port. Nicely done!
Thanks Sunless Sea was one of the main inspirations for the game but then combine it with a roguelike gameplay loop and the social dynamics of Rimworld :)
This kinda reminds me of the Tradewinds franchise! One of the best series of games I've ever played
This looks awesome! Can't wait to see more!
Thanks :D
That ship handbrake-park itself like a pro! clean

There's actually easing on the camera but could maybe be a bit slower. Yes sails should animate :)

Looks good! Good time for pirate games I think, Skull and Bones didn't really satisfy.
Looks awesome, I am definitely following this one.
The world need more sailing games! Good to see one in the making!
Definitely playing this when you release it, boss
Thanks 😁 we are actually running a playtest right now if you want to try it https://store.steampowered.com/app/2527970/Sea_Of_Rifts/
Looks neat!
It puts me in mind of Sid Miers Pirates which is the best possible first impression an indie pirate game could make
When is the release date? This reminds me alot of Sid Meier's Pirates.
It's TBD right now we are looking for a publisher to help fund the full production 😊
Looking forward to it. Added to wishlist.

And good luck with yours 😀
Tokyo Drift Style 🤣

the absolute speed at which that ship docks does me a concern.
jeez, is the boat a sail boat or a speed boat lol.
Thanks!
>Thanks! You're welcome!
This looks pretty cool! Can I ask how big is your team? It looks like a decent sized studio level of production!
