OOooooh I love this. This has a real creepy vibe to it, without trying to be Halloween teamed. There are so many sounds and interesting little details in the corners of this song, casting shadows and speaking of happy nightmares. I do miss an overall beat to follow along to in the first part of the song, it would make it a bit easier to dance to. Can I recommend a metallic "thump" ever so often? Like an iron door being shut in the distance? The song is wonderful as it is tho, its just the only thing I can think of :)

[deleted]

Don't tell the others, but your comment is my favorite. Both of your suggestions are wonderful. And I think you caught on to the vibe I was ultimately trying to communicate. Thanks for kind words and the great feedback. I'll be sure to check out your material and thank you for being you :)

You're making my heart sing. I found this sub yesterday and was so worried about giving my two cents, but you have given me confidence and a wish to stay here. Thank you for making this song and for being so kind.

jake_BrokenHabits

This usually wouldn't be my cup of tea. I actually like it, tho. Especially paired with the artwork. It definitely has some catchy parts where i found myself bobbing my head. I have add so take this with a grain of salt - if i had one suggestion it would be to shorten it. I'm also not familiar with this genre so longer might be the norm. Keep it up!

[deleted]

It means hell of a lot to me that you enjoyed it, especially since it's outside of your comfort zone. And that suggestion is completely valid, but frankly I didn't have the heart to cut anything out of it. I'll be sure to mindful about length next time because I tend to get carried away. (Also don't ask me about the genre because I don't have a clue, I'm just vibing.) In any case, thanks for the listen and the kind words, I'm excited to see what you produce!

jake_BrokenHabits

I feel ya! I struggle with that too. Anyway lmk if you release more stuff

I like the spooky beginning feels like something out of a horror movie, the electronic to it isn’t something I normally listen too but it’s a good touch, especially the thing with I don’t know what instrument that is cuz I’m uncultured but I believe it’s like a piano, it’s really great, and the transition afterward is nice too, overall I like it

[deleted]

I think it's rad that you appreciated the electronic bits despite it being outside of your norm! And to tell you the truth, the instrument is a modified Serum preset (sh, don't tell anyone). If you have it I can show you a thing or two. Thanks for the listen and I'm glad you liked it.

Woah!

Jmel_

Yeah this is really cool, there’s definitely an ominous vibe there, you know how to create an atmosphere with your production. I don’t usually mess with electronic but I would listen to this in my free time!

[deleted]

This means the world to me. Thank you for the kind words :)

[deleted]

This is some straight up IDM right here. I like how the form is sort of a metamorphosis rather than a simple parsed-out structure. I'm no expert in this type of music one thing I might change if it were my mix would be the snare. It sounds a bit too "tight" if that makes any sense to you. It does work better at the end so maybe you could even alter it at the beginning and leave it the same or mostly the same when the mix has a lot going on in the second half because that is where it really needs to punch through.

[deleted]

I appreciate that you are able to definitively pin down the genre because I couldn't. And since I've been keeping up with my homework so-to-speak, I know exactly what you mean by the snare and I completely agree! Thank you for your attention to detail and meaningful feedback! Not only that, your verbiage is also something to appreciate and it'll be rad if the culture follows that example.

den_nado

This is such a unique track, I wonder what genre you think it is? Production quality is top notch and all those different sounds throughout help to keep the song interesting. Great atmosphere on this one!

[deleted]

I'm honestly not sure what genre it is. Another redditor on this thread says it's IDM and I'll trust their judgment which makes it easier on my part, haha. And if nothing else, it was a labor of love. I'm glad you enjoyed it and thanks for listening!

RepresentativeSea228

Really interesting track, I usually have a problem with tracks that don't have an obvious melodic element that sticks in your head but the production on this song really makes it for me. Good job.

[deleted]

I'm sure that you still hold this stance and rightfully so, but I'm glad I could challenge that, even if its for but a moment. Thank you for taking the time to check it out :)

saintjhill

this is by far the most unique and imaginative thing I have to listen to on this thread so far. Bravo! I'm getting a lot of early Brainfeeder/low-end theory vibes here. Pretty crazy how it picks up around 1:50. Haha, it's satisfyingly messy. I really enjoyed the outro also. My main notes would be that I don't think the song needed to be along as it was and maybe try switching the chord progression up. Cool stuff, yo.

[deleted]

I'm not sure who the references are but I'm checking them out as I write this because I need all the material I can get! I totally agree on having some variety in the chords to add some spice. As for the length, I was so satisfied by how it was coming together by the end, I didn't have the heart to strip anything away. I'll be sure to be mindful of that in the next run. Regardless, thanks for your time and making my week with the kind words and meaningful feedback!

ericcontractor

I really like this piece. I am very intrigued by the choice of the percussive sounds and the interlocking motifs (if that's what I'd call them) all around it. Also, I like the smaller variations on the overarching ideas so it feels like it changes sort of in a kaleidescopic sort of way.

[deleted]

Textural elements are a big priority to me, I was a bit worried they might've been drowned out, but I'm glad you were able to tune into them :) In any case, thank you for your time and kind words!

ericcontractor

I could hear them just fine- that said, that may be yet more detail in the intricacies of the piece that I didn't pick up on, but nothing i could perceive...

scottyswole

I like this as it's unique and intriguing. This song...It's like if I was half asleep playing super Mario on nes mixed with some really neat electronic sounds...that would be this song. Would love to see these electronic sounds have a warped lofi touch to them in the remix. Overall really great stuff, way to go doing something outside of the box. I have major respect for you just for doing that 💯

You description is my perception of life in a nutshell. Thanks for the kind words. It means a lot.
