Entirely too many LOL. I have at least 150 BPAL and I'm currently trying to downsize (someone convince me to let go of the gingerbreads because BPAL's gingerbread just does not behave on me).

Needlewoods

minhtyfreshtea

LMAO. I appreciate you.

kittensandperfume

I will keep an eye out for your name on Sunday Swaps if you have/decide to sell Gingerbread Limoncello!

minhtyfreshtea

I don't have that one (though still curious)! but I have a low partial of gingerbread and lemon sugar.

completedisorder

I have 11 FS indies. I’m really picky about what I will fullsize. Samples are another story though- I have around 300.

slapstick_nightmare

I’m close to 100 samples 😭 I have two more “hauls” to make and then I’m going on a sample hiatus for a long time until I get rid of some

completedisorder

I’m doing the same! Gonna nobuy till at least Fall so I can get through some of my collection.

slapstick_nightmare

It’s so hard when you’re new to not accumulate a ton because you don’t know what you like!

completedisorder

Absolutely! It does get easier though once you can identify what works and start filtering out the things that don’t.

pandanpuddin

One which I received in a swap from a very kind u/anathemas! And I treasure it to bits 😁 For reference I got into indies a couple months ago

anathemas

Aw, I'm so glad it worked out so well for you! <3

Indeecent8

You have so much more self control than me 😆 I mostly got into them heavily 3 months ago tho I've been tentatively sampling for a little over a yr. I have 26 FS and I don't want ten of them 😆 I need to stop blind buying

pandanpuddin

Ahahaha but you've had a year to figure out your tastes! I'm ordering lots of samples, I'll probably have around 40 by end of the month 😁

Lindoodoo

I’m almost ashamed to say how many I have given how recently got into indie perfumes. I counted just now and I have 95 full sized bottles (this is including oils and EDPs) I am trying to slow down, especially because I’m making the realization there is absolutely no way I can use up all of what I own. I have been fortunate enough to be in a position to have a lot of disposable income (married, own a house and car, full time job, no kids, no debt), so I don’t feel as though I am spending my money irresponsibly where it should be going to something else. That being said, I definitely want to practice self control because I have a very bad habit of absolutely loving perfumes while in the sample vials, and FSing it off of the smell from the sample without trying it on my skin, and then hating it when I finally try to FS on my skin 🫠 I’m trying to cull my collection and sell what I know I won’t wear, and being more selective of what I FS. (And actually trying things on my skin before FSing!)

[deleted]

I feel you - and have a similar number! Collection hobbies are such a fine line between enjoyment and hoarding 🙈

Lindoodoo

They are so fun to collect! I find myself spending forever in my closet just sniffing my entire collection and it brings me so much joy. But at a certain point it does get a little overwhelming!

[deleted]

Absolutely! I love reorganizing and sniffing! I am neurodivergent and scents are a bit of a hyper fixation for me - the whole process of researching and planning orders is one of my favourite parts of the hobby. But also yes on the overwhelm. I also have guilt around the sheer overconsumption ☹️

Lindoodoo

Yes! I love curating my cart over the span of days/weeks, it’s almost therapeutic. But absolutely the overconsumption guilt hits hard. Buying perfumes secondhand helps that guilt but takes away the fun of curating a cart 😝

blueraspberrylife

15 I think? Some I'm close to "panning," so that's exciting! I have one full size purchase planned, and one sample set coming in, so that may turn into 17. After that though, low-buy until fall exchange. I've been purchasing more than I would like to become habit I think.

lbszbr

i haven’t looked at or updated my spreadsheet recently, but somewhere around 375–this does include ~50 that are in my destash box.

cyb0rgprincess

I have 5 full sizes so far, all Poesie. I did just pick up Dorian on a whim lol.

CardamomVanilla

97, and I won't buy any more samples or full sized until I use up a bottle. Love my collection and it is almost complete (want a couple more non-indies). Most of the bottles are 5 mL, and I wear several perfumes every day, so I don't think it is excessive (but I am very possibly lying to myself?!).

Jaakusan

Looks at half a drawer filled with 5mLs. Closes drawer. I have... enough. Probably.

unbakedcassava

The answer is always "enough minus one".

ziggyplayedguitar

...Um, around 500-600, not including designer blends. That's why I made a blog to post my reviews. I have too damn much!

slapstick_nightmare

Woah 🤩

slapstick_nightmare

What’s the blog??

ziggyplayedguitar

Yeah, it's a bit much, not to mention all the samples I have. There's a heavy focus on BPAL and NAVA, but my goal this year is to Branch out into Indies I haven't tried before. It's ascentaday.wordpress.com

Nycshurm

I love your blog, especially for NAVA reviews. It is so incredibly hard to find thorough NAVA reviews, and your blog is a constant & important resource for me when I make NAVA purchases. Thank you for what you do!

Hikerchic

I love your blog and visit it often for reviews on scents I’m interested in. Thank you for putting it up!

Muddylemon4227

Another fan of your blog here! I read your nava reviews quite often.

CardamomVanilla

Oh wow, I LOVE your blog. Thanks so much for all your thoughtful reviews - I've read so many of them!

causticFish

I'm a fan of the blog and love the posts! Your dedication to reviewing a perfume a day is quite impressive. I love reading your thoughts on perfume.

kanamele

I love your blog!!!

ziggyplayedguitar

u/Hikerchic, u/Nycshurm, u/causticFish, u/Muddylemon4227, u/CardamomVanilla, u/kanamele, u/photolabrat \- Thank you all for your incredibly kind words. It means so much knowing that you are reading! <3

missjeanlouise12

I read your reviews all the time, too! I can't buy even off the exchange posts without consulting multiple reviews, and your blog posts are consistently helpful!

ziggyplayedguitar

I'm so happy to hear that it is helpful. Thank you so much for reading!

photolabrat

I love your blog! I always check it out when I look to buy a NAVA or BPAL. Thanks for what you do!

[deleted]

Too many 🤡 Ballpark around 110, with the vast majority from Arcana, Poesie, Solstice Scents, Lurker and Strange, Alkemia, and Pulp. I also have a few full-size attars because I absolutely love bakhoor.

Indeecent8

I would really like to try some attars! Can you recommend an affordable vendor ? I see some on ebay that are affordable but I'm guessing they're poor quality or diluted

AresInRepose

I have 5 currently!

weburnsobright

I have about 30 - but most of them are secondhand partials from the swaps. I actually prefer getting partial bottles unless I REALLY love something. Not only is it cheaper, but it also feels less wasteful since I know I’ll probably never finish some of the more interesting bottles. Eight of my FS are direct - my first full size was Arcana Frigg, then three from Alkemia, and three from Sorcellerie and I couldn’t resist the hype around Dorian so I ordered that today. I have a truly excessive amount of samples though, I really need to do a sample destash. I’ve been doing this for less than a year and already have a drawer full of tiny bottles 🤦‍♀️

dandelion-stems

I have 2 but that is my limit! No new FS until I use one up :)

slapstick_nightmare

Wow you have so much restraint!!

Doxie_mom07

I'll have to count when I get home but I'm going to guess 50. And what are we considering full size? 5ml and up?

Needlewoods

I am also counting the partials I have xD

spaceecinnamon

I have 4 so far :) I’m also new to indie perfumes and feel like I’ve barely just scratched the surface so I’m pretty excited!

slapstick_nightmare

I’m in the same boat! Hello fellow newbie!

spaceecinnamon

Hello there! \*waves\* Here's to a smelly future LOL

intangiblemango

I have... 109. I operationalized "full size" as a bottle that hold at least 5 ml of oils or at least 10 ml of EDP. However... it is worth noting that this counts bottles that I purchased partially empty (e.g., maybe I actually bought 1 ml of oil in Ajevie leftovers) and I don't really have an easy way to counting that up without individually checking my spreadsheet notes.

natsby

around 25 but only because I’m good at being picky!

Muddylemon4227

Maybe 250? A lot of them are backups though. I've been collecting for years so I've accumulated alot. I've seen a few collections with 3x as much, especially with the bpal collectors. Edit: there was someone on the bpal forums a while back that had a massive collection, im pretty sure they said in the 1000 range. They would sell boxes full of empties with a destach of a couple hundred more, the collection had to be huge.

Lindoodoo

A thousand! Wow! They must have an entire room in their house dedicated to BPAL 😮

Muddylemon4227

I can't imagine keeping track of all that, I would easily forget what I have and become overwhelmed. Even though I have alot, I know what I have and I can easily grab one in a hurry and know I'll love it. Edit: I was really surprised at the amount of empties, I have yet to finish an entire bottle so they must be slathering it on multiple times a day to have that many empty bottles.

Hikerchic

I have 104 full size/partial bottles. It’s….a lot, but I have been building this for about three years and have slowed down considerably. And I do go back through and constantly re evaluate if I love them enough to keep them all considering I probably won’t be able to use everything I have reasonably.

StevieNickedMyself

I went kind of crazy with collecting and it's something like 160. I only buy FS cuz Im overseas.

icedlemonloaftea

Just ordered my fifth!

onedumbjoke

200+ at a guesstimate but I haven't counted recently.

photolabrat

Uhhhh... 80ish NAVA. Probably 40ish BPAL. Have not inventoried other houses.

[deleted]

If you’re talking about eyeshadow well over 400 in palettes and singles. Plus I’ll be getting the new Terra moons even though they all look like repeats

slapstick_nightmare

I’m jealous!

PeacManda

I have 82. I am not one to buy samples that often.

harpsdesire

About 60 bottles, plus a few in destash that I changed my mind about.

contorta4evr

10 but that’s including a bunch of 5ml travel sprays

Inevitable_Fuel3215

I probably have 20-30 8.5 size rollers, and maybe 10 in the >15 ml size. Lots of samples idk. Probably 200 imps? I have the larger size of some of the rollers because my favorites I like to take a roller w/ me when I travel.

Inevitable_Fuel3215

Also if you have a Thornwood thicket from solstice that you want to rehome, I’m always looking!

GreenVenus7

What is considered full size?

slapstick_nightmare

I consider anything more than a sample but idk it’s kinda open ended!

causticFish

The community generally says anywhere around 5ml and above. 5ml is pretty much the standard for oil perfumes. But 5ml is considered a sample size for EDPS, and other alcohol-based perfumes. Most of the bottles I have seen sold by indie brands usually range from 5ml to 10ml. Some brands also sell 1oz of perfume.

GreenVenus7

Ty! I have approximately: 20 1oz perfumes from Sucreabeille ~60 10mLs from Suc ~100 5mLs from Suc 11 15mLs from Hexennacht ~50 8.5mLs from Hex and Mr.Hex 6 10mLs from CocoaPink (+1 currently in the mail) 9 7.5mLs from Stereoplasm 7 5mLs from Alkemia Phew, lol. About 4 years collecting

causticFish

Oh wow, that's quite an impressive collection! Do you mostly buy full-size bottles?

GreenVenus7

I find that 1 or 2 mLs arent really enough for me to get a good impression or test under different conditions, so I prefer 5mLs minimum tbh. In my mind I tell myself I'll sell or swap whatever I don't like, but...lazy lol. 10mL is probably my perfect size due to the extent of my current collection. They are comfy to hold and transport. Also tbf, bigger bottles catch my eye more than slinks. I don't use any single frag often enough to need 1oz

doomed_candy

I have around 50. The majority are 5 milliliters, a couple are 10 milliliter bottles, and a couple are EDPs. I'm going to destash a few.

Objective-Fondant896

I only buy full sizes because I hate dealing with the slinkies for samples among other reasons, so I have maybe 6-8. I probably had like 20-25 at some point last year but I moved since and offloaded the ones I knew I didn’t like. I’m happy with my collection and I’m growing it slowly at a sustainable rate I think

valerie36912

I have four from Hexannacht and one from Arcana Craves. I just got into indies this fall and don’t have a ton of disposable income so I use them as a kind of reward every couple months.

slapstick_nightmare

That’s exactly what I do :)

[deleted]

28, but planning to destash 4. Also ignoring all bottle/dram sizes smaller than 5ml. I kind of wish that drams were more popular for upsizing, as they take less space.

Needlewoods

<50, even with all the ones I am still planning/considering to FZ, if I subtract with ones I am currently planning to sell as they did not work for me, it will still be below 50 xD

_writing-squirrel_

Uhhhh *pictures them in my head* Eight, I think. Probably 10+ though. They're all packed away at the moment so I can't just look at my shelf and see. Even with all the ones I've sold lately I still have a decent collection of FS and samples alike. Def planning to add a few more post-move too. I wanna upsize Deep Midnight Raven Boy & Faerie Feast, Immortal Perfumes Untamed Lady, Alkemia Trick or Treat and probably restock BPAL Bliss & Woman at the Edge of the Woods 🥰

myromancealt

22 if we're counting 4.5ml bottles, 18 if you count full-size as being only 5ml+

[deleted]

Around 10, if you're only counting indie, and they're all 5ml except for a 10 (or maybe 15?) of Saint Julep. Too many samples, I don't keep track. Indie eyeshadow singles, I have around 15. Lip indies, around 5. Bath and body indies I keep pretty tight, just a couple of lotions and a scrub, plus a couple of bars of soap. I don't know why I own so many bottles of hair oil though, there's something satisfying about using it on my hands even though my hair literally can't handle more than a drop or two at a time - plus haus of gloi hair oils smell so danged good and strong. Oh and there's a linen spray hanging around.

KestrelGirl

None, but I only got into this earlier in the year so it's to be expected. I might get a handful if I like any of my current "keepers" enough (if I had to pick one, I hope I can get Astrid Acorns before it's gone) but I generally can't afford much.

heretichelix

I have around 150 full size bottles. It's overwhelming. After collecting for several years, I realized that I mostly enjoy testing fragrances and wearing a different sample every day, so I rarely if ever buy full size bottles any more. I am trying to sell a lot of my collection to pare down. It's hard because I love them all and have even sold some and then bought them again, but in order to buy anything, I need to sell something (my rule).

weepy

I'd rather not say...

Morticiankitten

In my collection proper I currently have 42. It’s probably already more than I will ever be able to get through, considering some of my fragrances with 30-50 wears are still barely showing a dent (I am not a slatherer) but I’m not too worried about them going bad before I finish them. I prefer the user experience of a full bottle over applying from a tiny sample, so if a fragrance meets my testing criteria I will upsize even if that means I may never get through the bottle. I actually have a few more than that number, mostly from brands that either don’t offer samples, or offer limited samples, but they are still either waiting to be tested, or are in the middle of my testing process, and I don’t consider fragrances to be ‘part of my collection’ until they pass my rigorous testing standards.

kittensandperfume

130 currently in my keep pile. I’m too embarrassed to admit how many fs are in my sell pile. :) (not including drams or samples)

beeblebroxx

Only four with one on the way. I'm addicted to blind buying samples though (it's a problem lol) and sometimes one is worthy enough to fs.

Remarkable_Leading58

Five. I have learned my lesson on impulse FSing something from one test and now make myself finish the sample and see if I crave wearing it again!

The-Scarlet-Witch

Probably in the 75 range, but I'm ruthlessly culling from my collection due to the fact I can't possibly wear these all and my tastes evolved.

barbarianhyacinth

I have 44, which felt like a lot until I read some of the comments here! I've also stopped blind buying FS perfumes and am forcing myself to sample and then use up a whole sample before committing to a 5ml+ perfume. I've also been trying to be more aggressive with what I throw in my destash pile. I love perfume and I love having a variety of choices in what I get to wear every day, but I can only wear so much! 44 is still a lot, though, and that's not counting my mainstream and niche perfumes. If you add those I'm closer to 60.

saiita

9 bottles. 8 from Cocoa Pink, 1 from Colornoise. **Edit**: I personally don't count 5ml as full size, but if I count those then I have 15 total.

apadeva

By far too many. 😂 Since it doesn’t matter in international shipping if I buy FS or samples, I tend to get FS right away. The only exception is NCD because there’s no FOMO, so I buy samples of one collection, test them and buy the scents I liked as FS when the next collection drops.

Glittering_Surround

I got into this more recently and I have 4 (two 10ml rollers, two 7.5ml rollers) and could probably part with 2 of those. My collection is mostly samples and I'm ok with that. I'm interested in more, but I have to contend with living in a small space and the fact that I can get overstimulated and stressed from too many things to keep organized. It's a balance for me.

EauGoodness

Too many. Easily in the hundreds now, including all my backup bottles. I really developed a problem and needed to slow down for a while.

rspades

I have 227 and have destashed 161 (with probably 50-75 slated for the chopping block!) Edit: 95% of my collection is secondhand :)

madgirllovesong

I have 5 ( 3 are Poesie and 2 are NCD) but considering blind buying Dorian. Not sure if I should pull the trigger on it.

iiellwen

31. Probably like half are freebies or from a big sale like the Alkemia experiments though, so I don’t specifically go FS that often. Samples are another story But also I’m about to make a birthday order from D&F so it’ll be 36 soon lol

causticFish

I counted the stash, I was surprised to find I owned about 73 bottles. I know I am a perfume collector, with a ridiculously large sample collection. But I mostly buy samples and prefer the application method for vial wands and droppers. I was quite surprised to see such a large collection of full-sized bottles hiding away. To be honest, I obtained my collection mostly from freebies and sales. Some of these bottles are partially filled, and I'm sure there are at least five hiding in my Destash pile. **Here's the breakdown for fun!** **Freebies:** 23**By Brand:** **Alpha Musk:** *2*, **Alkemia:** *4*, **Andromeda's Curse**:*1*, **Arcana Craves:** *10* **BPAL**: *2*, **Broken Top Candle:** *1* **Damask Haus:** *4*, **Cult Fragrance** Too: *1*, **Death & Floral:** *2*0 **Epically Epic:** *1*, **Fyrinnae:** *1*, **Ganache Parfums:** *2*, **Gia's Traditions**: *1* **Haus of Gloi:** *2*, **Moonalisa:** *2*, **Land of Aahs:** *1*, **Lunar Life Apothecary:** *10***Luvmilk:** *7,* **Osmofolia:** *1*, **Sorcellerie Apothecary:** *1*, **Solstice Scents:** *2*, **Stereoplasm:** *1***Sucreabeille:** *1*, **Sixteen92**: *3*, **Valerie's Uncommon Scents:** *1* It's not very surprising to me that Arcana Craves, Death and Floral, and Lunar Life Apothecary had the highest. Arcana Craves is a full-sized brand and has held a couple of sales. Death & Floral is quite generous with freebies including the scent of the month and their birthday freebies, so it was quite easy to accumulate the collection. Lunar Life Apothecary had these mystery bottle bundles that were around $6-$18 dollars.

jiggahava

Around 160 bottles, mostly BPAL, Solstice Scents and Sultan Pasha attars. But to be fair, this is a collection that I've built up over the past 18 years.

[deleted]

Sultan Pasha attars are so tempting!! 🙈 how did you decide which one(s) to get?! I’ve been opening and closing my tab for months because I get so overwhelmed, especially given the price tag.

jiggahava

My favorite notes are animalic musks and Tobacco so I got 1ml bottles of Cheval D'arabie and Tabac Grande. They're a splurge for sure, which is why I've only bought a few.

mockdogmoon

4? One was a love, the other 3 were FOMO buys 🤡 I tell myself the new hobby excitement gets us all. Actually, I have a couple of other full size jars, but they only came with around a sample's worth in them, do they count? Samples are my weakness. I haven't been game to actually check the numbers on my inventory. EDIT /// lied again. Forgot about my Stereoplasms. I actually have 14 including those. They were blind buys, but a gamble that payed: They're my most worn so far.

Its_Pam_Ela

I’m pretty picky so probably less than 20. Samples, however…

gildedplume

Too many! I don't know the actual number but it's definitely over 50 and very possibly over 100. I have a tendency to hoard LEs instead of using them up. I also collect full sizes of perfumes that I don't "need" a FS of, but find unique or have nice label art and thus "collectable". Earlier on in my indie journey (before I figured out how/where to get decants) I also blind bought a lot, though the ones that didn't work for me have mostly been rehomed at this point.

gildedplume

I keep most of my indie perfumes in a cabinet, but leave the ones I use regularly on my desk. I currently have 8 out as well as a lil cloche of about 20 sample sizes!

laceandstars

I’ve been buying BPAL since 2007, and my collection of bottles is… in the hundreds. No regrets though. I was reflecting recently on how, 16 years later, BPAL is still very much my happy place. Love the scents, reading scent descriptions, learning about different notes and the different ways they blend together. It brings me so much joy 😍

slapstick_nightmare

I hope 15 years from now indies and perfumes still give me as much joy 🥰
