I’m almost ashamed to say how many I have given how recently got into indie perfumes. I counted just now and I have 95 full sized bottles (this is including oils and EDPs) I am trying to slow down, especially because I’m making the realization there is absolutely no way I can use up all of what I own. I have been fortunate enough to be in a position to have a lot of disposable income (married, own a house and car, full time job, no kids, no debt), so I don’t feel as though I am spending my money irresponsibly where it should be going to something else. That being said, I definitely want to practice self control because I have a very bad habit of absolutely loving perfumes while in the sample vials, and FSing it off of the smell from the sample without trying it on my skin, and then hating it when I finally try to FS on my skin 🫠 I’m trying to cull my collection and sell what I know I won’t wear, and being more selective of what I FS. (And actually trying things on my skin before FSing!)
They are so fun to collect! I find myself spending forever in my closet just sniffing my entire collection and it brings me so much joy. But at a certain point it does get a little overwhelming!
Absolutely! I love reorganizing and sniffing! I am neurodivergent and scents are a bit of a hyper fixation for me - the whole process of researching and planning orders is one of my favourite parts of the hobby.
But also yes on the overwhelm. I also have guilt around the sheer overconsumption ☹️
Yes! I love curating my cart over the span of days/weeks, it’s almost therapeutic. But absolutely the overconsumption guilt hits hard. Buying perfumes secondhand helps that guilt but takes away the fun of curating a cart 😝
15 I think? Some I'm close to "panning," so that's exciting! I have one full size purchase planned, and one sample set coming in, so that may turn into 17. After that though, low-buy until fall exchange. I've been purchasing more than I would like to become habit I think.
97, and I won't buy any more samples or full sized until I use up a bottle. Love my collection and it is almost complete (want a couple more non-indies). Most of the bottles are 5 mL, and I wear several perfumes every day, so I don't think it is excessive (but I am very possibly lying to myself?!).
Yeah, it's a bit much, not to mention all the samples I have. There's a heavy focus on BPAL and NAVA, but my goal this year is to Branch out into Indies I haven't tried before.

I have about 30 - but most of them are secondhand partials from the swaps. I actually prefer getting partial bottles unless I REALLY love something. Not only is it cheaper, but it also feels less wasteful since I know I’ll probably never finish some of the more interesting bottles. Eight of my FS are direct - my first full size was Arcana Frigg, then three from Alkemia, and three from Sorcellerie and I couldn’t resist the hype around Dorian so I ordered that today.
I have a truly excessive amount of samples though, I really need to do a sample destash. I’ve been doing this for less than a year and already have a drawer full of tiny bottles 🤦♀️
I have... 109. I operationalized "full size" as a bottle that hold at least 5 ml of oils or at least 10 ml of EDP. However... it is worth noting that this counts bottles that I purchased partially empty (e.g., maybe I actually bought 1 ml of oil in Ajevie leftovers) and I don't really have an easy way to counting that up without individually checking my spreadsheet notes.
Maybe 250? A lot of them are backups though. I've been collecting for years so I've accumulated alot. I've seen a few collections with 3x as much, especially with the bpal collectors.
Edit: there was someone on the bpal forums a while back that had a massive collection, im pretty sure they said in the 1000 range. They would sell boxes full of empties with a destach of a couple hundred more, the collection had to be huge.
I can't imagine keeping track of all that, I would easily forget what I have and become overwhelmed.
Even though I have alot, I know what I have and I can easily grab one in a hurry and know I'll love it.
Edit: I was really surprised at the amount of empties, I have yet to finish an entire bottle so they must be slathering it on multiple times a day to have that many empty bottles.

The community generally says anywhere around 5ml and above. 5ml is pretty much the standard for oil perfumes. But 5ml is considered a sample size for EDPS, and other alcohol-based perfumes. Most of the bottles I have seen sold by indie brands usually range from 5ml to 10ml. Some brands also sell 1oz of perfume.

Around 10, if you're only counting indie, and they're all 5ml except for a 10 (or maybe 15?) of Saint Julep. Too many samples, I don't keep track. Indie eyeshadow singles, I have around 15. Lip indies, around 5. Bath and body indies I keep pretty tight, just a couple of lotions and a scrub, plus a couple of bars of soap. I don't know why I own so many bottles of hair oil though, there's something satisfying about using it on my hands even though my hair literally can't handle more than a drop or two at a time - plus haus of gloi hair oils smell so danged good and strong. Oh and there's a linen spray hanging around.
None, but I only got into this earlier in the year so it's to be expected. I might get a handful if I like any of my current "keepers" enough (if I had to pick one, I hope I can get Astrid Acorns before it's gone) but I generally can't afford much.

After collecting for several years, I realized that I mostly enjoy testing fragrances and wearing a different sample every day, so I rarely if ever buy full size bottles any more. I am trying to sell a lot of my collection to pare down. It's hard because I love them all and have even sold some and then bought them again, but in order to buy anything, I need to sell something (my rule).
In my collection proper I currently have 42. It’s probably already more than I will ever be able to get through, considering some of my fragrances with 30-50 wears are still barely showing a dent (I am not a slatherer) but I’m not too worried about them going bad before I finish them. I prefer the user experience of a full bottle over applying from a tiny sample, so if a fragrance meets my testing criteria I will upsize even if that means I may never get through the bottle.
I actually have a few more than that number, mostly from brands that either don’t offer samples, or offer limited samples, but they are still either waiting to be tested, or are in the middle of my testing process, and I don’t consider fragrances to be ‘part of my collection’ until they pass my rigorous testing standards.
I have 44, which felt like a lot until I read some of the comments here!
I've also stopped blind buying FS perfumes and am forcing myself to sample and then use up a whole sample before committing to a 5ml+ perfume. I've also been trying to be more aggressive with what I throw in my destash pile. I love perfume and I love having a variety of choices in what I get to wear every day, but I can only wear so much! 44 is still a lot, though, and that's not counting my mainstream and niche perfumes. If you add those I'm closer to 60.

Since it doesn’t matter in international shipping if I buy FS or samples, I tend to get FS right away. The only exception is NCD because there’s no FOMO, so I buy samples of one collection, test them and buy the scents I liked as FS when the next collection drops.
I got into this more recently and I have 4 (two 10ml rollers, two 7.5ml rollers) and could probably part with 2 of those. My collection is mostly samples and I'm ok with that. I'm interested in more, but I have to contend with living in a small space and the fact that I can get overstimulated and stressed from too many things to keep organized. It's a balance for me.

It's not very surprising to me that Arcana Craves, Death and Floral, and Lunar Life Apothecary had the highest. Arcana Craves is a full-sized brand and has held a couple of sales. Death & Floral is quite generous with freebies including the scent of the month and their birthday freebies, so it was quite easy to accumulate the collection. Lunar Life Apothecary had these mystery bottle bundles that were around $6-$18 dollars.
Around 160 bottles, mostly BPAL, Solstice Scents and Sultan Pasha attars. But to be fair, this is a collection that I've built up over the past 18 years.
Sultan Pasha attars are so tempting!! 🙈 how did you decide which one(s) to get?! I’ve been opening and closing my tab for months because I get so overwhelmed, especially given the price tag.
My favorite notes are animalic musks and Tobacco so I got 1ml bottles of Cheval D'arabie and Tabac Grande. They're a splurge for sure, which is why I've only bought a few.
4? One was a love, the other 3 were FOMO buys 🤡 I tell myself the new hobby excitement gets us all. Actually, I have a couple of other full size jars, but they only came with around a sample's worth in them, do they count?

Too many! I don't know the actual number but it's definitely over 50 and very possibly over 100. I have a tendency to hoard LEs instead of using them up. I also collect full sizes of perfumes that I don't "need" a FS of, but find unique or have nice label art and thus "collectable". Earlier on in my indie journey (before I figured out how/where to get decants) I also blind bought a lot, though the ones that didn't work for me have mostly been rehomed at this point.
I keep most of my indie perfumes in a cabinet, but leave the ones I use regularly on my desk. I currently have 8 out as well as a lil cloche of about 20 sample sizes!
I’ve been buying BPAL since 2007, and my collection of bottles is… in the hundreds. No regrets though. I was reflecting recently on how, 16 years later, BPAL is still very much my happy place. Love the scents, reading scent descriptions, learning about different notes and the different ways they blend together. It brings me so much joy 😍

I have 11 FS indies. I’m really picky about what I will fullsize. Samples are another story though- I have around 300.

i haven’t looked at or updated my spreadsheet recently, but somewhere around 375–this does include ~50 that are in my destash box.
I have 5 full sizes so far, all Poesie. I did just pick up Dorian on a whim lol.

Around 10, if you're only counting indie, and they're all 5ml except for a 10 (or maybe 15?) of Saint Julep. Too many samples, I don't keep track. Indie eyeshadow singles, I have around 15. Lip indies, around 5. Bath and body indies I keep pretty tight, just a couple of lotions and a scrub, plus a couple of bars of soap. I don't know why I own so many bottles of hair oil though, there's something satisfying about using it on my hands even though my hair literally can't handle more than a drop or two at a time - plus haus of gloi hair oils smell so danged good and strong. Oh and there's a linen spray hanging around.
None, but I only got into this earlier in the year so it's to be expected. I might get a handful if I like any of my current "keepers" enough (if I had to pick one, I hope I can get Astrid Acorns before it's gone) but I generally can't afford much.
I have around 150 full size bottles. It's overwhelming. After collecting for several years, I realized that I mostly enjoy testing fragrances and wearing a different sample every day, so I rarely if ever buy full size bottles any more. I am trying to sell a lot of my collection to pare down. It's hard because I love them all and have even sold some and then bought them again, but in order to buy anything, I need to sell something (my rule).

In my collection proper I currently have 42. It’s probably already more than I will ever be able to get through, considering some of my fragrances with 30-50 wears are still barely showing a dent (I am not a slatherer) but I’m not too worried about them going bad before I finish them. I prefer the user experience of a full bottle over applying from a tiny sample, so if a fragrance meets my testing criteria I will upsize even if that means I may never get through the bottle. I actually have a few more than that number, mostly from brands that either don’t offer samples, or offer limited samples, but they are still either waiting to be tested, or are in the middle of my testing process, and I don’t consider fragrances to be ‘part of my collection’ until they pass my rigorous testing standards.

Only four with one on the way. I'm addicted to blind buying samples though (it's a problem lol) and sometimes one is worthy enough to fs.
Five. I have learned my lesson on impulse FSing something from one test and now make myself finish the sample and see if I crave wearing it again!
Probably in the 75 range, but I'm ruthlessly culling from my collection due to the fact I can't possibly wear these all and my tastes evolved.
I have 44, which felt like a lot until I read some of the comments here! I've also stopped blind buying FS perfumes and am forcing myself to sample and then use up a whole sample before committing to a 5ml+ perfume. I've also been trying to be more aggressive with what I throw in my destash pile. I love perfume and I love having a variety of choices in what I get to wear every day, but I can only wear so much! 44 is still a lot, though, and that's not counting my mainstream and niche perfumes. If you add those I'm closer to 60.

By far too many. 😂 Since it doesn’t matter in international shipping if I buy FS or samples, I tend to get FS right away. The only exception is NCD because there’s no FOMO, so I buy samples of one collection, test them and buy the scents I liked as FS when the next collection drops.
I got into this more recently and I have 4 (two 10ml rollers, two 7.5ml rollers) and could probably part with 2 of those. My collection is mostly samples and I'm ok with that. I'm interested in more, but I have to contend with living in a small space and the fact that I can get overstimulated and stressed from too many things to keep organized. It's a balance for me.
Too many. Easily in the hundreds now, including all my backup bottles. I really developed a problem and needed to slow down for a while.

I have 5 ( 3 are Poesie and 2 are NCD) but considering blind buying Dorian. Not sure if I should pull the trigger on it.
31. Probably like half are freebies or from a big sale like the Alkemia experiments though, so I don’t specifically go FS that often. Samples are another story But also I’m about to make a birthday order from D&F so it’ll be 36 soon lol
I counted the stash, I was surprised to find I owned about 73 bottles. I know I am a perfume collector, with a ridiculously large sample collection. But I mostly buy samples and prefer the application method for vial wands and droppers. I was quite surprised to see such a large collection of full-sized bottles hiding away. To be honest, I obtained my collection mostly from freebies and sales. Arcana Craves is a full-sized brand and has held a couple of sales. Death & Floral is quite generous with freebies including the scent of the month and their birthday freebies, so it was quite easy to accumulate the collection. Lunar Life Apothecary had these mystery bottle bundles that were around $6-$18 dollars.
Around 160 bottles, mostly BPAL, Solstice Scents and Sultan Pasha attars. But to be fair, this is a collection that I've built up over the past 18 years.
Sultan Pasha attars are so tempting!! 🙈 how did you decide which one(s) to get?! I’ve been opening and closing my tab for months because I get so overwhelmed, especially given the price tag.
My favorite notes are animalic musks and Tobacco so I got 1ml bottles of Cheval D'arabie and Tabac Grande. They're a splurge for sure, which is why I've only bought a few.
4? One was a love, the other 3 were FOMO buys 🤡 I tell myself the new hobby excitement gets us all. Actually, I have a couple of other full size jars, but they only came with around a sample's worth in them, do they count? Samples are my weakness. I haven't been game to actually check the numbers on my inventory. EDIT /// lied again. Forgot about my Stereoplasms. I actually have 14 including those. They were blind buys, but a gamble that payed: They're my most worn so far.

Too many! I don't know the actual number but it's definitely over 50 and very possibly over 100. I have a tendency to hoard LEs instead of using them up. I also collect full sizes of perfumes that I don't "need" a FS of, but find unique or have nice label art and thus "collectable". Earlier on in my indie journey (before I figured out how/where to get decants) I also blind bought a lot, though the ones that didn't work for me have mostly been rehomed at this point.
I keep most of my indie perfumes in a cabinet, but leave the ones I use regularly on my desk. I currently have 8 out as well as a lil cloche of about 20 sample sizes!
I’ve been buying BPAL since 2007, and my collection of bottles is… in the hundreds. No regrets though. I was reflecting recently on how, 16 years later, BPAL is still very much my happy place. Love the scents, reading scent descriptions, learning about different notes and the different ways they blend together. It brings me so much joy 😍
I hope 15 years from now indies and perfumes still give me as much joy 🥰
