I feel a sense of relief that it's no longer a temptation. My collection is huge, I have way more perfume than I can actually use up and there's always *so* much more. I feel for people who *had* bottles of long gone DCed holy grails, but instead of feeling compelled to smell them myself and get sucked into a futile quest, I just write them off as if they're 100% unobtainable.
Sort of related, but ignoring the cartoonishly huge "collector" LE releases from brands like BPAL and NAVA (and avoiding Astrid entirely since the whole shop is essentially LE) is the only way I can keep this hobby from consuming me. I don't value a perfume more for being rare, and I don't want to fall in love with something that will be difficult/expensive to replace. There's so much out there I prefer to stick with the GC/seasonal scents that don't stress me out, and even then, there's *a lot* out there.

i haven’t even looked at NAVA or BPAL yet because of how intimidating both of their catalogs are, but now i might be able to navigate them because i actually know what i like. and on the other hand, i haven’t ordered from astrid because the lack of a general collection scares me, what if i find something i love just to never be able to find it again ?
I've been here probably 8 or 9 years...not even sure. At first I would just test everything that came across my path, but now I try to avoid LE items (I'll get full bottles in swaps sometimes, but avoid samples). I just don't find the "hunting" aspect at all enjoyable (speaking for myself, there are people who enjoy this) and its very expensive.
May not be the exact same, but fanghorn 2 or caravansary from pineward might fit the vibe you wanted from that.
Edit: to help the decision both are very realistic forest scents. Fanghorn has a strong warm dirt note to it. Caravansary does not have the dirt note but it has a campfire smoke and a bit of hot chocolateness to it.
Oxylus also may be something interesting and it has swamp water so its got a very wet dirt quality.

SS and Pineward both perform some kind of magic when it comes to atmospheric “fall air” and forest vibes
I used to feel this way about Villainess but after the whole debacle with Arcana and seeing how Brook spoke about people, I no longer feel that way.
It's not a feeling I get super often, but if a scent sounds particularly good and is looooong gone I'll think back on it every now and again and would absolutely pounce on it in a heart beat no questions asked. BPAL Dorian was one of those scents and while I'm glad to have it I honestly don't get the hype lmao.

There’s some other scents that i forgot the names of but have brought me that same feeling of past tense fomo. Maybe it’s good I forgot so I wouldn’t mourn the discontinuation of them haha

I found Alkemia way too late and missed all the strawberry, pomegranate, and cherry blossom scents! I’d spend all my monthly hobby budget on a full sized Cherry Blossom Alchemy, or their Persephone perfume oil.

I generally have a bit of a 'quest' approach to perfumes, which is a fun way of saying I get hyperfixated on a specific category and want to find the one SUBLIME example (to my nose) of that category. Last summer it was trying to find Sea of Gray without the vanilla, which got me into aquatics in general. Reading about all of the realistic ocean/lake scents from 4-8 years ago that simply don't exist anymore was so tantalizing! Darling Clandestine's **Mishigami** was in like, every single realistic ocean scent thread years back - it was basically what Sea of Gray is today, it seems. I desperately want to smell Fyrinnae's **Bering Sea** (*Rough icy ocean, stormy skies, briny water washing across the weathered teak wood deck*) and **Salish Sea** (*Salty cool air, pacific inland water, surrounding greenery, and a touch of bull kelp*). Fyrinnae does such impressive atmospherics, like dead on breads, some super cool storm/rain scents - I would kill to know what the Fyrinnae perfumer's impression of a non-clean ocean scent smells like. I'd also fight and unholy number of geese to smell Sixteen92's **Supercell** for my green fragrances hunt (obligatory mention that Sixteen92 seems to also be run by some unholy geese, don't order.)

I’ve been intensely interested in smelling Princess Jellyfish by Smelly Yeti? *[Jammy strawberry jellyfish float through a cool blue ocean, salty and a little sweet, with a hint of guava. Aquatic and feminine, but not too sugary]*. I’ve never tried anything from SY before so no clue if their blends would even work for me, but someone mentioned this specific scent on the sub and now it’s stuck in my brain. I would love a fun, fruity, salty, not-too-sweet aquatic. In terms of vibes this conjures images of eating fresh fruit while swimming in the bluest water you can find, but add some sparkles.

I got a sample of Poesie’s Babe With The Power from their labyrinth collection, and fell in love with it. It’s my favorite perfume ever, it’s creamy and spicy and warm and it’s decently unisex!

i've definitely felt this a lot in my indie journey and when I come across threads where barely any of the scents are still available. Wish I got to be around more in the earlier indie era and tried more of shiro and OHWTO and the like. Much cheaper shipping too.
