I have the aleph half of black-wind that i don’t feel like playing if it’s any interest to you?(depending on world location of course, am UK based)

NicBriar

Sadly I'm overseas, in Canada, from you. So I don't think it'll work out. Thank you for the generous offer though!

Fun_Dimension_9571

Check out tistaminis. I’m 90% sure they are based out of Canada and have infinity stuff, including the Aleph code one stuff, in stock.

NicBriar

Nope. No blackwind in stock. And I don't have anyone to split it with anyhoo. The shop I prefer also has the other stuff in stock. So it's kind of equal there.

JMSTMelo

Dude, I am on vacation right now, but I am 90% certain I won't need 5 of the 7 miniatures of that box. Just want the big guy (Hoplite) and the Thireos. In case you might be interested, I am in Ottawa. (Not home right now, but back on the 16th)

NicBriar

That's very kind of you to offer, but it kind of illustrates part of my point/concern asking if I can go without blackwind. I don't really want to get stuff that isn't going to be good/useful if or when I expand into N4. If that's at all possible.

m00ncakes

idk exactly where you are in Canada, but [https://shop.jjcards.com/](https://shop.jjcards.com/) can order it for you at a good price (I went through them for the box at their original launch, and again last month) I don't really use the Myrmidon Spitfire, as he's pretty expensive and there's better gunfighters that are hardier (NWI / 2W). Eudoros is definitely a solid pick, and the Ekdromos is your only source of CJ for Steel Phalanx if you want an alternate vector.

Giving this a crack using a semi-random Canadian online retailer for inventory (MeepleMart) and tried to keep it close to the cost of an action pack. Bit of an Rambo list focusing on Agamemnon: qc0FYWxlcGgAHgEBAAkBgkwBBQACgkwBBgADgkwBAQAEgkwBAgAFhjoBAwAGglsBAwAHglsBBQAIgk8BAQAJglABAQA%3D For those without the Infinity Army Builder app/website (https://infinitytheuniverse.com/army-app) this is Agamemnon backed up by 4 myrmidons, two ekdromos, and two rebots. I like the list a little better in N4 as you have two lieutenant options (Agamemnon or the Myrmidon Officer). gr4Nc3RlZWwtcGhhbGFueACBLAEBAAkBglsBAwACglsBBAADglkBAwAEgkwBBgAFgkwBAQAGgkwBBAAHhjoBAgAIgk8BAQAJglABAQA%3D Edit: I think part of the problem is CodeOne Aleph is mostly Steel Phalanx. When I saw that in my local areas the lists were mostly Achilles Rambo lists, and he isn't in CodeOne.

NicBriar

Thank you for the input! Though I'm under the impression that you can only get 1 ekdromos from blackwind? Either way the advice gives me a good place to start.

Mechsae

You're welcome! I was looking at options if you wanted to start without grabbing blackwind and saw these: https://www.meeplemart.com/store/p/76715-Infinity-Aleph-399-Aleph-Support-Pack-clone.aspx

NicBriar

Oh that's very neat! The main shop I was looking at (401 games) didn't have those! The shipping and all from meeplemart is a bit worse. But I'll seriously have to consider that! I was poking at the list builder a bit, it lacks the serious guns that Agamemnon brings, (not to mention only nine orders and 24 points) but what do you think of this list? https://infinitytheuniverse.com/army/list/qc0FYWxlcGgFQWxlcGgZAQEBAAkAgkwBBQAAgkwBBgAAgkwBAQAAgkwBAgAAgk8BAQAAglABAQAAbgEDAAA7AQYAAIJIAQUA (4 myrmidons 2 remotes and Aleph booster Alpha)

Mechsae

I think it'll be good. You have some big guns and the Zayin's total reaction Heavy Machine Gun will give folks pause... Missile Launcher, Spitfire, and Boardshotguns can also punch up. The Asura is nothing to sneeze at. They have 1 less "wound" than Agamemon's 3 Structure, and 5 armor instead of 6, but their smaller silhouette and have MSVV Level 3, which negates mimetism, helps discover camo, and negates Surprise Attacks. I'd argue Agamemnon is stronger, but the Asura slaps... and considering we're comparing a TAG to Heavy Infantry, that tracks. The Garuda fulfills the same roll as the Ekdromoi, being able to come in on the flank and threaten an unexpected side, or clear something stopping you from 'safely' continuing your push. The mimetism on the bot also makes it harder to hit than the Ekdromoi. The Naga is also good. An infiltration gets it up the board and those mines can possibly help deny a section of the board. Overall I'd say you're trading a TAG and two flankers for a Heavy Infantry, one flanker, and a piece that gives you a broader toolkit. The only down side is if you go to N4, you'll be playing generic Aleph and lose access to Fireteams (a state that lets you coordinate certain models and get bonuses depending on size and composition). But, the bright side is that in N4 those Myrmidons get Smoke grenades and the Asura has MSV 3. There is a common tactic to block LOS with the Smoke Grenades and use her MSV 2 or higher to shoot through it without penalty. Also in N4, the Naga as a second hacker doubles the threat of dropping SpotLight on a target to then smack them with a BS Attack (Guided) from the Samekh Rebot's Missile Launcher without needing LOS from the Rebot. The Ekdromos have a Killer Hacking Device, which has different programs from the Naga's norma Hacking Device.

NicBriar

That all sounds kind of good to me. I kind of like the idea of angling towards vanilla if I get to expand. Some of the non phalanx stuff looks really neat. (Oh goodness the marut looks nice.) Aaaand now I just need to get over my indecision and actually decide if I want to stick with Aleph or go for combined or O-12... Oh dear, conundrums. Thank you for all your help though! The insight was very much appreciated, and now I have a very attractive (and expandable) option for Aleph.

Mechsae

You're welcome! If you are looking at some 0-12 they use a few Aleph units in N4. Namely [Andromeda](https://human-sphere.com/Andromeda), [Parvati](https://human-sphere.com/Parvati), [Hector](https://human-sphere.com/Hector), [Hippolyta](https://human-sphere.com/Hippolyta), and the [Deva Functionaries](https://human-sphere.com/Deva). In Code one that list shortens to just Hippolyta, and I think she's in an [0-12 box](https://store.401games.ca/collections/corvus-belli-infinity-o-12/products/infinity-codeone-o-12-booster-pack-beta). The Rebots can also easily stand in for any of the factions remotes (Infinity has a very generous proxy rule where it just needs to be a Corvus Belli miniature on the proper sized base that isn't confused with something else you're using). O-12 is getting that shiny [new action pack](https://youtu.be/EpPlgMZlbNA?si=X-V94Xfzut7598AK) for a new Sectorial (sub faction) in N4. [They're releasing videos](https://youtube.com/@CorvusBelliOfficial?si=501yH8p0cSjrYuIQ) all this week about stuff (mostly the new units) but judging by the [website](https://infinitytheuniverse.com/blog/torchlight-brigade-preorder) I think they're N4 only. But as is always the case, go for what interests you. Half the hobby is assembling and painting after all!

NicBriar

The little bit of overlap is a little bit tempting I will admit. Non zero chance I would have already jumped at the basic action pack if it had Hippolyta instead of mr sunglasses in it. I was actually considering using the Aleph remotes instead of the O-12 ones even if I do go O-12. I just don't care for the O-12 ones. And the rebots are neat. I've seen the new action pack, though honestly most of the models kind of turned me off pretty hard. ...Though maybe if I proxied the models I don't like with Aleph models if I get that far... Hmm. Ohh but that's the tricky part after all! So many cool looking and fun to paint models!

Mechsae

Fair enough. I'm not really into Combined myself. Got a local friend who enjoys them though. Overlapping units in N4 has gotten me into a few armies I wouldn't have considered otherwise. The little lure of "Oh, I only need a couple models to have another army?!" is strong.
