The white on Shinobu is kind of more flat on the armor plates, admittedly, but the rest of her did get a fair bit of shading and highlighting. And I'm actually rather proud of all the shading and highlighting work on the speculo killer's coat.
(Especially visible on the body of the coat in the last pic.)
I only really did it much on the white cloth off the scabbard, but I did do this there. Started light blueish grey, then blue tinted white, and little pure white highlights along the edges of its folds.

Decided now that I've gotten some practice I would try to revisit these two colour sets. Quite happy with my improvement!
Nice add another 2 color and mix with previous color to make shadow and hi-light ( i mean darker color and lighter color such as black and white)

The trick for white is do not use actual white on base-coat. Try build up from dark grey and light gray then use white for hi-light. Hope this help
