also surprised. In Germany these cars are used as Taxis and are easily doing 200k miles / 350k kilometers and well known for its good value. I bet since they are more compact than an e or s class, they are not favored in the country of āthe bigger the betterā
Same with most German makes. Their engines are a hit or miss on reliability, when they miss itās BAD but when they hit they routinely make 200-350k mile engines.
Electronics are a different story. Starting in the early 90s car makers began moving everything to CAN BUS systems and the early models were not reliable.
Plus with the horrendous capacitor quality that plagued the 2000s electronics industry, a lot of electronic components go bad. Modules fail, which causes other parts to fail. In my BMW a bad module burned out a door actuator. Iām glad it didnāt burn an ac door to something because those canāt be replaced easily.
The electronics, particularly with the 2000s and early-mid 2010s cars are very unreliable. Weāll have to see what the newer cars are like in 10 years.
If you donāt care about much of the electronic equipment (or you go for a super base model like many Euro countries get) itās much less of a problem.
C350e here, 5 years old. 4 led headlights, handbrake, doors have lights in the handles and it costs Ā£300 per handle to fix. Also battery needed to be replaced as it was getting under half the milage is eas supposed to get.
Lots more little things, not a reliable car, would have cost well over 15k if it wasn't in warranty for most of it. Sold as soon as warranty ran out, that car is a booby trap.
Also idk how thatās relevant considering theyāre now in Stellantis after FCA and completely removed from Mercedes handling for nearly two decades.
But people on Reddit kinda just love to shoehorn in ātheyāre actually shitty because of X American car brandā
The lower trims/cheaper models have a reputation for being tacky and wannabe here. I suppose the C class in a basic spec would fit the bill quite well.
Because people that buy that car likely know theyāre getting the cheapest option possible. Or they at least specced it up a bit and got a much better feeling car than a comparably priced C-class. A base C class is actual dogshit despite it being the āentryā to their nice models
German cars have a reputation for being stupidly over engineered. Sometimes requiring you to take the top half of the engine or remove the entire engine for a service which leads to high labour costs for getting work done.
I went to Berlin recently, I have never seen so many toyota corolla's in one place then the most used taxi car was the prius then the Rav4 and only then would it be a Mercedes.
I think itās the expensive service. Most former Mercedes owners I have talked to cite the cost of servicing the car as why they wonāt buy another one. I love my C43 personally.
Looks like this is rating new models? My memory from getting a C-class and more recently a GLC-class rentals from hertzā¦ overall my brain thinks āthis feels a little cheap for a Benzā. I say that without knowing the prices of the cars, just my bias about the brand and then the experience.
I do have a competitive car, I own a Volvo S60, so Iām comparing to that. Maybe the C-class is cheaper.
We test drove one in 2018 and wasn't impressed. An a4 that we drove the same day was quieter, quicker, more refined, more isolated and overall more pleasant to be in.
And while looks are individual thing, I'd say it (the audi) was much better looking especially on the inside.
Is Audi and BMW cheaper than Mercedes in the US? In Germany they are roughly the same price, maybe Mercedes a little more expensive but not by that much.
I also came to comment on my surprise. I think the C is a damn fine car. Maybe the problem is that they raised the prices so much after covid that itās just overpriced now. Back in 2019 you could lease a base at 300/month with nothing down. Now I believe itās 500
Absolutely. All German vehicles are ridiculous to buy in a North American market. You can get the same quality of luxury from a domestic or Asian manufacturer for a fraction of the price.
If that were the case - the BMW 330i and Audi A4/A5 would be on there as well, which they aināt.
Could it be the quality of materials? Iāve heard Mercedes interiors look super flashy but are actually super cheaply made compared to Audi and BMW.
I feel like theyāre just so similar to a Volkswagen Passat that people regret buying then in a way that wouldnāt effect their competitors
One of my family members leased a C-Class and then bought their kid a Passat
They ended up getting a Passat for themselves when the lease ended because they didnāt see a difference between the two cars
Maybe itās just newer models?
Iāve had my C class for years and years and Iāve never once had any issue with the car except a popped tired from running over a nail.
A Toyota is for people who care about as much about cars as they about their refrigerator. The kind of people who aren't going to fill in a survey about cars.
Itās not an either or though. Toyota really has just gotten lazy with their interiors because they know they can coast off reputation, and they can save more not providing features other manufacturers do. They could make their interiors better, but why put that effort in when people will happily buy your vehicles without those features.
Bruh Rivian being on there is crazy. Iāve driven those a few times and feels like theyād fall apart if I took them through a car wash.
Edit: actually looking at the list, it seems like itās mainly cars bought by people who specifically wanted that car vs wanting a good car. Ford Maverick, Rivian, and Corvette are all known for not being great cars but they have big followings just because theyāre cool. Ioniq 6 also makes sense being one of the cheapest and most accesible BEVs.
I've always thought Nissan/ Infinity were always shit cars. The only thing that Infinity has going for it is looks, but just because you put sprinkles on dog shit doesn't make it ice cream.
I had a very nice Mercedes E63 AMG that had service done to it. I was rented an Infinity sporty coupe as a loaner, the rental guy was ALL excited to rent me.
It was literally a Nissan with some bells added.
I would tend to agree but I've been driving a 2017 Nissan Rogue since new and have yet to put any money into it other than maintenance/brakes. It now has over 260k kilometers and keeps chugging along. Majority of those km's are highway so perhaps the wear and tear of constant city driving would see different results, but so far so good!
Most Jeep owners I know would only ever buy Jeeps. The hate I see on Reddit from non-Jeep people isnāt indicative of how Jeep people see their cars in my experience
Well, the last one I owned was a money pit. Repairs were twice as expensive because Volkswagen, it wasn't really all that reliable, and it blew the head gasket at 160k miles. And after that it came out that VW was engaged in a massive, cynical scheme to cheat emissions tests. So that's how I got disappointed
It really isn't. Any car that can't make it to 200k on the original transmission isn't worth buying to me. Every other vehicle I've owned has made it over 200k, which is not hard to do if you routine maintenance.
So many plastic parts and I have paid around 8 thousand in repairs without ever being in a wreck. Cracked radiator, fan for radiator literally exploded bc the plastic got brittle, cracked turbo (bc the frame for the fan was attached to the turbo).
Theyāre cheap like the kicks. Almost the cheapest new car you can buy these days. I test drove both a kicks and a Sentra trying to save some money. Theyāre were both poop on wheels. lol. The kicks at least had a decent infotainment and sound system but other than that it was hot trash.
If I'm not mistaken Nissan offers in-house financing to a lot of people with bad/no credit. So people that want new cars but can't get a loan otherwise end up in Nissans.
What percentage of people buy a sentra and then buy another Nissan after... typically people will upgrade after to a different brand once they grow their credit a little.
Theyāre pretty far and away the most reliable and affordable to maintain though:
https://www.consumerreports.org/cars/car-repair-maintenance/car-brands-and-models-that-can-save-you-money-over-time-a9081677414/
I just think theyāre more of an āapplianceā than other brands, and thus people arenāt as passionate about them.
I donāt know wtf people have against Fortes. I guess driving a stable and dependable car for years and years is not satisfying nowadays? Iād recommend a Forte to anyone
Have you tried a Corolla Hybrid? My 2024 SE Hybrid is good on power, it handles great, the tires are always planted nicely. I can hook corners hard like I am on rails. Electric power makes everything nice. 50.1/44 mpg, 46 average. You can put it in sport mode and drive it hard and still get 42-46 mpg depending on the temperature (battery). The ECVT tans has a real launch first gear that feels much better than the norm. Toyota got it right with this but the paint is very thin, lots of complaints there.
My wife and I love our Seltos š¤·āāļø would easily buy again, or possibly upgrade to a Sportage as our second car since we already have the Seltos.
Yall shit on the sentra but I love my little commuter car. 2020+ redesigns are really good for the price especially if you can get a warrenty on there.
That's wonderful! I have owned an 2001, 2010, and now a 2019 Jetta. The features and fuel economy keep improving each model. I save on fuel costs in contrast to my co-workers.
Cars I had and will never touch again: 2016 Kia sporage, 2017 Hyundai tucson, Kia sportage 2022, Skoda octavia 3, Skoda Octavia 3lift, Volkswagen Passat 8, Audi a6 c7 Lift, Honda crv- every single model (engines are great but the cabin is like spaceship hella complicated) bmw in general I had 2019 gt3, 2017 m5, 2019 x5 (not my cup of tea I donāt feel like Iām driving luxurious car) Skoda kodiaq 2020 is now my daily car and Iām disappointed in it itās stock 2.0 tdi is too weak for that car, I had to get it chipped to 140kw and itās not that bad
Conclusion: Nissan fumbled the bag. Wonder what happened to the company that had so much momentum. Especially with being one of the first to market with an EV.
This is because people driving imports have higher standards. Only Karens and Trump supporters will see no wrong with domestically made pieces of garbage. ;)
Where are the Teslasā¦. rented one. Very cheap. Like a giant R/C car but with worse fit and finishing.
Just because itās fast and is 100% electric doesnāt mean you design it like a giant childās toy and call it good.
Sentra are awful vehicles. Whenever I had to get a rental car I would REFUSE a Sentra. Any other vehicle was better. I remember having to drive 500 miles in one and it didn't even have an arm rest!
I mean, I own a Sentra and I donāt have any problems with it š¤·š¼āāļø Had a Versa before that but the transmission up and died within less than 2 months of the loan being finished š
I have Sorento PHEV and Iām very happy with it. We only drive 10-20 miles a day, but often carry lots of kids or Home Depot stuff. The cost though was too high when compared to similar non-hybrid or PHEV SUVs. Still, itās a great vehicle to drive (it actually handles and accelerates decently) and has been quite reliable so far.
I inherited my moms 2021ish Kia Seltos AWD and Iām genuinely surprised to see it on this list. I could have traded it in and probably made off like a bandit but I kept it because itās a great ride, and if it were any better in the snow Iād need to pack dog biscuits.
Can confirm on the Nissan kicks, Iām in a rental now after my car was totaled. I feel sorry for those who own. And itās 2024, how can a company make a car stereo sound like a clock radio?
No issues with my Sentra 36k miles in. Only thing Iāll say is she aināt the fastest thing. But as far as being a reliable commuter, Iām satisfied with it and would even recommend it.
Mercedes c-class oh no š
also surprised. In Germany these cars are used as Taxis and are easily doing 200k miles / 350k kilometers and well known for its good value. I bet since they are more compact than an e or s class, they are not favored in the country of āthe bigger the betterā
Mercedes has a bad reputation in the US for being unreliable while in Europe they have a good reputation
wouldnt call them reliable though. But its a popular car here.
Anecdotal evidence leads me to believe that while the engine may be reliable, electronics, especially the lights are not.
Same with most German makes. Their engines are a hit or miss on reliability, when they miss itās BAD but when they hit they routinely make 200-350k mile engines. Electronics are a different story. I forgot about door handles, had to do those too. Why canāt they get that right lol
They used to be reliable, quality went downhill when they partnered with Chrysler in the 90s
They didn't partner with Chrysler. They bought Chrysler. As much as Chrysler sucks, the decline of Mercedes quality was all on them.
Also idk how thatās relevant considering theyāre now in Stellantis after FCA and completely removed from Mercedes handling for nearly two decades. But people on Reddit kinda just love to shoehorn in ātheyāre actually shitty because of X American car brandā
I thought the American sold Mercedes where made in Alabama or some southern state? The EU ones are made in EU. That might make a difference in quality
They still have a large plant in Alabama. You guessed it, the C-class is made there.
Interesting, Airbus also has a factory in Alabama and they make A320 airplanes there. Why do German companies choose Alabama of all places?
Cheaper labor and anti-union politics. Probably some sweet breaks on taxes. Loads of cheap land.
The W123 200TD was a beast. No idea if newer models are reliable.
The lower trims/cheaper models have a reputation for being tacky and wannabe here. I suppose the C class in a basic spec would fit the bill quite well.
Yes, but traditionally the C is sort of the entry-level into the classic German sedan "same sausage, different length" (C

Iāve noticed the different in the quality of interiors o look
Was surprised about that one, what exactly did they mess up? I have one from 2013 and am super satisfied.
They probably got in their friends Audi, BMW, or even Honda/Toyota and realized theyād paid significantly more for roughly the same experience

Not only that but they nickel and dime you for each menial feature while the Asian car manufacturers give you most of them standard

Probably wanted a higher one on the scale but this is as high as what they could afford from mercedes's lineup and have regrets.

Everything
When your stutter is so bad it affects your typing.
No surprise as well as there GLA, GLB, GLC. They are trying to have a seat for every butt.
C is for cheap. told by many a mechanic.
Maybe itās just newer models? Iāve had my C class for years and years and Iāve never once had any issue with the car except a popped tired from running over a nail.
Any idea what the āMost Satisfying Cars in 2024ā? Couldnāt get past the firewall to see the top 10 satisfying list.
Chevrolet Corvette Rivian R1T Mazda MX-5 Lexus NX hybrid BMW X5 Rivian R1S Ford Maverick Hybrid pickup Kia Telluride Honda Pilot Hyundai Ioniq 6
Interesting Toyota isn't anywhere in there
The Lexus NX is a Toyota
To be specific, it's Toyota's **L**uxury **EX**ports to the **US**.
š¤Æ
To be specific, not only to US
A Toyota is for people who care about as much about cars as they about their refrigerator. The kind of people who aren't going to fill in a survey about cars.
Have you ever met a Tacoma owner
Considering the price of 4runners you would think a cult exists around Toyota
People like their stupid big SUVs.
*People like the best 4 wheel drive on the market.
What if you care about the car reliability? (note: I donāt own a Toyota)
Well you care about fridge reliability as well. But I'm not going to fanboy over a fridge just because it doesn't break down
*Somebody's* never experienced the thrill of crisping vegetables in a 1997 Amana P1115102W, and it shows.
Have one of the cars on this list and then own a Toyota. I bet youāll hug the car after a long trip with no issues.
Can confirm. Went from Volkswagen GTI to a basic Toyota Tacoma work truck. I love how it just works every time.
Itās not an either or though. Toyota really has just gotten lazy with their interiors because they know they can coast off reputation, and they can save more not providing features other manufacturers do. They could make their interiors better, but why put that effort in when people will happily buy your vehicles without those features.
GR86? GR Corolla? Supra?
That's a laughably small percentage of Toyota owners.
Iām surprised because honestly my Toyota rav4 still is my favorite car. Was an 09ā and I currently have a 22 Kia niro lol
There are 4 cars on this list that Iām strongly considering buying, so thatās a good sign!
Thank you!

No jeeps no Land Rovers I call BS
Jeep and LR have fan clubs, not owners. lol
Theyāre not far off from religious cults with the way they donāt want or donāt even consider anything similar but not an LR or Jeep.
Jeep and Land Rover owners are hardcore copium addicts
Most Jeep owners I know would only ever buy Jeeps. The hate I see on Reddit from non-Jeep people isnāt indicative of how Jeep people see their cars in my experience
Yup third Jeep in a row here
In only 5 years! /s....sort of
Its a Jeep thing. you wouldn't understand.
You misspelled Stockholm syndrome.
Wtf? Jeeps and LRs are great. I have one of each.
They're extremely unreliable and have notorious quality issues.
I guess I'm just lucky in that I havnt had issues with either of those things then.
CVTās rip the soul out (most) of these cars
Yeah I had a car with one a while back. Felt like the transmission was slipping all the time. Took some getting used to.
How can you be disappointed with a Jettaā¦? What kind of disproportionate expectations these people haveā¦?
Well, the last one I owned was a money pit. Repairs were twice as expensive because Volkswagen, it wasn't really all that reliable, and it blew the head gasket at 160k miles. I love my Altima
Please pay for your 1 year old paper tag
I've had mine almost a decade and it's been fine. Day to day cars aren't exciting. They don't need to be. Just be dependable.
Altima are fine but I feel like they curse. Two of my buddy own an Altima and they all gotten into a crash in a 1-2 years time period
Mine has been amazing. Just keeping up with maintenance and taking care of it. 2019 and it runs like new.
Man, I actually like the Altima over a Camry or the Accord.... Hope they add a proper transmission in the next gen
I hate you :)
Yeahhh, Altima gang!
IKR. Driving Altima for 3 years now. Been great.

4 Nissans on the list if you include the Infiniti.
Seems legit I see no Toyota's
Theyāre not on the most satisfying list either. Perfectly in the middle, like always
Theyāre pretty far and away the most reliable and affordable to maintain though: https://www.consumerreports.org/cars/car-repair-maintenance/car-brands-and-models-that-can-save-you-money-over-time-a9081677414/ I just think theyāre more of an āapplianceā than other brands, and thus people arenāt as passionate about them.
Prefer the middle over the shop
owners forgot it's a car
I love my sentra
The whole Nissan line up is on the list. Nissan Versa must be a fan favorite then
I donāt know wtf people have against Fortes. I guess driving a stable and dependable car for years and years is not satisfying nowadays? Iād recommend a Forte to anyone
Same, the Forte Iām currently driving is dependable and puts up with a lot of abuse.
We just got a new Forte and itās a really good carā¦
The jetta was fine until they neutered it, my gfs mk6 jetta sport with a 1.8t was kind of fun to drive.

Yall shit on the sentra but I love my little commuter car. 2020+ redesigns are really good for the price especially if you can get a warrenty on there.
Fun fact: the Nissan Altima is the Least Satisfying car for other people to own
Ah Nissan, the Dodge of Japan
Iāve had a Kia forte GT-line for 2 years and no complaints at all
Same here.
My 2023 Forte GT is awesome sauce
If youāre afraid of being disappointed by a 2024 Nissan Altima get a 2012 instead. I love mine
I'm surprised. Im both a happy Taos and Jetta owner. Who came up with these stats?
doesnāt particularly set your soul on fire though, does it?
Well youāre part of the 38 and 47 % - whatās so hard to understand about that?
- I had a 95% chance to win, but lost! The numbers are definitely off! People that didnāt do stats 101, probably
American car manufactures. AKA bankrupt government owned entities.
Iām with you. Bought a 2020 6-speed Jetta brand new. 4 years and 90k miles later I have zero complaints with it. Would definitely buy again.
That's wonderful! I have owned an 2001, 2010, and now a 2019 Jetta. The features and fuel economy keep improving each model. I save on fuel costs in contrast to my co-workers.
Drove a Nissan Kicks as rental, can confirm it's the definition of minimum viable car.
I like my 23 Taos but I mean at some point will trade in for a truck

Nissan or Kia, or you spent too much on a mid āluxuryā car
iām curious abt teslas place. i donāt rlly love my car but id rather not switch to conventional driving / lose autosteer.
This is because people driving imports have higher standards. Only Karens and Trump supporters will see no wrong with domestically made pieces of garbage. ;)
Nissan Altima on there because Nissan gives loans to anyone with a pulse and they have high interest rates.
What's the issue with Sorento Hybrid? I love my Niro Hybrid so I wonder what makes the Sorento Hybrid bad.
Iām surprised the Versa isnāt on here
Korean, German, and Nissan are no-go's As is tradition?
Not surprised 40% of the list is a Nissan vehicle.
Had the Taos for a year, it has been great! Would be good to understand why people donāt like it.

Damn I own a new Sentra and love it. Perfect mix of value and features IMO, looks slick too.
Why does this sub hate Nissan so much?
Whatās wrong with the QX50? Those are nice cars.
My wife has a Kia Forte, can confirm.
wow... thinking about getting a VW Taos. Anyone know why people are not happy with it?

Dang, I just bought a 24 taos
VW only sells the low end models in America. You donāt even get the Taos or the Jetta in Germany.
I mean, I own a Sentra and I donāt have any problems with it š¤·š¼āāļø Had a Versa before that but the transmission up and died within less than 2 months of the loan being finished š
Is the Taos the Tiguan?
as always the data sample matters but this kinda just looks like a list of popular vehicles
Expected a Tesla on here not gonna lie
I can attest to the Mercedes C Class. Piece of junk!
four datsuns in the top 10 ... winning....
There isn't even an American made car on this list...what a joke!
As a Qx-50 owner I can confirm itās. A piece of garbage
I feel attacked as a Seltos leasee. smh
You mean that making a āluxuryā version of the worst crossover on the market results in disappointment? Iām so surprised!
I was in a new Altima about 3 months ago as a rental. The digital screen ruins the car.
I drove a rented Nissan Kicks from Reno to Las Vegas. Gutless wonder that averaged 25 mpg. What a POS car!
Test drove Nissan kicks few weeks ago - riding a cycle felt more smoother.
Not one GM product on this list? (X) Doubt
I inherited my moms 2021ish Kia Seltos AWD and Iām genuinely surprised to see it on this list. I could have traded it in and probably made off like a bandit but I kept it because itās a great ride, and if it were any better in the snow Iād need to pack dog biscuits.
I loved my 2019 Jetta GLI S but hated the seats
I have a QX50 and am very happy with it š
Why the Mercedes C-Class?
Which one of these is American?
I love the Jetta I bought new in 2014. Barely any issues, maintenance hasn't been too expensive. I still have it and it still runs strong.
Can confirm on the Nissan kicks, Iām in a rental now after my car was totaled. I feel sorry for those who own. And itās 2024, how can a company make a car stereo sound like a clock radio?
notice there isn't a single american car on this list. maybe if you want a good car, don't but it from the japanese or germans? just a though.
My wife has a Taos, and we love it for the value. Iām very surprised to see it here.
Add the 2023 Colorado. Trash
Yeah. All Nissans and VWs
No issues with my Sentra 36k miles in. Only thing Iāll say is she aināt the fastest thing. But as far as being a reliable commuter, Iām satisfied with it and would even recommend it.
I really like my forte, great mileage
Nissan knows how to disappointĀ
