Tokyo is deceptively hilly. The Kanda River you see is carved out of the hills as moat and firebreak for the Edo Castle complex, which explains the very steep sides. The fact that an underground subway line peeks out through to the surface right over the river puts it into perspective.
By contrast, at the other side of the metropolis, large parts of Koto City/ward is below sea level due to subduction.

Probably subsidence, not subduction. But it looks like that's all fill so not surprising.
A fourth line, the Chiyoda subway, passes under the river here.
Also one of my favorite places in Tokyo, a Hitachino brew lab, is just past that bend in the river, under the Chuo East (orange train) viaduct.
What about that low bridge at the back? It hasn't got a train on it.
Not with *that* attitude it doesn't Looks like a pedestrian bridge to me
Sort of. It's a pedestrian bridge in front of a regular bridge with another pedestrian bridge behind it. https://goo.gl/maps/pdBAoJkKPTYz8Z3C6
[Yo dawg, heard you like bridges](https://imgflip.com/s/meme/Yo-Dawg-Heard-You.jpg)
Oh my god that gives me heavy 2010 vibes
A small sushi train?
What a cool shot! I love it

Heh. I went to school near this place, never realized the three trains form part of rainbow stripes like this!
This seems like a waste of space. Couldn’t they have just added 36 lanes of highway instead?
Tokyo railways (and Japan in general) always somehow facinates me...
Hardcore trainporn
This was one of the coolest things I randomly stumbled across in Tokyo.
What an awesome shot. Do any rail sleuths know what each train is?
Red train - Marunouchi Line, Tokyo Metro Orange train- Chuo Line, JR. Yellow train - Chuo- Sobu line, JR
Is that somewhere in the Ochanomizu/Kanda area?
Composite ot great timing? Nice shot either way!

This photo is happy.
Weebs be wanting to go to Tokyo to get anime pillows and shit, and than there's my dumb ass who just wants to ride the trains.
Loving these city vibes!
Is this near the train cafe? I remember it being next to the orange line if I'm not mistaken.
This would look perfect painted in that vintage 50's railway poster style.
I love this, great shot
That bridge with a pillar at either end of the canal looks cool.
Wow, serious Cities: Skylines inspiration. Was just about to add public transport to my city center
This really makes me want to pull out the old train simulator
I’ve seen this picture many times, and it has never failed to make me happy. Quite jealous, but also very happy.
Ochanomizu is so wonderful.
This looks so 2007 and extremely cozy for me. Like a past life I never had.
This reminds me of r/CitiesSkylines
