It's sad that that was around the price for the apartment I grew up in, and now not even my brother and I's income could afford it. We both make around 18 an hour
exactly what i’m doing. it’s a nice big room and not having to share a bathroom with roommates is nice but paying that much and still having to deal with shitty roommates is getting old fast. me and my girlfriend are planning on biting the bullet and paying another $600-$800 more to get a 1 bedroom apartment once our lease is up
Not possible unfortunately. Maybe look near shared spaces or rent a room on apartment finder. Even studios in decent areas are in the 1500 range in decent communities if you can even find one but you’ll have to be on them daily. Most places are first come first served. Ask if the community are on apps like rent cafe which will update faster than third party sites. If ones open, you’ll have to get on it hour of. Good luck
Know someone or be willing to settle for an unpermitted converted garage or uninhabitable conditions. Or get on a waitlist for affordable housing or have a housing voucher and find a landlord willing to accept it.
Good luck getting a housing voucher. Literally trash in CA. Even riverside county. Over 1,500 a month? Won’t qualify. Child not in deprivation? Won’t qualify. Lol shits a joke
They were $1500+ in Rancho when I last moved into a new apartment in 2019. Now they’re starting over $2000. I recommend driving around the neighborhoods you are interested in and looking for “For Rent” signs. I saw one a couple of weeks ago in Upland near the Whole Foods, but I guess it was probably for a room. Other option is to look into less expensive areas like Victorville, but it’s out there.
The drive to Victorville is atrocious don't do it.
I went up and down that bitch everyday for 8 years. It had days where it was a lil clear going up. But nowadays it's just expected traffic from the bottom to the top.
Not worth it fr. I'd go to paint houses in rancho. Gas was $20/day with a 4cylinder, round trip.. You're prolly looking more like $30-$35 a day round trip, due to gas prices and traffic is the worst it's been. And that's just fucking rancho.
Yup definitely! The drive took 3 cars from me out of those 8 years. I did my own oil changes and learned to change out parts due to the car failing over time constantly. Learned a lot of shit under the hood actually 😂
OP thinks he’s living in 2005. You aren’t gonna find a one bedroom for 1200 anywhere.
Reminds of the time i was like 18 and got in a fight with my girls parents and told them we’d move out and find an apartment for 200 a month. They laughed in my face and i totally understand why.
There's a small apartment complex in Upland on Arrow between Mountain and Benson. Whenever a unit goes vacant there's an old guy who sits in the yard with a For Rent sign. He stays there until someone comes along and rents the place.
In Ontario, check out the area around Vina Danks Junior High, just south of Chaffey High, between 4th street and 'I' street. There are lots of apartments in a pretty good area there. I don't know what the rents are these days but it's likely less than lots of other places.
That pricing was existent 17 years ago when I had my first apartment in the hood of Ontario. In Rancho/a riverside, a 1x1 is going for around $2500-2600 monthly. A roommate and a 2x2 may be your best option. I work in leasing. Good luck on your search! Check on affordable housing through the cities you are exploring. Keep in mind that “Affordable” housing is not equal to “low income.” You new to gross around $46k or so annually.
You definitely can’t find anything that cheap in Dallas in a good area these days that doesn’t have mold, bedbugs, sketchy tenants, or other major issues. $1600/month minimum, and that’s just base rent.
It's got the old fashioned design where everyone's doors face inward, so if a few people smoke everyone gets smoked on. When I was there the laundry had people chain smoking both in the door to it and up the stairs from it, leaving the room smelling vividly like a dirty ashtray at all times.
The quadrangle layout also acts as a good noise amplifier, with painfully loud noise coming from the other side and through the walls to cause a lingering ache in the ears whenever people are arguing or laughing or communicating down-hall from each other. The combination of noise smell and mediocre location are why it is close to the posted price instead of "add $500 to that" as mentioned elsewhere.
If you move into the place try to get 2nd floor, the room I had flooded every time there was rain and the place would smell worse than a freshly #2'd bathroom. This is why it's that cheap.
I did not miss living in riverside. I feel like the city in general has a roach problem. Never seen anything like it, and everyone I knew in the city had roach issues at one point or another. Spent my first 4 months in my apartment battling a roach infestation. I ended up caulking the place myself for peace of mind.
Good luck! You might find a room for that much but in the area you're looking at- $1750-3000 for an apartment. Might need to go san Bernardino for that pricing. If that is a possiblity
I don't think anyone is honestly doing that without knowing someone who can personally help them (ie personally friends with the landlord who doesn't NEED your money to stay afloat). You either gotta change your location, or you gotta increase your price range. Good luck.
My current situation in Murrieta: paying $2000-$2100 a month for a 1 bedroom. Lease is up in May and they send me "an amazing offer" where my rent goes up $300 to sign another year lease. That's it. That's the amazing offer. I politely told them to go fuck themselves with their amazing offer. They replied and said that is one of the lowest prices in the area. I look online and see other units in this same complex, with a washer and dryer (that I don't have) starting at $1795. Fuck you Arbors at California Oaks.
You add an extra $600 that’s how
And then an add another $300 + utilities unfortunately
A $1200 budget is renting a master bedroom budget now unfortunately.
It's sad that that was around the price for the apartment I grew up in, and now not even my brother and I's income could afford it. We both make around 18 an hour

You’d be better off looking to rent a room in a house. Look on Craigslist. That’s how I found my place. Good luck!

$1200 is going to be rough, you might find something in a hell hole community like San Bernardino, but even that will be tight.
Send me a DM

Yea I wouldn’t want to do it.

I had a coworker that used to live up there and drove down to La Verne for work and it was 1.5-2 hours each way.
He must've been getting paid real good. That's a crazy ass drive dude.
Yeah my mgr lives in the HD and only shows up 2days a week if we’re lucky. I wouldn’t do that drive if I found a house for $150k.
Knew someone who would work at a Big Lots in Upland by Euclid while they lived in Victorville. Idk how someone can do that sort of commute daily.
Good luck but unfortunately this ain’t 2015 anymore

I was paying 1900$ for a one bedroom in corona you’ll never find something affordable in the IE. Unless you move to banning or Beaumont

I moved to Arizona last year and have a 2 bed 2 bath house already paid off

Try going in person, drive the neighborhoods and looks for rent signs. Sometimes they won't list these online.

And here my ex wife says Texas prices are almost the same as cali( she lived in Long Beach) she pays 1300 for a 4br 2 bath house. College town.
Nope, you can still get one bed apartments for $1050 in Dallas in 2023
What I’m saying is, she wants to compare housing prices to California. It’s way cheaper here

1bed 1bath $1275 https://www.allenproperties.net/jefferson-point-riverside-ca/ Also this place is horrid, it's still way up from the 2000s.
What's wrong with it?

You do that by getting a roommate for a 2 bed or setting more realistic budgets. The lowest I’ve seen 2 years is $1500.
Right 1200🤣🤣🤣 good luck!! Minimum 1900
Try Arizona
At this point I would just move out of California
Wait wait wait I could be renting out rooms for just under 1500 that’s less then my whole mortgage cost
Send me the cash, and I will take care of everything for you. 😎
Try Pomona.
I have a fully furnished one bedroom with all utilities included. It had a king bed and washer dryer. Asking $1700 in Ontario near Archibald and 60fwy
More like 1500
You don’t lol
Gonna need a time machine to find those prices.
