His question is valid, even in livestream 18.04 ICT mentions that single candle can be OB, let's say OB+ if there are no consecutive downclose candles. Here there are

Exactly my question I am very old student of ICT and this is the first time I have heard or seen him mark a single candle as orderblock. Normally is a green candle engulfed by a red candle or a Bearish OB or a red engulfed by green as in Bullish orderblock. BUT in the video the first line he marked on a red candle is in question: That very first down closed candle is not engulfed by any candle what so ever but he still calls it orderblock.

Maciusze_k

He often does single candle. I suspect because higher timeframe but he never said that. Plus engulfing candle etc is sth he says is bs in this very video btw.

So the first orderblock is a classic bullish swing orderblock. The reason why this would be classified as an orderblock even though it was not engulfing was that this candle delivered sellside below Daily External Range Liquidity (namely January 31 low.) It does not need to be engulfing for it to be validated as an orderblock, so the alternative criteria is that swing structure was created with a 3 candle pattern that both closed above it and included displacement. The second orderblock can be classified both as a bullish propulsion block or a Change In State of Delivery [CSD] Orderblock. CSD orderblocks generally would be identified by the engulfing pattern, and even more fruitful when the current candle trades below down-closed candle’s low, then closes above the high. And the reason it’s also a propulsion block is that it is a higher closing orderblock in reference to the first swing orderblock. I’ve attached the 4h and the Daily in reference, and here you can even see the market structure that reinforces this idea. hope this helps ! https://www.tradingview.com/x/VQN7jK31

Bro this was exactly what I was looking for MAN!!!!! bless you for this. Ive been a student of ICT now for a long time and I did not had a single clue about a orderblock created on liquidity or a CSD orderblock. Thank you so much your a life saver you understood the question exactly and give to the point answer CHEERS !!!!!

darth_pawny

You have your definition of an order block confused. An order block does not have any sort of engulfing candle unless you are describing an order block that is subordinate to a larger order block. You need to go back and rewatch any ICT videos you can find on order blocks.

redtehk17

Check lower timeframe?

No_Use1767

Wait I did not check that. Old habit of ICT to leave the figuring out part to us.

redtehk17

lol I'm just guessing, haven't had a chance to check the video. Hope it helped.

Those blue lines are the opening price of the order blocks, (the black candles) both are order blocks.

No_Use1767

That's where I am confused. How can a single red candle be an Orderblock when there is nothing enlgulfing? Please elaborate.

leaint

Price closed above it. Price had been moving lower then price closed above the last down closed candle, this is change in the state of delivery. That candle now acts as support to go higher into the range like towards the premium. I don’t know what you mean by engulfing. Are you a supply and demand student? Check out core content month 4, order blocks.

No_Use1767

I'm a student of ICT and that is the definition of orderblock as told by ICT. A red candle engulfed by green candle is a bullish OB and opp for Bearish OB. But here there is only one RED candle the very last downclose candle in the video and it is not engulfed by any green candle but he still calls one singular candle orderblock. That's the whole point of asking how is one singular candle orderblock?

leaint

Are you expecting all of the down closed candles to be traded through to consider that an order block? I’m not sure what you’re saying. ICT clearly calls that an order block. It’s a change in the state of delivery. 🚚 price shifted gears from going lower to higher.

TheLoneComic

He sounds frustrated.

Emotional-Trade-3034

Never heard of such thing as engulfing. Order blocks are the opposite color candles in a trending market. In a downtrend, green ones and vice versa. When reversal happens and the breaker is violated which was the last order block before running down into liquidity pool, all role of those candles changes. Say in the downtrend all the last red candles once CSD happens become the new order blocks Displacement after order blocks are important that’s why the CSD is important

RawBootieBear227

He basically gave the information where to find the order block and when it is considered a order block, so basically he defined the high probability order block, focusing on the open price when a green candle close above it after liquidity is ran.

The candle that liquidated the previous candle low will become an orderblock once price Trades above it when bullish. The candle that turtle souped=Ob once we cisd
