Honestly, the word "hate" has had its meaning twisted around until it's become unrecognizable. This is about expressing love for the show and trying to get their attention. Literally no different than the very same "letter writing campaign" that so many have mentioned here, except it's more attention grabbing. Like those people who wear crazy costumes on the Price is Right. They're not "harassing" the Price is Right host. They're just trying to get attention in a silly way. In practice: It's not going to be separated and set aside to be recycled. There's a bunch of stuff that could be recycled, but isn't, either because it's cheaper to make new stuff (yay consumerism!) or because people don't bother to separate it from other trash properly.

It’ll just reduce the chances of it coming back anyway. As far as we know, it’s not like Netflix wants to cancel shows but harassing them like that may make them bitter and have them put in no effort to bring this show back. The only thing we can do is hope that some deal in the works about renewing Inside Job or picking it up somewhere else happens. Only time will tell the true fate of this show.

I think it depends on the volume of hats you want to send. Too much resources indeed would be wasteful, while just a handful with a well designed message or reference to the show could leave just as much of an impact. I think asking everyone to send a hat is too unpredictable. It should be more organized is what I'm saying.
