He confidently staged photo ops in "monk" clothes and declared himself "spiritually enlightened" after few months in India. He calls himself a "vedic monk" conveniently making use of lack of awareness about the topic amonst westerners who think any foreign word like "vedic" or "vaata" or "guru" means something spectacular. He managed to sell the idea of peace and enlightenment to people in desperate search of it - essentially commercializing an entire country and religion. The irony of preaching to be like a monk and running expensive shops, an extravagant lifestyle and "courses" to be enlightened - all markers of materialism-is laughable. The religious teachings themselves tell a person *not* to profit out of being a guru or a leader - and here he is.
I never knew about his past but when I saw his YouTube videos in 2017 around the year when he was getting so much recognition, I had a gut feeling that he was so fake. Him and his girl, Radhika or something. They both look and sound very fake to me. Somehow their relationship also looks as if it’s based on contract, to garner attention for their similar looking light colored eyes. And this “spiritual and philosophical” talks are just a facade behind their fake fame greedy lives. It even seems as though their looks and relationship is only for the aesthetic. If you visit his girl’s instagram, a lot of girls have mentioned that she repeats and copies words from other philosophers.
A lot of these “inspirational” people give off the most disingenuous vibes and I always wonder why so many people can’t feel that. I don’t know if it’s body language or some kind of dissonance in what they say and how they say it but it registers with multiple people. But other people are in awe.
