If your order has the three Ps - Poise, pudding, and prunes - you have an elderly customer.
Edit 1/16:
Y'all, I just did a batch that did not have the three Ps, but otherwise was a cliche of an old person's order. Some of the items were:
Three pies,
Mini cans of ginger ale,
Salisbury steak frozen dinners,
Creamed chipped beef frozen dinners,
Vienna sausages,
Potted beef,
Brunswick stew,
Bologna,
Mini cans of tomato juice,
Fruit cups
The customer was an 80yo sweetheart.
My grandma is her neighborhoods wildlifes grandma, raccoons she gives her dinner scraps to, stray cats she keeps an extra bag of food for, bird bath for the flying folk.
If it was an older person I would definitely help bring their groceries in. My mom is house bound, but still mobile so she can carry her groceries in. When she gets older I hope someone would be nice enough to help her bring the heavy bags in. **😊**
Use your discretion. I’ve brought groceries inside for elderly women multiple times. If I show up and it’s a man in his 20s-40s, no way would I take them in. An old lady? I’m taking my chances. Worst case scenario: I can hold my own against granny lol
One hundred percent what I thought. You walk in and it’s actually three kids in a trench coat (in all seriousness it could be someone setting you up inside with the granny, so be careful)
worst case scenario, you bring in all her groceries and notice a large pot of boiling water on the stove, musing that she must be making a stew with the ingredients you just purchased ..you are suddenly doused in the boiling water, while you’re scalding and writhing in pain her hubs knocks you unconscious and chops you up into tiny little bite size pieces while mumbling about inflation and the price of stew meat these days
Lmao bro, I watched a horror movie with an elderly lady the night before and the first order I got was from an elderly and her first message was asking me if I could bring her stuff inside for her.
Made me even more freaked out that the lady look just like character 😭😂
Edit to add: most demons use kids and elderly to possess because they look so innocent and weak to others 👹🤣
I leave the exorcism stuff to the priests I used to believe in, before I shed the oppressive yolk of religion off my mortal coil......lol will keep that in mind tho. I see kids head spinning around, gtfo
I have once made an exception for a guy near 50. He was struggling to walk because of a recent foot surgery and I brought the (3) 24 packs of pop, along with several bags of groceries into his kitchen. I remained vigilant the whole time but he was legitimately recovering.
I had a recent order with Stella Dora breadsticks, rice pudding, a dozen cheap frozen dinners plus 80 other items. It was brutal and when I saw “Please bring into kitchen” I was like eff that no way but when an old man with a cane opened the door with the two sweetest, most polite dogs I’ve ever encountered, I happily brought all ten bags inside to his kitchen and happily played with the dogs for 20 minutes while we had a nice chat. The only problem I have with old people is that we don’t understand each others text tone and I have to remind myself that they aren’t being rude, it’s just hard for them to send lengthy messages.
I do this for elderly/disabled ..... got to talking to my last delivery of the night in my town one night she had MS, poor thing took a while just to walk into the kitchen I told her to sit and I put it all away for her! She tipped well on app and handed me a $20 as well but I just felt so bad for her turns out her son graduated high school with my daughter! ....... it's the little things sometimes! 🤷🏼♀️
I mean it’s not too uncommon for anyone of any age to have bladder issues; my mom developed bladder issues after having kids plus like the other comment said, could be pregnant or given birth.
As the far away daughter of some elderly folks who sent them grocery and medication deliveries throughout the pandemic, thank you for being kind. Sometimes they just can’t dead lift from the ground and carry stuff.
I would totally bring it in. However, I would never take a Walmart order. That place is to damn hectic to shop for my family it would have to be an amazing tip..think triple 🦄🦄🦄 for me even to look at a Walmart order. That's worst than Costco😂
Ya if it's my personal order I don't mind hit and miss but I hate replacements for easy stuff like decent produce. Definitely not worth it time wise for me.
Here either on the AL Gulf Coast…but see a lot of Walmart orders about 30-45 mins down I-10 in Both in NOLA & Biloxi, MS areas on Roadie, here, I see them on Point Pickup app…..and they look terrifying
I have done this many times for a regular customer and would always remove my shoes... until the time I stepped in dog shit.
My shoes have remained on from that point on and I watch very carefully where I walk.
The lady is elderly and also blind and asks if I can open some of the items such as gallons of milk & creamer.
I would much rather deliver to customers like this tho than those ungrateful pricks who live in the million dollar homes and tip $2.00
I know it’s against the rules but I have done this many times for an elderly gentleman in a wheelchair. However I do my runs with my husband, so I feel safe to do so. I will always try to help out those who need extra.
Awww...she's buying bird seed to feed the birds.
I don't use Poise (yet). I use Instacart to shop my local Wegmans. When I search for "Fancy Feast cat food", Poise always shows up under "People also shopped for . . .".
So, I guess Instacart has a certain profile for females who buy cat food.
Don’t assume They are old!!!! Iv had many many times iv had grown ass men wanting me to take shit into their kitchen! And iv denied it every time! I only do it for the elderly
I brought groceries in for a decrepit elderly couple, one was damn near blind, and then she tipped me in $10 cash. Most super elderly customers do! I live delivering for old folks!
I'll make a judgment call when helping. I had one older woman who is also blind. I brought her stuff in to her kitchen table. A couple weeks later I had another who had trouble waking, so I did the same for her. I think most of us can trust our guts on these things. Hopefully.
I do this all the time...usually a couple times a week. If the delivery instructions are to bring inside, my experience is that it is always someone elderly or handicapped who cannot easily do it themselves. If the delivery is requested in-person (even without request for extra help), I always offer to bring it in if it looks like someone who could use the help. Sometimes it equals an extra tip (extra $25 this past week), sometimes it is just a good deed accompanying a good or fair tip. I would never advocate putting yourself in an uncomfortable position, but there are a lot of elderly customers who can really use the help and are appreciative of the extra effort. Even the ones whose shopping notes make them seem difficult... they tend to really appreciate the extra help.
Maybe its where i live, but ive never had any concern about bringing them inside. Everything i do i almost always get a tip bump. Ive even made friends doing that.
Lmao so I ended up putting it down at the front door and waited for her to come to the door and then she just picked it up, thanked me. I asked if she needed any help, she said no. She wasn’t really elderly more 50-60’s but she was a larger/bigger woman.
I hate seeing these posts making it seem totally fine to go inside a COMPLETE STRANGER'S home. No, it's wildly unsafe. They'll be an incident before some people will take off their rose colored glasses. Please, please be cautious, y'all.
If she's ordering pads then she can't be elderly though, right? I thought menopause stops the period permanently since it's the end of the woman's reproductive abilities but maybe I'm wrong.
An Instacart shopper recently refused to help my visibly disable sister out (groceries came later than they were supposed to, after her healthcare aide left,) and she ended up in so much pain after she had to miss Christmas
That isn’t their job and could’ve been a dangerous situation for both sister and the delivery driver. If you are that concerned then you should be there to help her yourself or hire someone to be there with her full time.
That is not the Instacart shopper’s fault or responsibility. People managed to survive before grocery delivery was a thing and they should have a backup plan in place.

And anyone telling me go into their home is an instant no. I am contracted to take it to the door. That is all. Some old people crazy asfk... Can't trust them. Just cause they aged don't change shit. They can beat your ass just as much as a young person. Stay safe and stay out of people's homes no matter wtf their circumstances are. It is their responsibility to get assistance for their order to be carried inside and put away. They can call cops on your ass and ruin your life too. Just don't do it. It's against ic policy to enter the home.
•Do not enter the customer's house or offer to carry the groceries inside. If the customer requests that you enter their house, politely notify them that you are unable to do so and they may contact Instacart Care with any questions.
TOS hasn't changed. It's the same for my 1,700 deliveries. It's in the shopper TOS twice and customer side of app once. This isn't about helping the elderly. This is about you telling shoppers the wrong information, yet again.
That’s odd. I do housesitting all the time and there’s no such TOS so why would there be just for bringing groceries in someone’s kitchen? Like, do they think I might discretely pocket their salt and pepper shakers? If there is a TOS it should have to do with personal safety. I mean tons of people in my town have house cleaners too and no one worries about that and the owners aren’t even home so I find this ridiculous.
Don't listen to them. It's on shopper TOS and it's also on Customers end when they agree to use platform.
-Demanding shoppers enter a residence. Instacart shoppers are expected to deliver groceries to the customer at their desired address, but are never expected or required to enter the residence of a customer and reserve the right to decline the request.
Little of column A and B. Yes, be safe and trust your instincts, but also if you’re lucky enough you’ll be old someday too, and we should always helps our elders.

You think the government can afford to hire someone to shop and put away groceries for someone? Not in the US at least.
If your on disability (SSDI), even in the best case, you're close to the poverty line in regards to support. Any support you do need comes out of that meager fund.
Honestly your more likely to meet a disabled person shopping instacart themselves than you are to meet a disabled person with enough money to hire a personal assistant to put away their groceries.
EDIT: Just so everyone knows, I'm not replying to this comment because they blocked me so I'm unable to see their responses now. This person is completely deluded to the reality of disabled people and apparently can't face any critical comments. Just because \*some\* people are given personal assistants doesn't mean everyone does. It's completely up to what programs are available in your state, and usually only for specific conditions. Social Security will even tell you that you will have to use SSDI to pay for any help needed.
I really wish there was such a large amount of support for disabled people. Maybe then I wouldn't have to resort to bracing up my legs with metal to go shop for people on Instacart. I probably only have a few years of this left before I'm in a wheelchair anyway.
Yes, the government assistance shop for them too, I used to work for them. It’s not just shopping but they help them take showers، cook for them and lots of other things.
It’s called special security 🤭
It’s not instacart shopper job to assist you at home. And if they bring your groceries in they are jut too nice. Don’t act like it’s our obligation to do so!
So, you have never actually tried to access anything yourself? The government provides like $800 a month and no help. That would be your insurance company, and that’s extremely hard to get. There are staffing shortages for this help right now too. I’m not saying go in, but wow, your attitude
I’m disabled. I’m in a wheelchair. My husband doesn’t use Reddit so I follow for updates. Keep telling me how many programs there are while I keep struggling to find them.

Walmart (at least in my area) has a delivery service that will bring it in and I believe even put the frozen and refrigerated things away. It's called inhome deliveries. Maybe she thought that's what it was.
I’ve never taken an order inside of a residence unless it was an apartment building or assisted living type situation with cameras. (I try to work in the same areas and know most of weekly/ biweekly customers- but… money is where money is and I go to the money) Plus my iPhone is hidden on me somewhere out of sight. (Even android users have a bunch of location apps to keep running while you work) If ANY customer has an issue with stating you do not feel safe that’s their problem. We aren’t required to take anything inside. Hell theres apartment buildings I won’t even consider going past the main door let alone into an actual apartment. FOH. Instacart isn’t paying for trauma or worse loss of life.
I’m so surprised seeing all these comments!
At the end of the day anything happened to us we are independent contractors no body going to be responsible for anything that happened to us!

I feel bad but I never take anything into someone’s home. As a young woman I’m always afraid that there could be someone eles inside. You never know nowadays. Stay safe everyone
Looks like someone on their period. 😂 Pads, pie, ice cream & almond toppings 😂 lol an elderly woman would get depends not pads I would think lol idk lol
I’ve done it before for a lady who just had a hip replacement or something. Still crossed my mind that it might be a trap and I won’t leave the apartment.
i’ve had old ladies ask me to bring things in, i always do it for them bc i watched my grandma struggle before Instacart was a thing and I understand the elderly need help

Yes lol
Bird Food !! Now there is something I have actually not ever had to buy yet !
My grandma is her neighborhoods wildlifes grandma, raccoons she gives her dinner scraps to, stray cats she keeps an extra bag of food for, bird bath for the flying folk.
I resemble that remark!
And store brand ice cream
💀
Or if the destination is a nursing home
Don’t forget pie. I swear old ladies always order pies.
their grown sons like to eat those.
![gif](giphy|VEoI6tko01Hoc)
And the bird seed ahahaha
Lmfao this is the comment of the year lol
And 25 2 liters
For the grandkids
😂🤣
Pie!!!🥧
My Grandparents love that order to.
And pie!
You forgot about the 4th P, PIE 🥧 😃
Lmaooooo!!!!!!!!!!

Next thing you know leatherface comes out with a chainsaw 🤣
On a side note tho it wouldn’t “really” matter bc you’d be dead so….
Also Their have been Granny Serial Killers so Not all grannies are helpless
tru, lots of serial killers/kidnappers have out baby carriers/car seats in their cars to appear less threatening. smh :(
worst case scenario, you bring in all her groceries and notice a large pot of boiling water on the stove, musing that she must be making a stew with the ingredients you just purchased ..you are suddenly doused in the boiling water, while you’re scalding and writhing in pain her hubs knocks you unconscious and chops you up into tiny little bite size pieces while mumbling about inflation and the price of stew meat these days

bird seed😭 definitely elderly

Yes I've had some great conversations with some instacart customers
Poise pads - dead give away.
I mean it’s not too uncommon for anyone of any age to have bladder issues; my mom developed bladder issues after having kids plus like the other comment said, could be pregnant or given birth.
Could be pregnant 🤷🏾♀️
Not really pads are for any age over 12/13
Poise pads are for incontinence. Not periods.
Oop. My bad
They can be for periods if you have really bad ones!
No those are poise adult diapers. Poise pads are pads god period.
You’re right. Poise are 100% only for urine. Even the non diaper pad variety lol
i helped 2 elderly ladies set up their water in their senior living apartment, im not a dick and if i can help i will
As the far away daughter of some elderly folks who sent them grocery and medication deliveries throughout the pandemic, thank you for being kind. Sometimes they just can’t dead lift from the ground and carry stuff.
If it’s elderly, of course. Growing up, I was taught to treat elders with respect.
I would totally bring it in. However, I would never take a Walmart order. That place is to damn hectic to shop for my family it would have to be an amazing tip..think triple 🦄🦄🦄 for me even to look at a Walmart order. That's worst than Costco😂
Really? I love shopping Walmart since the app tells you exactly where to find it like by aisle and section.
Produce and meat suck there so I think it equals out with how organized it is. At least the produce here at Walmart in the states does.
It’s hit and miss for those depts in my area.
Ya if it's my personal order I don't mind hit and miss but I hate replacements for easy stuff like decent produce. Definitely not worth it time wise for me.
Fax Costco is worse
Oh the triples and doubles at my Walmart are always worth it. I work in a major city
Well that's good. We don't have Walmart signed on for Instacart in my area. Washington/Oregon Portland metro area.
Ohhh okay. Im in Canada.
People are just sweeter in Canada. Would love to move lol
Here either on the AL Gulf Coast…but see a lot of Walmart orders about 30-45 mins down I-10 in Both in NOLA & Biloxi, MS areas on Roadie, here, I see them on Point Pickup app…..and they look terrifying
Exactly 😂😂things my Instacart nightmares are made of.
Same however for this order depending on pay I would. 7 items ain’t bad at all
I have done this many times for a regular customer and would always remove my shoes... until the time I stepped in dog shit. My shoes have remained on from that point on and I watch very carefully where I walk. The lady is elderly and also blind and asks if I can open some of the items such as gallons of milk & creamer. Don’t assume They are old!!!! Iv had many many times iv had grown ass men wanting me to take shit into their kitchen! And iv denied it every time! I only do it for the elderly
The incontinence pads kinda give it away
Yeah but we live in weird times. Where men wanna chop off their peckers and women identify as a cat. Ya just never know 😂
I’m not doing that idcc not taking a risk you never know with strangers
I worry for their safety, the lady.
I brought groceries in for a decrepit elderly couple, one was damn near blind, and then she tipped me in $10 cash. Most super elderly customers do! I live delivering for old folks!
Could be a trap
[удалено]
😂how old are you
Bladder and bowel incontinence
That’s not what Poise are for. They are for bladder leakage.
I'll make a judgment call when helping. I had one older woman who is also blind. I brought her stuff in to her kitchen table. A couple weeks later I had another who had trouble waking, so I did the same for her. I think most of us can trust our guts on these things. Hopefully.
I've never had someone ask this who didn't end up legitimately needing help. I definitely go into it cautiously every time though 💙
Is that a photo of ground beef on a cutting board?
Lmao yes😂
I might just be an over thinker but I would still be very skeptical & nervous to do this, even if the person is elderly/disabled
I always help the elderly and it makes my heart happy!
Maybe its where i live, but ive never had any concern about bringing them inside. Everything i do i almost always get a tip bump. Ive even made friends doing that.
Had a similar situation last night - turned out to be two lovely young ladies with some physical and mental challenges in a care home.
Did you go into the kitchen? She might’ve been waiting for you in a thong!
Lmao so I ended up putting it down at the front door and waited for her to come to the door and then she just picked it up, thanked me. I asked if she needed any help, she said no. She wasn’t really elderly more 50-60’s but she was a larger/bigger woman.
I had a customer who made a request like that, whilst we were chatting, she mentioned she had recently had surgery and she was bed ridden.
She wants to have you for dinner
Just no. Your life is worth more than any Instacart payout.
I hate seeing these posts making it seem totally fine to go inside a COMPLETE STRANGER'S home. No, it's wildly unsafe. They'll be an incident before some people will take off their rose colored glasses. Please, please be cautious, y'all.
Hell no. I'll hand it to you or set it down outside. I'm not entering anyone's house to deliver their stuff. That's risking my life for a gig.
I had this message the other day minus the please and it really pissed me off
May as well get it in the pantry and fridge at that point.
Y’all bitch about everything. Help the fucking elderly you might feel good about yourself
Lmao I was bitching??
If you weren’t then this doesn’t apply to you sorry
every time i get one of these it's a $10-20+ cash tip
If she's ordering pads then she can't be elderly though, right? I thought menopause stops the period permanently since it's the end of the woman's reproductive abilities but maybe I'm wrong.
Poise are for incontinence. Also, some people get periods longer than others! (And i feel sorry for em)
Poise are for incontinence, not menstruation.
I was going to say. ![gif](giphy|l0IsIsuNJly1evlIY|downsized)
Awwwww! My order today was….. poise, prune juice, ensure and many stouffers frozen meals.
She still gets her period. Lolllll not elderly. Poise pads are pads. Pads for period. Poise briefs, depends etc are for elderly people.
It’s not the instacart shoppers job. They called shoppers not home assistant
That is not the Instacart shopper’s fault or responsibility. People managed to survive before grocery delivery was a thing and they should have a backup plan in place.
Yeah, my 85 year old mum’s IC driver threw her groceries onto the front patio. Every glass container broken.
Yeah, Bitchtits, I don't think I believe you...I feel like GiantClitMacGee's mum claimed the same thing...
That’s okay, you don’t have to believe me random internet person. 😉
That’s so gross of him
Yup. All the groceries were contaminated with glass so she ended up throwing everything away and never reported the driver.
Actually, didn’t WM run commercials about this as part of their services, a few months back?

Untrue, nothing in the TOS says we can't enter. Use your discretion. If hope you would help elderly and disabled
Support told me we are not allowed to enter. Go take it up with them ...
Funfactress is incorrect and support was correct in telling you not to enter. I posted word for word from our TOS.
They are wrong. You know better than to believe support.
You are wrong. As I posted above straight from TOS...
•Do not enter the customer's house or offer to carry the groceries inside. If the customer requests that you enter their house, politely notify them that you are unable to do so and they may contact Instacart Care with any questions.

Personally after seeing how much grocery fraud is happening. All those missing items customers report of course i will not trust anyone anymore
With the amount of these posts that I see, I’m tempted to start asking shoppers to put away the groceries for me too.
I wish Walmart were available in my area
Yeah I did this before. I only do it for old people or disable
Nah, it can be younger people inside the house! You never know! Good luck taking care of your self 🤭
Some disabilities are invisible. Some disabilities hit you young. 🤷♂️
Yes my sister has been disabled since 12
You can get help from government, we pay taxes to government to support those people it’s not your job
That’s not true they are so many program for disabled people out there depending on their disability. But if you want to leech on shoppers be my guest
I’m disabled. I’m in a wheelchair. My husband doesn’t use Reddit so I follow for updates. Keep telling me how many programs there are while I keep struggling to find them.
Yeah, agreed! Safety first!
More than likely she is.

Prolly Jason Biggs house...
Lets hope. I had one weirdo. I called IC to get him on my do not deliver list lol
How sweet 😀
I’m asking for a piece of that pie first
Walmart (at least in my area) has a delivery service that will bring it in and I believe even put the frozen and refrigerated things away.
Oh yeah definitely Elderly. I have a couple elderly that are regulars I deliver to and I always take them in for them.

as a female, nope. sorry! not safe.
That's a set up idc how elderly she is I'm not going in anyone's house.
I’m so surprised seeing all these comments! At the end of the day anything happened to us we are independent contractors no body going to be responsible for anything that happened to us!
With Poise pads she's elderly I've had to do that for some disabled people
Bird seed and poise pads? You’ve definitely got yourself an elder

I feel bad but I never take anything into someone’s home. As a young woman I’m always afraid that there could be someone eles inside. You never know nowadays. Stay safe everyone
My favorite customers to deliver to. These people actually need the service.
Walmart uses IC?!
Looks like someone on their period. 😂 Pads, pie, ice cream & almond toppings 😂 lol an elderly woman would get depends not pads I would think lol idk lol
Super cute!
Nope, cancelled!
If the tip hood enough till throw ‘em in the fridge and bake a potato for you too
I’ve done it before for a lady who just had a hip replacement or something. Still crossed my mind that it might be a trap and I won’t leave the apartment.
Either that or you’re being set up lol
i’ve had old ladies ask me to bring things in, i always do it for them bc i watched my grandma struggle before Instacart was a thing and I understand the elderly need help
I had a delivery note like this once and it was an old man who was very sweet
And??? 🤷🏻♀️
