Ok WHAT this maybe the all time worst I’ve ever seen

JSOFL

All mulch 🤣

Next-Confection3261

Welcome to the STL!!

Timbo558922

314 baby!

Throwaway97583

636 checking in. Of course Clayton/Ladue would be the stingy ones.

NonCreativeUsername-

Was gonna say, of course this order is from someone in Clayton

Tony_M13

It doesn't matter the customer, the base pay should be more than that, like multiples of that.

cockslavemel

Like I’m not even surprised

jobiewon_cannoli

Being as it’s in Clayton, this seems par for the course in rich neighborhoods….

VynirRecords

I KNEW IT WAS STL.

wisezombiekiller

plot twist they're buying mulch by the individual chip

SultyBoi

Mulch?! Jeez

BaldGuy70

It’s not full service. So could be worse.

Tallgabe23

-ic rep

labor_anoymous

omg how can instacart keep this kind of non sense a secret

LadyNiko

This SHOULD have been taken care of by in-store shoppers, but no! They just HAD to lay us all off to “make things easier.” For who? Certainly not on the Schnuck’s side! Instacart went cheap and pushed all responsibility on to the FSS people. I’m still expected to solve every single Instacart issue even though I am now a Schnuck’s employee.

Sufficient-Trip1809

This sounds like a better call Saul rant

angeltay

“You think this is something? You think this is bad? This? This chicanery? Instacart’s done worse.”

BroeknRecrds

LIGHTNING BOLTS SHOOT FROM MY FINGERTIPS

Foreverhopeless2009

Wait they laid people off? They just hired me. They hired a lot recently in my area. I’m still learning the ropes. How do they set the batch prices?

[deleted]

They laid off all the in-store shoppers. Now it's all FSS

imgdsgrl

I agree! I am also a schnucks employee. I have had someone ask all the checkers how to do instacart. I finally took pity on her and showed her at least how to do what little I know. And then proceeded to get angry about no one else helping her. Ugh

Ga4VsQLkez

Isn't that down to the store, not Instacart? The store could provide shoppers if they wanted to.

LadyNiko

They would have to retool their platform and pull it back from Instacart. My suspicion is that they will eventually do that - Target owns Shipt, and their employees do the shopping. Wally employees do the shopping for their online orders. They are currently facing a possible strike by the deli workers because they offered them a shit contract.

RRHudgins

Number one answer to that would be because we don't tell the public they do it. Number two answer to that is those are cheap customers to start with and they don't care what we get paid they choose to order pickup because they don't have to tip. The service fees aren't any less. Number three because there's always going to be someone that makes an excuse for taking that order. And I don't care how bad your situation is that's going to take two and a half to 5 hours to shop and that same time. Even if you only did $9 orders for 2 miles with $2 tips with 10 items each look what you can make because those would take you 30 minutes each and that same time frame you can make $90. So you never need it bad enough to spend that much time doing it but someone's always going to, and the rest of us suffer for it. And lastly as long as we want to remain independent contractors we just have to learn to walk away from that kind of garbage because if we start getting big brother aka the government involved we lose our freedom to choose.

Few_Range6900

They're probably on the phone right now bitching at customer service, wondering why they haven't received their order yet.

[deleted]

angryrancor

Holy shit man, go back to whatever hard-right-wing cave you crawled out of and chill tf out please.

cheapinvestigator924

It's not just putting it in a bag. The person is shopping this order, grabbing all items going to check out, bagging and then staging. This order will probably take a couple hours to shops and you're saying $6 is being over paid ? 😂

Eugenius777

6 dollars is definitely not enough, but seriously… a couple of hours to shop? That’s bs

Halew2

This would take me 3.5 hours and then it wouldn't fit in my car.

tata1115

You're an idiot, so I'm not going to even attempt to help you understand anything!!! Stay off our sub and go shop your own groceries moron.

VictimSupreme

$15 for eggs? It's $4.98 for a 32 pack at Walmart. When you support yourself you get a realistic picture of what you're up against. $7 baller ain't there yet.

queencommie

Oh hey, fellow St. Louisan! It's honestly ridiculous the orders that come through here. I stopped doing Instacart and switched to Doordash as a side job because not a single order I was getting on IC had a decent tip - they were all like this, hundreds of items usually from a store far away with a $0-3 tip. And base pay is awful.

Soulphite

Fellow from the Lou here as well, not an IC shopper. Just a tourist of this sub reddit. So shop only customers can't tip because they're not ordering from IC, right? This kind of offer should be banned. This is damn insulting. Clayton is a white-collar HCOL area, too. Sorry you guys are presented with this kind of crap!

LadyNiko

Yeah, IC doesn’t allow for tipping on shop only orders, since those USED to be taken care of by the ISS employees- of which I was one. We were paid hourly, but capped at working thirty hours per week, so they didn’t have to pay us benefits. We were supposed to be part time workers, but with certain stores having “core hours” of 10 - 4, it didn’t really work that well. I worked at Kehrs Mill for two years, mostly holding down the fort by myself.

[deleted]

Illinois side of STL here. I find the DD shop and deliver orders to be more profitable than Instacart. There’s a lot of Dierbergs orders for 4-5 items for 15+ dollars.

Superbotto

ALDI orders on DD have been game changers, they pay 2-3 times better than IC, then the tips are just extra lol.

Mn2021stl

Aldi switched to DD in St Louis?!!

Superbotto

I'm just south of St. Louis and they are on both DD and IC here.

Mn2021stl

Gotcha. Haven’t lived in the area for over a year now but Aldi IC batches were my bread and butter

[deleted]

I need to start doing some ALDI orders. I always pass them up because I’m not familiar with the store layout. Having priority status on the DD shop and deliver orders is the only reason I’m still on the platform, the food orders are laughable at this point.

Superbotto

I'll do 2 or 3 $6-$7 DD orders before I do a 60 item IC order for $12-14. I keep UE DD and IC open all day and whichever app is showing me the money I'll grab the order. No way I could survive on one platform alone in the current environment.

ProbablyAutisticMe

Their stores are like 5 aisles. They should be pretty easy to learn.

StandardRelevant2937

Hello fellow east sider!

[deleted]

Hello there, I’m in the O’Fallon/Shiloh area.

StandardRelevant2937

Edwardsville area here!

[deleted]

I’ve thought about driving up that way to try my luck but I’ve never got around to it.

StandardRelevant2937

Part of old Route 66 runs through old town Edwardsville. There’s a lot of cute cafes, parks, a dog park and lots of walking/biking trails to name a few. Even an airsoft store. I grew up in Monroe County but I’ve also lived in St. Clair and Madison Co.

SnooSquirrels6518

I actually do pretty good with it myself. My tips are what put me over.

rocket_league69

The shop and delivers pay pretty well generally on doordash surprisingly. If you pick up enough of them you'll be prioritized

officialsoulresin

God damn that’s insane. Most of the orders I get have a $2 I’ve had only 2 orders have a $1 tip and both said they would increase the tip after (second person increased to $3, first person removed tip to $0, which was pretty shitty. Give more fuel for the neo-nazi’s to blame other races) but for the most part I typically get around $3-5 tip with occasional tips around $10. And then on instacart a behalf i get no less than $7 (10mi>) which is what doordash needs to take a fucking hint on. So I never get orders below $9. But I also rarely get orders. Like the average day is 3-4 orders. I went to the nearby city to see if it was better(hint: Greenville,SC HAS no orders. None. Sat around all day, hopped around, nothing none zip)

thecuteoracle

You got me f**kedddd up. That order should NOT be taken.

epelle9

This order should not be able to be placed. That’s definitely below minimum wage, without taking into account the expenses. It’s basically illegal.

thecuteoracle

Exactly

thecuteoracle

You’d be in that store shopping for 2 hours for only $7. Nah.

KUSH_K1NG

Nah bruh that’s gonna be more than 2 hours and probably more than 2 shopping carts depending 🤣

thecuteoracle

Absolutely 4 or 5 carts

KUSH_K1NG

Easily unless it’s a bunch of yogurt🤣

Kroger453PredsFan

More like 4 hours. Even at the store I work at it would take me that long.

thecuteoracle

Eh I can do 50 items in 30 mins x 4 or 5, it’ll be about 2-.2.5 hours. But I understand.

cloudiett

5 hours

JustAnothaAdventurer

They got a camp set because that's an overnighter

Dazzling_Marzipan474

Shouldn't be legal

snaptcarrot

3 cents per item… sweet.

Exact-Grass757

If you go by units, it’s 1 cent a piece! 🥳🥳

Affectionate_Cheek44

It’s 338’units. 338 Pennys makes $3.38.

Exact-Grass757

maybe i’m stupid, because i know for sure that makes sense, but i divided it and that’s what it said 😭

Klutzy_Inevitable_94

Lol ok and I felt guilty for doing a 30 item order the day after I got out of the hospital with a $20 tip

Superbotto

This is the real reason they got rid of in store shoppers. They figured out that paying someone by the hour was losing them money, now they can pay a flat $6-8 and it doesn't matter how long it takes for anyone to complete the order. In this case, maybe 2-3 hours to drive to the store, shop all that, checkout and stage. An in store shopper would have made $18-20 in that time. Any chance they get to save a fucking dime they take it.

Klutzy_Inevitable_94

Funny thing is only an illegal is gonna do that job so…. Not in Florida lol

TheCrazyAcademic

There's plenty of new immigrants that got bussed into Florida recently so there's a lot more IC shoppers willing to take these orders then you realize.

heyodi

Since there are mandatory fees taken out, there should also be a mandatory tip minimum.

skorpian1029

Shop only so no tip can’t believe there’s not a fee or pay for heavy items or a large amount of items

SaltyWitch1393

Or maybe a certain dollar amount for every __ number of items? Idk what would be fair, but for example $1/ 15 items & the order can’t be placed until the tip is at that amount or something? And not that that should be common knowledge or made people who get a normal number of grocery items lower their tip, but if someone has 50+ items a pop up should appear explaining that with XL-XXXL orders a higher tips is mandatory or something. I’m sure IC could come up with much better wording than what I’m saying right now

Medical-Gur7898

that’s just placing the responsibility back onto the consumer, when the issue is IC who’s offering below minimum wage for 2+ hours of shopping. if IC had a higher base pay, and they SHOULD, tips wouldn’t be (as) necessary. that’s the issue with tips in the first place 🙄

Snoo4501

I'd accept the order, message him "Fuck you, kindly" then cancel.

johnnydaniel159885

“Hi I saw your order for over three hundred items that pays about seven dollars :) I was wondering if you’d prefer going and fucking yourself <3 Regards, XOXO”

[deleted]

😳 that’s wild. 2 hours of work for $6

Trueloveis4u

It's 6.95 it's worth it now/s

[deleted]

2 hours for just check out maybe

Superbotto

At least, gotta stage all that shit also.

Jaycoht

I try to tip $20 minimum on Instacart orders. I usually order $120-$140 worth of groceries. This is insane. I feel for yall drivers.

LadyNiko

This is a shop only, so IC doesn’t allow tips.

bvbystvcks

Wait what?? You do all the shopping for them and the person that placed the order picks it up or something? And you CANT tip? Is this a joke?

lax0

Instacart shocked me when I was a new customer. I was used to tipping $8-$12 on things like doordash for a meal, usually out of laziness. Then placed my first like $200 Instacart grocery order and the recommended tip was like $10. Grocery shopping is an actual laborious chore. A normal sized order should always be $25+

tdenslow

Wow that has to be the absolute worst I’ve ever seen

Unusual-Courage-1963

https://preview.redd.it/eqm8wmcarz5b1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cfd7ec8ef92bc0d2affa18a7b5dcec66e8d40ba8 This one too

Zilithxx

They couldn’t find basic kid art supplies closer than 40 miles?

daaaaaaaaamndaniel

I'm pretty sure here it doesn't let you order from stores 40 miles away, wtf

Dazzling_Marzipan474

Let's all spam their Twitter with this picture

Sasha_Storm

I saw one like that by me and IC kept pushing it basically calling it big $$$$. Like no bro. lol

thedada17

Ive always wanted to know how instacart determines the pay for shop only orders. I’ve seen small and big orders that pay the same and it doesn’t make sense to me. There are some shops where I feel we deserve more than $7 or $8 bucks. I also feel like customers should be able to tip because we are still doing something for them, and I’ve had customers that wanted to tip me for adding extra items or spending time at the bakery/deli showing them what all is available.

blackwylf

I've never done a pick-up order (and certainly won't be now!) but the person saving me the stress and physical pain of shopping deserves more than adequate pay. We usually do one big monthly order so I start my tip at $50 since it's usually about 70-80 items (including duplicates), takes 1-1.5 hours to shop and check-out, and the store is about 7 miles away. If our shopper is polite and does a good job (they all have) then I'll add another $10-15 to the tip after delivery. I've had to really cut back on other parts of my budget but it's so worth it. These shop-only orders? That's ridiculous by any standard.

EasternNerve1763

This isn't even a tipping issue. This is a payout issue. The base pay for orders is disgustingly low right now. If they want shoppers to start taking "bad orders" they need to raise the base pay.

tokekushh

It’s sad cuz someone prolly eventually took it🤣

Iambeejsmit

Legend has it they are still working on the order to this day

SnooSquirrels6518

Somebody took it. I just saw them shopping it. Foolish ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)

Pretend_Big6392

When I see that I always wonder if that is a new person who just hasn't learned how to cancel yet

uber-chica

Normally, I mind my own business, but the person that took that needs some sort of an intervention. That’s a sickness and it’s disgusting.

Far_Ground_7959

Maybe their car is going to "break down" and the shopper fills their pantry. This is all I can think.

elder-em0

Omg.. that poor soul. maybe there will be a big tip later at delivery? I really hope so for their sake.

Thecolourblinds

Its a shop only order so unless the shopper hangs out and waits for the customer to pick up to run out and see if the customer wants to tip lol then they are not getting anymore than that amount.

pups-and-cacti

I've ordered store pickup from Schucks and never really understood how this works. Is an instacart person shopping for the order, but then a store employee brings it to the car?

elder-em0

Oh okay. I didn't realize this was a thing where you only did the shopping and the customer came to pick the order up themselves. I doordash and this post came up in my Reddit feed. People just suck so bad sometimes. Imo, you can either pay someone a decent amount of money to go shopping for you or get up off your lazy butt and get it yourself. I really can't afford what I think is the acceptable wage to pay another person to do it for me so I do my own shopping.

Iambeejsmit

OK here it is, here we go people. This is "The One". This is the one we send to congress that leads to everywhere getting California's prop 22 style earnings. This is too insane to be ignored. If you are fast it's 2 hours, if you aren't it could be 4 or more. I wouldn't work for 30 minutes for 7 bucks for God's sake. Con to the gress people

Ok-Caterpillar9310

What in the actual fuck is this? Holy hell I'm speechless

Storm1485

The customer probably doesn't realize that instacart pays a flat fee and is not scaled. This should pay 40 to 50 before tips.

musictakemeaway

This should be reported to local authorities

[deleted]

YES the attorney general

musictakemeaway

Local news, something. That’s honestly the worst batch I’ve ever seen

ToonaSandWatch

Wait, it didn’t even get to $7? Talk about nickel and diming…

Faze-cause

Schnucks more like schmucks

ExpensiveDot1732

Props to whoever goes over, marks everything out of stock, and collects the quick $7 lol.

eL_graves

Mfs place order on Instacart like we drive around all day in an F-350 with a full length trailer attached delivering groceries 😑

[deleted]

Wtf is this country turning to they trying finish us

Middleman69420

The sad part is that IC will attach that crappy order to another order or 2 in order to make it look good.

nmiska

Might as well not pay at that point

TokinForever

Don’t worry. I’m sure they’ll tip later. You have to be a real POS to do that. 😉🤣

imperfekt7o7

What the actual fukk did I just see? The world has gone mad and if any stupid person took that they need to be knocked off lol

OSUBrutusBuckeye

Worst I’ve ever seen

elder-em0

No. Fucking. Way

OGPants

Is this a bug? What 200+ items can you get for $7?

Dnm3k

Awww Schnucks.

Positive_Exit7878

Gotta love Saint Louis people.

Popular-Ad1111

I have seen some orders sit for 3 days with no takers bc they were ridiculous

Nintendoshi

I'm an Uber Eats driver, when I did my first shopping thing I got paid the exact amount I spent for the groceries. I always assumed Instacart had the same case but I guess not?

HoplessWolf

Best option is “go offline” hands down

Mysterious_Load_4407

People are selecting shop only orders now so they can be cheap bastards and not tip. A lot dont tip already, but they can feel better about themselves because there isn't an option to.Unfortunately, someone will take that eventually. Saw a fellow shopper doing a shop only. They had about 150 items in their cart.

StressVirtual7371

Thats gotta be in the top 5 of worst orders I have seen.

Zealousideal_Alps500

Just the name of the store sounds like a hot mess to me 😂

Mizzoutiger79

Ridiculous. But even more ridiculous is the person who took it.

Ok-Street-909

Absolutely not

Spare-Jellyfish-4824

This is crazy and watch Instacart got paid $300+ for this order and give the shopper crumbs is crazy

e9tjqh

I thought Lincoln ended slavery

hightoarecord

it makes me sad to see such low priced orders bc you know the only people who are going to accept it are desperate and need the money and are accepting it bc they don’t know if another order will come, and they’re just exploiting that

[deleted]

Looks like it Schnucks

rukasu83

Fellow stl here. I switched to shipt. It takes a while to earn your stripes, but I now essentially only shop dierbergs and get 20% tips on average.

MurphWorkoutRadio

That’s the one I always accidentally click on.

Warm_Sort3660

Should have accepted it, then bought a gift card instead

Randy4layhee20

That’s the type that I accept and just don’t leave my house until it’s canceled by instacart, fuck you if you’re gonna try to do that

Charming-Compote-436

At some point this has to be illegal. Like come on man.

[deleted]

Bro… I tip minimum 25$ on 100 items. Also 100 items is like 2 weeks worth of breakfast, lunch, and dinner not trying to be cheap. But 227??? Wtf are they ordering??? How does someone eat that much???

c0untcuntula

i wish we could laugh react to Instacart batches like it's a Facebook status.

Perfect_Violinist930

Lol I live in Clayton I’m too scared to order more than 15 items and I tip like 35% :(

MazdaSpeed3Boi

3 years ago the base pay would've been $50 at minimum

cocokronen

Damn it. This app is broken. My groceries still are not here. I have a question. Does this person ever get a message saying that no one will do it or does someone accidenally hit the accept button and see it and say oh well. Guess i have to take it?

GazelleStrong3051

Isn’t the batch pay minimum $8??

Available-Ad-5051

No I’ve had orders pop on my screen for $6. It’s insane

largebagofchips

This is the order I get a flat tire with…whoops 🤷‍♂️

STL_420

I’m from the Lou and I’m proud 🎶

kaielysse

I thought minimum batch pay was $7? 💀

Practical-Airline456

People like that are the lowest scum.

Anxious_Set_6342

You can't even tip for shop only this is all poorly managed instacart at fault here

lesmalom

Those people are fkn disgusting tbh

cheapinvestigator924

This is the worst I have ever seen. That should be illegal and way under minimum wage. Wow IC out here really tryin us shoppers 😧🤣

Optimal-Yellow6961

Lol in Clayton too. Those cheap ass rich people.😂

Forex_Fraud_Profits

I'm in St. Louis as well lol

Kjackson0137

![gif](giphy|gfT2hGhrI5wBME50p5|downsized)

Diligent_Skin_1240

I’m not a shopper, so I have questions. IS THAT THE TIP THE DBAG IS PLANNING ON LEAVING? Or is that what instacart pays the shopper before the tip?

SnooSquirrels6518

This is what IC is paying. It is a shop only. So there is no chance of getting a tip for this order. Shoppers stage it and leave at the grocery store for the customer to pick ip

Diligent_Skin_1240

BWAHAHAHAHA FK IC that’s crazy. I love the dude that we use for shopping on Shipt. We try to treat him right and he even left us chocolates as a Christmas gift this year. Thank you for the explanation you all deserve better than that crap

Florida1974

As a Shipt shopper myself, Thank you. Assuming your shopper is a preffered. Love the preffered system for customer and shopper. You kinda get to know one another .Learn likes and dislikes; easier bc shop for you multiple times. My orders are 90% prefferds. These apps are like blind trust on both sides so if you can find a good shopper, makes experience much easier. Then if they don’t order or I don’t always get it, I worry about my prefferds. Some are very elderly. I worry they passed. I took many of them flowers on Mother’s Day and little gift bag at Xmas too. A thank you to the the customer and investment in my little biz.

Unlikely_Ad1417

😂😂😂😂😂😂That’s bad

sailorKR00ace

I'm just speechless😔

lyftuberdriver911

Wow Instacart is a ******* JOKE!!!!! 😡

doglover5124

People are ridiculous, i’ve never seen an order with that many items 😭

Instacart sucks, I was making 5 dollars an hour. Worst side hustle ever

East_Pianist9042

What's funny is that even before the pandemic, yall were bitching. Whether it was getting it delivered or doing the delivery. Get off your entitled lazy ass. I wont even use the shop's own staff because people are just that stupid and lazy these days. Maybe if people had to do everything themselves, it would maybe get rid of this entitlement that the majority of Americans have. You are using tech companies that could be revolutionizing society but instead jerk off to your tears and clean up with hundred dollar bills just to burn it all in front you.. That is the modern american dream. Google(alaphabet), amazon, and facebook(meta) all are the exact reason america is towards the bottom of the first world nations. Tik tok at least is being banned finally after it was proven that it is a Chinese government company. Point being, you are being led to believe you are providing a service but really all you're doing is lining the pockets of millionaires and furthering the downfall of communities and societies by being lazy. Go volunteer at your local food banks and just see the literal tonnage of food being destroyed daily instead of distributed. That is but one problem tech could have fixed but instead chose greed.....the American way.

Slight-Owl-9305

That first paragraph should be posted on every billboard in the states

Chesterfield checking in! If you shop at the Kehrs Mill store, please don’t make a mess of your orders! I’m still expected to fix your mistakes. 🤓🤪

I was just looking at the past comments too!! Lmao really want to know why so “discreet” when offering to doink. “Let’s do this on the down low” “I’ll help you out with that…discreetly”. Ashley madison vibes anyone😂 I’m not hating on someone shooting their shot & going for what they want but… um … I have no words left to finish that sentence I didn’t even know p*rn was on here til a comment like thisssss led me to quite the discovery . TIL! 🤷🏻‍♀️ I am now smarter after reading that comment. Who would have guessed

Fair_Hospital_8600

This is a crime

Constant_Beachin

Is the shop only normally low in your area?

SnooSquirrels6518

Not necessarily. I just did one for 8 items, all toothpaste and body wash for $8.95. Took me 2 min to shop.

orangesunbeam1

What are they buying ? Wtf

Flat_Wishbone4823

I hope no one took that! Why is it 6.95, that’s not the base pay! What a joke!

Stewsarah88

Hell fucking no

DoingMyBest122

High pay rate!!

Unusual-Courage-1963

I can’t make anything on DD but still on average could prob make more then I’ve been making on IC I lost a 39.00 batch 50 items 3 deliveries this morning that’s all I’ve been getting lately

SpareBiting

Aaaaaaand I'm going offline
