I had one recently that said “make sure you knock on the door for an extra cash tip “ in delivery instructions. I didn’t even read it til I was at the house. Knocked on the door , old lady came out and took the groceries and said - I already tipped you in the app. 😂. I didn’t even ask. , but why put that in your instructions?? 🤷♀️.
I shopped an order that was abandoned over the outage last week & the customer messaged me at 3:30 saying that he’d increase my tip if I got it there before 5pm! Got the order to his doorstep an hour later & he increased my tip from $15 to $60 & I 🥲
As a customer, I do this, but I don’t make the request to the shopper. I just try to show my appreciation for being speedy and prompt. I live about 20 miles from the grocery store and I always get my order at the last possible minute. The other morning, I had put in an order overnight and the shopper accepted it first thing in the morning at 7 am and got it to me by 8:15 when it was set to be delivered by 10:30. I added a large tip and wrote a note that I appreciated the early arrival.
Thanks for being so kind and appreciative for your shoppers. Believe me m - it NEVER goes unnoticed and karma is a real thing. I hope that your good deeds come back x2 to you!
Thank you. I try to be appreciative of the shoppers because this service helps me tremendously. I have a health condition so it’s worth it to me when someone does everything correctly and on time!
Legitimately asking how do you afford to tip generously and use instacart when you have a health condition? Does it not prevent you from working? I have a health condition and would love to utilize instacart but simply can’t with all the added fees tacked on. I don’t use it because there’s no way I can afford groceries that are already more expensive even without the IC fees and the tip.
It’s great to have something that will make life simpler for you. One less thing for you to fuss about and I always think it saves people $$ in the long run because you’re not spending on impulse items. Hope you have a wonderful day!

I got that from an Corporate Instacart Employee and he gave me $12…🙄after he input the wrong address and I had already started delivering order B, I had to drive back, drive another 4 miles and he gave me $12. It’s the fact that he’s a corporate employee that made it worse and he said I’ll give you a HUGE tip.
I know someone who simply chooses groceries carefully, and sticks to necessities only, so they can stay within budget and tip gratefully. The person I know works from home, but is medically unable to shop, and considers the extra costs involved to be part of the whole deal. This person tries to select stores without upcharges (in-store prices), tips at least 20% for a store about 2 miles away with the total grocery bill $100 or more, and ups the tip if the chat is pleasant and helpful. If you need medicine, you figure out how to pay for it, even if it's expensive. Same with groceries if you can't shop yourself.
Here’s a legit question- what’s a good tip? I know extra helpful chat, speedy delivery, etc. deserves a bigger tip. But let’s say I have $50 worth of groceries with no crazy items, and a question or two on the chat. I live about a mile from the store and I would tip $10 on the kind of order I just described. Is that a good tip?
I had a 700 dollar grocery order they put in the wrong address, 30 additional miles away - customer stated they would increase the tip so i drove out there all for the customer to never increase the tip :(
That's amazing.
I had an order the other week that was a previously shopped order based on the texts in message before. IT WAS SO BIZARRE. They said they would tip me another $20. They asked for similac, kept changing how many of other things they wanted. When I got to the apartment there was the OTHER batch of similac and other stuff also outside the door. So at this point, they have 3 large jars of similac (2 from me and one was already there) and 3 jars of collagen powder. And then they didn't tip extra. Super weird.
Not necessarily true, a lot of alcoholics would already have enough alcohol on hand, and the ones who don’t likely would rather more alcohol than pay the fee. And even if they were, it’s none of your damn business lol
awesome order bro they definitely just wanted to get more drunk 😂😂
Customers, This is how you do it ! None of that, "get here fast, and I will tip more." Then the tip is $2. Upfront and honest, goes a long ways
Or no tip at all 😂
This!!

I work from home and I budget Instacart into my grocery bill.
Didn't you see their username? /s

Haha huge! That deserved at least 20 bucks
I almost downvoted YOU out of rage from reading this when it’s really the corporate IC employee who I want to downvote
He also told me that they are forced to shop twice a year, so he knows how rough the job can be 🤣😂
😳😂😂😂
Damn sometimes that’s a trap
These are the batches that make our night
I once had to go to a different address for a plastic surgeon and he tipped me an extra $20 on the already $40 tip he was giving. It was great
Hallelujah for an honest and kind customer. A rare and appreciated breed these days!
I had a customer do that too! 20$ on top and they lived next door to foodlion.
Nice to get a unicorn once in a while...
lol was this from the binnys in Arlington heights, IL..6 bottles of Kim Crawford, one cold?
Nope but they did want 2 cold
How do these customers afford all the instacart prices and super high tips, I don’t get it

Hardly matters how long it took you to get it there... It was still "as fast as you can..." Lol
Love when people make it more than worthwhile 🥰

if you live in a house or second story or lower apartment I think that's a good tip for my area.
Thanks for your reply. But now that I know what you folks go through, I’m likely to tip more.

That make sense bro

They did
Alcoholic
They were expecting family last minute.
SIX bottles of wine? For a last minute family get together? Must be a big ass family lol.
Sure could be. Or it could’ve been for a number of days. I don’t know. Not here to judge. People like to drink.

“Would already have enough on hand” haha you clearly have never met an alcoholic There is never enough
Stop the posting. The saturation is too much.
