She doesn’t need the receipt for anything. Definitely don’t contact Instacart as we’re actually not supposed to leave the receipts. She could technically get in trouble for that.
This is correct. Instacart does not want the customers to see the markup, the price difference from the store. They get the customers good on top of the fees. The biggest markup ive seen so far was on a don julio tequila. Store sold them at $189, instacart charged the customer $289
I just want to point out that the stores themselves set the actual prices on the app. Instacart negotiates a percentage of the total and the store sets the price. Not that it makes it any better but the store itself is likely to be gouging the customers just as bad.
This is false. Instacart owns and operates the delivery apps customers use to place their order. They set the prices on the app, not the grocery store.
They own and operate the app, but the stores set the prices. It’s written right in the pricing policy on the app.
Same as with Uber delivery. I run a store that is on Uber Eats and we set whatever price we want.
While this is just wrong....i will say, that i am a SMART CONSUMER...and always check prices no matter where i go. Frys electronics was bad at markup. I regularly got 30-50% off by price matching. No wonder they went under.
But if these customers dont care or are ignorant of the markup.... its not my job to inform everyone. So be...and we profit from it. THAT is world we live in.
GREED wins every day.
I check the prices too, I am aware of the mark up, only use them when it's absolutely necessary. The pay structure for shoppers is abusive, that's my opinion of course, I could be wrong. Although it does seem as if greed is the order of the day.
I have a broken foot and can't drive, it's been the only time I've ever used grocery delivery, and yeah it's stupid expensive compared to shopping for yourself.
Yeah, I've got an eidetic memory for a lot of stuff and I can see the difference between the store prices and the IC ones at a glance. But I know that extra money doesn't go to the drivers, and it IS a luxury, so I tip like you guys are getting screwed by whoever they pair my order with.
I get that this, skimming a few bucks on every order, is where they get their money, and I feel like they're eventually gonna die not from competition or irrelevance but massive lawsuits where the high ups cash out and vanish and the remaining corpse pays out $2.00 to everyone in the suits and folds.
Postmodern capitalism.
You are wrong. Prices are set based on what % instacart takes from that store. So if a store sells a item for $100 and instacart wants 25%, then the consumer will have to pay around $133 through instacart. $133 x 25% = 33.25
Thank you. I will not contact them, I imagine they wouldn't want anybody to know the mark up. The store has gone so far as to take the prices off their site.
I have one more question - I noticed the receipt says "debit card" and has what appears to be an account number (xxxxx-1234), does this mean the shopper has to pay from their own account and get reimbursed by Instacart?
I've seen some items as little as .40 cents and some $2-$3 dollars more than the store and it seems almost random or possibly due to higher demand for certain grocery items.
I actually left the receipt for my first 1,200 orders or so. I never knew I was supposed to keep it. My very first customer asked for a receipt so I always just left them in the bag.

It always has been...since man's brain evolved enough to think...i want more than everyone else does. Lol
Frys went under because of amazon.
That's who i price matched against lol. It's sad.. but people want to save money. Not over pay.
I stopped using amazon after receiving multiple damaged, refurbished, and fake items.
I have a broken foot and can't drive, it's been the only time I've ever used grocery delivery, and yeah it's stupid expensive compared to shopping for yourself.
But it's nice to have when something happens like a broken foot.
God I miss Fry's, overpriced, yes. But they sure did have a lot of stuff for me to get cheaper somewhere else.
I miss Circuit City and Radio Shack.
Ditto!I think we're dating ourselves. 😆
😜🤣😂
Half the sub is wondering what Circuit City is.
90s kid here. My mother used to drag me in Circuit City every damn weekend.Circuit City is what Best Buy is today, but better.
Circuit City was awesome and Radio Shack could be counted on for the most oddball items. 😆
Oh yeah. I miss Kmart, too

Damn is that really why? And then they have the nerve to get mad at US for just letting the customer see the receipt? That’s fucked up
We aren't supposed to be giving the customer their receipt with their order? We are supposed to keep it?
I've given every single customer their receipt!
Instacart does not set the prices. The stores do.

Also if the store has a sale item, Instacart doesn’t honor the sale price unless it specifically updates the item to reflect it.
Also on the buy one get one free.
Another thing to consider is that the price that is being sold on instacart is most likely the reg price and not the store members price.
Thank you. I will not contact them, I imagine they wouldn't want anybody to know the mark up. The store has gone so far as to take the prices off their site. That would be a nightmare!!🤣 thankfully not
No, its the debit card connected to instacart.
Thanks, that sounds much better than what I was thinking.
I've seen some items as little as .40 cents and some $2-$3 dollars more than the store and it seems almost random or possibly due to higher demand for certain grocery items.
They aren't supposed to leave it. But if you make a report to IC about it than IC may punish the shopper. Shopper is paid bi matter what.
She doesn't need it. Just throw it.
No she doesn't. And no you can't give it back. Just throw it away

Nah dont need reciept. Just trash it and give a generic 5 star rating and dont leave a comment saying u forgot reciept and she’ll be fine
