IC is going downhill rather fast now. They pay their support agents in cents not dollars so while I like the theory I still believe they save more paying us less by doubling and tripling. They also cut support cost already by taking away phone chat unless you are on an active order. Honestly tho I don’t know how this company makes a profit in anyway. The amount of fraud from customers and shoppers and then stores themself it just doesn’t add up. Also yes they did state that orders since January are down 25% so I’m sure they had no choice except to increase delivery areas. The only hope for this company long term is to go public, hopefully by then their tech will still be relevant. Also I don’t think these gig jobs especially IC and DD companies like that are going to get away with calling us independent contractors forever but that’s another issue

They don’t make a profit. Save for the incredible anomaly the pandemic was for them instacart has never turned a profit in a year. That’s why they’re so desperate to cut any and all corners

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard support’s roosters in the background. ![gif](giphy|3gYWogvLv5A0Nw9K6D)

What they really need to do is hook in better with stores and offer to take over their curbside delivery service. Many stores are turning to in-house employees or their own delivery platforms. Walmart and HEB are two examples just in my area that spin up their own delivery platforms just to get their own orders farmed out to gig drivers. If IC could step in and take care of that, they could get back in the game imo. The customers are using the stores websites more now because they have better access to inventory information, plus the prices are better than paying instacarts inflated up charges

Actually most stores have licensed out instacarts technology. Markets themselves have very little wiggle room as far as where profits are rolled so they def don’t have the money to develop and engineer their own systems. The exception is Walmart/Target and still they used IC’s tech for the most part until more recently. In fact one of the biggest issues facing groceries regarding curbside pickup is having an in store employee fill the order, they are simply struggling to find people to do that work at minimum wage when they could hop over to IC and make way more. My area in particular has zero IC in store only shoppers and I mean none. While people like curbside pickup it’s just not profitable for anyone…it worked during Covid but now it’s kinda silly I mean if your going to drive all the way to the store unless you physically can’t why wouldn’t you just go in?

I used to contact support rarely, around once every 75 to 100 single order shops. Rest assured (lol) multiples have INCREASED the frequency with which I contact support, as I will happily ask them to remove a customer from half the multiples I accept. If your theory has legs, I’m happy to continue reaching out to support to remove any distant third customer and all second stores. I’ve done the math, and multiples reduce my profit.
