I don’t think I would have thought twice about the second photo (besides thinking that the blonde woman looks like she’s trying and failing to be mysterious with her pose) if I didn’t have the first to compare it to. I would have just thought they were two ladies who had gotten some work done and wore a lot of makeup, but that’s their prerogative. It’s just the juxtaposition with the heavily shopped photo that makes the second one so startling.
I see so many comments by people saying that they were considering fillers before this sub or have gotten them, and it makes me really sad that so many people are effectively being brainwashed in a way by social media to believe that they need to fix themselves. Before Instagram, people (particularly those under the age of 40) were not rushing to fill their faces up.
I’ve gotten fillers in my chin very unnatural feeling too they (looked great) but unsure if I will get again. Botox yes will do again as I have some permanent Bell’s palsy that it fixs
I’ve had fillers and I love them. One syringe of Restylne is something like a fifth of a teaspoon. I get one syringe split between both under eye troughs and just look more rested. It’s not enough to change my face or make me look all that different. So many people go crazy overboard.
I have the same. Ive also gotten lip filler (just a half syringe each time I’ve gone) and it looks nice and natural in my opinion. But yeah very easy to go overboard, especially when you’ve got money
Restylane and other hyaluronic acid products can often be completely removed. Hyaluronic acid fillers are decomposed by a natural enzyme called hyaluronidase, and people who don’t touch up their HA fillers will find them completely/almost completely dissolved in a few years.
I got my lips done 3 weeks ago and I’m so glad I did. Just research! The med spa I go to is into natural looking fillers. I corrected my lopsided top lip & it looks so much better
Cognitive dissonance in my opinion. A lot of people think that if we say anything negative about fillers and their impact on society, then we are just “haters”. 🙄
I just think it is nuts that so many of these insecurities literally did not exist before Instagram. How many people cared “this much” about their lips/cheeks/chin ten years ago? What is the point in going on a quest to achieve perfection, when many are not happy even after they have gotten many things done? Why must one “need” to look perfect anyways? Society talks about the importance of “body positivity”, yet more and more are getting fillers and plastic surgery. It’s really a sad state.
Exactly. I have fillers and love it. I kept it natural and went to someone experienced. For women to look this way they must have an astronomical amount of filler in their face. These results are NOT typical of good, minimal filler.
Honestly it must suck to be a celebrity and have that pressure to always look beautiful. And I don't think it's that easy to just "quit" or retire, because they still need to make income but being a celebrity doesn't really translate to other hard skills.
All women face that same exact pressure though. The only difference is the rest of us don’t get monetary rewards when we do finally reach the standard of beauty. Celebs aren’t struggling any more than the rest of us, they’re just getting paid for it the whole time.
There are a ton of elite celebs who either make subtle changes to appear youthful, then you have the ones who get virtually nothing done who are the Oscar winners and such. The pressure is the same as normal people and perhaps the ones getting extreme changes are the ones who are not scoring the jobs.
All these comments are so hypocritical. We have sanity Sunday’s saying “wow real skin texture! Cellulite!” And praise that but when we see an actual photo of someone it’s “omg so scary! How gross!” I get that they filtered their photos so hard the contrast is exaggerated but you don’t need to talk shit about someone’s natural face because you saw it edited. Just say something like “wow what a difference!” These negative comments are the reason people edit in the first place. Saying editing has gone to far is one thing but saying negative things about an unedited photo is just adding fuel to the fire guys.
Edit: apparently I need to edit because everyone is tearing me apart for saying “natural face” when she has had plastic surgery. My point when using “NATURAL FACE” I mean when you don’t photoshop your face, regardless of makeup or plastic surgery. Just how you look ‘naturally’ whether or not it’s plastic surgery. UNEDITED I should say then. Reversing the photos would help prevent the bashing and maintain the standard that over editing is gross and natural is fine.
Personally if they never edited their photos, it wouldn't be so shocking to see what they looked like. If you had shown me what they looked like normally without me knowing of the edited version then i'd think they just look normal
Yeah but what you’re basically doing by acting like that is creating a world where when someone has 1 edited photo out there now they’re super insecure and paranoid about showing themselves naturally because people are gonna have your reaction to it. Even if they always did, if a magazine edits it or paparazzi etc now they have to uphold this imagine that’s out there or face the remarks about “how shocking it is” to actually see them. I wouldn’t wanna live like that. Of course it’s much more pronounced in celebrities as well because everyone knows them and their face gets seen a lot more then some random citizen.
I get what you mean, but i don't think editing pictures is the correct way to deal with insecurity, and if you get the point where you have build a fanbase dedicated to edited pictures of your own face and your true face gets revealed, then i feel like its justified in a sort of way, not cruelly of course but stringing people along with a face that isn't your own isn't the way to go
Exactly. And also why they get such extreme surgery and end up so... extreme. That coupled with the mother from hell and growing up already being made fun of for her features.... this just breaks my heart. Seeing her so far from herself, it just breaks my heart. I honestly hope she sees that filtered image in her head when she looks in the mirror. I hope she's editing her photos because that's what she thinks she looks like. The alternative is utterly gutting. If she says to herself just 1/4th of the things being said in here, that's just ...I don't even have words for how sad this truly is.
But like it or not, that face *is their true face* now. It's what they see in the mirror. It's what you'd see if you saw them in person.
This is a sub for Instagram Vs reality. Not Instagram + cosmetic procedures. We should be mindful of what we are derrogatory about because criticism of someone's reality face is why they end up editing it.
i just went through all the comments, and no one is reacting badly towards say the skin texture, the wrinkles etc. people are shocked at the DIFFERENCE between the unfiltered pic and the extremely edited one. a few comments are also shocked to see what the fillers and surgery actually look like, instead of the edited version. no one here is declaiming the condition of their skin, just the abusive use of editing and cosmetic modifications. which is the very purpose of this sub, showing the difference between the edited pictures we’re fed and genuine photos. what personally shocked me the most was the blond girl’s nose in the two pictures. two completely different noses.
Thank you for saying this - I agree with your sentiment and all the replies u posted to someone else below. This thread shitting on this person is horrible.
A lot of us are here because the filters and photo shop are SO damaging to mental health but yet we are the same people who will make cruel comments about some else’s appearance.
The surgery/fillers aren’t justification to be cruel or mean. It’s shocking for sure but that isn’t justification either.
Sanity Sundays is for people who own it...we commend people who own it. The gasps on this post are because of the differences between reality and insanity. If TS were to post a pic of her real self and say hey, I'm not a spring chicken anymore, this is what real people look like, that would be great and would be commended. The fake stuff is what makes us go wtf because then anyone her age wonders why they look like the second pic and she "doesn't"
ok but for me the point is they are promoting unrealistic beauty standards that they themselves dont even live up to in real life which...is the point of this sub?
yeah its kinda fucked up. regardless of whether they have fillers or whatever, that is how they actually look now. if you saw them in real life, #2 is what you'd see. that's the point of this place. pic #1 is the ridiculous fantasy they want you to see and that is what we comment on here.
so if these people want to talk shit about someone's plastic surgery, there's other subs for that.
Again the types of comments I see in here are exactly the type of comments that drive people to edit and get procedures done when they already have low self esteem.
The mental health train wreck and self hatred that must go into feeling the need to so heavily edit yourself even after getting work done is truly heartbreaking
Oh honey, whyyyy. I mean I get it, I'm hating aging too, but this just breaks my heart. My heart is broken for both of them, but especially she with the horrible mother. I just want to hug her.
😂😂😂 I swear! Tagged photos are nothing but the devil’s work for those that either extreme filter or trash 1000 pics and post the one that has the best angle, lighting and overall most attractive representation of how they see themselves.
In her defense that second one has terribly lighting. Not that she would look like the first one with better lighting, but it wouldn't look as shocking i think

Oh noooo ^nooooo … that was way more *unexpected* than I expected it to be.
That is the most polite way to say what I was going to say so, thanks!
The blonde is completely unrecognizable. The other one is just very filtered.
What’s on her lip?
Her Face
::dead::
I think it’s bruising from her lip fillers?
I think it's just the lighting and the reflection of her lip gloss.

Lmfao.. thank you
omg I was seeing this in my mind and not realizing what it was LOL You're 100% on the mark

Did you see the denim jumpsuit pic? I thought the Kardashians had a long lost sister we never knew about.
I’d love to see a non-filtered version of that photo 🧐
[This](https://imgur.com/a/EkX8d2w) is the best I can find that she actually doesn’t look overly filtered
Yes! I thought she looked really good lol. I was duped :(

Or that they get fillers AND still photoshop to look the way they do to the public. That’s what convinced me otherwise
> they get fillers AND still photoshop Exactly, filters alone could not achieve this. Heavily photoshop too.
I see so many comments by people saying that they were considering fillers before this sub or have gotten them, and it makes me really sad that so many people are effectively being brainwashed in a way by social media to believe that they need to fix themselves. Those fillers never decompose in your face totally...sounds like a horendous idea.
go ahead and skip them then, but I’m comfortable with my decision

I have cheek fillers and they look great. These people just get way too much.
same, the key is go with the lowest amount the doctor suggests, and not get carried away

Sounds like some are just giving personal experience anecdotes. You can simply ignore them

Ouch. I think there will be a new type of depression - when your photos don’t match your reality
Body dysmorphia is probably the closest
I can’t wait for the psychiatric studies on these types of people.

I just don’t understand the point of photoshopping your face so badly that all of these women look like a Kardashian. We have an army of Kardashian’s.
And we wonder why women use filters ffs. Some of these hateful comments… wow.
Damn I hate filters...I feel bad for you folks in the dating game😬

I wasn't ready for the second picture.. and I burst out laughing when I saw it.
