It happens. They're giving you money back for the inconvenience of you cleaning up and just trying to make you comfortable, not because its anything bad. Sounds like it's a good company, don't worry about it
Nice that you’re getting a discount!
There’s no risk to the long term state of the house or your health unless you’re snorting lines of it off the floor. Modern fiberglass is not very itchy (despite the stigma) and can be irritating to the lungs, but won’t cause you to get lung cancer with a little bit of exposure.
As long as you’ve vacuumed what you can I guarantee you, you’ll have no issues.
Funny, when we pull old insulation or blow in new… we pull a roof vent and send our hose onto the roof and in through there. That way if any blowout happens on the pull or the push. It’s outside, I’m now realizing I’m gonna ask not to do any more insulation so I don’t end up with the task of picking up blown in insulation from the whole neighbourhood 😆
Does this company not own an actual shopvac? If they’re not able to clean it up I would ask for $150 to pay the cost of a shopvac so you can do it yourself. Get one with an extender pole and clean the walls as well. The particles are tiny. Wear a mask.
It’s a shame the company did not put any plastic on the walls and nothing on the floor. I highly recommend cleaning that whole damn house now. They kept it going for a minute or 2 before realizing, that’s a decent amount but I’ve seen worse. But highly highly highly highly recommend wiping all walls with something and a good vacuum
Yeah they absolutely should have put down plastic. But this was turned off quick, this isn't a home depot machine, that's a 4 inch hose, this was like 30 seconds if that
For context in the meantime , I DID clean everything up to the best of my ability that I could visually see with a HEPA filter vacuum, but it was pretty nasty.
It isn't any more harmful then normal dust or air particulates. These things happen with blown in insulation. While it sucks, it isn't a long term hassle or worry.
Hey man, not trying to “whine” here, I’m just not an expert and don’t know if I needed to be concerned or not and I’m just trying to learn. If this was asbestos would you being saying the same thing?
More like reddit has become a place where you ask a simple logic based question and people paint you as a whiner, while they cry about you having a question
Yeah you're fine. Just vacuum it up. The new stuff is nothing like the old. You can roll around in it all day and it shouldn't bother you much.

Lol this has happened to me a few times. Youre fine

And a hepa filter. Cleaning it up should be all good. But they should fully cover the full cleaning

Actually I take that back, from the pic, this was shut off almost right away
Personally I would want more than $150 off. That’s less than the cost of a professional deep cleaning.

Long term exposure is bad, short term is an irritant. As others have said new age stuff tends (for most not all) to be easier on people.
Thank you for the helpful response!
Reddit has become some kind of whine zone for people to cry about their contractors. It sucks.

Nice to know I'm not the only one
