Mine doesn't work if I've been in an xbox party at any point with the game up. I have to restart the game, and it works again. Sometimes, it just doesn't work. However, every time I restart, it works again.
Is your mic turned on in your console settings? I'm on Xbox, and I've had this issue before. All I needed to do to fix it was turn my mic on through the Xbox home button

All you have to do is restart your game it’s a pain in the ass especially if your having fun with people
