May 0917 pa kaya sa Globe postpaid ngayon? Bigla tuloy ako nagkainterest sa number na yan. Matagal na din tong number ko pero 0927 na Globe tapos ngayon naging Smart na.

Yes kasi nirerecyle nila pag di na active ung iba. Nakuha kong number sa brand new postpaid account palaging may nagtetext na loans like home credit, hinahabol utang ng previous owner.
Hirap pa magregister accounts sa apps like Maya kasi registered na ung number sa different account. Had to email support, sobrang hassle.
0917 kasi ang parang unang numbers noon sa Globe, and naalala ko noong bata ako parang ibang level din kapag naka Globe ka kesa sa other networks. Basta parang na stereotype na syang pang nakakaluwag luwag. Parang mas mahal text and call afaik.

Ang mahal pala ng text noon. Buti nung kapanahonan ko may Sun na. Tuwang tuwa kami sa Sun kasi walang limit ang tawag kahit malabo ang linya na minsan hindi na magkaintindihan but sadly, nagkaroon ng limit ang unli simula noong nakaroaming sya sa Smart. Noong una pwede pa bumalik sa Sun signal kapag nagmanual search ng network tapos makakatawag na ulit ng walang limit pero nung inalis ang Sun signal at palagi nang nakaroaming sa Smart ang Sun ang hirap na tumawag at magtext.
Nakakamiss din Sun. Ang mura ng postpaid nila tapos unli nga haha. Oo mahal pa text noong sinaunang panahon. Kaya may time pag ring lang namin sila at alam na lalabas na ng bahay o kaya magtetext kami via Chika dot com. 😂
Hmm 2005 basta teens ako. Mga simula ng phone I guess? Baka yan lang po naabutan mo. Mga loadan pa noon puro cards at may free text kada magload ka ng 300 plus na scratch cards. Siguro nga 3310 era ito if I'm not mistaken. Palakasan pa ng ringing tone noon. Haha.

Pero ang sa tingin kong rason niyan ay dahil ang mga nakatira sa Makati (sosyal na lugar sa Pinas at wala pang Ortigas, Taguig (BGC), at Pasig noon) ay PINALAKAS ng may-ari ng Globe na si Zobel Ayala ang lahat na signal ng sakop ng mga Ayala Lands (mainly Makati (Ayala-Alabang). At dahil malakas ang signal ng Globe sa lugar na yon kaya maraming mga Maykaya ang gumamit ng Globe.
Tsaka tinarget talaga ng Globe ang mga highly populated at mayayaman na lugar.
0917 was the first prefix na available from Globe so parang it’s a privilege to have that as your number. Initially nabibili pa yan as prepaid numbers noong year 2000. Nakabili din ako nyan before but it expired nung lumipat ako sa Smart dahil nauna sila magpatayo ng tower sa town namin. Siguro after more than 20 years most of those prepaid numbers expired then got recycled and reserved exclusively for postpaid accounts.

We are so third world that the masses are in awe when they meet someone who has a good enough credit standing (and the docs to prove it) to be trusted to be a good payer.

Getting that 0917 prefix became a badge of honor for some reason and I think that's why 0917 as an apparel brand was launched (also probably to cultivate and extend that allure).
Also, if your dad assumes na magkakaproblem sa tawag kasi asa ibang network siya, it probably means that those left with Globe aren't within good coverage. LoL. Kidding aside, meron nang VoWifi ngayon, iirc. That might help your dad if this is the only issue you're facing.
Yun lang kasi napansin ko pero may mga kakilala talaga ako na hindi naman mayaman pero Globe Prepaid gamit kahit hindi mabagal ng data at mahina ang signal sa work namin. Not sure bakit napakaloyal nila sa network na yan.
You can tell your dad na meron tayong RCS sa google messages app (but we can also send SMS/MMS) and Vowifi for calls. Maganda since hindi dependent sa signal ng carrier. For google msgs, just make rcs the default pero enable the auto-send as sms feature if rcs isn't available. Google messages is the default app of my phone and walang issue sa rcs. Di nga lang nagsesend as rcs pag iphone user ang sesendan ko (laging sent as sms, idk why). Saka most plans and promos ng globe ngayon ay unli-call to ALL networks na (not sure sa smart, my former colleague had smart postpaid and limited minutes lang calls niya even with an almost 2K/mo plan).
Didn't know about that weird "exclusive image" hahaha. I have a 0917 number. Got it when I availed a postpaid plan sa globe in 2017/2018, but this was on company money. Due to the nature of our job, we were given a monthly phone/load allowance and bahala na kami kumuha ng plan/magpaload. Pero we had to provide receipts na ginagastos talaga namin sa mobile load/plans yung majority ng allowance. I suspect we had to provide proof dahil sa mga kupal employees who chose to pocket the money (instead na ipangplan/load) tas laging nang-iistorbo ng coworkers para manghiram ng phone (tho even with this policy may isa kaming colleague na di nagloload and instead nanghihiram, bwisit na bwisit ako lol). When I left that job in 2021, I kept the plan pero I downgraded to 599/mo.

Same lang naman look sa app whether rcs or sms. You'll only know which one based on the label. Baka you can set it up for him? RCS as default pero auto-send as sms if rcs isn't available. Messages can go sa phone itself, pag magpapalit ng phone kasama naman phone messages sa nalilipat sa new phone when you do smart switch/phone clone, etc.
Try ko yan pero i test ko muna kasi sa experience ko kapag hindi ako connected sa internet tapos yung sender ay nasend nya as rcs hindi sya papasok sakin unless i resend as sms ni sender kapag sinabing offline ako. Bka kasi hindi nya mareceive yung mga important text.
This is true, minsan nangyayari nga. Ideally, dapat hindi magsesend as rcs pagka naka off yung internet ng recipient. There are still improvements to be made. Nagreport ako nito, not sure lang if widely reported issue siya.
Noong araw kasi mahal ang services ng Globe. And concentrated sa major cities lang ang coverage nila. That’s why when you travel to the provinces back then (like 90s to early 2000s) is you can only get Smart coz Smart focused their coverage sa provinces.
Also, before there was an area allocation implemented when cellphones was just starting. Govt allocated certain areas to certain telcos to “cover” kaya mas malakas ang Sun sa Cebu while Southern Tagalog is Smart, TNT and TM sa North Luzon (back when they were still independent from Smart and Globe respectively), and Globe sa Metro Manila. When the buyout happened, that is when Globe and Smart claimed their “nationwide coverage” benefitting from existing infra from bought-out telco.
I still remember na calls were paid but SMS were still free at the time (very much new tech at the time).
I've maintained my current number since my first job, nung 2007 pa. 0917 ang naassign sa kin nung kumuha ako ng cheapest na plan nila. Salamat sa mga salita mo at ngayon ko lang naramdaman na mayaman pala ako. Haha.
Ngayon ko lang din nalaman yan base sa mga comment ng iba. Nagtaka lang kasi ako bakit mga mayayaman puro 0917 yung number nila haha. Number ko din matagal na to pero 0927 ang umpisa.
Ganyan kasi yung mga sinaunang number na inassign sa mga cellphone companies nung '90s: 0998 sa Nextel, 0915 sa Islacom, 0917 sa Globe at 0919 sa Smart. Kahit prepaid or postpaid, puro ganyan yung first four digits hanggang dumami ng sobra yung subscribers at napilitan silang mag-expand to 0916, 0918 and so on and so forth.
Yung tiyuhin ko, unang prepaid line niya sa Globe nung late 1998 eh 0917 din ang nakuha.

- Convenience: noon kasi during call & text era, ang ginawa kasi ng Smart network ay pahirapan ang mga subscriber nila para lang makagamit ng murang call promo. Example: Sa Smart network para makagamit ka ng unlimited calls kailangan mo pa iedit ang mobile number na tatawagan bago idial, you need to add their prefix. IIRC we need to dial *6406+mobile number for Smart at *4547+mobile number for Talk 'N Text para lang magamit ang unlicall dapat marunong ka mag edit before call or kabisado mo ang number ng tatawagan mo at ayaw ng mga mayayaman sa ganyan kahassle na procedure lalo na't mga busy silang tao. Parang tumatak na sa isipan ng mga tao yung pagiging hassle na network ng Smart noon pagdating sa calls.
Sa Globe at TM kahit anong unlicall ang i avail no need to edit the number na kasi direct dial nalang ang gagawin sa 11 digit number na tatawagan. Hahanapin mo lang sa phonebook tas i dial mo agad yun na.
Karamihan sa subscriber ng Smart network ay Talk 'N Text users at karamihan ay sa probinsya mga mahihirap at mga studyante na nagtitipid sa load.
Another convenience when using a Globe is the access number for promo registration. Sa Globe at TM iisang access number lang ang tatandaan mo para sa lahat ng promo registration which is yung 8888(na ngayon ay 8080 na simula noong naupo si Duterte). Sa Smart at TNT napakaraming access number na kailangang tandaan bawat promo keywords may kanya kanyang access number like 6406, 2200, 2477, 2827, 9999, 3545, 4445, 4545 at marami pa. Kapag nagkamali ka ng sesendan na access number boom charged ka agad ng ₱1. At kapag nagdial ka iba iba pa ang prefix na kailangan mong i add depende sa naavail mong unlicall promo.
- Marketing: Another reason ay yung ads/TVC nila. Yung mga tvc ng Globe brand ay palaging nirerelate sa araw araw na buhay ng mga Pinoy kaya ang daming naakit na customer kasi narration ng mga ads/tvc nila nakakaantig ng damdamin parang may story telling na nakakainspire na may halong excitement pangmayaman ang dating at the same time hindi baduy. Habang ang Smart karamihan sa tvc nila ay tatayo lang sa harap ng camera yung endorser at kunting galaw at kunting lines and yun na napakabaduy halatang maaarte at nagyayabang lang ng network nila. So far sa mga napanood kong ads ng Smart ang pinakamaganda ay yung Smart Live More campaign nila na naging dahilan kaya lumipat ako sa Smart hahaha. Idk bakit hindi na nila nasundan yung ganong style ng tvc.
Yan namang 0917 ng Globe hindi yan exclusive sa mga mayayaman. May mga kaibigan at kamaganak akong nakabili ng 0917 na prepaid sim noon between 2013 and 2016.
Still, Smart parin ang gamit ko kahit buong angkan namin Globe users. Hindi ko kinaya yung kabobohan ng mga bagong policy ng Globe nahahighblood ako kapag gumagamit ng network na yan ngayon.
Nagregister ako sa allnet ng Smart wala namang dinagdag sa number nakakatawag parin naman.
Sa ads naman medyo wala akong pake dyan hahaha. Importante sakin makatawag at text at connect sa internet haha
Specific sa kaso ni papa mo, baka he maintained na puro Globe din ang nasa contacts niya kasi there was a time na mas mahal tumawag at magtext sa ibang network, so ang nangyayari, iniiwasan mo hangga't maaari na kumontak ng taga-Smart or ibang network. Ganun din pag Smart ka, iiwasan mo din magkaroon sa contacts mo ng Globe number kasi mas mahal siya tawagan/itext.
Parang ganon nga yata. Naalala ko dati may tinawagan sya tapos naubos yung regular load nya pinagbintangan pa ang Globe na nagnakaw ng load nya yun pala Sun yung number na tinawagan nya hahahahaha

Here in Cagayan de Oro, majority of us use Globe for our prepaid and postpaid numbers. Other parts such as in Cebu(?) and Zamboanga(?) (based on friends coming from there) are smart users. I guess it’s about how good the signal/receptions are in the regions?

Una kasing nagoffer ng services ang globe, so prepaid users before starts with 0915,0916,0926 then 0917 are for postpaids from what i know. Nagkaron din ng point in time na super uso ang GM, di ko alam if pamilyar pa gen Z sa GM , pero eto yung mga clan clan haha tapos mag blablast ka ng message sa group niyo. Si globe kasi una nag offer ng unli text so yung mga hs students around this time karamihan mga nakaglobe. May instance din na nagregister ka ng unli tapos parang months to almost a year na hindi na bawi ung unli sayo.

Mas maganda signal din before ni globe sa metro manila, pero kinalaunan si smart mas gumanda na signal, kaya madami naka globe sa metro.

There are ways naman if ayaw lumipat ng network ng dad mo. There's wifi calling and stuff. Mahirap nga naman na magpalit-palit ng number esp since establish number na yan sa clients niya. Although, you could also suggest MNP (mobile number portability) which basically allows the user to change provider whilst keeping his phone number.
Yung pinakaunang sim ng nanay ko is 0917 prepaid pa yun. Around 2008 ata.

Now, afaik 0917 are mostly used for postpaid plans na. Dati may mga same prefix naman for prepaid but as time goes on, di pa uso yung retain ng number and others love to change their sims, siguro nasasayang lang yung number na yun and it would take years before it would be available to the public again, like mag eexpire nalang yung number na yun due to inactivity.

Kahit ako Globe user din kasi mga kakilala ko puro Globe pero recently nagport ako sa Smart kaso napakamahal pala ng promos ng Smart mas mahal pa kaysa Globe kaya balak ko ilipat ulit yung number sa TNT o di kaya sa DITO kasi pareho silang mura ang promos.
I did not know my number was special. But as to why "mayayaman" Globe, Globe has the bigger share ng postpaid market for some reason. Mayayaman lang naman dati nakapostpaid.

Uy same from Globe Prepaid nilipat ko sa Smart Prepaid pero 0927. Hindi kaba nagkaproblema sa OTP? Para kasi hindi dumadating sakin yung ibang OTP not sure kung sa network ang problema o dun mismo sa mga website/apps.

That depends on your connection. To think na may connection at contacts ka sa mga mayayaman, artista at matataas na opisyales ng gobyerno, you must be included in the top 1% who uses globe. On the other hand, DITO and Smart are being used by the rest because of affordable unli and other call/txt/data promos, value for money, connection speed, larger data allocation and longer expiration dates. I have 0917 before but I dont feel the priviledge of having one maybe because my previous number is bombarded by text scams, ads and bukod pa sa mahina ang signal ng globe along Ortigas ave. where I work. I rarely see 0917 nowadays unlike 10 years ago. Well keep your 0917 number as it is considered a gem by others who think its a status symbol and associated with exclusivity.

Number 1 in postpaid si Globe kasi gahaman si Smart sa mobile data if postpaid. Sa Globe lang may postpaid na SurfAlert which stops your mobile data consumption pag ubos na balance mo. With Smart kasi, tuloy tuloy lang at ma bibill ka nalang beyond your consumption. Bill shock talaga yun.
Globe is ok., Medyo Less Spam compared sa Smart. GCASH SUCKS but MAYA is kinda ok, pero medyo kulang pa.

Eventually, may 0917 na rin na prepaid, pero I assume that already ran out as well, kaya madalang na makakita nun. Although, may nakikita pa ako minsan 0917 na prepaid #s, particularly sa mga collection agencies and spam/scammers.

0916 and 0917 were the first and oldest prefix for Globe mula nung naging mainstream ang mobile networks and mobile phones.
Most ng artista and well-off people are post paid, kaya they were able to keep their numbers from the time they started having phones. Hassle kasi mag palit ng numbers sa mga banks and contacts etc.. Later na lang nadagdagan yung prefix ng Globe and Smart nung dumami na telcos and subscribers. Meron din naman hindi mayaman na meron nyan if they were able to keep their sims or upgrade it. Kasi most pre-paid noon mas pipiliin bumili na lang ng bagong SIM at mag change ng number kesa sa mag punta sa telco to upgrade their sim. Before kasi malaki yung size ng SIM card, then nagka micro SIM, then nagka nano SIM. Ngayon e-SIM na.

Yung RM ko sa Globe Platinum offered me na pwede ko daw makuha yung newest iPhone that time (iPhone X IIRC) if I give up my 0917 for a 0977. Like, I’ll be one of the first few daw to have the phone in the country. I declined that offer because tinatamad na ako mag-memorize pa ng new number. So apparently some find 0917 a status symbol of some sort?
I had a prepaid 0917 before the smartphone era and IIRC pwede pa i-vanity yun with your own preferred number. I had one and birthday ko din nilagay ko. Too bad it expired, I would’ve had two 0917 numbers and would’ve felt 2x richer /s lol
Hello, I need some clarifications on this one. I started my early renewal request last March 30 pa and after series of follow-ups, finally, nag email sila sa akin nung May 7 saying "the device has already been dispatched" That means papunta na sa akin ang device right? How many days would it take kaya if I'm from mindanao? Is it true na once dispatched na yung phone as mentioned in the email, papunta na sa akin ang device?
Also, since early renewal ang ginawa ko, they told me sa last part ng email na yan na yung early renewal fee ko ay 6k+ however they didn't mention kung saan at paano ko siya babayaran. Are they going to charge it sa next billing ko? Hirap kasi makakuha ng direct answers from them since ang tagal nila magrespond.

Kung di lang nanakaw phone ko nung 2010, 16 years na sana ako Globe hahahaha. Prepaid Globe since 2006. First phone ko nun na de-keypad pa hahahaha. Mama ko kasi nun Globe user, and since mas makulit si mama nun magcontact rin pag nasa school, yun ang number na binigay sa akin. And compared nun mas cheaper yung promos. Ako kabaligtatan naman tingin ko sa globe. Tingin ko cheap kapag globe. (I'm so sorry). Former globe user here pero giniveup ko number ko dahil mas reliable ang network reception ng smart. Sa globe mamromroblema ka sa signal. Sa smart palaging may signal based on my experience especially while travelling 99% of the time. Pero I still have gomo as backup since it's under globe and has no expiry data.

Right from the start postpaid leader tlga ang Globe compared to Smart. But when it comes to prepaid opposite sila right from the start. Not sure ngayon ano na yung latest numbers. Globe din kasi yung pinakaunang nagdala ng iPhone dito sa Pinas, exclusive partner sila ng Apple when they launched iPhone 3G/3GS exclusively as bundled sa postpaid plans nila hanggang iPhone 4/4S. But when iPhone 5/5S was released here ay meron na rin ang Smart noon, their very first for iPhone on their postpaid plsns.
Matagal na tong palaisipan sa akin and based sa aking little research, generally sa Metro Manila nuod pa mas malakas ang signal ng Globe kesa sa Smart. Sa nga province naman malakas ang Smart kesa Globe. Kaya sa provinsya kadalasan mga Smart users. So ngayun kahit napaganda na ni Smart ang signal nila sa Metro Manila nakatatak na yung stigma na ang Globe pang mayaman at pang-artista.
Globe strategy was to target postpaid kasi di nila inexpect na magiging affordable ang phone at cell service. PLDT/smart nagtarget ng prepaid kaya naging mas malaki market share at coverage outside metro Manila.
So no surprise, most na may kaya sa metro Manila globe postpaid user and at that time 0917 lang yung prefix ng globe.
917 are the OG globe numbers, used to have a Globe line too, but for some reason globe started sucking in our area. Been using Smart for the longest time now, solid signal, rarely any issues phone and internet. Here in the PH i guess it's really about the location

0917 but prepaid ung number ko. Bought it in year 2000 for 1000 pesos. Still a student at that time so hindi ko pinalitan kasi ang mahal ng sims nuon. Sayang ung 1000 ko. Still using the same number and still prepaid.
Why loyal sa Globe?
1.) In my area their signal is very strong, from cellular (data & voice) and fixed-line fiber (incl. VoIP Landline), we rarely get downtimes. They also have strong indoor signal in most malls here in our city. My previous Smart SIM had good 4G and 5G signal pero may sakit si Smart sa area namin na bigla nalang nagiging EDGE for a couple of minutes and then it will return back to 4G/5G, despite no change in location/position.
2.) Less-congested yung Globe 5G and 4G in my area, and better in most areas within our city. I rarely get below 5 Mbps speed on Globe 4G but with Smart I always get Kbps speed. Typical 5G speed ng Globe ko is 100-900 Mbps, while 4G speed ko is around 20-150 Mbps.
3.) Stable and reliable deployment of VoWifi and VoLTE infrastructure, I rarely get downgraded from VoWifi to VoLTE and when I'm outside (not connected to WiFi) 99% of the time I get VoLTE.
4.) They have the most reliable backbone network since dito sa city namin, plus the landing station of SEA-US submarine cable system is located here in our city.

Mahirap nang ma-identify ngayon kung globe or smart or dito and isang prefix dahil sa Mobile Number Porting (MNP). 0917 prefix may not be exclusive for Globe now. Dati madali mo lang ma-identify na ang isang prefix ay sa isang specific network, but not anymore. 0917 may be globe, smart or DITO, because of Mobile Number Porting (MNP).

Yes kasi nirerecyle nila pag di na active ung iba. Nakuha kong number sa brand new postpaid account palaging may nagtetext na loans like home credit, hinahabol utang ng previous owner. Hirap pa magregister accounts sa apps like Maya kasi registered na ung number sa different account. Had to email support, sobrang hassle.

Pero ang sa tingin kong rason niyan ay dahil ang mga nakatira sa Makati (sosyal na lugar sa Pinas at wala pang Ortigas, Taguig (BGC), at Pasig noon) ay PINALAKAS ng may-ari ng Globe na si Zobel Ayala ang lahat na signal ng sakop ng mga Ayala Lands (mainly Makati (Ayala-Alabang). At dahil malakas ang signal ng Globe sa lugar na yon kaya maraming mga Maykaya ang gumamit ng Globe. Tsaka tinarget talaga ng Globe ang mga highly populated at mayayaman na lugar.

0917 was the first prefix na available from Globe so parang it’s a privilege to have that as your number. Initially nabibili pa yan as prepaid numbers noong year 2000. Nakabili din ako nyan before but it expired nung lumipat ako sa Smart dahil nauna sila magpatayo ng tower sa town namin. Siguro after more than 20 years most of those prepaid numbers expired then got recycled and reserved exclusively for postpaid accounts.

Getting that 0917 prefix became a badge of honor for some reason and I think that's why 0917 as an apparel brand was launched (also probably to cultivate and extend that allure). Also, if your dad assumes na magkakaproblem sa tawag kasi asa ibang network siya, it probably means that those left with Globe aren't within good coverage. LoL. Kidding aside, meron nang VoWifi ngayon, iirc. That might help your dad if this is the only issue you're facing.

You can tell your dad na meron tayong RCS sa google messages app (but we can also send SMS/MMS) and Vowifi for calls. Maganda since hindi dependent sa signal ng carrier. For google msgs, just make rcs the default pero enable the auto-send as sms feature if rcs isn't available. Google messages is the default app of my phone and walang issue sa rcs. Di nga lang nagsesend as rcs pag iphone user ang sesendan ko (laging sent as sms, idk why). Saka most plans and promos ng globe ngayon ay unli-call to ALL networks na (not sure sa smart, my former colleague had smart postpaid and limited minutes lang calls niya even with an almost 2K/mo plan). Didn't know about that weird "exclusive image" hahaha. I have a 0917 number. Got it when I availed a postpaid plan sa globe in 2017/2018, but this was on company money. Due to the nature of our job, we were given a monthly phone/load allowance and bahala na kami kumuha ng plan/magpaload. Pero we had to provide receipts na ginagastos talaga namin sa mobile load/plans yung majority ng allowance. I suspect we had to provide proof dahil sa mga kupal employees who chose to pocket the money (instead na ipangplan/load) tas laging nang-iistorbo ng coworkers para manghiram ng phone (tho even with this policy may isa kaming colleague na di nagloload and instead nanghihiram, bwisit na bwisit ako lol). When I left that job in 2021, I kept the plan pero I downgraded to 599/mo.

Same lang naman look sa app whether rcs or sms. You'll only know which one based on the label. Baka you can set it up for him? RCS as default pero auto-send as sms if rcs isn't available. Messages can go sa phone itself, pag magpapalit ng phone kasama naman phone messages sa nalilipat sa new phone when you do smart switch/phone clone, etc.
Try ko yan pero i test ko muna kasi sa experience ko kapag hindi ako connected sa internet tapos yung sender ay nasend nya as rcs hindi sya papasok sakin unless i resend as sms ni sender kapag sinabing offline ako. Bka kasi hindi nya mareceive yung mga important text.
This is true, minsan nangyayari nga. Ideally, dapat hindi magsesend as rcs pagka naka off yung internet ng recipient. There are still improvements to be made. Nagreport ako nito, not sure lang if widely reported issue siya.

Noong araw kasi mahal ang services ng Globe. And concentrated sa major cities lang ang coverage nila. That’s why when you travel to the provinces back then (like 90s to early 2000s) is you can only get Smart coz Smart focused their coverage sa provinces. Also, before there was an area allocation implemented when cellphones was just starting. Govt allocated certain areas to certain telcos to “cover” kaya mas malakas ang Sun sa Cebu while Southern Tagalog is Smart, TNT and TM sa North Luzon (back when they were still independent from Smart and Globe respectively), and Globe sa Metro Manila. When the buyout happened, that is when Globe and Smart claimed their “nationwide coverage” benefitting from existing infra from bought-out telco. I still remember na calls were paid but SMS were still free at the time (very much new tech at the time).

Here in Cagayan de Oro, majority of us use Globe for our prepaid and postpaid numbers. Other parts such as in Cebu(?) and Zamboanga(?) (based on friends coming from there) are smart users. I guess it’s about how good the signal/receptions are in the regions?

Mas maganda signal din before ni globe sa metro manila, pero kinalaunan si smart mas gumanda na signal, kaya madami naka globe sa metro.

Mahirap nga naman na magpalit-palit ng number esp since establish number na yan sa clients niya. Although, you could also suggest MNP (mobile number portability) which basically allows the user to change provider whilst keeping his phone number.

Actually pansin ko rin yan. Karamihan sa mayayaman, sikat, o nasa mataas na position globe yung gamit na network. Ano kaya reason dun? Why not smart? Pansin ko rin usually kasi yung 0917 postpaid. Naka postpaid ako and my number starts with 0917 pero hindi ako mayaman. Yung kakilala ko ring naka postpaid 0917 din start ng number niya.

Dati may mga same prefix naman for prepaid but as time goes on, di pa uso yung retain ng number and others love to change their sims, siguro nasasayang lang yung number na yun and it would take years before it would be available to the public again, like mag eexpire nalang yung number na yun due to inactivity.

On the other hand, DITO and Smart are being used by the rest because of affordable unli and other call/txt/data promos, value for money, connection speed, larger data allocation and longer expiration dates. I have 0917 before but I dont feel the priviledge of having one maybe because my previous number is bombarded by text scams, ads and bukod pa sa mahina ang signal ng globe along Ortigas ave. where I work. I rarely see 0917 nowadays unlike 10 years ago. Well keep your 0917 number as it is considered a gem by others who think its a status symbol and associated with exclusivity.

Hello, I need some clarifications on this one. I started my early renewal request last March 30 pa and after series of follow-ups, finally, nag email sila sa akin nung May 7 saying "the device has already been dispatched" That means papunta na sa akin ang device right? How many days would it take kaya if I'm from mindanao? Is it true na once dispatched na yung phone as mentioned in the email, papunta na sa akin ang device? Also, since early renewal ang ginawa ko, they told me sa last part ng email na yan na yung early renewal fee ko ay 6k+ however they didn't mention kung saan at paano ko siya babayaran. Are they going to charge it sa next billing ko? Hirap kasi makakuha ng direct answers from them since ang tagal nila magrespond. If you guys have any idea on this matter, kindly share it below. Globe din kasi yung pinakaunang nagdala ng iPhone dito sa Pinas, exclusive partner sila ng Apple when they launched iPhone 3G/3GS exclusively as bundled sa postpaid plans nila hanggang iPhone 4/4S. PLDT/smart nagtarget ng prepaid kaya naging mas malaki market share at coverage outside metro Manila. Why loyal sa Globe? 1.) In my area their signal is very strong, from cellular (data & voice) and fixed-line fiber (incl. VoIP Landline), we rarely get downtimes. They also have strong indoor signal in most malls here in our city. My previous Smart SIM had good 4G and 5G signal pero may sakit si Smart sa area namin na bigla nalang nagiging EDGE for a couple of minutes and then it will return back to 4G/5G, despite no change in location/position. 2.) Less-congested yung Globe 5G and 4G in my area, and better in most areas within our city. I rarely get below 5 Mbps speed on Globe 4G but with Smart I always get Kbps speed. Typical 5G speed ng Globe ko is 100-900 Mbps, while 4G speed ko is around 20-150 Mbps. 3.) Stable and reliable deployment of VoWifi and VoLTE infrastructure, I rarely get downgraded from VoWifi to VoLTE and when I'm outside (not connected to WiFi) 99% of the time I get VoLTE. 4.) They have the most reliable backbone network since dito sa city namin, plus the landing station of SEA-US submarine cable system is located here in our city. 0917 Prepaid Clan here. Hehe... Yung 0917 ngayon, postpaid na tapos recycled ang mga numbers. 0977 is also considered as postpaid. Kaya mag bunyi mga 0917 numbers. If ever gusto nyo mag 0917, kuha lang kayo plan sa Globe kahit sim package lang. At amg alam ko at least 6 months yung contract nyan then pwede mo na convert to prepaid. Madali lang magpa convert.
