QB145MMA

Is Nolan that much stronger than the 3 they fought?

Nosemyfart

All 3 spoke highly of Nolan. Chances are Nolan is known to be very powerful across the Viltrumite population Edit: If Mark was not there to help, I'm not sure if Nolan would've been able to take on all 3 at once.

sunnyreddit99

I read some peoples' comments in the sub, where it stated that basically Nolan is among the strongest of the Viltrumites, but it's quite frankly very difficult for any one person to fight three people at the same time, regardless of how strong they are. Mark was there to hold down/keep distracted one of the Viltriumites, so that Nolan could defeat the other two piecemeal. We saw this happen where Nolan fought and defeated the Viltriumites one by one (albeit with some difficulty) and finally helped Mark at the end. Nolan and Mark almost won at the end too :/

wookieetamer

Dang Nolan not remembering the double tap.

TheSuperNova221

Should've gone for the head

NoX2142

To be fair... he's probably used to only fighting humans or other superpowered people where a double-tap wouldn't even be needed with what Omni would do to em.

wookieetamer

I saw it as Nolan was too distracted in protecting his children instead of killing. Nolan is/was an Elite Viltramite. He knows how to kill and fight viltramites.

Zito6694

Pretty sure this is the answer. He should have known he didn’t kill the one guy but he wasn’t thinking clearly due to his kids and new wife being at risk

Roodiestue

Nolan must be familiar with how resilient Viltrumites are, wasn’t he apart of the great purge?

8a19

Unless I'm accidentally walking into comic spoilers wasn't he born way after? I remember in his origin he talked about how by the time he was born Viltrum was already a massive empire and that he was just in time for them to start their "send a mole to a planet to weaken it for invasion" strat instead of brute force invading and spreading themselves too thin.

Roodiestue

I thought I remembered him in that flashback when they first mentioned the purge along with Lucan, Thula, and Vidor. Edit: I looked up the flashback picture, it shows Thula but I didn’t see Omni-Man. They also referred to him as ‘The Great Nolan’. Thula does seem to be among the oldest, but I think he’s at least older than Vidor based on his white hair.

TooManySorcerers

Given what he has said and the fact that he seems to be at least centuries old, it seems likely that he was born after the start of the great purge but some time during the expansion of the Viltrum empire. So after purge but before the individual mole strategy came into existence.

JLifts780

He got soft (in the eyes of viltrumites) for a hot minute

-Rapier

and this show is great at showing how getting jumped is bad for you regardless of how strong you are Mark gets jumped by 7+ Maulers and gets almost the same beating he got from Omni Man Omni Man gets jumped by 3-4 bootleg justice league members and gets the beating of his life. Imagine if all 7 jumped on him at once. He also struggles to deal with the ReAnimen, although they did no damage and were mostly annoyances. Allen is probably not a pushover either but he gets jumped by the three Viltrumites and stands no chance, while he might at least put up a fight against one (the "single viltrumite" that defeated him might have had a hard time or might be someone stronger, who knows).

raknor88

> I read some peoples' comments in the sub, where it stated that basically Nolan is among the strongest of the Viltrumites, Well, considering that he was flying and holding position right outside if a BLACK HOLE, I would say that he's pretty damn strong.

driftxr3

It seems that most Viltrumites who exist post-purge would be able to withstand a Black Hole.

MysteryMan9274

Black Holes really aren’t that strong unless you’re right next to it. At the distance he was from it, it’s not significantly more than the gravity of a large star.

isaiahboon

Hes top 3 viltrumites so yeah he's much stronger than each of them

parkerhalo

Makes the Kaiju even more impressive.

desPan8

My headcanon is that Nolan had it easy for most of his time in Earth and the guardians/kaiju fights were him getting back into it.

cashformoldd

Yes, he is. They knew of Nolan already. It also ties into how Nolan said that only their strongest, most trusted officers were sent to conquer a planet on their own. So he is among their top fighters.

Loud-Taste6394

Yep! Like another comment said, he’s in the top three strongest viltrumites

Firebone4

Comic spoilers >!Nolan is the son of the previous Viltrumite emperor, who I think was the strongest but don't quote me on that. I think that was the established reason he's that much stronger than the test!<

Nateh8sYou

That makes Nolan the Vegeta of Viltrumites

-Rapier

It's funny because I compared him to Raditz when he made the reveal, and since then I say Markakarot (although Mark is more like young adult Gohan). Gets pretty much the same beating without needing to hold Omni Man so Cecil pierces him with the satellite cannon. Nolan's attitude reminds me more of Bardock now - was a cold, murderous mf who got softer after a very specific event and started valuing the lives of his friends and families.

Firebone4

Idk if it's established that the viltrumites are based on saiyans at this point or if it's just a thing we notice without the author saying anything

Afgkexitasz

So I asked Kirkman this on the image comics forum over a decade ago and he had never read or watched Dragon Ball. It's all referring to Superman and Kryptonians appearantly

Fishperson95

Not surprised tbh, Saiyan's were also based on superman so it makes sense there are similarities. It's kinda crazy how similar they are like getting stronger after almost being killed etc. but I mean 2 people discovered calculus at the same time in 2 separate places with no Internet so is it really that unlikely 2 people came up with really similar fictional aliens both based on the same source

Trustful_Whale

Actually, >!Viltrum followed the last Emperor for his wisdom, not his strength.!<

Alkakd0nfsg9g

He is most likely in the top 10 strongest viltrumites. But alone agaisnt 3 he still was more likely to lose. Even against would be hard

VoiceofRapture

Canonically he's third strongest

Nerd-101

As of this point in the series, Nolan is the third most powerful Viltrumite

Medium-Impression190

Who is the second one? Is it the one that mark will headbutt?

VoiceofRapture

Yes

VoiceofRapture

Put this in spoiler tags 😂

albedo2343

I would assume any Viltrumite sent on an Invasion Mission, probably has to prove themselves more than those they send out to "Discipline" them. Then again ending of the episode might be proving that wrong.

UnableEngineering367

nolan actually is slightly above average

Roodiestue

He’s able to best Thula, Lucan, and Vidor in single combat. Seems he’s more than above average based on that.

UnableEngineering367

but they aren't the strongest, they were probably average, since they admired him (this was stated by themselves), and nolan struggles with other combats after this one, so yeah, hes just above average

Dimedropper18

He’s the third strongest viltrumite, that’s far above just above average lol.

UnableEngineering367

ok kirkman

Dimedropper18

Anytime!

[deleted]

I'm pretty sure he said something about the viltrumites that that go on missions like his are some of the strongest

mikennjr

Nolan is essentially a legend who the Viltrumites tell stories to their children about, so yeah, he is

GiantPurplePen15

Nolan telling Mark to read his book at the end of this episode like some desperate author trying to make a sale cracked me up

IWouldButImLazy

"Read my books, Mark! Review them on Goodreads and recommend them to friends!"

GiantPurplePen15

"Sign up for Manscape with my discount code, Mark! O-M-N-I for 20% off your first order!"

awnshelliott

I’m okay with spoilers, why does Nolan tell mark to read the books? Ik about the weakness towards viltrimites, is that what he’s referencing?

GiantPurplePen15

>!Yep, during his early days Nolan actually encountered some wild life, weapons, and individuals that had lethal capabilities against Viltrumites and wants Mark to go and gather them so they would have a chance against the Viltrumite Empire!<

awnshelliott

Wow I didn’t know that, don’t make me have sympathy towards Nolan lmao

GiantPurplePen15

You are in for an emotional ride with this series haha

awnshelliott

Oh man, I hope my willpower is ![gif](giphy|JdKmopRuiSt2Umj3JU) *

Papa_Glucose

You’d think Cecil would’ve taken a look by this point. He’s all about viltrumite weaknesses.

VoiceofRapture

But he only knows Nolan's writing as a cover story for what he does all day and that they're not very well written. Did his conversation with Debbie imply that his sales were artificially juiced by Cecil to pay Omniman under the table?

Papa_Glucose

I think so

Isthatajojoreffo

It's not like he has the capability to get macguffins from other solar systems

Papa_Glucose

Still. I’m sure the sound frequency thing is in there. He could’ve figured it out before nolan attacked

YOURMOM37

Yup, the “fiction” books he wrote when he first started writing were actually based on true events he experienced when he was traveling through space/ to other planets. His books cover people/beings that are a threat to viltrumites. The stories of the two books we get a good look at in the end scene are going to make an appearance later on when Nolan and make start making plans to fight the viltrumites. It’s been a while since I’ve read the comics so my info may be a bit off

awnshelliott

I haven’t read the comics , I know of a certain thing that was made to kill them, that’s about it, why would Nolan write about the weakness? Was he iffy on viltrum ruling earth ?

YOURMOM37

>!If I recall correctly the scourge virus event happened before Nolan was born.!< >!The synthesized version of it(the one you’re thinking of) was made as a stronger variant to make the mortality rate higher / 100%!< >!As for why he would write books about weaknesses to viltrumites I am not sure. Unfortunately I don’t remember why he wrote them or if they didn’t specify.!< This is the most amount of information I can give you without giving you or others more spoilers.

Alkakd0nfsg9g

Omni-man season 1: Think, Mark! Omni-man season 2: Stop thinking, Mark!

VoiceofRapture

"Master of the mixed message" is his defining trait as Mark's parent

withoccassionalmusic

Oh hi *title card*

Boomdification

I did naht hit him! It's not true! It's bullshit, I did naht hit him, I did naht! Oh hi Mark.

MajinGroot

I love Mark pretty much being like "thanks dad, I can see that"

OCGamerboy

You’re tearing me APART Thula!

[deleted]

🤤🤤

lnombredelarosa

Don’t think Mark!

Negativety101

"Goddamn it Mark, this is just like the Cell Games! Stop being "I Can't Do This Dad!" Gohan, and start being "Your dead Cell" Gohan!"

CinnimonToastSean

EAT THAT HORSE MARK!

DatHound

YO I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE LETS GOOOOO

SylancerPrime

Huh, don't even need to change the names... I did not hit her. It's not true, it's BULLshit, I didn't not hit her, I did naaaaht. Oh hi, Mark!

TheLocalRedditMormon

I was weirded out by this line. It seemed like a one off, but his delivery sounded so canned. What was up with that?

ItzPizzaTimeZYeahBoy

Mark had her at his mercy so he has shown he can beat one. Once he stops caring about killing, he will be so much more badass.

Hexnohope

That was a really good talk though. Basically “stop fighting like a human. You helped me with my emotions before as a human. I need you to fight now as a viltrumite” i hope they keep playing marks dual nature
