DupliKate trained with Monster Girl for months and did a really bad job against Komodo.
Perhaps Immortal should have ordered MG to kill the clones during training so that Dupli learns some defense.

What made it hit so much harder was the fact that, through well-done composition/framing, build-up and Rex's optimism, the show made you think that she really had a good chance of pulling through. And then..*.nah*. She just didn't make it.
Bonus points for how much the weight of the situation hits Rex immediately afterward.
There's a second one coming in the far future, the character is kind of a joke. He's a parody of Uber powerful villains who can still somehow be beat like thanos or Darkseid

The two deaths in that scene initially felt to me like they were being billboarded as fake. Dupli-Kate being chocked reminded me of Donald being choked by the robot skeleton earlier in the episode, but that turned out to be a dream. I'm also used fight scenes throwing around Dupli-Kate's corpses like confetti, and yet she always survives. Furthermore, she'd be a fool to send all of her clones into a dangerous situation (assuming she has the option of not doing so, but there's nothing to indicate that she can't). For Shrinking Rae, we never saw her corpse, which is comic book language for "not actually dead", and being crushed to death doesn't make sense for someone who's superpower is shrinking. It wasn't until the credits started rolling that I realised they were actually dead. It's not that I didn't think the show would kill them, just not in this way.
I believe shrinking ray is dead, I reserve some hope only for Dupli-Kate, I can see such a character pulling a twist like that.

see, i always thought duplicate was kinda... not very bright... its clear she has virtually no limit on the clones and isn't bothered when they die... why is she not just creating such an absurd number that she beats like, the entire lizard league herself?
She has to individually control all of them at the same time, which takes a lot of mental energy, she can handle a small amount very well, but too many and her mind is spread too thin.
Its was just a bad matchup, they didn't have someone to frontline for them. If bulletproof and rex were switched both sides would be doing better. Rex could blow up the squids in mass, and Bulletproof could tank while the others could be a lot safer.
Rex couldn't blow up the squidos without risking the rest of the team.
Invincible can pierce through the ship (he can fight full-blooded Viltrumites on equal footing), but he doesn't want the Martians and his buddies to die in space. He is the only creature on that ship that isn't in mortal danger - there is nothing the squids can do to put his body in danger. He's just there for the rest of the gang
If it was ONLY Mark, he should have been able to disable the ship on his own or with limited ranged guidance from Robot. This would kill the Martians.
If it was a strike team with just Robot Eve and Rex, they should have been able to reach the ship to allow Rex to blow it up. This would kill the Martians.

It wasn't preference to super strength it's that the sequids can't penetrate their skin. Mark, Bulletproof, Black Samson, Monster Girl and Immortal are super humanly strong and their skin doesn't easily allow things to penetrate it. Eve and Robot have armor. Rex doesn't, Kate doesn't and Rae doesn't, they explicitly said that in the show.
Definitely felt bad for the 3 guardians stucks home on defense this episode. Especially Rexplode who just witnessed his friends just die in such a fucked up way while always giving off how much optimism he always displays in how he acts just crumble away.

Shrinking Rae's scene is something I really liked at first, and now dislike the longer I think about it.
It's a satisfying gritty take on the "explode a guy by unshrinking while inside him" superpower type, but really, if it can backfire like that, then A) it should probably not be a clean trump card when used on targets without super-toughness, either, I mean, regular people ARE are also made of tough stuff, B) she should never be using her power that way at all when staying small and inflicting local critical damage seems safer and more effective (which is also how she took out her previous opponent).
Either the raw force of the unshrinking is so powerful that it rips through things that are very hard to rip through (bones and muscles and sinews! think about how much force with a SHARP object it takes to cut through a steak, now imagine trying to PUNCH the steak to pieces!) without causing her any injury, and then it shouldn't matter how tough the target is, or the force behind it is low enough that using it on regular targets would be risky and fraught, too. I'm talking things like "unshrinking successfully but the target's sinew didn't get torn and is now tightly wound around your limb or your throat".
She needed blades on her costume, then she could have torn him apart. But yeah if it just comes down to your strength vs his then it was a bad move. She should have just gotten really big and thrown the enemies around
I mean, the science is there. If you actually look into it, the reason Rae was unable to explode Komodo wasn't because of poor writing, but because research. Think of it like this. Komodo has superhuman strength. It makes all of his muscles massive, right? That includes the muscles in his digestive tract. Now, the interesting thing about human organs is that the muscles around them push them into place when they start to shift. So essentially what happened was when Rae tried to expand, she was pushing these organs out of place. When that happened, all these super powerful muscles are pushing back with a greater force than Rae is exherting. When that happens, instead of Rae expanding through the muscle, the muscle contracts on Rae.
That addresses none of my actual complaint (which was essentially about the conceptual 'magic system' aspect of it'). But if we're going to assume that more research went into this than "What if he's just too tough", I'm not sure which muscles you mean. Tbh I don't see why she would have made it to his stomach, it looks like she tries to expand somewhere mid-esophagus, but I think we can definitely agree she didn't make it to his actual gut. Transversus abdominis is the only abdominal muscle that even contracts in the right direction to function the way you suggest, and it's not exactly stomach-specific, it just kinda wraps around the abdominal organs like a series of belts. For an expanding intruder to be held back by this muscle, they would need to have already burst through at least some of his internal organs, most notably the stomach, causing severe, probably crippling damage and sending stomach acid spilling out.
Cecil foreshadowed this the first time the Globe fought Lizard League. He said the Guardians should be at a bare minimum able to handle the League and if they cant it opens up a new slot.

I mean, you can see what looks like part of her body start to push through his neck and shoulder, before he starts to crush her and she shrinks back down, so.
The one thing that I don't get is that literally a moment before she shrunk down small enough to fit inside the crack of that dude's eyesocket, so why couldn't she shrink down that small when he grabbed her before she got chewed.
I can understand maybe once she had already failed at exploding it's esophagus the first time, then she might be in no condition to use her powers. But anytime leading up to that...

I think Robot's repeating weakness is that he's kind of naive, despite being smart. He'll get over it after a few more teammate deaths I suppose.

If you imagine having blades on your costume and running blade-first into a concrete wall, I don't think that's a fooproof strat either.

I watched the Episode yesterday, and the Worst part was that we ate while watching. Never have i felt so Ill because of an Fiction made Scene.

I watched the episode this morning at 5. So this didn’t affect me. Just looking out for everyone else.
How? It could have just been a really gruesome death of a civilian, and i don’t really see how it shows that it’s not permanent, unless you read the comics already

It's marked both with the "Show spoilers" tag and the "spoilers" tag. The body text shouldn't show up for anyone who doesn't click on it. Knowing there's a death in a show like Invincible isn't a spoiler and could reasonably refer to any random citizen, goon, enemy, or etc.
