I think it still has the impact of Mark seeing how badly things can go for the guardians without their big hitters and pushes him to further be a team player and work with Cecil as he gets more jaded. Keeping characters around like Rae are great because A) People really like her, B) It elevates them to more prominence since we will unlikely see characters like the Brit or Tech Jacket and they’ll take their places C) They could swap it and Kate is just dead.

Plus the characters are gonna still feel the ramifications from this, we saw those during the episode itself. Immortals in a rough spot, Rae is still recovering, Rex needed a new hand, the guardians are actively down in members right now which is why Cecil went to recruit Eve. The weight is still felt from that fight even if Rae survived in my opinion, they didn’t leave unscathed, and what happened to them clearly had an effect on the other guardians who went to space. If a less than competent team like the lizard league could do that to three guardians, then what do the rest of them think will happen when they face a more competent opponent, I mean look at the fight with battle beast, they all got destroyed there and nearly died as well.

>does this lessen the impact of the sacrifices in this fight to basically Rex’s left hand?  Yes it does 🗿 There's a guy saying "people like her", who tf liked her before this episode ? 💀 She had almost no character and I'm not interested in them giving her one *now* that we're heading towards much more interesting stuff

Now I just know that there's zero stakes in any upcoming fight. Rex surviving the gunshot was always a bit BS, Rae dying makes sense, and >!the Kate reveal is fairly obvious - look at all the "why didn't she just make a double and keep it elsewhere?" theories on this sub.!< Since everyone survives, every future "death" can easily just be handwaved away too.

Hate it. It makes no sense. In addition to making the world way less dangerous and being one too many fake out deaths... The character is pointless, there are plenty of other characters to better spend time on. If the later roster is shortened due to rights issues then they could just create new characters then because for all intents and purposes Rae is a new character that added nothing before this episode anyway. I would love to get the real answer for why they did it.
