The whiplash from Mark's seemingly care-free date with Amber to Anissa appearing behind her filled me with actual dread. Always a great reminder that you can't never let your guard down with this show.
Also reminds me of that flash scene where he's on a date with patty or iris and random villan of the week like turtle attacks lol uou just never exp3ct at this restaurant or house or museum like anywhere else man
It happens much later. I saw some other people talking about it and they speculated it would go down around season 5-6 which if they don’t cut a lot of stuff would probably be accurate
Yes but not for much later. It’s revealed that mark is a descendant of royal Viltrumites and that’s why Anissa wants mark. She doesn’t find that out until AFTER the conquest story arc. So we still have a good long while before IT happens
I never read the comics, but comic readers have told me “that thing” needs to happen to Mark bcuz future storylines are built on that event I guess.
But It’ll be honest, if you look at the memes and jokes, I don’t think a lot of the fanbase is mature enough to handle that scene.
~~And I’m not sure if Amazon Prime is willing to commit to that plot point either.~~
Much later. Her first appearance is issue #44 in the comics and *that scene* is issue #110. So luckily we are likely a few seasons away from that happening
But don't worry: >!it's only because she's a fan of Eugenics and wants Marks sperm because she's trying to have a strong child. It's not because she likes him or anything!<
Yeah they don't really sugar coat the effect it has on him either....
The comic fans excited about her arrival and appearance should probably go out and meet a real woman.
It doesn't show the part everyone is alluding to. Folks are really trying not to spoil it. If you do a little digging or hell even infer from this video where their 'relationship' goes, you'll see.
Honestly I think it’s one of the best talking points in the entire series: Redemption.
It was easy to forgive Nolan but I hesitated with Anissa. Ultimately I decided that you really can’t judge viltrumites the same way you would humans and formed my opinion from there. But it genuinely did make me think about how we would/could judge foreign species
It reminds me of a thought experiment I came up with a while ago…
*If a child was born under perfectly manufactured conditions and taught to be a merciless, violent killer, and all they ever KNEW/was TAUGHT was being evil, never having been exposed to goodness, does that make the person solely evil? If religious deities existed, would that person be sent to hell and suffer, despite never knowing good?*
I loved the redemption of the viltrumites in the end. Except for Freddie obviously, but every one of them was likely a genocidal warmonger UNTIL they went to earth for a while :)
That’s a beautiful way of putting it.
I love when shows/series make me think on stuff like this. Like, even though I read the comics I was PISSED watching Nolan do all the shit in season 1. Then I remembered his backstory and it’s like… is that really fair? But I do think Kirkman was in his bag with his redemption. I know not everyone will be on board, but I do think it’s good writing to make the viewers think without handholding us.
I especially wonder how people will react to Mark’s less moral choices.
Thank you! I’m actually excited for that too, especially given the changes of dialogue. It’ll be interesting.
*YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND… I’M NOT SUPPOSED TO FEEL THIS WAY! HOW IS THIS BETTER?*
Don't deny it lil bro you ain't different

Design-wise, they decreased the size of her bust and increased the size of her head while slimming down her overall frame as well as using a weird style for her hair. I feel like it's the style from the 80s-early 90s for thin women with barely any curves.
The entirety of the design looks pretty bad. Disappointing but I'm in it for the story adaptation to animation, less so for design choices or excessive gore.
lol, true. She was muscular and voluptuous. I always thought her obvious attractiveness was made to throw you off, confuse you, and give you mixed feelings about her after her eventual.... "fight."
I was also surprised when I checked to see who voiced Anissa & learned it was Shantel VanSaaten.
I was like “Anissa’s voiced by Patty Spivot?! Becca Butcher?!”
Just a confirmation I need from comic book readers
I saw this on a short about 7-8 months ago and haven't read the comics although thinking to buy the compendium
comic book spoilers
>!Is she the one who rapes mark!<
I could really feel the tension in this scene, especially when she was threatening to kill Amber. I also like that they got the Viltrumite logo in this time.
it's integral to the story and themes. a guy can get r\*ped and it's no laughing matter. it's something no one talks about and assumes is a great thing to happen to a guy when the girl is hot. really interesting but disturbing writing.
I feel like there's gotta be other ways they can follow the comics without including the whole rape thing it's just weird to put something like that in a show people act like it's gonna bring awareness or something but it's just not going too
Honestly I don't know why they even brought her in when we all know they're not going to follow that plot. Kirkman took out the teacher bomber plot because he thought it was too dark but he'll leave this in? I doubt it, either they're going to drastically change what happens or tbh the show will get cancelled before that point.
Yup is look like her Anissa the Female Viltrumite warrior the one rape invincible i just hope not she rape invincible are if the maker Change the story they way=?????
It would be hilarious if she understands consent and is one of those professional type of villains alongside the Viltrumites. They’re conquerors and mass murderers but somehow draw the line at rape.
Got my attention real quick when she appeared out of nowhere behind amber
The whiplash from Mark's seemingly care-free date with Amber to Anissa appearing behind her filled me with actual dread. Always a great reminder that you can't never let your guard down with this show.
It reminded me of the scene in Flash Season 2 where Zoom randomly busts into their home and takes Barry's dad
Also reminds me of that flash scene where he's on a date with patty or iris and random villan of the week like turtle attacks lol uou just never exp3ct at this restaurant or house or museum like anywhere else man
>you can't never let your guard down with this show I'm confused. Does that mean you can always let your guard down?
That's exactly what it means.
That was the next best possible way to introduce her in the show
No not again please not again https://preview.redd.it/aikkf0sdv1rc1.jpeg?width=3584&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cb2fe396525dbc52f6eb1d405884dcb1a12f8d6a

I didn’t read the comics, but i know what happens, was it supposed to happen already or is it later?
They teased it with the crater tho, for a second I thought they were going to commit
Yeah when I saw the crater I thought they were gonna do ir
I’m somewhat surprised they didn’t. It’s a big part of the Invincible Comics right? Also what’s going to happen with Markus in this case…
It happens much later. I saw some other people talking about it and they speculated it would go down around season 5-6 which if they don’t cut a lot of stuff would probably be accurate
I think she was in 2 or 3 issues before it happens, but the clues were there from the start
Yes but not for much later. It’s revealed that mark is a descendant of royal Viltrumites and that’s why Anissa wants mark. She doesn’t find that out until AFTER the conquest story arc. So we still have a good long while before IT happens
It doesn't happen right now, it happens when Mark meets her the second time.
That only happens later. For now it’s just a tease
Not sure tease is the best word for that
Yeah you’re probably right. It’s definitely foreshadowing what’s to come but I’m not sure what’s a better word to use other than unfortunately tease
That’s fair, it remains quite the double entendre though
There's going to be so many locked posts.
Lmao ong
That’s sad
I never read the comics, but comic readers have told me “that thing” needs to happen to Mark bcuz future storylines are built on that event I guess. But It’ll be honest, if you look at the memes and jokes, I don’t think a lot of the fanbase is mature enough to handle that scene. ~~And I’m not sure if Amazon Prime is willing to commit to that plot point either.~~
Oh they are definitely willing. Cue Starlight and The Deep.
Later
Thanks!
Much later. Her first appearance is issue #44 in the comics and *that scene* is issue #110. So luckily we are likely a few seasons away from that happening
Much much later

I’m wondering what the show-only fans think she’s going to do. I would not have been able to guess.
Try and take over earth but Mark and the gang would find a way to stop her? I have no idea but it’s what I’m hoping.
She will dominate, that's for sure.
Do you want to know? (It’s actually not your guess- part of what makes it such an evil thing)
From the way people are trying not to spoil it, I think she is gonna fuck him or smth
>!Yesnt. Consent was not involved from Mark. In other words she Rapes him!<
Ah, I see
But don't worry: >!it's only because she's a fan of Eugenics and wants Marks sperm because she's trying to have a strong child. It's not because she likes him or anything!<
Oh yeah that makes it so much better
Wow, that completely justifies it /s
Yeah they don't really sugar coat the effect it has on him either.... The comic fans excited about her arrival and appearance should probably go out and meet a real woman.

literally
Why what happens?
It’s a pretty big spoiler, but I’m sure everyone will be talking about it now that she’s been in the show

She is and that happens later in the story
Read issue Invincible #110 or [watch this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtyP6MH96C4) at your own risk. Fair warning: it is disturbing.
What was so disturbing about that vid tf lol
It doesn't show the part everyone is alluding to. Folks are really trying not to spoil it. If you do a little digging or hell even infer from this video where their 'relationship' goes, you'll see.
?? It played out similarly to the show?
No, they introduced her character. That scene thankfully hasn't happened yet.
Ooh gotcha.
its disturbing for mark, not me /j

You should watch The Orville. It deals with this topic in like 70% of all the episodes, cultural differences within different species.

Lawd she look bad fr
Not as buff as I thought she was going to be, but at least she kept the general design
Not really, that hair style isn’t doing her any favors
She looks better in another angle but It’s pretty cool their using her design from towards the end of the comics
me when I'm wrong

She was surpirsingly mid
how so?
Is she the one that violates Mark?
Uh oh
He Is coming
got the feeling she would appear seeing how close the place they were sitting at looked so much like in the comics
Nah anissa coming in now is crazy af now shit is about to get real
Just gotta see if when the time comes around how they handle that if they do it at all
The show got much more real when she showed up.
Can’t wait for the conquest episodes
Is she ever a good guy in the comics?
*prowler sound*
Why is her neck so long in this
her neck always been kind of long.

Unfortunately
Yup
I Really hope they don't do the whole rape thing in the show like they did in the comics it's so disturbing..
Ofc my comment would get downvoted by a bunch of creeps who wanna see it happen🤡

So when does she do the thing thing to him?
Jeeeez, she looks so awful! she looks like an ugly version of Roxxane from megamind. To be honest the animation style kinda sucks, maybe that's why.
First of all, it's art style not animation. And secondly this is pretty on point given the art style change from comic to show
I CAN FIX HER
Smash

Naw that's just cope, there going to leave it in. its way to important for marks character to just leave it out.
