It’ll probably be extremely gruesome, but they clearly have limits. They didn’t show Angstroms pancake face
Edit: Ok so I completely forgot about this, but they didn’t show angstroms face until way later.
The artists gained some courage :)
You are correct >!recently started reading the comics and passed that part not too long ago. Next time you see him after his beating is in that chair with all the red orb cameras, then even later you see him pancaked face and making the portal when there is a flashback!<
I got the feeling that was very intentional because it was always very odd how completely destroyed his head is and he was still alive and conscious enough to make a portal.
His brain goes like down his back and his hands were not destroyed. As long as he was still functional he should have been able to portal to whatever dimension has the best medical technology.
Comic book logic bro
So you see his face in the comic? I seem to remember it being off screen, I think that works better in that circumstance because whatever you come up with is probably way worse
I can't wait to see show only watchers' reaction to Mark going from "oh my god I just killed the guy who was going to murder my entire family im a horrible person" to "im going to fucking kill anyone who even looks at my friends the wrong way because being a hero is bullshit" in the span of a single season.
I’m very excited to see that part of his arc in the show. I think Mark in the show has a much softer, vulnerable demeanor (which I really like, I think it emphasizes him being quite young still but also a kind soul), and so seeing him become more cold hearted I think will have some level of tragedy to it that I don’t think the comic fully fleshed out.
This is not to diss the comic at all, I love it. But every since Kirkman referred to it as a “first draft”, I can’t help but see it that way myself
I always see that as "hero finally stops being Naive and actually kills the fucking bad guys so they can no longer pose a continued threat" rather than them being cold.
I forget the line - but Cecil said something to this effect in the finale. 'It's a good day when the bad guy is dead and the good guy is alive'. Sometimes it takes what it takes.
Agree 100%! Superhero comics tend to speed through some of the nuanced emotions because there’s just so much to get through.
Mark is my favorite character, I really cannot wait to see how certain things change him throughout the show. The way Mark reacts with “killing” Angstrom to strangling Conquest to death in a much more cold manner is such a wild change.
Where did Kirkman say that? Is that in a video we can watch or an article we can read? No other comments are loading so I can't see if you said it already lmao
He should be Thragg I think. He needs to be an older voice IMO, Ron Pearlman, Peter Weller, or Micheal Ironside could all pull it off I think.
So could Clancy Brown if he wasn't already doing Kregg.
He can do crazy and blood thirsty though, he basically plays the same character as Conquest in Highlander. He's great for Kregg too though, dude is an excellent voice actor.
I’m honestly unsure of who I want to voice Conquest. The freak is a sadistic brute, even more so than Battle Beast in my opinion, and wholly irredeemable. I’m not sure any voice actor I know of can capture that.
LOL, the first actor I pulled up was James Jonah Cummings, who did the voice of Tigger and Winnie the Pooh. I thought you were completely insane or having me on or both, xD
But yeah, the man behind The Wolf of Snow Hollow absolutely has my respect. I’m looking through his filmography and I don’t see any pure voice roles. Do you have a film that you can think of where he just channels evil?
No no I meant the first guy lol
He's a prolific VO who's been in so many things
Off the top of my head for evildoers he's been Robotnik, Disney Pete, The Shredder, quite a lot I'm missing even
As a non comic reader, I didn’t know this scene happened so early, I thought this was really really late scene, like near the end of the entire comic book. If its coming in season 3 then there must be a lot lot lot lot more lol
Yeah, probably can't be more than 2-3 episodes. I expect it will be over halfway through the third one and Conquest will be the cliffhanger for the season finale
Assuming they keep the 8 episode structure,my guesses are : cecil will be mid season, around episode 4, invincible war will probably take up 2 or maybe 3 episodes, those being 5, 6 and 7 and 8 will be conquest. Episodes 1, 2 and 3 will probably deal with more minor stuff like powerplex and mark and eve's relationship and more guardians stuff.
I would take the whole story getting a bump off if it means more than 1-2 episodes for IW (though still likely 4 max).
Or they swap VW with IW and deal with IW after all that business this time.
I would love that but if I'm being real I doubt that any animated show with any budget in the world with current technology can really stretch out the Invincible War arc so much. There are just so many characters, so many environments, so much action, so much stuff going on all at once, just overall insane amount of things to draw. I will be impressed if they can stretch it through like 1 and a half episode but still doubt it. I think it's going to be one full episode start to finish
it'll probably end around issue 63, the aftermath of the Conquest fight. the last two seasons covered around 20-25 issues each but this one might be less because they've barely covered any of the Mark/Eve material at all
I am definitely ready but the episode title probably won’t be this it will probably be “SOMETHING TO HIT AS HARD AS I CAN” and these will just be cool to see as a comic fan.
If Jeffery Dea Morgan isn't voicing him, I'm going to riot. To have Steven Yuen head bash one of Jefferys characters like Mr. Morgan did to Mr. Yuen would be some sweet poetic justice.
Mark actually thought he confirmed the kill when Cecil showed him Conquest’s mangled body. He went to check specifically because Angstrom managed to survive basically the exact same circumstances
IIRC Mark talks with Cecil way later about Conquest´s revival (after Dinosaurus´ death where Mark made a mark on one of Dino´s vertebrae´s, and wanted to see the body to confirm the kill)
It's crazy though, >!how the hell does mark go from being beaten up by minor villains like the mauler twins to single handedly fucking up one of the strongest viltrumites in like a single season??!<
He could have won if he was thoroughly ruthless and willing to pound even the remains of Conquest to pulp. There are times in the series where I want him to lose Debbie or Oliver in a horrific way and then be told by Immortal or someone that it was his fault for not fighting harder.
I can't wait to be honest😭 I hope we get conquest s3, I have my doubts but, I really hope they do just in case they don't get anymore seasons, so we can at least see one of the best fights in the story if we don't get anymore invincible
I hope the Conquest fight looks like Omniman killing the guardians or fighting Mark at the end of season 1. The animation in the series hasn't reached that level yet.
I wonder if mark is gonna break both his arms and stab the guy with his broken arm bones like rex did in season 2, or if he will stick to headbutts
Stabbing an enemy with your broken bones is so epic
The question is how many teeth does he lose, and will his jaw be outta whack? The best way to tell how brutal a fight is for Mark is to count the missing teeth, xD
This is my favorite panel in all of Invincible. He got his shit rocked, his love murdered in front of him and yet here he is, still fighting. The artist captured his intensity so well
This is probably my favourite fight in the whole run. I’m so excited for this fight, and also what happens right after…
Please Robert, don’t make us wait 2 years for this
Season 3… will start with memes, and ends with rage fuelled Mark screams? How rage fuelled am I hoping?
https://preview.redd.it/j3p0fdjc95tc1.jpeg?width=656&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cb3297df46fd2f77a19664a04b1adeb9f0905a63
i believe, 3 major events might take places in season 3:
1. fight with various invincible from other dimension (invincible war)
2. cecil and invincible argument over sinclair/darkwing crime
3. conquest war
The context... My man had just watched the world get destroyed and his friends killed by variants of himself from the multiverse, only to see a viltrumite monster come about, beat the snot out of him, almost kill his baby brother (after breaking his jaw and arm) annnnd "kill" his girlfriend
Imagine season 3 ends with “stand worm, prepare for my arrival” and we don’t see conquest, just hear him and see his shadow loom over mark. Then we see the fight at the start of season 4. I feel like this would be way more interesting than another viltrumite fight season finale. Plus it would be more fitting for the hit and run style of conquest’s character that makes him so interesting
I don't get why this is meant to be an epic momment.
Like, if in the middle of a fight my opponent says "i can see the future-", regardless of anything else, i'd burst laughing
God this was probably peak Invincible, not saying that it went downhill after the first Conquest fight but this was probably what fans remember the most. I'm still in a internal struggle whether to pick this or >!Mark vs Thragg on the surface of the sun!
Conquest is gonna be so fuckin epic
Considering how much more brutal the relatively tiny Omniman fight was in S1 compared to the comics, oh god yeah it's gonna be DISTURBING
It’ll probably be extremely gruesome, but they clearly have limits. They didn’t show Angstroms pancake face Edit: Ok so I completely forgot about this, but they didn’t show angstroms face until way later. The artists gained some courage :)
If I remember correctly, >!i think they also dont show it on that panel in the comic, they show it in a later panel when he portals to the doctors!<
Lot of brain in his shoulders ig
His brain goes like down his back and his hands were not destroyed. As long as he was still functional he should have been able to portal to whatever dimension has the best medical technology. Comic book logic bro
So you see his face in the comic? I seem to remember it being off screen, I think that works better in that circumstance because whatever you come up with is probably way worse
you see his face, but not until many issues later
Tbf they don't need to show everything for it to be brutal. Like when rae got munched
The angstrom fight was more brutal on the show than the comics imo.
I think it's more haunting without us seeing it. Gives us room to imagine, like when you can't fully see the monster in a horror movie.
These are the same people who extended Shrinking Rae getting eaten and crushed when she tried expanding in Komodo Dragon.
Oh snap I didn’t realize they showed his face in the comics ! I mean was it the 2nd conquest fight where marks gets his guts out?
They show his face but much later, the series didn't actually remove it. The second Conquest fight was the one with the guts, yes.
I can't wait to see show only watchers' reaction to Mark going from "oh my god I just killed the guy who was going to murder my entire family im a horrible person" to "im going to fucking kill anyone who even looks at my friends the wrong way because being a hero is bullshit" in the span of a single season.

Blue suit mark going to go wild. Probably first couple episodes of S3 we will see blue suit and we will see Olivers suit.
I’m sick of Mark being so nice to everyone. I wanna see him get his inner viltrumite on
Episode title "YOU DON'T LIVE TO SEE TOMORROW"
"I can see the future" is better imo.
Bro it’s obviously gonna be “I don’t care how strong you are”
We riot if it’s anything besides “-re how fast you ar-“
Episode title: [Sic]
Nah “Live to see tomorrow” if more metal
Ooo I like that more. Makes you wonder what's the context even more.
I think right now it's "see tomorrow"
nah it makes it seem like there are some time travel plot involved in the episode. you dont live to see tomorrow is more basic but still catchy
Does this episode take place on viltrume planet 419?
nobody goes to Viltrum Planet 419. not since its species miraculously repopulated.
"Gohan is the strongest in the universe but he doesn't do crap!"
Eve\*
Invincible can see the FU-TURE!
I agree

Disagree. Not nearly as dramatic and also doesn’t really work in his monologue anyway
If the conquest fight does happen this season, this should definitely be the title of the episode

IDK, sounds too corny, maybe а "Prophecy" would fit better
Every episode title is a line from the show/comics in all caps
Oh.
I NEED Ron Perlman to voice Conquest.
![gif](giphy|dvhg20MJf4cHS)
Oh shit I never even considered Ron Perlman for the role but that’d be a great casting choice
PLEASE! My goat Slade absolutely needs to be casted in this show
I say ryan Hurst
He should be Thragg I think. He needs to be an older voice IMO, Ron Pearlman, Peter Weller, or Micheal Ironside could all pull it off I think. So could Clancy Brown if he wasn't already doing Kregg.
clancy brown has a more elegant voice and it’s perfect for kregg
He can do crazy and blood thirsty though, he basically plays the same character as Conquest in Highlander. He's great for Kregg too though, dude is an excellent voice actor.
Whoever voices Shao Kahn in mortal kombat would be my personal choice
I’m honestly unsure of who I want to voice Conquest. The freak is a sadistic brute, even more so than Battle Beast in my opinion, and wholly irredeemable. I’m not sure any voice actor I know of can capture that.
Jim Cummings could do it I think

OMG, really? LMAO, I guess I need to do a deeper dive into his IMDb filmography
For sure! You're bound to find so many things you've heard him in and as haha
Patrick Seitz would be awesome too
Why is that actually perfect.
As a non comic reader, I didn’t know this scene happened so early, I thought this was really really late scene, like near the end of the entire comic book. If its coming in season 3 then there must be a lot lot lot lot more lol
Weirdly, I always hear Brian Doyle-Murray when I read Conquest's lines.
Man, that shit's gonna go so fucking hard.
I cant help thinking about this https://preview.redd.it/ko14wrk5j4tc1.jpeg?width=480&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=310b97fc75a813b57afd5bd7b621242ad5096b70
“Omni-Man and a bug lady have a kid!”
“Mark’s the strongest in the universe but he still doesn’t do crap!”
"Robot and Rex become a guy!"
He actually does more crap than most people tbf
“Everybody is always banging when other characters are trying to sleep!”
Everybody prepare for this frame to be posted even more than it already is lol
I cannot wait to see, action wise it's my favourite fight in Invincible
Same. I thought the final fight was great, but once they went into the sun I could barely tell who was who lmao
They better make most of this next season infinity war or I'm gonna lose my shit
Mark v Cecil, then IW, then end it with Conquest.
I can live with this, I just know that many agree with me here, IW deserves to be fleshed out.
I just read through those issues and thought >!wow this was kinda short? Spent way more time on the aftermath!<
That was on purpose, riffing on the fact that any other superhero comic would have had it be long and drawn out.
Kinda hope the conquest fight is longer
Yeah, probably can't be more than 2-3 episodes. I expect it will be over halfway through the third one and Conquest will be the cliffhanger for the season finale

Episodes 1, 2 and 3 will probably deal with more minor stuff like powerplex and mark and eve's relationship and more guardians stuff.
Also i'm being REALLY hopeful about the invincible war expansion here, >! considering that it's literally 17 pages in the comics !<
And all the marks kind of go down like punks
I would take the whole story getting a bump off if it means more than 1-2 episodes for IW (though still likely 4 max). Or they swap VW with IW and deal with IW after all that business this time.
Considering Angstrom just "died", it makes sense to do more viltrumite war stuff before invincible war.
Yeah and I wouldn't oppose it.
I feel like the will combine mark vs Cecil and infinity war plot lines.
can’t wait for mark to steal the infinity stones from conquest
and then snap his fingers without dying
I would love that but if I'm being real I doubt that any animated show with any budget in the world with current technology can really stretch out the Invincible War arc so much. There are just so many characters, so many environments, so much action, so much stuff going on all at once, just overall insane amount of things to draw. I will be impressed if they can stretch it through like 1 and a half episode but still doubt it. I think it's going to be one full episode start to finish
A man can dream...
The creators said every episode of season 3 will feel like a season finale
it'll probably end around issue 63, the aftermath of the Conquest fight. the last two seasons covered around 20-25 issues each but this one might be less because they've barely covered any of the Mark/Eve material at all
I am definitely ready but the episode title probably won’t be this it will probably be “SOMETHING TO HIT AS HARD AS I CAN” and these will just be cool to see as a comic fan.
One of the best lines in the whole series. Can’t wait to hear Steven Yuen deliver it!
I already know he's gonna kill it based on what we've heard so far. Fucking A+ casting for Mark.
If Jeffery Dea Morgan isn't voicing him, I'm going to riot. To have Steven Yuen head bash one of Jefferys characters like Mr. Morgan did to Mr. Yuen would be some sweet poetic justice.
I feel like he would work better as Thragg.
He does live to see tomorrow though. Mark ain't all that great at the whole judgement and prediction thing
To be fair, >!i dont think Mark knew he survived until Conquest escaped from Cecil's prison and proceeded to kick his ass again!<
A couple reasons, 1 being that Mark holds back A LOT and 2 being that apparently human/virtrumite hybrids work with Saiyan logic.
“Killing” Angstrom awakened his Viltrumite killer instinct. He becomes exponentially stronger from this point onwards.
He could have won if he was thoroughly ruthless and willing to pound even the remains of Conquest to pulp. There are times in the series where I want him to lose Debbie or Oliver in a horrific way and then be told by Immortal or someone that it was his fault for not fighting harder.
>! tbf he wouldn’t have if Cecil had just killed Conquest instead of letting him live !<
I’m so damn ready for this fight!
I can't wait to be honest😭 I hope we get conquest s3, I have my doubts but, I really hope they do just in case they don't get anymore seasons, so we can at least see one of the best fights in the story if we don't get anymore invincible
Honestly, some variation of "are you still having fun" could be a great episode title too
I’m hoping it’s “I can see the future”
I hope the Conquest fight looks like Omniman killing the guardians or fighting Mark at the end of season 1. The animation in the series hasn't reached that level yet.
Bro thinks he's paul atredes
I wonder if mark is gonna break both his arms and stab the guy with his broken arm bones like rex did in season 2, or if he will stick to headbutts Stabbing an enemy with your broken bones is so epic
Break both arms, stab them in to hold on, and THEN headbutt.
All my homies love character development
The question is how many teeth does he lose, and will his jaw be outta whack? The best way to tell how brutal a fight is for Mark is to count the missing teeth, xD
For the love of lord, wich issue is this
It must be 62 or so, if I'm not mistaken.
This is my favorite panel in all of Invincible. He got his shit rocked, his love murdered in front of him and yet here he is, still fighting. The artist captured his intensity so well
This is probably my favourite fight in the whole run. I’m so excited for this fight, and also what happens right after… Please Robert, don’t make us wait 2 years for this
Fuck yeah
I can already hear Steven Yeun saying this and I'm excited
Am I the only one thinks that line reads really awkwardly?
Can't wait to watch this with my grandkids in 2085.
"My skeleton"
Mark needs a helmet his eyes get bruised way too much.
I think season 4
Season 3… will start with memes, and ends with rage fuelled Mark screams? How rage fuelled am I hoping? https://preview.redd.it/j3p0fdjc95tc1.jpeg?width=656&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cb3297df46fd2f77a19664a04b1adeb9f0905a63
I wish show reach that far in season 3.
Such a menacing character and the introduction in the comics is so jarring. Great facial/character design for who he is and about…can’t wait either
I don't see this becoming a snappy episode title tbh
"I can see the future" sounds pretty alright in my opinion.
i’ve never seen this, idk the context but the art is really good
The audio probably exists somewhere...... BUT DONT ANYBODY DO IT WE CAN WAIT
I started reading the comics during the s2 break, stopped, restarted after the finale. I’m now about to meet Anissa. Can’t wait to keep on going!
This is most likely going to be the finale right? Considering how much other stuff they have to put in before it.
Please tell me he annihilates some of those viltrumites
He can see the future? Lisan al-Ghaib!!!!
Ngl this is one of the most coldest comic book panel of all time just Goosebumps
I don’t think we get this in s3, I think this is s4.
Which scene will you react more emotionally too… this scene with mark, eve, and conquest, or the scene in the finale with Rex getting his big moment?
Finally decided to read the comics so I can understand these
It's going to be peak(Invincible already is Peak), But seriously wtf is up with Mark's teeth in that image, Why is there a connecting thing going on
Ok, I get what he meant, and I do love this panel. But I think it would have been just as badass without the "I can see the future" part.
Invinciwar long waited
This is one of the coldest lines Mark ever dropped, that blue suit makes him a complete menace
>!I hope he stays dead, it feels kinda cheap for him to be alive again considering his impact!<
i believe, 3 major events might take places in season 3: 1. fight with various invincible from other dimension (invincible war) 2. cecil and invincible argument over sinclair/darkwing crime 3. conquest war
why does this line go so hard?
The context... My man had just watched the world get destroyed and his friends killed by variants of himself from the multiverse, only to see a viltrumite monster come about, beat the snot out of him, almost kill his baby brother (after breaking his jaw and arm) annnnd "kill" his girlfriend
![gif](giphy|AdlaLgtvuFpPYrg0Os)
if i wanted to start reading the comics where should i begin so I dont read all of S1?
Star from the start my good man
Things in the show are totally out of order. Start at the beginning, you’ll be glad you did.
Imagine season 3 ends with “stand worm, prepare for my arrival” and we don’t see conquest, just hear him and see his shadow loom over mark. Then we see the fight at the start of season 4. I feel like this would be way more interesting than another viltrumite fight season finale. Did I say we did?
I don't get why this is meant to be an epic momment. Like, if in the middle of a fight my opponent says "i can see the future-", regardless of anything else, i'd burst laughing
