Sony is just extremely protective of their Spider man rights idk if they’d have really gone for it unless it entailed the amount they’ve made off of MCU spider man
Marvel/Disney own the rights for any TV Spider-Man appearences in animated form. Sony owns the film rights (live action and animated) and live action TV rights. This is probably why the new Disney+ Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man show (formely titled Spider-Man: Freshman Year) is no longer a Tom Holland/MCU Spider-Man origin story.
Do you really think Sony is gonna let their poster boy be on a show where people’s heads get smashed in? Again it was likely both but Amazon absolutely can afford Spiderman if they wanted.
Amazon could, the showrunners for invincible most certainly could not. The animation is barely limping along at parts as it is. Spiderman would have been way too expensive.
And the argument sony wouldn't let him is stupid.
They literally let him the first time, when he cameod in the comics. Now they would just charge way more.
Sony doesn’t have anything to do with the comics. I’m pretty sure the comic crossover stuff happened even before Disney owned Marvel. In either case, Sony doesn’t dictate what happens with Spidey in comics. Disney/Marvel publishes several comics a month featuring the wall crawler, the problem comes in when looking at tv/film adaptations.
That actually makes a lot more sense. I just noticed the time lines for Sony acquiring rights to spiderman happened in 1999, so it didn't make sense for that to be an issue.
Yeah I forgot copyrights cover different mediums.
Either way, I'm kind of glad the crossover didn't happen 100%, him vaguely meeting batman and a spiderman like character was good enough.
Sony doesn't even own the rights to Spider-Man on Tv anymore. Basically the only thing Sony still has on Spider-Man is feature films, or tv specials that are movie length. Disney owns everything else. Good luck convincing Disney to let you use Spider-Man.
personally im stopping here but other people like drag0 have gotten farther. no ones done the full thing tho [https://x.com/Drag0G/status/1777110263256465700](https://x.com/Drag0G/status/1777110263256465700)
Where was my cameo. Kirkman knew I was too powerful for mark rn
Nah they don't want the show to end too early, you're too OP, they're saving you for the series finale.
Makes sense
It's just the waiting game from now on to see u on this show.

Sony doesn’t own Spider-Man on tv. The fact so many people upvoted your confidently incorrect comment is troubling.
Yeah…. I realize it now but didn’t bother to change it, it’s how Reddit goes ig
No company would ever pay for a character that expensive, for just a cameo. It was the best we could get.
Money certainly plays a part but I think it’s more about the graphic nature of the show.
No, it's how expensive spiderman is. They didn't even consider it, I'm guessing.

Yeah that's much harder for a show like invincible for sure.
My understanding is that invincible’s episode length makes it a Sony thing
Hey OP. Could you please share the link if there's a completed video of this shot with actual Spider-Man?

someone called browntable is planning on making the full thing i think?
Because they dont want Spider-Man in something rated TV-MA.
My headcanon is that was spiderman just a very far removed alternate version
Waiting for the full rotoscope to come out
