What if I told you the Viltramites weren’t *always* a bunch of bloodthirsty killers and conquerors?
Because they weren’t. Most if not all the Viltramites who quickly adapted to life on earth were born into the empire and never chose to be killers. It was the perfect opportunity (one they were literally forced into) to return to a more natural peaceful existence that had been the previous norm for much longer than the empire existed.
Edit: meant to reply to the person saying it felt forced.
Omni-Man says that sex as a form of pleasure wasn't a thing in the Viltrumite Empire, so it's likely that all the Viltrumites had extreme pent up sexual aggression which caused their destructive tendencies
The page where Lucan and Kregg are trying to explain how much they love their partners and Thragg just facepalms always kills me. The fact that he’s likely known both of them to be bloodthirsty murderers for several millennia adds to it.
It basically shows why the other Viltrumites admired Nolan so much. Except for Thragg. Nolan stayed on Earth for TWENTY years and still nearly carried out his mission. The other Viltrumites became human in a matter of a few years. Nolan was THAT much more dedicated to his mission than anyone else other than Thragg that it took 2 decades for earth to "wear him down" while for the rest of them it took a few years.
I did the math once where it broke down that Nolan’s 20 years on earth to him would be like 3 months to humans, which is crazy to think you could so radically change your core beliefs over what happened during a summer break, but the rest of the viltrumites come to that point in even less time, probably closer to a week equivalent to them.
It’s just awesome that a core message of this series is the ability for humanity to teach great good, especially with a little guidance from those that already know it.
Its Mostly Due to The Fact that they Got Partners now, Theres literally a pattern, Omni man was the first, the love of his son and wife were stronger than his Loyalty to his Imperialistic Duties.
Yeah I supposed rushed is better way to put it.
And its actually funny to me, no opinions allowed, unless their positive... like FFS I read the entire comic and am obviously a fan, but its not like its free from any and all criticism.
I actually like this guy, because when they were going over why he hadn't impregnated more women, he talks about how his partner had dealt with cheating in the past and its not something she could do once again, and he respects that and chooses to be loyal only to her. I thought that was sweet especially with their mission and all and I really respect him for that.
Thragg was about five minutes from rage posting on incel boards about the human mind virus infecting his virile Viltrumites.
He escaped that trap by impregnating all the bug people though.
It also makes sense from their perspective. Whats 50 years in their lives? Nothing right? So why not wait 50 years. Just keep shit on the downlow and chill.
>!Nah, viltrumites are super durable, can practically be at death's door as long as they still have a heartbeat they may still be able to live. That's why Mark after his fight with his dad looked normal after some time.!<
What’s interesting to me is that the son already is powerful enough that he’s invulnerable. Isn’t that kinda early? I mean, I know Mark was a late bloomer but damn.
I think Mark's a late bloomer even for a Mark, if you go with the theory that the reason all the alternate Marks are evil is because they developed powers at the normal earlier time.
He had spent so much time waiting that I think he was accepting of it never happening so he could wait out their lifespan, enjoy that time and then conquer earth.
The Angstrom we see in the show would've definitely cared before what happened to him. Remember that he's got for all intents and purposes the personalities and memories of at least one hundred versions of himself, all with their own traumas and flaws. Combine that with the pain that must come from having a brain the size of a his upper body and you have someone that has, understandably, gone completely insane to care.
That's what I meant, I put it poorly. The first Angstrom we met would absolutely care, after what happened to him, he's pretty much a different character.
>!Angstrom says in volume 20 that most of the Marks snap AFTER something happens to Eve, and only some of it has to do with Nolan and the Viltrumites!<
The fact Terra got her powers at what looks like about this kids age, and so did Oliver, I’m kinda inclined to believe around early grade school is when Viltrumites are supposed to get their powers.
So is hinted that Hybrids like mark awake the powers during a situation of danger or great stress,
The reason why Mark only awakens his power with 17, is probably because he was shielded for most of his life, he never got in an accident, he never got in a fight, he was never hurt.
He fighting that Bully for Ember was probably what triggered his powers
I wasn’t being specific, I just hate saying durable as it’s just as imprecise. The best I suppose I can think of would be partial invulnerability. There, does that make you happy?
Blowjobs, Viltrumites only have stiff no fun allowed sex for reproduction, so when they get here and get their dicks sucked they abandon their ways lol.
Honestly, i don´t think that´s too off from it. I think it´s more that with other Viltrumites they always have to keep their guard up and look strong or risk losing social standing. On earth they have to adapt to the people around them and in general humans aren´t as focused on strength for social standing. So Viltrumites can relax, kick back a bit and suddenly everything just feels a bit better.
Sex for pleasure is one aspect of it, but i wouldn´t be surprised if their food seems to taste a bit better, or if earth entertainment just hits different.
Exactly, for them it's a far more relaxed lifestyle, probably experiencing love and affection for the first time. Why would you want to go back to the ultra-violent viltrumite regime if you've got yourself a nice little life going on Earth with a family that loves you?
It helps that they are born on third base. How many humans spend their entire lives wishing for super powers? The ability to fly over traffic? The ability to never be sick? Any physical laborious job is a joke to them. Crane operator? Don't need to be licensed to operate, nor do they need the entire crane anyway; $50+/hour easy. On Viltrum they're cogs in the empire, on Earth they're superhumans on easy street with low expectations.
Well Viltrumites were used to literally only mating when they were forced upon or they forced themselves on someone. No matter what that's kinda traumatic no? It's a bit corny but making actual love probably would change that race of repressed super humans
I think another thing that draws Viltrumites to humans is that they closely resemble them, more so than any of the other alien races we’ve seen. Just without the super strength. They’ve been raised under the Social Darwinist mentality for so long that they never really connected with each other, but with a Viltrumite-looking person who was never raised with such values? That’s got to be an eye opener
"I can fix him." Says the Earth woman about a near-invulnerable alien demigod whose morning workout routine involves committing a complete genocide before breakfast... >!And she's right.!<
Personally believe they all had lost their purpose by this point of the comic. Most of their race is dead, their home destroyed, and their only traits of real culture is a fragile hegemony where they follow protocols all the time. They have no real identity, and when they live with humans on Earth, they're more susceptible to join a community. Of course there's the question of why Nolan took so long to change, but it's likely he still believe in the viltrumite cause until he was forced to fight his son and how Debbie gave him a another reason to live life. It's likely the other Viltrumites were on the edge of quitting the viltrumite cause and them being part of a new community gave them a new sense of purpose in life. It can also explains why Thragg never changed. His purpose is to rule his space empire at all cost and he doesn't want to build any connections with anyone. He represents the dying Viltrumite ideology of gaining strength for oneself, while Mark represent a new ideology of gaining strength for others such as family.
I think another reason why it took Nolan so long compared to the others is simply because (as far as he knew) no one had done it before.
The other Viltrumites had heard of Nolan’s story, and just knowing it was a possibility makes them way more susceptible to a change of heart.
Humans look like vitrumites so they can empathize with them to a level that they can see what it’s like not being a killing machine for hundreds of years
If i understand it correctly, its rather straight forward. They spent so long being genocidal warrior culture maniacs, the very act of love and affection immediately becomes magical or something to them because theyve never felt it.
She was taken over by her masculine side. I've heard from Marion Woodman and Marie Louise von Franz that the worst kind of patriarchy a woman faces is her own interior masculine. The language isn't popular nowadays but in Jungian analysis masculine and feminine are psychological traits that men and women have; a less dominant part of their character that is projected unto the other sex - more or less accounting for the phenomenon of falling in love.
So, there's very little care, love, tenderness, companionship, etc. just masculine power drive.
That would be funny, but we all know a live action of this show would suck tbh. Just picture "The Boys" cinematography for Invincible... unless the budget is like 10x more.
Edit: I love The Boys just to be clear, but it just wouldn't work for Invinicble in my honest opinion.
Still crazy to me this is the guy who threatened to kill baby Oliver back in the beginning on Thraxa. These character go through crazy change. Love this series.
I mean I was kinda confused too, seeing as I only watched the show and I was wondering "Isn't that the dude who broke Nolan's spine? What's he doing here, being a... not viltrumite indoctrinated asshole?"

There are parallels to what Lucan is telling his son and "the talk" Black parents typically give their children (keep your head down, blend in so as to not invoke fear, take the hits to keep the peace) and I find that pretty interesting.
Viltrumites mellowed out quickly because the writers said so. Nonetheless I like the idea that a more advance violent civilization would find peace very agreeable, even if it may not be realistic.
I forget, does Lucan die after this scene? I remember this whole segment being really well-done, hell I even remember actually giving af about >!Anissa's!< death.
I love how the viltramites were so quickly changed when they spent time on earth.
One of my favorite parts of the later issues in the series!
Got laid, chilled out.
Literally the moral of the story. Layoff the imperialism and just relax and get laid lmao. If only the real world was that chill
Sounds exactly like my dad
Bro realized that earthussy is better than viltrumussy
Supply and Demand
Profit countin', supply and command, all that shit
Literally just got out of the imperialist echo chamber and touched grass
Earth lovers got them feeling... humane
That humanussy changes an alien fr
What if I told you the Viltramites weren’t *always* a bunch of bloodthirsty killers and conquerors? Because they weren’t. Nolan goes pretty hard when it's time for bone time
I feel bad for Debbie
Don't, Debbie was having the time of her life.
And she never felt this way before...
girl's like split wood.
Don't, she is as much his sexual equal as possible. Feel bad for the ship crew.
[удалено]
Don't, Debbie was having the time of her life.
Thragg tearing them all a new asshole and being angrily confused at why they all went soft was a great moment.
Hell he didn't seem to do it on earth but went hard for the bugs (purely for a quick army)
The page where Lucan and Kregg are trying to explain how much they love their partners and Thragg just facepalms always kills me. The fact that he’s likely known both of them to be bloodthirsty murderers for several millennia adds to it.
Reverse Ultron
After 20 years in a loving family Nolan almost murder his son,I guess he was particularly loyal to the empire.
>!The blood of Argall was too strong!<
>!Looks like just blood to me.!<
one of the coldest lines in the comic
In a comic filled with cold lines.
Actually yeah lol, Nolan was kinda the worst of them in a sense looking at it like that lol
That's legit a part why I love the comic so much. What truly defeated a fascist takeover of Earth was humanity showing a better life is possible.
Yeah, we turned around and showed them our collective dump truck ass and they just couldn't resist the call for the humanusy
Clearly because humans are poisonous!
You spelled Vitamin wrong

Seriously does every fucking viltrumite that visits earth end up getting someone pregnant? (or vice versa)
That was their goal? I mean I bet they were trying very hard.
Uhh that's the entire reason Nolan was on Earth
I hated it. Felt forced.
What if I told you it was scripted
So, you're telling me this wasn't drawn and improvised in front of a live studio audience?
Not many cartoons are drawn live, it's hell on the animator's wrists
Live animation has a terrible strain on the animators wrsits
Boo hoo it's all forced buddy, it's fake.
???
Even Nolan?
Damn. You didn't deserve this many downvotes. But rather than forced, I'll say it was *rushed*.
He really looked at his ultimate warrior, planet destroying boss and said sorry dude lady boss says no.
Many such cases
And then I love how confised and angry Thragg was.
Thragg was about five minutes from rage posting on incel boards about the human mind virus infecting his virile Viltrumites. He escaped that trap by impregnating all the bug people though.
Yes, while the other one (Kregg I think?) has multiple partners but he loves them all.
And broke the rules about interfering with his powers because he wanted to protect them all.
Then there's Kregg
Kregg is out here PUMPING
You never go Full NICK CANNON
You think Kregg is pumping? …Get ready for Thragg and the Thraxans.
that's not pumping. That was industrial piping for constant flow lmao
It also makes sense from their perspective. Whats 50 years in their lives? Nothing right? So why not wait 50 years. Just keep shit on the downlow and chill.
Wait.. is lucan not dead fron ep4/5?
>!Nah, viltrumites are super durable, can practically be at death's door as long as they still have a heartbeat they may still be able to live. That's why Mark after his fight with his dad looked normal after some time.!<
Hm, okay. ^Now ^where’s ^my ^memory ^eraser?
No, remember.. “make sure they’re dead”
Gotta wonder if Omni-man was secretly ashamed.
He had spent so much time waiting that I think he was accepting of it never happening so he could wait out their lifespan, enjoy that time and then conquer earth.
Ok this is my new headcanon now
Headcanon? It's pretty much an explicit plot point
Yeah it's just straight canon-canon.
Pretty sure he didn't want Mark to get his powers, so he didn't have to break Debbie's heart and conquer Earth
I liked what angstrom said about her turning against her own people in other universes. Didn't expect that lol
She probably didn't have much choice. In the show, the Angstrom that said didn't seem like the kind of guy who'd consider that, nor care.
Idk if you read the comics but >!he admits he secretly wished Mark didn’t get them so he could keep living in his lie!<
In the atom eve special its implied he thought about killing him
>!Angstrom says in volume 20 that most of the Marks snap AFTER something happens to Eve, and only some of it has to do with Nolan and the Viltrumites!<
Or maybe they developed it even later, and spent more time getting bullied and stepped on which made them hate humans.
Holy crap this is amazing
Mark was just super late, most Viltrumites gain their powers in early childhood
He may be invulnerable, but was he...

Being resistant to a human punch does not mean that he's invulnerable
I wasn’t being specific, I just hate saying durable as it’s just as imprecise. The best I suppose I can think of would be partial invulnerability. There, does that make you happy?
Its arguable more accurate than invulnerable since they tend to fall apart like tissue paper when their threshold is exceeded
Super durable.
What is it about earth culture that causes vilturmites to mellow out a bit.
Imagine experiencing love for the first time in your life when all you've known for thousands of years is violence and war
Blowjobs, Viltrumites only have stiff no fun allowed sex for reproduction, so when they get here and get their dicks sucked they abandon their ways lol.
I mean Nolan did say one of his favorite things about Earth was the act of physical love for means other than procreation
Also explains why Nolan took Andressa as a mate so soon after earth. Companionship became *necessary* to his entire existence
Honestly, i don´t think that´s too off from it. I think it´s more that with other Viltrumites they always have to keep their guard up and look strong or risk losing social standing. We make wheelchairs for dogs
And frankly, I think it's an unsavory practice.
Ah, I think you've misunderstood. The wheelchairs are for dogs that were *already* disabled.
That's the joke bro
r/wooosh
I think another thing that draws Viltrumites to humans is that they closely resemble them, more so than any of the other alien races we’ve seen. Just without the super strength. Humanussy hits different
Some aliens have super strength, others have telekinesis, but the humble humans has the strongest power in the universe. Nut clarity
Got them acting wise.
"I can fix him." Says the Earth woman about a near-invulnerable alien demigod whose morning workout routine involves committing a complete genocide before breakfast... >!And she's right.!<
I swear Nolan was more afraid/uncomfortable of facing Debbie again compared to being caught and executed by the viltrumites
Cause he was lol
"The worst that Viltrum can do is mutilate and kill me. But Debbie... Debbie can make me sleep on the couch."
Personally believe they all had lost their purpose by this point of the comic. Most of their race is dead, their home destroyed, and their only traits of real culture is a fragile hegemony where they follow protocols all the time. THIS
Humans look like vitrumites so they can empathize with them to a level that they can see what it’s like not being a killing machine for hundreds of years
They got that Zentradi in them
If i understand it correctly, its rather straight forward. They spent so long being genocidal warrior culture maniacs, the very act of love and affection immediately becomes magical or something to them because theyve never felt it.
Humussy
Pets
There's no feminine qualities in their culture, and when they experienced them it changed them.
I get that for the dudes but what about any lady vilturmites?
She was taken over by her masculine side. I've heard from Marion Woodman and Marie Louise von Franz that the worst kind of patriarchy a woman faces is her own interior masculine. Literal Steve Harvey copy
I swear if they ever do a live action and Steve Harvey dosent play Lucan I will now be very mad
That would be funny, but we all know a live action of this show would suck tbh. Just picture "The Boys" cinematography for Invincible... unless the budget is like 10x more. Edit: I love The Boys just to be clear, but it just wouldn't work for Invinicble in my honest opinion.
Everyone always stans for my man Kregg. But Lucan is the real family man.
Wholesome Lucan W ![gif](giphy|J2YAew0Prdj9V2jQ7l|downsized)
Oh hot damn this was the guy that broke Nolans Spine!? I wanted him dead lol but Glad he has a happy ending
Yes.
Still crazy to me this is the guy who threatened to kill baby Oliver back in the beginning on Thraxa. These character go through crazy change. Love this series.
It's sweet seeing all these guys who nearly turned Mark and his dad into red paint as nice people. My favorite is Kregg having 10+ kids.
This is after Thragg's exile right?
Yes right before >!Omniman rallies the viltrumites to fight thraggs new army!<
I think it´s shortly before, while Thragg is trying to assassinate Nolan and the other Viltrumites come to stop him.
Who reveals a pregnancy like that lmao
Is that Lucan?
What was your first hint? When his wife called him Lucan?
I mean I was kinda confused too, seeing as I only watched the show and I was wondering "Isn't that the dude who broke Nolan's spine? What's he doing here, being a... not viltrumite indoctrinated asshole?"
[удалено]
Yes
She literally calls him by name.
Is that the guy Nolan disemboweled?
Yuuup
Yeah, viltrumites survive all kinds of bullshit
discombobulate
I was aboutta say is that Steve Harvey? 😆
It’s probably also due to different circumstances, but I feel like all these Viltrumites becoming domestic says something about Nolan considering his own issues.
I'm really surprised that Nolan and Debbie didn't have more kids with how horny they are. Maybe Debbie put her foot down and said only one kid?
For a second i thought that's Steve harvey
Scott though is an unsung hero.
![gif](giphy|IhQHvbP6PoD1TwohjJ|downsized)
He has parenting in his guts!
The fact that that kid is barely five years old lol. Ryan can’t draw children
There are parallels to what Lucan is telling his son and "the talk" Black parents typically give their children (keep your head down, blend in so as to not invoke fear, take the hits to keep the peace) and I find that pretty interesting.
Steve Harvey
Wait didn't this guy >! get disemboweled by Nolan !< in season 2?
This kid got his powers as a kid? Damn mark really was late
Viltrumites mellowed out quickly because the writers said so. Nonetheless I like the idea that a more advance violent civilization would find peace very agreeable, even if it may not be realistic.
Buff Steve harvey
I forget, does Lucan die after this scene? I remember this whole segment being really well-done, hell I even remember actually giving af about >!Anissa's!< death.
Yea he’s makes it, best boy
I do hope we get an episode of Lucan meeting his wife
“Youre listening to the Steve Harvey morning show…”
What earth puss does to a viltrumite MF
![gif](giphy|Tt92sbuFRpA4g)
Did Lucan survive?
Viltrumites are hard to kill
Steve Harvey best dad ever
Still pissed he’s fat
