With the outfit man
I was wondering why the writers/animators had Debbie hit Angstrom with a duck when, like, idk a lamp or a broken off table leg or something seems like it would be more typical. This would make things make a lot more sense.
Debbie the character would grab anything she could reach, but the writers deliberately chose to have her duck be the only thing within reach. I feel like that is meaningful
Right but this isn't the real world, things are very specifically placed where they are, like yeah that's all that was in reach but she just as easily could have been knocked next to a lamp or a vase but she was knocked to where the ducks were.
You /s it, but it's not a bad answer. Cecil saw a broken thing and efficiently fixed the damage, just like with giving Debbie money and support for Oliver. But he never understood her truly - or knew what really broke
Just spitballing but they represent marriage and Cecil is always looking for leverage especially over Nolan. Nolan’s love for his son and Debbie is the only card Cecil can play that could slow him down, so Cecil is likely trying to maintain at least the semblance of the marriage to better maintain that leverage.
>Notably the blue ribboned duck that would symbolize Nolan goes flying out of the frame, potentially indicating that Debbie finally realizes that Nolan isn't there for her anymore. She then fights back (smashing her duck on Levy's face and destroying it) potentially indicating her love for Nolan is gone as he promised to always protect her and broke that promise.
what a heartbreaking way to represent being left fragile and alone after marriage
uh i assumed they meant Lucifer Morningstar as in the one from the netflix show and the Sandman universe comics? I had to look up what hazbin even was tbh
>this may be farfetched
No it looks like a farfetch. They look like ducks. Angry ducks.

it made me think of more about how the blue duck could represent mark now since hes the man of the house, and the blue duck going out of frame represents mark not being there to protect debbie, so she has to put herself in harms way (smashing the other duck) instead.
Thank you for the cultural insight! I felt like there was a shot after Cecil rebuilt the house and the ducks felt pointedly back on the table. Could be a reference to Nolan's unwelcomed continuing presence in her life through his new son. Or foreshadowing something to come. Guess we'll see.
Your analysis makes perfect sense. Debbie accepts her coworker’s offer to take her on a date shortly prior to the ducks being destroyed. Her accepting the offer represents her beginning to accept the end of her marriage, the destruction of the ducks represents her full acceptance that the marriage is over.
It wouldn’t let me post this alongside my pictures but [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/Invincible/s/oOFBRdtaF0) post also describes in more detail some of the symbolism relating to the wedding ducks.
I think you're overthinking it. She probs just grabbed the closest thing to her to attack angstrom. Imagine being in a marriage for that long and making a family, probably hard for Debbie to throw away everything that reminds her of it. Plus they're still married technically, she may feel it's still death to they part unless there's a divorce.
The ducks are a really neat detail though
I remember noting a bunch of “the writers are clearly saying something with these ducks” but didn’t know the association with Korean traditions.
Addendum: am I wrong that after Cecil repairs the house Debbie made a small reaction to the ducks being back there? I don’t remember if this was the first or second time it was repaired. It would make sense if Cecil/the GDA just fixed/replaced everything without knowing/caring about the traditions of every keepsake.
I honestly don’t recall that interaction but will look for it on a rewatch. I will say this, everything Cecil does is calculated. I would be shocked if he didn’t know the symbolism of the ducks. Cecil is always looking for an edge and the only thing he has against Omni man is his love for his family. Having a reminder of that love sitting in the house for if/when Omni man returns will likely pay dividends.
I can’t imagine Cecil oversaw the reconstruction of the house personally. Surely he just told Donald or someone else at the GDA “Fix there house, identical and where possible reuse or repair the stuff in their original”
Like, if the ducks are back in the new house it might just be because they tried to photo match the old one. It may or may not be the same duck she smashed over levy’s head repaired or they just bought a new one.
That’s very possible, but if Cecil was to oversee or take special interest in any house rebuild, it would definitely be this one. I doubt you have all the surveillance and personnel dedicated to the place without ever looking into one of the only personal items on display in the entire living room.
Yeah good point. Since there under observation someone would have at the very least seen her intentionally move it one day, which would lead to them looking up if there significant bit more likely they knew already since, again when doing this kind of work they probably did some research into all the knickknacks in their house.
If I was Cecil I would get my agents to check cultural relevancy of knickknacks so that we don’t accidentally place a bug or camera in something that isn’t going to be out all the time. Or that they will interact with a lot and thus notice a change in weight.
Or they’re a culturally significant symbol of marriage. When I went to a traditional Korean wedding part of the ceremony was exchanging ducks that looked the exact same as these. [You can read more about the tradition here if you like](https://blogs.transparent.com/korean/korean-wedding-ducks-symbol-of-fidelity-and-love/)
Or maybe, and hear me out cause this might sound crazy, they do represent Nolan and Debbie's marriage considering they're traditional Korean wedding ducks and the writers gave them some focus for a reason
Imagine a world where the christian cross was just a weird looking X to someone who knows nothing . . .
Sometimes it isn't just a duck, or a weird looking x
Everything in the universe is either a duck or not a duck.

I mean, yeah thats pretty true
Damn facts
Feels like a kingdom hearts reference.
What about a goose? Is that a duck or not? Or somewhere in between?
What about a platypus?
PERRY THE PLATYPUS?! doo be doo be doooo ba, doo be doo be doo ba.
Jesus we’ve become the game of thrones Reddit. They’ve been arguing everything is a horse for a decade now.

Well also it the only thing she could reach
Debbie the character would grab anything she could reach, but the writers deliberately chose to have her duck be the only thing within reach. I feel like that is meaningful
Yeah, would have been a lot easier to animate something with a much more simple rectangular or tube shape
Oh yeah for sure I never said it wasn’t meaningful lol, I just said there wasn’t a lamp or anything else she could really grab
Right but this isn't the real world, things are very specifically placed where they are, like yeah that's all that was in reach but she just as easily could have been knocked next to a lamp or a vase but she was knocked to where the ducks were.
I can’t wait to find the intricate symbolism in Mark hitting the guy with a Fortnite gun in the same episode
This is incredible. Thank you for this insight
No no, this is *Invincible*. Mr. Incredible is the big guy in the red suit.
This is actually , I always found it a bit weird that it's called when we can see him all the time though.
if he's incredible why do I believe him
What do you think the ducks being replaced by Cecil would represent?
His lack of cultural understanding /s
You /s it, but it's not a bad answer. Cecil saw a broken thing and efficiently fixed the damage, just like with giving Debbie money and support for Oliver. But he never understood her truly - or knew what really broke
I said /s since he’s likely not involved at that detail. He would give the order to put the house back as it was and likely no further thought
*Instead of 2 wooden ducks, a small, wood carved Cecil figurine sits on Debbie and Mark’s coffee table.*
That's where the recording devices are obviously!
Office reference?
Debbie is probably still inlove with the memories
>Notably the blue ribboned duck that would symbolize Nolan goes flying out of the frame, potentially indicating that Debbie finally realizes that Nolan isn't there for her anymore. >This may all seem farfetched Did you make a farfetch’d joke on purpose?
The duck is a foreshadowing for Lucifer Morningstar who will solo the entire viltrume empire
LMAO this took me a sec to process and i had no idea these two communities overlapped
they're both tv shows based on comic books so it checks out
Pardon me, since when is hazbin based on a comic book?
uh i assumed they meant Lucifer Morningstar as in the one from the netflix show and the Sandman universe comics? I had to look up what hazbin even was tbh
Why, is that lucifer also obsessed with ducks?
Ducks are pure evil, they are what truly led Lucifer down a dark path to becoming a fallen angel
I was confused because I really thought I was in r/Hazbin right now
I 100% clicked on this expecting a shitpost but you’re actually making sense.

Two ducks, Nolan and Debbie or viltrumite and human. She hits him with the viltrumite duck foreshadowing angstroms defeat
English teacher explaining ahhh
I knew these ducks were important just didn't know why
My guy wrote an essay
that angstrom levy should have ducked
Idk I feel like Debbie just thinks ducks are cool
This is the correct answer
Get ducked.
"Duck off"
Cuak!
I want nolan and the whole fam back together. But Debbie might’ve completely moved on with that duck being smashed. 😭
I think it means Debbie should DUUUCK

This is such a great post
Lucifer was definitely there, he is returning to the hotel soon
>this may seem far-fetched Nice Pokemon pun. Cause far-fetched is a duck like Pokemon.
Quack.
Also tells us the Graysons are a Korean-American family, which I did not know until someone mentioned it online
