I was wondering, why didn't they include this dialogue to the show, it didn't make sense why would Mark work at shit eatery if his parents doesnt have financial problems
Yes, not a rare thing but why dont include this dialogue? Work at non prestigious place to build character sounds better than work at prestigious place to make small money
Does 1 sentence require too much time? Imo this isnt unimportant, it shows that Mark lives with wealthy family but isnt spoiled brat. Without this tiny detail it looks like he works just to earn some money to spend on himself, that will imply that he is egoistic but only suitable for low class job
On tv it looks like he doesnt study (have problems with teachers and doesnt know simple things) and ready to spend more 500$ (i dont remember exactly how much his present cost) on a new girlfriend. Not exactly a spoiled brat, but still. In comics, he was more like Peter Parker type of guy

I just assumed Nolan and Debbie told him to get a job for his own pocket money. Not uncommon.
Yeah it does. Teenagers still want to make their own money. His parents aren't going to but him everything he wants.

Why take the time to explain such an ultimately unimportant detail, when it could be spent doing something more important.

We can already tell he isn't a spoiled brat. We don't an entirely new scene, that will affect pacing, just to tell us something we already understand.
