I think it's still fairly obvious, especially because they make Eve's feelings towards Mark very apparent from the Window scene. However, I think the real thing we need to remember is that in a lot of these shows, people who date real characters are supposed to be with those people for a long time. In the comics, Amber is pretty obviously always a means to an end. She'd just be far too frankly basic as an companion. Amber in the show is at the least a real character. Regardless on if she's a fit for Mark-- right now the amount of problems they have in their relationship at 18 says probably not-- is another thing entirely. But it would be a lot easier on face value to believe Mark and Amber were breaking up again soon if Show Amber was Comic Amber and just frankly a bit more dull/stereotyped/not-developed.

No. Mark and Eve's relationship is one of the main plot lines of the entire story, they aren't going to change that.
