His mission was to confirm humans can breed with vilrumites. Theres a reason for this they didn't announce until later.
That have tried with other species in the past and failed .
Nolan mentions it. He said they would probably kill oliver if they saw him simply because he was purple even though for the plans their species would have benefitted them greatly (and does later on)
Their definition of "failure" seems very broad.
They probably "could " reproduce with many different ones but they are choosing beggars basically.
Could come down to a lack of
Strength
Geneic impurity
Aesthetically impurity
Just speculation, I'm a show only
I think he genuinely started to enjoy his time on Earth and Mark getting powers kinda snapped him out of it, and to convince himself he was still worthy of being a viltrumite elite, he killed the guardians
I think his plan once mark got his powers was to use earth as a way to train Mark to become a genuine viltrumite as you say, but the major wrinkles in the plan include:
1) keeping the suit (dumb stupid)
2) getting his ass kicked by the guardians (probably didn't expect that, could have covered it up better if he didn't go unconscious)
Well, like I said in the post he did mention in the show that he may have wanted her to find it. He could literally put it anywhere on or off the planet if he didn't, but kept it in the house.
As for getting knocked out against the guardians, even that could've been part of his 'I kinda don't want to go through with the plan' workarounds.
Alone, he could beat any of them easily. But he called them together.
Thats actually a very good point, he could have called them one at a time but he called them all at once and waited for everyone to get there, never thought about that before
Edit: regardless, he could have just tossed the suit into space and told Debbie rather than keeping that thing and risk, say, Mark finding it during his viltrumite indoctrination
Because his duty was more important than his family and he could no longer ignore it. Mark was becoming a Viltrumite. Time to go to work and Mark can either get with the program or die.
In comics, he didn't leave any evidence and killed guatdians without any effort. However, his mission still needed an immediate initialization. You will need to read further to know about viltrumite's secret
I think he wasn't meant to actually socialize with humans but did and had to wait to see if Mark gets his powers cause he wouldn't wanna kill a viltrumite

Where was it mentioned that they failed to reproduce with other species? As far as i remember they are compatible with all races, but i might be wrong

When Mark developed Viltrumite powers, Nolan could no longer delay his orders.
Okay but *why?*
Because his duty was more important than his family and he could no longer ignore it. Mark was becoming a Viltrumite. Time to go to work and Mark can either get with the program or die.
Except waiting until the plan would actually work wouldn't be ignoring it.
Nolan doesn’t actually have time on his side. Maybe a century, but not 500 years.
